WRITES
Darren Currie
First of all I want to welcome the players, staff, directors and supporters of our visitors Stockport County, as well as welcoming each and every one of the Bee Army to this afternoon’s match. I would like to congratulate everyone involved with our academy team on a fantastic achievement on Wednesday night as they progressed to the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup. It’s the first time in the club’s history, so congratulations to all the staff and of course the players. I thought they played really well on the night against a good Cambridge United side. They scored a couple of really good goals and now they have the opportunity to test themselves against Premier League Bournemouth in the next round, so all the best to the boys!
has allowed us to focus on all aspects of our game out on the training field, as we look to get another positive result this afternoon.
I think we should really champion what this Club continually achieves with bringing academy players into the senior squad, we have done it time and time again which is something really to celebrate. With me I always give people the opportunity in my squad, no matter what their age, I want the most talented players out there on the pitch. I was pleased to hand Okem his debut last week and I thought he did really well, but we also have so many other players who I think are the next in line to become academy graduates in our first team squad. Not to forget the likes of Boxy and Antonis who made their debuts for the club last season.
I am sure it’ll be a great atmosphere inside the stadium today and we need your support more than ever as we look to get a run going ahead of the Christmas period. Although I know it’s a two way street, so we need to produce some football to get you excited and help get behind us.
Onto the matter of today’s game and we will treat this game as another big chance to kick on up the table after the win a fortnight ago. We are one of many teams looking for consistency and I don’t think we are too far away from finding that, to put a run together. It’s going to be a tough game, but we must take advantage of playing at home, with no travel. With no midweek game, it
There is a lot of players pushing for places in the squad and that is exactly what you want as a manager, I thought Ephron came on and played with a lot of energy last weekend. He hasn’t quite hit the heights of last season but you will not find a man more in his corner than myself. I will help him and manage him to get back to his best, because he can be a top player for us.
If we all stick together, I know we can get a positive result this afternoon and start looking up the table.
Get behind us and we will try to do the rest, to send you home happy. Thanks as always,
#LetsBeeTogether

CAPTAIN
SKIPPER’S NOTES
I would like to welcome everyone associated with Stockport County to The Hive London for today’s match. I felt we ran Fleetwood close last week, with them only scoring the second in injury time as we pushed forward for an equaliser. Obviously we are all gutted to be out of the cup, but we need to look forward now and focus on getting ourselves back in the playoff picture. We now head into the winter period and it’s crucial that we can find some consistency, as we look to build on three points in our last league outing. With us being at home again we have to view this as another chance to put in a good performance and secure a positive result in front of our own fans. A win today would see us right back amongst the play-off picture, but there is still plenty of football to be played and by no means are we in a bad position in the table. However, we are as keen as you to start picking points up regularly both on home soil and on the road. Stockport come here level on points with us, so today is a big game for both teams and I hope we can attack the game with confidence, whilst also ensuring we are solid at the back against another really good team. They will bring a good following
with them so it is all set to be a really good atmosphere inside the stadium this afternoon, as I know our supporters will get behind us as you always do. Let’s stick together and keep building as a team, we will give everything to make this season a success and that starts again now with hopefully gaining a result this afternoon.
Thanks as always for your support and a safe trip to everyone making the long journey to Barrow next weekend. Thanks for your support
COME ON YOU BEES!

FOOTBALL CLUB
STOCKPORT COUNTY
OPPOSITION
The club was first established in 1883 as Heaton Norris Rovers but the name was changed to Stockport County in 1890 to reflect the town’s gain of County Borough status. As a result of winning the Lancashire League in 1900 County gained admittance to the Football League. However, after finishing in the bottom three in their first four seasons in the League, County failed to get re-election in 1904 and dropped to the Lancashire Combination. Fortunately, County headed this league at the first time of asking and so returned to the Football League which status they retained for over a century. Returning to the League meant that the club soon outgrew its ground in Heaton Norris and in 1902 it moved south of the River Mersey to Edgeley Park, at which ground they have played ever since. From 19OO the club became known as ‘The Hatters’, reflecting the then importance of that trade to the town’s economy. Having played in a variety of kit colours in the early years, County adopted white shirts and black shorts from the 1930s through to the 1960s. Then in 1965 the flamboyant chairman Vic Bernard introduced, as part of his GO GO GO COUNTY revolution, the royal blue strip which they have since retained. County maintained a low-level league position through to 1921 when, finishing bottom of the Second Division, they

