DEAN BRENNAN
HEAD COACH DEAN BRENNAN Dean, it has been a strange week given that Tuesday night’s game postponed. How has that affected preparations for Saturday’s game?
manager and have serious pace on the wide areas.
“I think it is an advantage for us that the Northwood game was postponed.
“Our supporters will know Alfie Pavey from his time here as well. He is good in the air and can be a challenge with his back to goal.
“The weather worked in our favour this week which has given us some more time to get some players back fit.
“Dover will defend deeper and make it difficult for us, so we are going to have to get after them and play on the front foot.
“It has allowed people like Jamie Turley to have more time to recover from his injury. “He trained fully with the squad today but will not be ready for our match against Dover Athletic.
“We need to ask questions of them defensively and we are going to have to be solid ourselves.
“We trained on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, because the game was off on Tuesday. “Training has been brilliant and we are looking forward to the match.” Dover are in a difficult position in the league table, but what threats do you think they will provide on Saturday? “They have a lot of pace and Andy Hessenthaler has them well organised. “When looking at their recent defeats, they have been competitive in all of their games. “They are a decent outfit, with a very good
“We need to make sure we do not give away any free-kicks and hopefully we can get the result that we need.” How important is the mentality of the players in a game like this given Dover’s position in the league table? “I think that is the key really. We are going to be the favourites in this game so we just need to perform like we know we can do. “The last three games we have performed well, and we did not deserve to lose at Halifax last weekend. “We showed great character away at Torquay and I felt that we should have beaten King’s Lynn at home.
DEAN BRENNAN
“We are looking forward to Saturday’s game and we will play with a lot of energy. “We have to get around the pitch as quick as we can and express ourselves when we have the ball.” It was a tight 2-1 win at Dover earlier on in the season. What do you remember from that occasion, when they showed great character to almost come back and equalise late on?
been another difficult year. “We are looking to finish the season strongly and will hope to start another positive run when Dover come to The Hive London.” Saturday will mark six years since Chris East sadly passed away and I know you will be going to the bus stop at 12 o’clock to pay your respects to him.
“I think that is the fight they have shown all season and they did have a great opportunity late on.
“Myself, the staff and our captain Jamie Turley are all going to go down to pay our respects. It is a sad occasion, but we remember Chris with fond memories.
“I felt that game we should have been out of sight because we had opportunities to go and kill the game off.
“Personally, I did not know him but I think it is so important that we do this as a management team and as players.
“If we can win 1-0 this Saturday then we will certainly take that.” You mentioned that we need to improve our home form in recent interviews, how do you feel like that can happen?
“We want to be inclusive of all of our supporters and that is very important going forward.”
“We need consistency in everything we do and have certainly struggled with consistency in our team selection. “We especially have not had much consistency with our defensive players which has been frustrating. “When we look back at when we did have consistency, we picked up a lot of points over that period. “We need to get back to that as soon as possible, but all you can do in this business is take one game at a time.” Our results have been frustrating lately but the supporters have been right behind us. How do we give them something to sing about on Saturday? “I think the supporters have seen the endeavour of our players over the last three games. “My job is to collectively bring the team together and make sure that we perform so that we win football matches. “Our supporters have been amazing, and like I say, it has
“We need to give our supporters something to cheer about and we have got to make our place in the fortress again.” How are we looking on the injury front? “There might be one or two who could be back from injury, but we will find out closer to kick-off. “Daniel, our physio, has done a great job. He has been working very hard behind the scenes to try and get the boys fit again.” We are offering ‘Football for a Fiver’ which is a great initiative and a fantastic opportunity for the Bees fans to get behind the lads. “Yes, it is a brilliant gesture from Barnet Football Club. “We want the fans to get right behind us, but like I said, we need to give them something to sing about. “We want to flash balls into the area and get bodies in the box, but there is no doubt that King’s Lynn will try and stop that. “We must give our all for the supporters and get them right behind us with a high, intense performance.”
