DAVE ANDERSON
DAVE ANDERSON Dave, you must be happy that we have won our last three without conceding, but how do we keep this going? “I am pleased with our recent results, especially the performance on Tuesday night. “If we can replicate the endeavour shown by the players again this Saturday, then the coaching staff will be pleased. “The main thing for us now is to build some consistency in our performances and results. “It is so important that we can follow up Tuesday’s win with another three points this weekend.” We have recently had a tricky run of results before winning three on the bounce. Do you think that we are turning a corner? “There are lots of twists and turns in a season and it is down to us to make sure we can have some consistency. “I think we have got over a rough period at the club and we are now starting to pick up some good results. “The lads are in good form and the attitude is positive in games and in training. “We hope that we are turning a corner, but this is a really difficult league and every game carries a different test.”
DAVE ANDERSON
How have the recent results helped with the player’s confidence? “Yes, I think the results have increased the player’s confidence and winning football matches always helps that. “You can tell them anything but if you win football matches, it effectively raises their confidence. “They have had a trip to Cheltenham on Wednesday which is good for team bonding. “The mood around the camp is good but it is important to get that balance right. “There is a time to enjoy yourself but there is also the time where we should work hard and be focused on our work.” How has training been in the build up to Woking this Saturday? “It has been really good. We know how we are going to play and we know what the game plan is. “We only have a couple of decisions to make about our starting eleven and a couple of niggles that we need to clear up.” We are hosting Woking tomorrow, what are your initial expectations ahead of the match? “I know that they have Ian Dyer in charge after departing with Alan Dowson, who was an old friend of mine. “Ian’s style will be different to Dowson’s and we are aware of that. “They had a late winner in their last game, so their mood seems good as well. “We could say the same thing every week in this league as we understand that it will be a
tough game. “We feel that we have the abilities to win it, but we really need to be at it.” How important can our home form be between now and the end of the season because we have won our last two home matches? “For a little while it was not great, but John Dreyer’s appointment has helped us since coming in. “We have not been conceding as many goals which is always important if you want success. “You have to try and get a result in every game you play, home or away, but if we play like we did on Tuesday, we will certainly win more than we lose.” How are the new signings settling into life at The Hive London as we saw Marshall celebrating with the fans after Tuesday’s win? “Yes, it is and I spoke to him a couple of times about it. I know the level and the club he is at so believe it is a good move for him. “I know he is enjoying it because every player wants to play football.” The fans had the place bouncing on Tuesday night, how important is it that they can continue to do that? “I thought it was the best atmosphere I have heard since being at the club. “It is so important for the players that the fans stick with us when things are not so good, which I think they have done. “We would love them to be as good as they were again this Saturday because it was an amazing atmosphere.”

BEN
RICHARDS-EVE RTON
Ben, given that we have secured three clean sheets in a row, you must be happy with how you are performing?
“All three of them are great lads who have certainly freshened things up.
“I am pleased with my recent performances, but it is unfortunate that we have not had that many clean sheets so far this season.
“Ross Marshall is very passionate and you saw that after the Boreham Wood game.
“We have found a bit of form and three clean sheets is a good thing to build on as a team.
“He has been massive for us in keeping our clean sheets and we hope that continues.
“Dean Brennan has said that clean sheets to win the titles and I agree with him.”
“Louis Walsh and Reece Grego-Cox have given us another option in the forward line and Cox has scored a couple of good goals as well.
What do you think has been key to getting these clean sheets? “It is hard to put my finger on certain things but we are all working hard together as a team.
“They are settling in really well and I like to think we have made them feel really comfortable too.”
On Saturday we host Woking in the Vanarama National League. “I think we have been more solid in our overall play and also in midfield, What are your initial expectations? which has helped the defence. “There are no easy games in this league and every opposition “John Dreyer’s addition has also helped us a lot because he used to be offers a tough test in different areas. a defender himself. “We have gone through their strengths and weaknesses in “He has touched on a few things that he wants us to do and we have preparation for the game so we will be ready. taken that into matchdays. “I am looking forward to Saturday and if we are concentrating “I also think confidence is massive as well. When you get your first on ourselves and keep playing well, we can beat anyone in this clean sheet for a while, you want to build on that and get another one.” league. Confidence is a big thing in football and three clean sheets seems to be giving the lads a lift. Would you agree with that?
“We showed that the other night against Boreham Wood when they had just been on a great FA Cup run
“I think the recent clean sheets have definitely helped the player’s confidence.
“We held our own and did not get bullied, which they do to a lot of teams at this level.