became founder members of the newly created Third Division North. However, they headed that league in its first season, thus returning to the Second Division prior to a subsequent return to the Third Division North and further promotion back into the Second Division in 1937. This elevated status did not last for long and County soon returned to the Third Division North in which they played through to 1958 when the parallel Third Divisions North and South were replaced by national Third and Fourth Divisions. Having finished in the lower half of the Third Division North in its final season County became one of the founder members of the new Fourth Division. The team headed that league in the 1966-67 season but soon returned back to the Fourth Division which, upon the creation of the Premiership and the Championship, was renamed as the Second Division. County remained in that Division through to the late 1980s when the Uruguayan manager turned the team into regular top-of-the-table challengers. Promotion came in 1991 and was soon followed by four visits to Wembley in two years, twice in league play-off finals and twice in the final of the Football League Trophy. Unfortunately, County lost on each occasion. Following Bergara’s departure from the club in 1995, Dave Jones was appointed manager and gave the club its most memorable season in 1996-67. In that season County won four games against Premiership opposition in both the F A CUP and the League Cup and finished second in the Second Division, the large number of games (70) played

and in November 2011 he was replaced by former manager Jim Gannon. The team continued to struggle but eventually found resurgent form in the spring, closing the season with a 1-1 draw against Braintree which allowed the club to avoid a further relegation. However, in the 2012-13 season more financial pressures restricted the team’s performance on the pitch and in January 2013 Gannon was sacked and replaced by the Bosnian coach Darije Kalezic who in turn was replaced by the former Gateshead manager Ian Bogie. However with no improvements in results the team were relegated to the Conference North after a 4-0 away defeat at Kidderminster Harriers.
almost certainly costing them the title though they won promotion to the First Division. After Jones’s departure to Southampton, County consolidated their position until relegation in 2002 took them back to the Second Division. County then spiralled downwards in that league, twice finishing the season with just 26 points and by Boxing Day 2005 County were well adrift at the foot of the football league. However, they then appointed former player, Jim Gannon, as manager and he took the team to a remarkable run of form prior to the final game of the season when County were one of several teams facing the possibility of relegation. Fortunately, County managed to draw a tense final game at home against the league leaders Carlisle United and so escaped relegation. This was followed by a promotion push in the 2006/07 season when County set a new professional record of nine consecutive wins without conceding a goal.
Ian Bogie then left the club after a further run of poor results in its new league and was replaced by County stalwart Alan Lord. He managed to stabilise the club’s fortunes and guided it to a mid-table finish in the 201415 season. Towards the end of that season Lord moved within the club to become its Director of Football and was replaced as manager by Neil Young who came from a very successful period as manager of Chester City. However he resigned his position in January 2016 and was replaced by Jim Gannon who, upon his third appointment, said: ‘Stockport County holds a special place in my heart, and to be given the opportunity to work here once again is both a very proud moment on a personal level and also an exciting football challenge as a professional’.
But promotion was just out of touch, with a play-off place being denied by Bristol Rovers in the dying minutes of the season despite County winning their last game 5-0 at Darlington. However, promotion came in the following season when, after finishing fourth in the league, County beat Wycombe in the semi-final of the play-offs and then won a thrilling final 3-2 against Rochdale, thus finally ending the Club’s hoodoo at Wembley.
Results then improved on the pitch and County ended the 2017-18 season in a play-off position though lost in the first round of the play-offs to Chorley. They then began the 2018-19 season with a rousing 5-1 home win against F C United of Manchester before a mediocre series of results saw them drop to a midtable position by the end of November. However, a long run of league games without defeat then took them up to second position by the end of January 2019, which position they held for several months, gradually closing the points gap between themselves and the league leaders Chorley. These two teams then alternated in the top position before an away game at Chorley which the home team won 2-0. This could have been the end of County’s hopes for top place and an automatic promotion to the National league, the fifth tier of English football. However, Chorley then lost an away game at Spennymoor Town to an injury time goal and with County winning their last two games promotion was finally achieved. This was a huge personal achievement for the popular manager Jim Gannon who had served the club well, first as a player in the successful mid 1990s team and then three times as manager.
Unfortunately, the club then ran into financial difficulties and went into administration. This took its toll on the pitch and County finished the 2009/10 season with a new record low total of just 25 points and were relegated back to the bottom flight. In the following summer a group of local business men took the club out of administration, thus ensuring the club’s survival. However, the club’s fortunes on the pitch declined further and the team finished bottom of Division Two and were thus relegated from the Football League and into the then Conference league. During 2011 the businessman Tony Evans headed a consortium of new investors who appointed the former German international Dietmar Hamann as manager. Unfortunately, his team struggled in the Conference

