JANUARY BARNET SUPPORTERS’ ASSOCIATION PLAYER OF THE MONTH
SAM B EA R D
DEAN BRENNAN
HEAD COACH DEAN BRENNAN Dean, it is a quick turnaround for Tuesday night‘s game under the lights against King’s Lynn Town. How is preparation going for it? “Yes, training has been solid. We still have some players who need some treatment though which is not ideal though. “We want to build on Saturday’s performance although Tuesday’s game is not going to be easy. “King’s Lynn have been very solid since Tommy has taken charge. They have only lost by one goal in recent games.” There are plenty of positives to build on from Torquay. What are you looking to take from that match into Tuesday night? “We had high energy levels and were a threat going forward all afternoon, even in the first-half against the wind. “We have got to be more consistent in how our performances. Consistency is what we are looking for.” What do you think we could be doing to stop leaking so many goals, especially in key areas of the match? “You want a consistent defensive line and a consistent defensive midfield player. At the minute we are of filling those gaps because of injuries. “Harry Taylor has shown his leadership qualities playing out of position again and has been a good

player for us lately. “Teddy Howe, Ben Richards-Everton have both been positive performers as well. “We want to get a consistent selection in our backline. It is one department we do not want to be changing. “I am afraid it has been forced on us and people are going to have to do jobs for the team. This is the character we have to show.” We have brought in three signings. Are we still looking to bolster our squad in any way? “We are always looking to improve and recruitment is key to the business. “Our players have to be consistent and if they are not in this business, somebody takes your place.
opposition. We are at home and we have got to take the game to them.” Do you think it might provide a slightly different challenge to the one we faced on Saturday given that we are at home and where King’s Lynn are in the table? “Our home performances have got to improve because they have not been as good as we would have liked lately. “We have got to perform to a better level than what we have done so far at home over the last six or seven weeks. “We need to give our supporters something to cheer about and we have got to make our place in the fortress again.” How are we looking on the injury front?
“We want the boys to continue to perform like they did on Saturday.
“There might be one or two who could be back from injury, but we will find out closer to kickoff.
“We know we have the ability, and the key for us now is to sustain that high level of intensity.”
“Daniel, our physio, has done a great job. He has been working very hard behind the scenes to try and get the boys fit again.”
With the new signings, is it giving you a headache when it comes to team selections?
We are offering ‘Football for a Fiver’ which is a great initiative and a fantastic opportunity for the Bees fans to get behind the lads.
“Yes, it does affect your momentum and not many teams come out of Covid-19 and win games. “We have to get back to our old levels and be consistent in our performances.” Looking ahead to the match on Tuesday, what are you expecting? “Their performance levels have been good and they have been very competitive under the new manager. “We are going to have to be at our best and I cannot see it being anything other than a tight game. “What is important is that we go after the
“Yes, it is a brilliant gesture from Barnet Football Club. “We want the fans to get right behind us, but like I said, we need to give them something to sing about. “We want to flash balls into the area and get bodies in the box, but there is no doubt that King’s Lynn will try and stop that. “We must give our all for the supporters and get them right behind us with a high, intense performance.”