“Aston Oxborough also needs a mention because he has taken a lot of stick lately.
“The good thing about us at the minute is we have two sides to our game. We are strong and physical as well as clinical in front of goal.
“He has done really well in the last three games and has made some vital saves to keep those clean sheets.”
“We are hoping to finish the season strongly to put us in good place for next season.”
Dean Brennan has been forced into change across the defence since the start of the year. How has that affected you in terms of the consistency with your playing partners?
The Hive London was bouncing on Tuesday. What impact can the fans have to you on the pitch?
“It is difficult but we all know each other’s game now. If I have to play at left-back or centre-half, I am happy to do so.
“Their support has been massive to us and we are pleased to be giving them something back with our recent wins.
“Ross Marshall has come in as a central defensive midfielder but has played right-back recently and done brilliantly.
“Six goals against Dover Athletic and one against Boreham Wood. I do not know which one was sweeter to be honest.
“We are experienced lads with enough games under our belt to play in various positions.
“We want to keep putting positive performances in for them and make this place a fortress.”
“It is not a problem for us to fill in different positions as it helps the team move forward.”
“It is a big game for us and their support can give all the players a lift on the pitch, so we hope to see them turn out in their numbers.”
What has it been like to work with the new signings?
THE OPPOSITION
TODAY’S OPPOSITION
Club History Boreham Wood Football Club celebrated its 70th Anniversary at the end of the 2017/18 season, having been formed in 1948 following the amalgamation of Boreham Rovers and Royal Retournez. The anniversary was celebrated in spectacular style with an appearance at Wembley and also beating a Football League club for the first time ever in the FA Cup – more later on both! First though, back to our formative years and the club gradually progressed through the Mid-Herts, Parthenon, Spartan and Athenian Leagues. Under the Chairmanship of local man Bill O’Neill and the management of fellow local man Mickey Hunter, the club moved forward by winning back to back promotions at Athenian League level, before being elected to the Isthmian Football League in 1974/75, under the management of another local man Micky Lennon. In 1976/77 the club won the Isthmian League Division Two Championship by sixteen points and then had a five-season spell in the Premier Division during the late seventies and early eighties. It then enjoyed another much more successful spell in the Premier Division during the nineties under the Chairmanship of Phil Wallace and the managerial expertise of Bob Makin. That sadly ended in relegation at the end of the 1999/2000 season under the then new Chairman Danny Hunter who remains our Chairman to this day. However, the club did bounce back immediately from that disappointment and once again gained promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division, as Isthmian League Division One Champions in 2000/01. Following the Football Association restructuring of non-league football in 2004, Boreham Wood competed for the first time in
the Southern Football League, playing in Division One East for two seasons. Winning the championship in 2005/06 the club was promoted again and returned to the Isthmian League Premier Division for the 2006/07 season. Alongside the championship success in the 2005/06 season the club went on an incredible run in the FA Trophy, reaching the SemiFinals. We are very proud to say that, at present, we are still the lowest ranked team to have reached the last four of that prestigious tournament. The 2013/14 season ended in cup success, with a Herts Senior Cup triumph defeating local rivals Bishops Stortford on penalties in the final. Another poor start in our league campaign, however, meant the club had a long relegation battle on its hands for the majority of the season but a strong finish saw us end up in 13th place. Another cup run saw us again reach the First Round proper of the FA Cup, and that culminated in us holding Football League One side Carlisle United to a 0-0 draw at Meadow Park. The replay ended in heartbreak, though, as we led 1-0, only to miss a penalty before two late goals saw us bow out of the competition 2-1. In 2013, we got the go ahead to build a brand new 870-seater West Stand. The project was finally completed in May 2014 at a cost of around three quarters of a million pounds. The stand was officially opened by Mr Arsene Wenger in front of a bumper crowd of 3,400, in a specially arranged friendly against an Arsenal First Team on Saturday 19th July 2014. The 2014/15 season was, at the time, the most successful in Boreham Wood Football Club’s history. After leading the Conference South for the majority of the season, a controversial defeat at

eventual League Champions Bromley cost us the title and so we took our place in the end of season Play-Offs.
second lifetime ambition of many at the club was to be realised in the same dramatic season as the first.