The dominant centre-half also chipped in with five goals last season to help County to the top of the league. The former Barnsley trainee has previously played for Scunthorpe, Buxton and North Ferriby, where he also won promotion to the National League. Division, as well as two League Trophy finals. After leaving the club in 2000, he spent a season with Crewe Alexandra, before returning to Ireland with Shelbourne, winning two League of Ireland Premier Division titles in his three years there. Starting a career in management, he took charge of his first club Dundalk in 2004. After a season in Ireland he returned to Stockport County as manager. There he led the club to promotion from League Two via the play-offs in 2008. Leading County to safety in League One despite a ten-point deduction for entering administration, he lost his job as part of a cost-cutting measure. Heading to Scottish Premier League side Motherwell, he managed the club in the Europa League, but left after just 25 games in charge. He took charge of Championship side Peterborough United in 2010, but stayed at the struggling club for only two months, turning down a four-year contract. In January 2011 he was appointed manager of Port Vale, but lasted just ten weeks in the job. He returned to Stockport in November 2011, as the club’s director of football and manager, before being sacked in January 2013. He took charge at Northwich Victoria in December 2013. He spent just over two years with Northwich before returning to manage Stockport County for the third time in January 2016. He led the club to promotion as National League North champions at the end of the 2018–19 season.

Danny Bergara managed Stockport County to promotion in 1990-91. Brett Angell moved to Southend for a record fee, while new signings included Neil Matthews as well as Hartlepool trio Tony Barras, Lee Todd and Paul Williams. Stockport became difficult to beat, losing just three of their first 24 games and going top after a 5-1 victory over Halifax in mid-January. Newcomers Andy Kilner and the giant Kevin Francis helped County to maintain their promotion challenge despite the sale of Paul Williams to West Brom. Six successive wins took them up to second place and they clinched promotion with a 5-0 win over Scunthorpe.
Dave Jones guided Stockport to promotion and the League Cup semifinals in 1996-97. Brett Angell returned from Sunderland, while other newcomers included Paul Jones from Wolves and Andy Mutch from Swindon. After failing to win any of their first six games, Stockport soared into the promotion frame with just two defeats in 20 matches. They beat Chesterfield 4-2, Sheffield United 7-3, Blackburn 1-0, West Ham 2-1 and Southampton 2-1 before losing 2-1 to Middlesbrough in the League Cup semifinals. Deadline signings Kevin Cooper and Ken Charlery helped Stockport clinch promotion with a 1-0 win at Chesterfield.