WALKING FOOTBALL
WALKING football
BARNET OVER 50’S BARNET WALKING FOOTBALL TEAM It was another fabulous week of Walking Football at The Hive London! Our Tuesday and Friday sessions both had excellent turn outs and were great fun. It was a super Sunday for our teams in the Middlesex FA Central League as our 60s beat Feltham 2-0 & Power League Barnet 3-0. Our 50s also had a positive result as they beat Staines 3-0, with Simon Swinnerton scoring with three goals. We played nine matches with just one defeat which is something we will be looking to take into our next fixtures. Our Monday night curry club returned at the Regency Club Edgware which was a very enjoyable experience. We are now completing the paperwork on becoming an England affiliated club (FA Charter standard) which is an amazing recognition of the wonderful work we do both on and off the pitch! To join us email, BarnetWft@yahoo.com Our Walking Football sessions are on a Tuesday 19:30-20:30 and Friday 14:00-15:00. We wish Barnet FC all the best for this afternoon against Dover Athletic!
TODAY’S LOOK AHEAD
RYAN
DE HAVILLAND
TODAY’S LOOK AHEAD
Ryan, you have been playing in the first-team lately which you must be pleased by, but what has the mood been like around the whole group?
“We have all been working hard in training and I have been practicing extra with a few other lads to try and put things right.”
“The atmosphere in the group is positive despite our recent results and we have been keeping our heads up high.
We are back home this weekend as Dover Athletic come to The Hive London. What are your initial expectations of the match?
“We are always staying focused and looking where we can improve on in training so that we can put it right on the pitch.” You have had a few loan spells this season, how has that helped you? “I did not have a proper pre-season, so it was nice to be out on loan and getting consistent game time playing men’s football. “I was in Fulham’s academy, so I am not used to that. The loan moves this season has given me valuable experience. “Playing men’s football was really good for me to help try and work my way back into Barnet’s team.” What parts of men’s football do you feel like you were missing and needed ahead of your loan spells? “I think I needed the game management skills so that I know when to slow the game down and when to speed it up. “The general knowledge and experience of what to do in certain situations is crucial in men’s football and is important that I can continue to learn it.” We have a relatively young squad here at Barnet FC. What is it like to be in and around the group and how do some of the senior players help the younger lads? “Yes, we have a nice mixed group with the young lads and a few more experienced players. “It is a nice balance to have and all the players and staff are great to work with. “Everyone is able to learn from each other given the difference in experiences that we have had to get here.” You have played in quite a creative role since you have come in, but we have not had that killer instinct to take the advantage in games. What do you think needs to happen for that to change? “We just need to keep positive and keep doing what we have been trying to do.
“It is important that we can get back to winning ways this weekend and put in a positive performance for our fans to be happy with. “We are looking to run as hard as we can and show our quality when we have the opportunity to do so.” How important is our mentality in a game like this given where Dover are in the table? “Any game at this level is tough and the recent results across the league have shown that. “We need to treat Saturday’s match the same as any other and play to our strengths.” We have had some new additions come in recently. How has that been when it comes to competition for places? “It is always nice having competition for places and it helps you raise your performances so that you are in contention to play at the weekend. “Now I am back from my loan and in the squad, it is great to see everyone competing for places. “It is nice to have that competitive edge, especially in training. “On a personal level I am just looking to do what I normally do which is being a creative player.” Our supporters have been right behind us lately despite our frustrating results. How does their energy help you on the pitch on a Saturday afternoon? “We are all looking forward to be back playing at The Hive London on Saturday and hope that our fans can continue to get behind us. “It is a big game for us and their support can give all the players a lift on the pitch, so we hope to see them turn out in their numbers.”
THE OPPOSITION
TODAY’S OPPOSITION
Dover Athletic Football Club was formed in 1983 after the town’s previous club, Dover FC, folded due to its debts. The new club took Dover’s place in the Southern League Southern Division, with former Dover player Alan Jones as manager and a team consisting mainly of reserve players from the old club. Initially Athletic struggled, finishing second from bottom of the table in the 1984–85 season. In November 1985 Steve McRae, who had succeeded Jones a year earlier, was sacked and replaced by Chris Kinnear. Under Kinnear the club’s fortunes turned round, with two top-five finishes followed by the Southern Division championship, and with it promotion, in the 1987–88 season. The team started strongly in the Premier Division, finishing in sixth place at the first attempt, and then winning the championship in the 1989–90 season. The club was denied promotion to the Football Conference, however, as the Crabble Athletic Ground did not meet the standard required for that league. After finishing fourth and second in the subsequent two seasons, Dover won the title again in the 1992–93 season and this time were admitted to the Conference.