Kian, it has been a tricky period for you given that you were out injured for two months. Now you are back playing, how are you finding it? “Yes, I am buzzing to be back playing again. “I had eleven weeks out and it was a very tough period for me to get through. “There is nothing better now that I am back playing football.” What was that process like to get back to where you are now? “As it was an ankle injury, the rehab was very tricky for me to come through.
Lynn Town? “I remember it was very tough conditions and was very windy. “It was a close game and I cleared one off the line in the last minute. “Looking back on it, I do believe that we should have won that game.” There are plenty of positives to build on from Saturday’s draw at Torquay. What will you personally be taking from that into Tuesday’s match?
“I had to get an injection for it, which took a very long time.
“There were a lot of positives and even when we went 2-0 down, we knew we were going to get back into the game.
“About a week or two after the injection, I was allowed to come back in and train.
“Our character and our spirit was there to see and we are hoping to bring that into Tuesday.”
“Now I am back in the squad, it is down to me to perform well and keep my place in the team.”
What has competition been like for places lately because we have had three new signings come through the door?
You started and made an assist at Torquay United which must help your confidence levels?
“The three new signings are great lads and they played well at Plainmoor on Saturday.
“Yes, it definitely has and I hope it will be the first of a few more to come over our next few games.
“Competition for places is very healthy for us.
“It was a very tough match at Torquay United and it is a difficult place to go.
“We probably have two or three players for each position now.”
“We are pleased to have come away with a draw, although I felt that we should have won it at the end.
The Club are offering ‘football for a fiver’ which is a great initiative to put on for the fans. How much are you looking forward to playing in front of them under the lights?
“To comeback from two goals down away from home is positive for us.”
“I am looking forward to it and there should be a good atmosphere at The Hive London.
What are your initial expectations ahead of King’s Lynn Town on Tuesday night?
“Tickets for £5 is a fantastic offer for our supporters and we hope that they can continue to get right behind us.
“Our fans can be our twelfth man and they certainly help “We are going into the game with a positive attitude and will be looking to win the three points after a 1-1 draw last time at in games, especially at home. their place. “We hope to give them something to sing about and look forward to seeing them soon.” “King’s Lynn are a well-drilled side and we will be expecting a tough game. “We know that we have the ability to match them and come away with a win. “We are very confident heading into Tuesday evening.” What do you remember from the last match against King’s

THE OPPOSITION
TODAY’S OPPOSITION
Early league action saw Lynn play in the Norfolk & Suffolk League and, additionally, the East Anglian League winning the former on eight occasions. Football in those days had something of a charm to it in that the outcome was never too certain. Indeed on more than one occasion it is recorded that the visiting team refused to complete the match for fear of missing the train home. It wasn’t until the 1935-36 season that Lynn changed competitions by joining the Eastern Counties League and also the East Midlands League.. After the Second World War Lynn played in the United Counties League but on turning “professional” (the players were paid) for the 1948-49 season they moved back to the Eastern Counties League and achieved the league and league cup double in the 1953 54 season. A brief spell in the Midland League where they played such “Midlands based” teams as Rotherham and Scarborough, This, in terms of the league pyramid, was the highest level Lynn achieved. They joined the Southern League for the 1958-59 season. Lynn’s geographical position and the structure of the non-league competitions has always meant a fair degree of travelling whether it be to Taunton and Poole or Gateshead and Workington. A restructuring of the league at the end of the 1979-80 saw Lynn transferred to the Northern Premier
League. This was quite a remarkable promotion as the 79-80 season saw us finish eighth in the Midland Division of the Southern League. Not surprisingly the first season in the Northern Premier League was a struggle with Lynn finishing 19th. The following season saw a very creditable 5th followed by a 9th with the consolation of winning the Northern Premier League President’s Cup. Unfortunately it was a trophy we were never allowed to defend as Lynn were moved back to Southern League for the 1983-84 season. Their return south saw them finish in sixth place and the following season they finished runners-up, the promotion contest being decided on the last day of the season. There then followed a number of very disappointing seasons with Lynn being relegated to the Midland Division at the end of the 1986-87 season. Further relegation might have followed but for other teams either opting for other leagues or going out of business. Promotion from the Southern League Eastern Division was won in the 2003-04 season but failure to win a play-off against the Western Division champions, Redditch United, resulted in Lynn taking a place in the Southern League Premier-which as a result on re-organisation, was just as far away from the Nationwide Conference as before. The 2005-06, and 2006-07 seasons saw Lynn reach the play-offs for the Conference regional leagues but once again just couldn’t achieve