Stockport County reached two Wembley finals in 1991-92. The major summer signing was Peter Ward from Rochdale and newly promoted Stockport kicked off with a 5-0 victory over Swansea, winning four of their first five games to emerge as pace-setters. Neil Edwards arrived from Leeds United and Andy Preece from Wrexham as County remained in the top six for five months. They finished fifth and beat Stoke 2-1 before losing 2-1 to Peterborough in the Third Division play-off final. Stockport beat York 3-0, Carlisle 3-1, Hartlepool 3-0, Crewe 2-1 and Burnley 3-1 before losing to Stoke 1-0 in the Autoglass Trophy final.
Jim Gannon managed Stockport County to League Two play-off final glory in 2007-08. Stockport lost just one of their first nine matches but slipped down the table after four successive defeats. Adam Proudlock grabbed a hat-trick in a 6-0 demolition of Wycombe in early December, starting a run of only two defeats in 24 matches that lifted County into the play-offs. Tommy Rowe was a hat-trick hero in the 4-1 victory at Rotherham in mid-February. Liam Dickinson was leading marksman with 19 goals as Stockport finished in fourth place. They beat Wycombe 2-1 in the play-off semi-final, then Rochdale 3-2 in the Wembley final.
WALKING FOOTBALL TEAM
WALKING FOOTBALL TEAM NOT JUST A WALKING FOOTBALL TEAM! The team is proud that they are able to work within our community, fundraising and spreading the good name of Barnet FC, but we also recognise the need to help build a community hub at the Hive and with that in mind, we have started to put words into actions. Back by popular demand, we recently held our famous Quiz Evening at the Hive Bar. 109 people gathered for a sit down meal followed by a superb quiz with some amazing raffle prizes, with chicken shares on the stock market making a surge! Igor and Eleni were amazing at keeping the food and drinks flowing, supported by Maria. We would also like to thank Alex and Oliver for their help too. It was an amazing, fun filled evening with the Hive Bar full of laughter and we hope to hold another event in the New Year. As well as our quiz nights, we held our charity games nights at the Hive Bar. Our last one raised ÂŁ530 for MIND Mental Health Harrow and we thank Barnet FC for allowing us to use the venue and contributing to our raffle. On the pitch, we welcome the latest woman player to join the team, Jacqueline Gunning and we thank Canons High School for their wonderful hospitality for allowing us to use their facilities when the Hive was unavailable. We look forward to hosting many more events at the Hive and thank everyone for their continued support. Together we can all work to make the Hive buzz.

MASCOTS This afternoon, we welcome our matchday mascots… Jaiden Joshi & Joshua Lovell! Jaiden celebrated his 10th birthday on the 5th November and Joshua is 9 years old today. We wish them both a Happy Birthday and look forward to welcoming them to the Hive this afternoon. Both the boys will be leading the Bees out this afternoon for our National League fixture versus Stockport County FC. Please give them a huge reception as they take to the pitch before the match for a kick around and when they complete a half-lap of the pitch during the interval. We hope both Jaiden, Joshua and their families have an amazing time at The Hive and we look forward to seeing them again during the remainder of the 2019/20 season.

CHARITY COLLECTION Barnet Hospital Charity performed a collection at our last home league match collecting a wonderful £153 which will go towards their massage therapy service. This afternoon, Leonard Cheshire will be performing a collection at the Hive so they can continue to support thousands of disabled people in the UK and internationally every day to live, learn and work as independently as they choose, whatever their ability. Leonard Cheshire are led by people with experience of disability, they are at the heart of local life - opening doors to opportunity, choice and support. They have over 100 care homes for people with disabilities across the UK and a further 150 internationally. There is a Leonard Cheshire home, Arnold House, just half an hour from The Hive where money we raise through fundraising can be used to make a difference to people’s lives. We are excited to be here today so please help us raise as much money as possible and to promote Leonard Cheshire’s amazing cause.

HOW IT HAPPENED The Fishermen started the quicker of the two sides, applying the pressure on the Bees defence which resulted in a corner that just looped over the bar. Barnet were not without their chances though as Fleetwood ‘Keeper Billy Crellin miskicked the ball which was picked up by Alexander who worked it into Vilhete whose deflected shot won his side a corner. A Barnet counter-attack saw left-back Elliot Johnson’s cross meet Jack Taylor in the middle who was unable to get over the ball and could only see his header soar over the crossbar. The deadlock was broken in the 29th minute after a cross from Coyle was spilled by Scott Loach which met a well positioned Ched Evans who was able to hit home the ball into the roof of the net. The Bees were not deflated after conceding however, continually looking to cause problems for the Fishermens defence down the right flank. As the second-half came to a close, a Fleetwood free-kick couldn’t be dealt with as it found an unmarked Evans on the edge of the box which forced Loach into making an excellent save. It was a scrappy start to the second-half with neither team able to get a foothold in the game. The Fishermen had their best opportunity in the early stages from a free-kick that was comfortably saved by Loach.
TOWN
The away side grew more into the half after Hunter’s driving run and powerful shot led to a strong save once again from the Bees shotstopper. Into the final ten minutes of the game, a looping header seemed to be creeping under the crossbar but Jack Taylor was there to meet it and clear it off of the line. A substitute debut was given to 18-year-old Okem Chime to try and help his side in the final stages of the game as he became yet another player to make the first team from the academy. The opposition were relentless in trying to secure their place in the second round of the FA Cup by scoring a second which was eventually achieved by Ashley Hunter who cooly slotted the ball into the Barnet net in the 90th minute.
TEAM NEWS Manager Darren Currie made two changes to the side that beat Chorley last weekend with Elito and Boucaud missing out in place of Jack Taylor and Harry Taylor.