Although Dover finished in eighth place in their first season in the Conference, the following season saw the club struggling against relegation, and Kinnear was replaced at the helm by John Ryan – but his reign was a short one and he was dismissed when the club lost seven of its first eight matches in the 1995–96 season. The club then appointed former England international Peter Taylor as manager, but he was unable to steer the team away from the foot of the table, and Dover held onto their place in the Conference only because Northern Premier League runners-up Boston United failed to submit their application for promotion before the required deadline. Bill Williams took over as manager in 1997 and proved to be Dover’s most successful Conference manager, leading the club to the FA Trophy semi-finals in the 1997–98 season and a best ever league finish of sixth place in the 1999–2000 season. Williams left the club to take a senior position with Conference rivals Kingstonian in May 2001. By now the club was in severe financial difficulties, with a number of directors resigning and debts exceeding £100,000. Amid the crisis the entire board of directors resigned, forcing the club’s Supporters’ Trust to take over the running of the club, and manager Gary Bellamy was sacked after just six months in the job. Former Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall took over but was dismissed just three months later, with Clive Walker taking over in
THE OPPOSITION
March 2002 with the club rooted to the foot of the table. The club finished the season bottom of the Conference and was relegated back to the Southern League Premier Division. The club’s ongoing financial problems led to it entering a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), a process by which insolvent companies offset their debts against future profits, due to debts that were now estimated at £400,000. In Dover’s first season back in the Southern League Premier Division, the Whites finished in third place, albeit 17 points adrift of Tamworth, who claimed the one promotion place available that season. A poor start to the following season saw Walker replaced by Richard Langley. Dover finished the season in 19th place, before being switched to the Isthmian League Premier Division in the summer of 2004 following a re-organisation of the English football league system. The new season started with six successive defeats, which saw Langley sacked, and the financial problems continued, with the club coming within two months of being closed down. Dover were relegated to the Isthmian League Division One at the end of the season, but were saved from possible extinction in January 2005 when former director Jim Parmenter returned to head up a consortium that took over the club. Parmenter quickly sacked manager Steve Browne and convinced Clive Walker to return to the club to replace him, and also arranged for the club’s outstanding CVA debts to be cleared, putting the club on a firm financial footing for the first time in many years. Dover Athletic narrowly missed out on an immediate return to the Premier Division in the 2005–06 season, reaching the play-offs for promotion but losing out to Tonbridge Angels. The following season Dover again reached the play-offs but lost in the semi-final to Hastings United, after which Walker did not have his contract renewed and was replaced by former Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler. In his first season in charge he led the club to the Division One South championship and promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division.
The following season Dover won a second consecutive championship and thus gained promotion to Conference South. In the 2009–10 season, Dover reached the play-offs for promotion to the Conference National, but lost at the semi-final stage to Woking. The following season the club reached the third round of the FA Cup for the first time after wins over Kent rivals Gillingham in the first round and another League Two club, Aldershot Town, in the second round. Kinnear’s side finished 6th in the 2016/17 season but finished the year with some silverware, after beating Welling United FC 2-0 in the Kent Senior Cup Final. Chris Kinnear was replaced by Andy Hessenthaler in October 2018. In the 2012–13 season the club again reached the play-offs, but this time lost in the final to Salisbury City. The following season the team reached the second round of the FA Cup, losing 1–0 to Milton Keynes Dons, The last 16 of the FA Trophy, narrowly losing 3–2 to Eastleigh and made the play-offs once more. A 4–1 aggregate victory over Sutton United in the semi-final set up a match with fellow Kent team Ebbsfleet United in the final. On 10 May 2014, Dover beat Ebbsfleet 1–0 at Stonebridge Road with a goal from Nathan Elder enough to seal the club’s return to the top flight of non-league football for the first time since 2002. In the 2014–15 season Dover went on another FA Cup run, beating Morecambe 1–0 in the first round, then Cheltenham Town 1–0 in the second round to reach the third round proper for only the second time ever, but lost 4–0 at home to Premier League side Crystal Palace. The side went on to finish in 8th place in their first season back in the top-flight of non-league football. The following season, Kinnear built on the good work done previously and guided the side to a 5th place finish in the Vanarama National League. The side faced Forest Green Rovers in the play-offs, losing 1-0 at home in the first leg before drawing 1-1 in Gloucestershire to suffer an undeserved exit from the play-offs.