the final step upwards. Then in 2007-08 Lynn achieved the success they deserved winning the Southern League title on the last day of theseason with a 2-0 win at Merthyr Tydfil to put them clear of second placed Team Bath by two points, and so they joined Conference North. Their time at the higher level was not to last, however. Despite finishing their first Conference North season in 17th place the club were demoted over a ground grading issue.
a while, it is mentioned in the club handbook of 1968. There is, however, no evidence from newspapers of the time to support this. What might have happened is that someone came across a newspaper article from the Lynn Advertiser published in April 1901. The newspaper previewed the forthcoming FA Amateur Cup Final against Crook Town but there was also a column in which Mr R W Street recalls: “I think it was in 1879 that I joined and became secretary of the club in connection with the Lynn CEYMS. A few months after this one or two of us conceived of resuscitating the old Town Club, which had some years previously died a natural death.“
The following season saw Lynn in the Northern Premier (UniBond) League but they did not finished the season being wound up in the High Court in December 2009 owing HMRC £77,000. After a bidding process, the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk awarded the lease of The Walks Stadium to the company running the speedway stadium and the club was reformed as Lynn FC.
Unfortunately this involved the break up of the CEYMS eleven, but the result was considered worth the sacrifice.”
The club began life in the United Counties League with promotion b eing achieved to the Northern Premier League Division One (Southern) in 2012 and to the Northern Premier League Premier Division the following season. Lynn returned to Step 2 of the non-league pyramid at the end of the 2018-19 season via the play-off and a back-to-back promotion saw them promoted to Step 1 in the 2019-20 season that was prematurely ended by the global pandemic COVID-19.
It is now clear that Mr Street was a player and secretary of Lynn CEYMS and then took the same roles with King’s Lynn FC on its creation in 1881, giving a better interpretation of “a few months after”.
The idea that the club’s origins date back from 1879 has been around
Now, with the ability to acccess online resources such as the British Newspaper Archive, finding information about the club can throw more light on its creation and give a more accurate history.

SUPPORTERS Association
In the Community
BARNET FC Supporters association Hello, my name is Keith Doe and I am a lifelong Barnet supporter. I supported the Bees long before my first ever game as I used to look out for the results on Grandstand and read the match report in the Barnet Times, Advertiser or Independent. My first game was in the season we won promotion to the Football League for the first time. At home to Northwich Victoria, I think we won by a couple of goals, but whatever the score, I was hooked and went to all the remaining home games that season and my first ever away game - Fisher Athletic. Having seen Barnet win promotion many times, been relegated far too many times and seen the hope always return when you know deep down it is just that - hope, I understand what it takes to follow this Club. I was a Chairman of the original BFCSA before it became a Trust and I believe that a strong Supporters’ Association is invaluable for this football club. As Chairman my key aim was to build a close working relationship with the Club - which was achieved. I believe that we made great strides forward both on and off the pitch. We as supporters need and deserve a voice which needs to be listened to. We need to help the Club continuously improve in everything that it does, but we also have the right to hold the Club accountable for its actions and decisions. Already the new BFCSA has been able
to build a firm relationship with the Chairman and the Club that is based on trust and honesty. The Club is listening to us and we are seeing changes (Neck Oil for one). But this isn’t just about the here and now, but the future too. I want there to be a Barnet FC for my kids to watch as they grow up and would like them to feel the same love for the Club that I do. I hope they make friendships that will last a lifetime and hopefully see us play at Wembley. Supporting Barnet FC has been one of the best life choices I ever made. I have experienced so many amazing days and weekends away with friends, followed PF’s England C across Europe and have the honour to call ex-players very close friends. I feel that as a supporter of this Club I can make a small difference but as supporters of this Club collectively we can really make a huge difference. I also urge supporters to join the Association, help us all have a louder voice and work together with the Club for the fun and enjoyable times to return. Good luck to Dean Brennan and the team tonight! The BFCSA wishes Dean all the very best in his new role as Head Coach. We are fully behind you, your staff and the players. COME ON BARNET!

HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH king’s lynn town
HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH
king’s lynn town The Bees have played the current King’s Lynn Town, which was founded in 2010, on only three occasions. However, they also had 19 first team matches against the former club, King’s Lynn FC, which played at the same ground, The Walks. The games against the former club were all in the Southern League and the Southern League Cup between 1966 and 1976. In addition, the clubs met in the Eastern Professional Floodlight Competition during the 1960s and 1970s, but they were not really first team matches. Taking all 22 first team matches together (against King’s Lynn and King’s Lynn Town), Barnet have won on seven occasions, the Linnets on 13, and there have been two draws. At home, the Bees’ record is rather better, with five wins and six defeats. So far, there has not been a goalless draw, home or away.
Current Bee Adam Marriott has played for both teams in this fixture and scored for the Linnets against Barnet in February 2021 (he played for Eastleigh against the Bees last season, as well). Adam received a warm reception from the King’s Lynn fans at the game earlier this season when he came on as a substitute. Michael Gash has also represented both clubs and played for King’s Lynn in this fixture, scoring two goals (he has also scored for Kidderminster against the Bees). Michael played 55 games for the Bees, scoring 13 goals between January 2015 and August 2016. He was part of the 2014/15 promotion winning team.
Barnet have yet to beat the new club, King’s Lynn Town. Last season, the Linnets did the double over the Bees, winning 2-0 at The Hive London and 5-1 at the Walks. This season Dean Brennan’s side drew 1-1 away. Ephron MasonClark is the only Bee to have played in all three games against King’s Lynn Town. In games against the original King’s Lynn, Les Eason scored five times and Lou Adams and Bobby Moss both scored three, with Moss’ goals being a hat-trick in 1974 in a game Barnet lost (see “Classic encounter”). The largest attendance at home was 2,022 in the very first meeting between the two in December 1966. The record at The Walks is 1,870 later the same season. The Bees’ most recent game against the Linnets was a Tuesday evening game, away, in October 2021. Joe Widdowson opening the scoring for the Bees early on, but the Linnets had drawn level before half-time through Michael Clunan. Sam Sargeant saved a penalty in the second half and despite gilt-edge chances for both sides at the death, the game finished all square. The Bees team was: Sam Sargeant, Jordan Thomas, Ben Richards-Everton, Harry Taylor, Joe Widdowson, Mitch Brundle, Kian Flanagan, Wes Fonguck (Josh Payne), Rob Hall (Daniel Powell), Ephron Mason-Clark, Mason Bloomfield (Adam Marriott).

CLASSIC ENCOUNTER WITH
THE LINNETS
On Tuesday 10th September 1974, the Bees and the former King’s Lynn played out a nine-goal thriller in a Southern League Cup First Round replay at Underhill. The Linnets won by the odd goal: a significant scalp for the First Division team over their Premier Division rivals. It followed a 3-0 win in the first leg at home by Barnet and a 3-0 defeat in the second leg at The Walks.
King’s Lynn went through to play Hillingdon Borough in the second round of the competition. Teams: Bees: Jack McClelland, Ian Fusedale, Dave Bibby, Steve Tom, Gordon Ferry, Ben Embery, David Court, Steve Webb, Bobby Moss, Billy Holmes, Dave Bristow. King’s Lynn: Haistead, Gribble, Johnston, Richards, Smith, Wright, Reynolds, McCullum, Perry, Lindsay, Easthall. Attendance: 497.
Bobby Moss opened the scoring for the Bees when he was the first to reach a Billy Holmes pass that the Linnets’ defender Smith left for his goalkeeper. However, King’s Lynn hit back with two goals to take the lead. First, Freddie Easthall capitalised on Ben Embery’s back pass and Jack McClelland’s slip. Then Stewart Reynolds and Eastham exchanged passes before the former found the Barnet net. Barnet got two more before the break to go in 3-2 ahead. Moss scored both goals with his head to complete his hattrick. The first was courtesy of a David Court cross and the second resulted from good work by Court and Ian Fusedale. The Linnets were back on level terms 15 minutes into the second half when Malcolm Lindsay picked up Gribble’s punt forward and ran 40 yards to shoot past McClelland. The Bees went ahead for the third time (4-3) when Fusedale scored from the spot after Mick Wright handled the ball. But it was the Linnets who eventually ran out winners as Reynolds gathered Richards’ pass and slotted home. Then after 84 minutes, Lindsay accepted Perry’s through ball to make it 5-4.