Alex Jones Digresses STOCKPORT Welcome to Stockport, their second visit to the Hive. Our first meeting was in 1994, ending in a 2-1 defeat with Kelly Haag scoring a penalty. That was to be followed a few years later by a 4-2 victory. Not sure if Ashley Williams played that day, but the Welsh captain definitely tuned out against the Bees on at least one occasion during his youth. Anyway in 2007, the scorers were Adam Burchall, who grabbed a brace along with Wright and Carew.2010 was the last time that County played the Bees, and won 2-1 at Underhill, McLeod scoring for Barnet. Since then the fortunes of both clubs has been contrasting. Then last season it was the FA Cup, and an early Daniel Sparkes goal proved decisive.
Jim Gannon Presumably the Stockport manager was involved in at least one of those games. Like John Still, when he returned to Barnet, he is in his third separate stint in charge. He also made four separate appearances at Wembley as a player for the Hatters. I recall seeing a couple of these on TV, during what must rank as one of the greatest periods in the club’s history.
Edgeley Park London Broncos have played at the Hive. Somerton Park hosts two rugby Union sides and Newport County, a relationship which Rodney Parade has not always coped with. But Stockport are actually the first League club to try hosting rugby , when they moved to Edgeley Park in 1902.at the time County were actually the junior partners, but not for long, as the rugby club folded the following year.
Library
Returning to the book, the chronicle begins in 11912, with Swansea winning the
Southern League. That was a very different beast, with over half Swansea Town’s rivals being Welsh. Pontypridd, Llanelly {sic} Aberdare, and bottom placed Ton Pentre were opponents, with only Ton playing today, and as for Croydon Common……. Wow!!!
Swansea City. Complete record This was the book I browsed the other day when visiting Swansea library. We had, at that stage, played the Swans on four occasions, failing to score a single goal the first four instances. That should not be surprising in 1993, as it was our only season in the third tier of English football, and the financial meltdown the previous summer meant we only registered five League victories all season, which given the turmoil was an achievement in itself. Our attendances suffered due to the high percentage of all ticket games, so I purchased my Swansea City v Barnet ticket…… at the Vetch. 1-0 was the first score, the Jacks making slightly heavy weather of their victory, and cruised to a two nil victory in Wales. Unsurprisingly the Bees were relegated with the Swans finishing mid table, but it was a memorable season, as the Swans played at Wembley for the first time, drawing1-1 with Huddersfield in the Autoglass Final. I will always remember the subsequent penalty shootout when Roger Freestone saved and celebrated as wildly as if Jules Rimet was his prize.
Ben Strevens Tonbridge has been blogging again, and recently completed an interesting interview with Ben Strevens. Initially Ben was injured the day he turned up for a trial at Underhill.

John Still reassured him that they’d been monitoring his progress at Wingate and Finchley for a while. Seems like only the other day that Ben was able to start shaving, and I even remember further back as he competed as a schoolboy in St Marys Hendon, but now he manages Eastleigh, and comes across well in the interview as approachable, personable and able to laugh at his mistakes.
First Impressions 5th September 1998, I first visited Stockport, so twenty years nearly to the day. That day should bring back nightmares for Bees fans, as Barnet were thrashed 9-1 at home by Peterborough, so presumably Final Score printed NINE in brackets. I listened to the unfolding debacle from the Main Stand on Hardcastle Road, as local radio kept updating on the Bees growing pain. Honestly can’t remember the Stockport result, but it was a busy day, as I left early and travelled on to Liverpool. Wales were playing Italy at Anfield, the Millennium Stadium under construction at the time. Unusually Our Rhian did not attend the match, as she could have saved me from a threatening Scouse urchin. “Look after yer car for ya Mister” he ordered as I approached Anfield. I pointed out that I had completed my journey by taxi, but this was not enough for the delinquent. Translated into the Scouse “look after yer car” means” hand over a tenner now, or there is a brick with your name written on it”. True I was wearing driving gloves, but it was a cold day. I stopped short of singing Cilla’s famous b side “oh you are a mucky kid”. Now Scouse Urchin may be a successful Captain of Industry, waiting to appear on the Apprentice. If so he is a happy one, given the current Liverpool form..
Unbeaten Corries Miserable as the Peterborough performance was, I observed worse recently, the first ever competitive Brecon derby when Brecon Corinthians made the shortest of journeys to Brecon Northcote, to crush them 8-0. No reports of any fighting on the streets of my county town, or excitable Brecon youth larging it in the classrooms of Penmaes School or Christ College the following Monday morning.