MANAGER
ANDY HESSENTHALER Whites’ Gaffer was appointed manager for a second time in October 2018. A combative midfielder on the pitch for the likes of Watford, Gillingham and Barnet, Hessenthaler had great success as Athletic’s player-manager between 2007 and 2010, winning back-to-back promotions to take Dover from the Ryman South division to the Conference South. After ending the 2009/10 season as runners-up in the second tier of nonleague, Hessenthaler returned to Gillingham as boss for two campaigns, steering the Gills to two consecutive eighth-place finishes in League Two. A third stint at Gillingham followed two seasons later, this time as assistant manager, a similar role he held at Leyton Orient the following year, before being made manager at Brisbane Road in 2016. Dismissed by the O’s later that same year, it wasn’t long before Hessenthaler was back in football, joining Eastleigh before the start of the 2017/18 season, initially as assistant manager, before taking over from Richard Hill as boss just eight months after joining the club. Hessenthaler left the Spitfires 15 games into the 2018/19 campaign to return to Dover following the departure of Chris Kinnear.
ADAM PARKES PARKES IS ON A SEASON-LONG LOAN FROM WATFORD The 21-year-old goalkeeper is on a season-long loan from Premier League side Watford. He has played in the National League previously, playing the final eight games of last season for Barnet. A former England under-17 representative, Parkes joined Watford from Southampton in January 2019. He has been a regular Watford’s under-23s team as well as travelling with the first-team squad and appearing on the bench during their successful promotion-winning campaign last season.
ryan hanson HANSON MADE THE MOVE TO CRABBLE IN JULY 2021 The midfielder made the move to Crabble a permanent one in July 2021 after playing seven times while on loan with us from then League One side Hull City last season. The 21-year-old, a former Dover Boys Grammar School student, joined the Tigers in the summer of 2019 after being released by Crystal Palace, where he had spent five years. He joined Palace after impressing while playing for the Dover Athletic under-13’s in a Kent League tournament. Hanson started playing football for Dover Rangers when he was six and has also represented Dover District and Kent.

PREMIER LEAGUE PRIMARY STARS REGIONAL TOURNAMENT On Tuesday 1st March 2022 Martin Primary School represented Barnet FC at a Premier League Primary Stars under 11 girls regional tournament that took place at Milton Keynes. The group stages of the tournament took place in the morning where teams played each other twice, the winners and runner ups progressed to the knockout stages of the tournament.
their quarter final match against Cambridge United. Cambridge United struck early and were leading 1-0, Barnet dug deep and showed great resilience to level the scores back to 1-1. It was approaching the final 10 seconds of the game where Barnet had been dominating the game.
Throughout the day the girls played against Luton who won the tournament, Norwich and Cambridge.
Cambridge United had the ball and with the last strike before the match went into extra time they scored.
They played friendly matches against Watford and Peterborough winning both matches.
The girls knew there was nothing they could do, they gave it their all and played their hearts out.
Luton won the group while Barnet finished second in the group allowing them to progress to the quarter finals. The girls were very excited to get through and eager to play
We are very proud of how they represented the club and The Hive Foundation at the tournament.

Hello everyone, here is an update from the BFCSA to summarise February for you all.