ON THIS day 2 years ago (2020): The Bees won 1-0 away to Chorley in the Vanarama National League. The only goal came from Paul McCallum in the second minute. It was his first start for the Bees and he eventually scored five times in seven games. The attendance was 925. Shortly after, the Covid-19 pandemic struck and the season was curtailed. Barnet made the playoffs and Chorley were relegated.
8 years ago (2014): Playing away at Wrexham, the Bees achieved a 1-0 victory. A crowd of 2,925 saw Jake Hyde score for the Bees. It was Barnet’s first year back in the Vanarama National League and they eventually finished eighth; Wrexham finished in 17th.
14 years ago (2008): Southend United beat the Bees 2-1 at Roots Hall in a fourth-tier Football League game. The Shrimpers were 2-0 up by half-time, but Steve Kabba scored a consolation goal for the Bees at the end. A total of 5,501 fans saw the action.
25 years ago (1997): Barnet held Fulham to a 2-2 draw in a fourth-tier game at home. Lee Hodges and Paul Wilson scored for the Bees, who led twice but ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils. The crowd was 3,316. Fulham ended that season in second and were promoted, while Barnet were 15th. Fulham are now top of the Championship. Cardiff City, Hull City and Swansea City, who are also currently in the Championship, were also in Barnet’s division that season, along with Brighton & Hove Albion (now in the Premier League), who were saved from relegation on the last day of the season.
30 years ago (1992): Rotherham United beat the Bees 3-0 in Yorkshire in front of a crowd of 3,076. It was Barnet’s first season in the Football League. They eventually finished seventh, while the Millers were promoted after finishing second. Compiled by “59 Years A Bee”

CURRENTLY The Bees came from two goals down to win a point at Torquay United on Saturday - drawing 2-2. The last time the team came back from being behind to get something out of a game was at Woking in November 2021 - a game the Bees won 2-1. The most recent occasion that the Bees recovered from being two down and gained a point was, curiously, away to Torquay United in May 2021. Like Saturday’s match, that game also ended 2-2. The average age of the Barnet starting XI against Torquay was 24 years and 194 days. The average age of the team on the opening day of the season was 25 years 222 days, and of course, the four players who played in both games are now six months older. Four players have made their first team debut in the latest two fixtures. Ryan De Havilland made his debut in the home game against Wealdstone (coming on as a substitute), although he had played against Hayes & Yeading United in the Middlesex FA Senior Challenge Cup. Three players made their first appearance for the club away at Torquay United on Saturday. Loan signings Reece Grego-Cox and Ross Marshall both started, with Louis Walsh coming on as a substitute in the second half. In total, 23 players have made their first appearance for the club this season. Last season, 28 players made their Barnet debut. The attendance against Wealdstone (2,248) was the highest of the season at home, 11 higher than for the Wrexham game. Wealdstone brought the second highest number of away fans, a record still held by Wrexham. Barnet go into tonight’s game with three wins and four defeats, plus one draw, in their last eight home games. King’s Lynn Town have two wins and eight defeats in their most recent eight away games.