Former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara has said that he is trying to “take away the cloud” that is hanging around Billericay, which has recently been taken over by a new local consortium. This comes after former chairman, and multi millionaire, Glenn Tamplin, left the club, after having had lots of controversy during his time at the club, including sacking and reappointing managers after short periods of time, and appointing himself as manager. With Tamplin taking over Romford, resulting in his not being able to return to the Ricay, a new group have taken over the Essex club. Tamplin, who was voted the second most powerful person in the county of Essex in 2017, made some high profile signings for the side, including O’Hara, Jermaine Pennant and Paul Konchesky. “Glenn had the whole country talking about a non-league team”, said O’Hara. “At the end of the day it went really well. Yes, we had big names and people were getting paid good money, but we had a great team spirit and won things.”
Steven Pressley has become the latest casualty on the managerial sackings list, having been dismissed by League 2 side Carlisle United. He leaves the side in 19th place, five points off of the relegation zone, and with just five league wins all season. However, the club have won two out of their last three games in all competitions. The 46 year old only joined the side in mid January. “Steven has given his all and has worked tirelessly since the day he joined us”, said club chairman Andrew Jenkins, in a statement. “We understand the challenges and have supported him throughout, but we haven’t seen the evidence of progress we expected or needed to see. This is not something we can allow to continue, so sadly it is time to change, move on and look forward”. The former centre back previously played for Rangers, Dundee United, Heart of Midlothian, Celtic and the Scotland national team, and also managed the likes of Falkirk, Coventry City and Pafos.

What’s the Buzz? After this stage, there are three more rounds before a two legged semi final, then the coveted Wembley final.
Having lost former manager Jim Bentley last week, Morecambe have announced their new manager. Former boss Bentley initially signed for the club back in 2002, as a player, where he played over 300 times, scoring over 30 times, before stepping up to the managers post in 2011, meaning that he spent over 17 years at the club in total, before joining AFC Fylde last week. Their replacement is Derek Adams, the former Ross County player and manager. He joins having most recently managed at Plymouth Argyle, where, in his four years at the club, he led them to a League 2 playoff final, an automatic promotion to League 1, and a relegation back to League 2 last season, which ultimately led to his sacking at the end of last season. With the second round proper having taken place two weeks ago, and the next round set to be taking place in two weekends time, the draw for the third round proper of the FA Vase has taken place. Leighton Town are to host Eastbourne Town, Southall will travel to Deal Town, and Welling Town are on the road at Chatham Town. Sutton Common Rovers are away to Lancing, Stansted are going to Stowmarket Town and Worcester City, founder members of the National League, are at home to Shepshed Dynamo.

Enfield Town are at home to the winner of the replay between Maldon and Tiptree and Folkestone Invicta, St Albans City are away at Welling United, Wealdstone will host Royston Town, and Haringey Borough will host Hemel Hempstead Town. These ties are set to be played next weekend. The draw for the first round proper, where Barnet enter, is due to be made on Monday 25th November, with those ties being played on the weekend of 14th December.
League 1 side Southend United have been handed their fourth winding up petition of 2019, by HM Revenue & Customs. They are due in court on 4th December, the second time in the past three months. The side find themselves in 23rd position in the division, having lost 14 out of their opening 17 league games, winning just once. They are only saved from the bottom spot by Bolton Wanderers, who have -2 points, having started the campaign with -12 points. This is just another in a long series of the Essex side being chased through the courts for money, with having numerous events of it over the past decade.