We cannot urge supporters enough to become a member. If you haven’t already, head to www.bfcsa1926.com where you can sign up. If you do have questions, suggestions or issues you wish to raise with us, you can contact us via social media (@BFCSA1926) or via email on hello@bfcsa1926.com
Player of the Month We are pleased to announce that Sam Beard was awarded the January Player of the Month award and has been presented with the trophy by BFCSA member Joseph Worrell. We are currently creating the shortlist for February’s player of the month vote so keep an eye on your email inboxes as that vote will be heading out soon. The new South Stand Following a poll that we sent to our members asking about whether people wished to sit or stand at The Hive London, the results showed us that many fans want the opportunity of a standing area in the stadium. We have presented these results to the club and will continue to have dialogue with them surrounding the South Stand. Legends Stand We are pleased to say we have agreed the date of the March 15th with the club to start having a look through some of the memorabilia there is at The Hive London. This is to arrange what kind of items we would want to display in the Legends Bar. Therefore, we are hopeful that we can all come together to decorate the bar soon and we will keep you updated as soon as there is a date available for this.
Let’s hope for three points against Dover Athletic today! BFCSA Executive Committee

HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH
dover athletic The Bees have a very strong record against Dover Athletic (formed in 1983), having won on seven occasions, drawn twice and lost once. The Bees have scored 23 goals and conceded 10. Six games against Dover Athletic have been at home and four away. Of the home games, three were at Underhill and three at The Hive London. The Bees also played the former Dover FC in the 1960s and 1970s, winning nine, drawing 10 and losing three. The 10 games against Dover Athletic include the 2003/04 FA Trophy victory, although Barnet were subsequently expelled from the competition having played an ineligible player. Barnet’s defeat by the Whites last season at the Crabble Stadium is not included in the total, as the game was expunged from the records after Dover withdrew from the league due to the Covid-19 crisis. Nicky Evans, Luke Gambin and Geoff Pitcher have all scored twice against Dover, in each case scoring both goals in one game. Elliot Johnson has made most appearances (four) against Athletic for Barnet. The highest attendance (2,048) in games between Barnet and Dover Athletic was at The Hive London in 2014/15, when the Bees were on the way to finishing as Vanarama National League champions. The largest crowd at the Crabble Stadium was 1,037 in 2018/19.
Alfie Pavey has played for both Dover and the Bees in games between the two. He played for the Whites against the Bees in December 2018 and August 2019, and then for Barnet against Dover in January 2021 (the game expunged from the records). Pavey is back with Dover and has scored four goals in 12 appearances for them this season. Mitch Brundle, who was with Barnet earlier this season, has also played for both clubs in this fixture (twice for the Whites in 2018, scoring one goal, and once for the Bees in October 2021). Myles Judd played for Barnet last season on loan from Leyton Orient (playing for the Bees against Dover in the game later expunged) and joined Dover in January this year. Nicky Deverdics (at Barnet 2008-10) played twice for the Whites against Barnet in 2014. Adam Parkes played eight times in goal for the Bees in May 2021 on loan from Watford, and is now on loan with the Whites. Others to have played for both clubs, but not in this fixture, are: Adam Birchall (with Barnet from 2006-09), Robert Codner (1985-88 and 1996), Jack Connors (2020), Giuliano Grazioli (2003-08), Barry Little (1985-87) and Tony Lynch (1990-94).
The most recent game between the Bees and the Whites was in October 2021. Barnet won 2-1, scoring through Mason Bloomfield and Daniel Powell, before Aaron Cosgrove responded. The crowd was 885 and the Barnet team was: Aston Oxborough, Jordan Thomas, Harry Taylor, Ben Richards-Everton, Joe Widdowson, Josh Payne, Mitch Brundle, Rob Hall (Kian Flanagan), Daniel Powell, Ephron Mason-Clark, Mason Bloomfield (Wes Fonguck). Both Chris Kinnear (with Barnet 1981/82 and 1983/84) and Andy Hessenthaler (2005/06 and 2006/07) have played for both teams and had two spells as manager of Dover. Hessenthaler has been manager in his current spell since 2018. Ian Hendon (with Barnet as a player and manager from 2002/03 to 2009/10) was appointed as Dover manager in summer 2018, but resigned within days without taking charge of a game.