ALDERSHOT TOWN AWAY AWAY POSTCARD POSTCARD TORQUAY UNITED Last Saturday we had a short trip for the game against Aldershot Town. Due to it being quite far Since Torquay is such a long trip, my parents and I decided to make a weekend of it. They travelled down from from Leeds, my parents came to stay with me in London the night before. We set off around Leeds to London on Thursday night before we all embarked on a journey to Devon around at 11:00 on Friday 11:00 on Saturday morning with the intention of getting lunch before the game. We arrived in morning. We took the M4 across to the West and were faced with some fallen trees and closed roads on the way Aldershot around 12:30 and found parking up by the away end. As we were heading into the - caused by Storm Eunice. After a long day on the road, we finally arrived in Torquay around at 18:00. Despite the town, we bumped into fellow Bees Mark and Adam who joined us in Wetherspoons for a few weather warnings in that part of the world, we were relieved that it was pretty mild - meaning we could enjoy our drinks and lunch. We headed back to the ground around 14:00 and as we arrived, we were told Friday night in Torquay without the worry of a wasted trip! On Saturday morning there was some heavy rain the usual away end was shut so we had parked all the way up the hill for nothing! We went especially as we walked up towards the ground but thankfully it died down and started to brighten up by lunchtime. inside and joined other fans on the away terrace ready for kick-off. We went to Torquay’s club house, which was really nice, to watch the early kick-off before walking round to the away end at around 14:15. We took our seats with the other Bees fans who had made the trip ready for kick-off. We got off to a great start as just five minutes into the game, Adam Marriott gave us the lead when he got on the end of a lovely cross from Rob Hall. 11 minutes later, we doubled our The start of the game wasn’t ideal as just nine minutes in Torquay took the lead through Connor Lemonheigh-Evadvantage with a super strike from Sam Beard into the roof of the net. We carried on the half ans. Torquay continued to press and were able to double their lead in the 27th minute when Lemonheigh-Evans strongly with some brilliant chances and went into half-time 2-0 up. At the interval I went for got on the end of a corner for the hosts. However, we were prepared to fight back and just 10 minutes later were the usual hot chocolate but shout-out to Aldershot who gave me cream and a flake on the top back in the game! On his debut Reece Grego-Cox provided an assist for Adam Marriott to slot into the net. After too! The second-half started very well too with Adam Marriott getting his second of the the usual half-time hot chocolate, I was ready for the second half hoping we could get another goal. On 60 afternoon eight minutes in. Aldershot had a few more chances but Harry Taylor made some minutes my wish was granted and the away end was buzzing when Ephron Mason-Clark produced a lovely finish excellent tackles to stop any danger. We carried on attacking and were unlucky not to add to to put us level and back in the game! We continued well in the second half with chances from Marriott, Ryan De our tally. Four minutes were added at the end of the game and unfortunately Aldershot got one Havilland and new signing Louis Walsh. Torquay also had some chances, but we were solid at the back. Six back in the 93rd minute, but the whistle blew soon after and we had our three points. The boys minutes were added at the end and we came so close to stealing all three points through strikes from Louis Walsh came over to a lot of well-deserved praise from the fans who were in good voice all afternoon. and Daniel Powell, but the Torquay ‘keeper kept it out. The points were shared and the away end gave the boys a good reception and they showed their appreciation for the travelling fans. My parents and I walked back up the massive hill where we had parked and set off back to London where we arrived around 18:00. It made a nice change as every time we’ve been to My parents and I headed back into Torquay’s town centre where we spent the evening having a few drinks, eating Aldershot before, it’s been a trip back up to Leeds! We had a takeaway and got to enjoy a and enjoying not being on the road for once! On Sunday we had the afternoon at the seaside for a go on the Saturday night in London to top off a brilliant day in Aldershot. penny machines, some fish and chips and an ice cream. Just as we were leaving for London, the heavens opened which made me thankful that we’d been lucky with the weather and our game went ahead! We headed back on the M4 again and were back in London around 20:30 after another five hours on the road. My parents stayed in London leaving the final leg of their journey back to Leeds for Monday morning. After all that travelling, I’m very relieved the storm didn’t get in the way of our game! It was a good point on the road and the lads showed fight to come back from two goals down.

WHAT’S THE Buzz
WHAT’S THE Buzz Dagenham & Redbridge have dropped French defender Yoan Zouma after the recent incident involving the player and his brother. A video was shared online of Yoan and Kurt Zouma of West Ham United kicking and slapping their pet cat. The Daggers has said that the former Angers, Bolton Wanderers, Barrow and Altrincham player will not be featuring for the East London side until at least the conclusion of the RSPCA investigation. Whilst the video shows the Premier League star Kurt kicking, Yoan is reportedly the one to have filmed the incident. Chesterfield’s Kabongo Tshimanga is set to have an extended period on the sideline. The prolific striker will undergo surgery on the injury that he sustained last week.
The Frenchman had only joined the side in December and had made six appearances.
The 24-year-old picked up a fractured leg and dislocated ankle in a challenge with Weymouth defender Haji Mnoga during the fixture between the two sides on Saturday 12th February. Danny Webb, the Spireites assistant manager, has said that there is no timescale for his return and the extent of the injury could lead to ligament damage uncovered during his treatment. Tshimanga has scored 24 goals so far for the side.
New regulations will see EFL clubs potentially docked points if they fail to pay their players on time. These regulations also state that clubs should self-report if they have failed to pay their own players’ wages within two working days of the scheduled payment date. These new rules were brought into effect after an extraordinary general meeting of the EFL last Thursday, where it was approved. The League said that it has brought in these new measures following numerous instances of clubs failing to pay their players in recent seasons. Also approved was the arrangement to open the EFL summer domestic transfer window so that it will now be in line with the international transfer window, meaning that it will open 12 weeks before the closure of the registration window, instead of the day after the end of the season.