Southend United have punished defender Harry Lennon after he was filmed going out to a pub and celebrating with some Dover Athletic players, after the Shrimpers 1-0 defeat at the Crabble in the FA Cup on Sunday. The 24 year old was recorded going to the bar with the Dover players, who were celebrating their upset win, whilst still wearing his Southend tracksuit. The Essex side, who are managed by former Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal player Sol Campbell, currently sit second bottom of League 1, having won just two out of their 22 games in all competitions all season. The former Charlton Athletic, Cambridge United and Gillingham player has been punished by being demoted from their first team to their under 23 side. Cambridge United defender Louis John has left the club, and resigned for his former club Sutton United. Born in Croydon, he signed for Crawley Town in 2012. After a short loan spell there, he signed permanently for Sutton in 2014. After a series of loan spells away from Gander Green Lane, including at Lewes, Metropolitan Police, Hemel Hempstead Town, Hampton and Richmond Borough and Ebbsfleet United, he signed for Cambridge in 2018, signing his first professional
Having brought out Isthmian League Division One North side Romford last week, controversial multi millionaire Glenn Tamplin has already caused controversy, even in his first 24 hours at the club. At Billericay, he regularly sacked managers before rehiring them shortly after, signed several high profile, former Premier League players, and appointed himself manager. He left the Essex side earlier in the year, reportedly as he and his family were receiving abuse. He now takes over Romford, where he has already signed fifteen new players, sacked the clubs’ manager, and made himself the manager as well as chairman, similar to his actions at the Ricay.

Macclesfield Town are currently being investigated by the EFL, after recent allegations that the club has not paid wages to players and staff. The allegations have been made by the PFA and from the players themselves. This comes after the club failed to pay its’ staff for the 10th time. Despite this, the EFL were able to secure the payments of some of the wages for the players of the League 2 club for the period of between July and September, through the use of solidarity and basic award payments. Some of the players went on strike ahead of last weekends 4-0 home defeat to Kingstonian in the FA Cup first round. The side currently sit in 15th place in League 2, seven points off of the relegation zone.

An Okem Chime double cancelled out Joe Dearman and Richard-Noel strikes for the visitors but Tompkins rose highest in added time to seal a famous victory for Dan Senda’s side. The young Bees made the perfect start as Chime swept home George Murphy’s cross to make sure he continued his streak of scoring in every round of the FA Youth Cup. Moments later Chime was in again but on this occasion, the linesman raised his flag for offside, as the Bees looked to double their advantage in the opening 10 minutes. Up the other end after 15 minutes the U’s looked to respond, but Jake Battersby’s effort sailed over the crossbar. But almost immediately after the Bees had a golden chance to score a second of the evening, as Chime held the ball up well before slotting in Steven Bala who’s shot was well saved by Louis Chadwick. The next chance fell the way of Chime as he exchanged passes well before bending a shot that was again well stopped by the U’s ‘keeper. As the half hour mark approached we almost saw a wonder-goal as Finlay Titchmarsh struck a sweet effort from 30 yards but it flew inches past the post and into the side netting. It would have been some strike from the young Bees midfielder. The visitors levelled on 33 minutes as Joe Dearman slotted past Aymen Azaze to bring the U’s back into the contest. With five minutes to play before the break, Chime let fly from the edge of the box, but yet again his effort was palmed away by Chadwick, from the resulting attack Chime then saw an effort blocked away for a corner. 41

Into the second half and the visitors should have taken the lead as Thomas Dickens peeled away at the back post from a free-kick but couldn’t quite make contact. Up the other end, it was the Bees turn to miss guilt-edged chance as George Murphy fired wide when through on goal. Azaze was called into action as he had to turn Simper’s effort round the post afer the midfielder tried his luck from 25 yards out. From the resulting corner kick, the visitors played a routine from the training ground only to see a powerful effort smash the upright and the follow-up sail harmlessly over the bar. It was that Chime again minutes later! As the striker slotted home to give the Bees the lead once again, the striker who made his first-team debut on Sunday showing everyone why he’s so highly rated at the Club. But the lead didn’t last long as the U’s levelled again as Richard-Noel got himself on the scoresheet to make it two each in an entertaining cup tie. The introduction of Wraynel Hercules gave the Bees pace on the break and he slotted in Murphy who looked to square it but he got his feet tangled and the chance went begging as the game approached the final 10 minutes. As extra-time loomed the Bees found a dramatic late winner as Ben Tompkins flicked a header over the ‘keeper and into the net to spark jubilant scenes on the touchline and a mass bundle in the corner!! The Bees will now travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on AFC Bournemouth in the Third Round as a reward to their excellent run so far.