CLASSIC ENCOUNTER WITH
THE WHITES
On Wednesday 10th September 2014, the Bees beat Dover Athletic 3-0 at the Crabble Stadium, thanks to two goals from Luke Gambin and one from Luisma Villa. The win, which was in front of the BT Sport cameras, saw the Bees reclaim top spot by two points over FC Halifax Town, who had played the night before. It was Barnet’s fifth consecutive victory. Martin Allen’s men got off to a good start, Luisma going close with a long-range effort. However, it was the hosts who had the first real chance when Richard Orlu won possession on the edge of the Barnet box. He set up Stefan Payne, but goalkeeper Graham Stack raced off his line to deny the Whites. It proved to be a crucial save. Almost immediately, the Bees went down the other end and took the lead. Elliott Johnson sent over a pinpoint cross from the left for Luisma to place a looping header inside the far post and score for the second consecutive game. Athletic responded with two good attempts. First, ex-Bee Nicky Deverdics shot narrowly wide. Then, Stack made another good save to deny Dover. Both sides continued to have chances. The visitors nearly doubled their lead when Lee Cook picked out Luisma, but Mitch Walker in the Dover goal parried his volley. The hosts nearly capitalised on a mistake by David Stephens when he misjudged the flight of a long ball, but Sam Togwell was on hand to rescue the situation.
Just before the break, Bees’ skipper Charlie MacDonald had to be replaced by Gambin after suffering an injury in a collision with Walker. The substitute had an immediate impact. Following interplay between Johnson and Cook down the left, the latter sent a ball fizzing across the box to allow Gambin to slide the ball into an empty net. In the second half, the Bees continued to look dangerous and went three up after 61 minutes. Once again, the move was down the left. This time it was Johnson who was the provider for Gambin, who finished under the keeper from close-range. Gambin nearly completed his hat-trick when he dummied his way across the edge of the penalty area before unleashing a shot that took a deflection and just cleared the crossbar, with the goalkeeper stranded. Dover did not give up. A cross from the left found its way to substitute Ricky Miller, but he slashed at the ball and his shot went wide. Finally, in injury time, the Whites hit the bar from a free-kick and then Chris Nanetti saw a longrange shot rebound off the post. At the end of that season, the Bees won the championship on the final day of the season and were promoted back to the Football League. Dover finished a respectable eighth. Teams: Dover Athletic: Mitch Walker, Tyrone Sterling, Connor Essam, Tom Bonner, Richard Orlu (Ricky Miller), Craig Stone, Soloman Taiwo, Matt Lock, Nicky Deverdics, Stefan Payne (Chris Nanetti), Nathan Elder (Jake Reid). Bees: Graham Stack, Andy Yiadom, Bondz N’Gala, David Stephens, Elliott Johnson, Sam Togwell, Curtis Weston, Luisma Villa, Lee Cook (Sam Muggleton), Charlie MacDonald (Luke Gambin), John Akinde (Jamal Lowe). Attendance: 1,023.

WHAT’S THE Buzz
WHAT’S THE Buzz Woking have also sacked their Manager Alan Dowson following a poor run of form, which has seen the side drop to 16th place in the league table. Dowson had joined the side back in May 2018. He had won 69 and drawn 34 of his 175 games in charge of the club, losing the remaining 72. His playing career as a defender saw him turn out for the likes of Millwall, Fulham, Bradford City, Darlington, Slough Town, Gateshead and Walton and Hersham. He would also later manage the latter as well as Kingstonian and Hampton & Richmond Borough. This week has seen several managerial changes at clubs in the Vanarama National League. Firstly, Eastleigh have appointed Lee Bradbury as their new manager. This comes after former Bee Ben Strevens was dismissed from his position at the end of January. Bradbury, the former Portsmouth, Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Birmingham City player joins having most recently spent time as assistant Head Coach at Crawley Town. He has previous managerial experience with AFC Bournemouth and Portsmouth’s youth teams as well as Havant & Waterlooville and Eastbourne Borough. He joins the side as they sit in 14th place in the league, 12 points above the relegation zone.