WHAT’S THE Buzz
Swindon Town are trying to locate a young supporter who sent the club 26p in a letter last week. The Wiltshire-based club shared on their social media pages images of a letter written by six-year-old Joe to player Harry McKirdy saying that he’s unable to attend games as his family can’t afford to. The club said that there was no return address, so are appealing to anyone who may know him. With the two sides playing at the weekend, Forest Green Rovers Chairman Dale Vince said that he would pay for him to be a mascot at the game if he could be found in time.
Mark Devlin has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of League Two side Leyton Orient. He replaces Danny Macklin, with Devlin most recently spending time at Huddersfield Town in a similar position, having previously held roles at Swindon Town, Queens Park Rangers, Brentford and Dundalk. He joins Orient as they sit in 16th place in the fourth tier. The O’s have won seven and drawn 12 out of their opening 29 league games, losing the remaining 12 - not including the weekend’s fixtures. This leaves them on 33 points, seven from the relegation zone and 15 off of the lowest promotion spot.
League One side Burton Albion side have signed former Premier League player Oumar Niasse. Having started out his career at US Ouakam in his native Senegal, where he scored 102 goals in 154 league matches, the 31-yearold forward then went on loan to Brann in Norway. He then spent time in Turkey with Akhisar Belediyespor and Russia with Lokomotiv Moscow before joining Everton in February 2016. He went on to score nine times in 42 appearances over five years with the club, plus loan stints at Hull City and Cardiff City, both in the Premier League at the time. In March 2021 he joined Huddersfield Town following a trial, although never made an appearance and has been a free agent since the summer. He also scored three times in nine games for Senegal between 2013 and 2018, as well as six Under 23 caps.

MATCH Report
MATCH Report THE BEES CAME FROM BEHIND TO EARN A POINT ON THE ROAD – DRAWING 2-2 AT TORQUAY UNITED IN THE VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE. The hosts had the first attempt at goal in the 4th minute as Stephen Duke-McKenna’s cross from the right flank caused trouble in the box. Tom Lapslie latched onto the loose ball and fired over the crossbar from a central position. Torquay broke the deadlock in the 9th minute as Connor Lemonheigh-Evans pounced on Sam Woods’ failed clearance and rifled it in off the underside of the crossbar. The Bees went close in the 22nd minute when Ryan De Havilland’s corner was flicked out to the edge of the box by Harry Taylor to Kian Flanagan, who drilled it narrowly past the post. Oxborough was called into action shortly after as he spread himself well to deny Lemonheigh-Evans’s shot after he got on the end of Armani Little’s cut back. Gary Johnson’s side doubled their lead in the 27th minute as Duke-McKenna’s inviting cross into the centre of the box found Lemonheigh-Evans who converted from close-range to score his second of the afternoon. The visitors pulled one back before half-time as Ephron Mason-Clark threaded through Reece Grego-Cox. The Bees’ newest recruit took advantage of a defensive error and squared the ball to Marriott who tucked it into an empty net. Dean Brennan’s side were on level terms in the 60th minute after Flanagan played a quick pass out to Ephron MasonClark who looked up and bent his shot into the top corner beyond Shaun MacDonald. Flanagan’s looping cross which dropped just wide of the post and Marriott’s strike over the bar was the closest the Bees went in the following 10 minutes.
In the 89th minute Gary Johnson’s side almost retook the lead as Little’s free-kick from 20-yards out flew just past the frame of the goal. The Bees had a huge chance to win the match late on as Marriott broke away and played through Louis Walsh who darted towards goal and had his powerful shot saved by the Torquay stopper. In the closing stages Daniel Powell rifled the ball goalwards from distance and forced MacDonald into a save – leaving the Bees to settle for a point at Plainmoor.