The FA have issued both Oldham Athletic and Bradford City a fine after a fight between players of the sides in a recent match. The incident in question took place in the fixture between the two sides at Boundary Park on Saturday 19th February, which was won 2-0 by hosts Oldham thanks to two goals in five minutes. The incident took place 20 minutes before fulltime, with both sides being issued with a £1,000 fine for failing to ensure that their players behaved appropriately. The incident saw Paudie O’Connor of Bradford sent off, although later had his appeal for wrongful dismissal upheld.
WHAT’S THE Buzz
WHAT’S THE Buzz
Crewe Alexandra have also been fined this week. The League One side were made to pay £2,500 for disorderly conduct in a recent match against Oxford United. During the game at Gresty Road on 22nd February, which United won 1-0, several Crewe players surrounded the referee after an incident that saw Herbie Kane of Oxford receive a yellow card. Crewe admitted failing to ensure that its’ players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion. The defeat was one of 21 that the Alex have had in League One this season out of their 34 games so far - a run that sees them bottom of the table by four points and eight points from safety with 12 games remaining.
Northampton Town have signed Ryan Nolan on a deal running up until the end of next season. The 23-year-old was the captain of Inter Milan’s Under 19 team and he also made appearances for Arezzo and Giana Erminio in Italy. Nolan has also turned out for Getafe and the Republic of Ireland at Under 16, Under 17 and Under 18 levels. It has been reported that the Cobblers intend to send Nolan out on loan for a period to help build up his fitness. This comes after he failed to feature for Getafe’s first team after an injury set back.
The British Transport Police has said that they are launching an investigation into a reported hate crime. This crime was reportedly committed by a group of Exeter City fans against a women who was travelling on a train from Bristol to Exeter last Saturday. The lady said that she believed that the group were supporters of the Grecians, as the side were playing Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Ground that day. Exeter released a statement asserting their disappointment with the incident, whilst also distancing themselves from their actions. Exeter City also reminded their fans of their social responsibilities away from the club.

MATCH Report
MATCH Report THE BEES FELL TO A NARROW DEFEAT AT THE SHAY STADIUM – LOSING 1-0 TO FC HALIFAX TOWN IN THE VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE. Halifax enjoyed the opening spell of possession which saw Kian Spence strike at goal from the edge of the box, only to have it deflected into Aston Oxborough’s hands. The Bees had an opportunity to break the deadlock in the 17th minute when Wes Fonguck swung a free kick into the centre of the box. The ball popped out to Rob Hall on the edge whose low strike had to be blocked by a Halifax defender. Ephron Mason-Clark had a clear chance to put his side ahead in the 38th minute after he got away from his defender in the final third and rolled his shot into Sam Johnson’s gloves. Pete Wild’s side took the lead two minutes later as a Halifax corner was met by Oxborough who palmed it only as far as Niall Maher inside the box, who tapped home into the bottom corner. The hosts were quick from the restart and almost doubled their advantage through two chances in quick succession. Billy Waters’ initial drive towards the corner was defended by Harry Taylor before Allen flashed the rebound narrowly wide of the far post. Dean Brennan’s side responded instantly with a chance of their own as Reece Grego-Cox found Daniel Powell in the box whose shot from a tight angle was blocked off the line. The Shaymen started the second half quickly and won a corner that was sent in by Luke Summerfield and headed wide of the post by Tom Bradbury. Billy Waters nearly added to his 13-goal tally this season after he was fed the ball in the Bees’ half and turned away from Harry Taylor before slamming his shot wide of the post. The Bees had opportunities to level the score in the 70th and 72nd minute as Rob Hall’s fierce strike was deflected over
before Ross Marshall volleyed at goal from a similar position, to force Johnson to tip the ball around the post. Grego-Cox was denied with less than 10 minutes to go as Mason-Clark got the better of Tom Bradbury near the byline before he pulled it back to the frontman – who had his shot towards the near post blocked.