After playing magnificently to beat Havant & Waterlooville 2-0 away from home, and then drawing 2-2 at home in a two-legged Semi-Final, we faced the then big spending and strongly fancied Whitehawk Football Club at Meadow Park in front of a partisan 2,200 crowd. A Lee Angol set piece put us ahead early in the second half before a late Whitehawk penalty levelled proceedings. However, a Junior Morias goal in the first minute of extra time proved to be the winner and sent the club into raptures and the town into delirium. Who could believe it, little Boreham Wood with the lowest average attendance in the league had deservedly achieved promotion to the top tier of NonLeague football for the very first time in our then 67-year history!
A place in the Football League was at stake but it was not to be, losing 2-1 to Tranmere Rovers. However, the memory of the day, the walk down Wembley Way and the sheer ecstasy of the Wood faithful celebrating Bruno Andrade’s equaliser will live long in the memory. Seeing over 4,000 passionate supporters in the Wembley stands will be a moment to cherish for everyone connected with the club.
The 2015/16 season was undoubtedly a historic season for the Wood with us competing at the top table of non-league football for the very first time in the newly named National League. It was, though, no fairy-tale opening season at that level against much stronger opposition. In fact, it proved a very difficult one just to survive and, apart from our opening day 3-1 win against Halifax, and the odd big win against the likes of Tranmere Rovers, we struggled to compete with the bigger clubs. By the October we had lost our very successful long-standing manager Ian Allinson to his increased work commitments. We had replaced him with Allinson’s experienced, but young, assistant manager Luke Garrard who was just 30-years of age and we continued to struggle and adjust to football at that level and faced a relegation battle that took us to the very last game of the season. The final three league games of the campaign will long live in the memory as it saw us beat Aldershot away 2-1, Guiseley at home 1-0 and then Welling United 3-0 away. That end of season turnaround finally secured our place in the National League Premier and sent our Chairman, Manager, staff, dressing room and supporters into raptures. The following season, 2016/17, saw the club improve further, with an 11th place National League finish but the best was still to come one year later. During that 2017/18 season the club finally realised two ambitions, the first of which was to beat a Football League club in the FA Cup. That happened on Saturday, November 4, 2017 with a 2-1 victory over famous FA Cup winners Blackpool. Going a goal down with under half an hour left did not suggest that history was about to be made but an equaliser from Blair Turgott paved the way for Dan Holman to secure his place in the club’s history books with a very late winner. That would have been the highlight of any normal season, but 2017/18 was anything but that for Boreham Wood FC as a great run of league form ended with an amazing 4th place finish in the National League. That meant yet another appearance in the Play-Offs and this time in the new format where six clubs were involved. In the eliminator round we beat AFC Fylde 2-1 in a hard-fought game but suffered a series of nightmare injuries, losing three key players before and during the game and putting them out of the remaining Play-Off matches. We then faced Sutton United away just three days later, without those three key players. Despite this, a stunning performance led to a 3-2 win against the odds with Angelo Balanta and Michael Folivi writing their names into Wood folklore. When the nerve wracking period of injury time ended, those present celebrated the impossible dream – Boreham Wood were going to play at Wembley Stadium! The
A difficult season was to follow the play-off disappointment with a 20th place finish, however we were on hand to crash the play-off party once again. The 2019/20 campaign was another spectacle for a multitude of reasons, both good and bad. The COVID-19 pandemic kicked off and had a severe impact on the world, forcing football clubs to play their games behind closed doors which proved to be most detrimental to lower leagues clubs. Despite this, it would still prove to be an enjoyable season, as a much improved 5th place finish allowed entry into the play-offs for a second time in three seasons and another attempt at making history. After getting past Halifax in the elimination round we faced Harrogate in the semi-final, with a narrow defeat in an empty stadium to the eventual winners. Similarly to the first play-off disappointment, we were unable to match these heights in the following campaign, although history was still made. A comfortable 3-0 win over Canvey Island saw the Wood go one better than in 2018 and reach the third round of the FA Cup for the first time. Championship outfit Millwall awaited, with the Lions’ league position of 17th making them the Wood’s highest ranked opponent. This was to be the end of the road for the cup run with a 2-0 defeat in an empty Meadow Park, but it was a memorable day nonetheless. Our Chairman Danny Hunter can proudly claim that he has overseen our rise through both the Ryman Leagues, the Conference South and into the National League where, in our fourth season, we are regarded as an established club at that level, the pinnacle of non-league football. During our Chairman’s tenure, he has continued to invest or raise over £14 million, to greatly modernise our current infrastructure, our player recruitment, our ground and facility, which has improved the football club hugely and enhanced every fan’s matchday experience when they visit our Meadow Park home. In 2017 he secured further investment of £1.8 million building a new training facility, laying a new DESSO pitch of Premier League quality, installing new floodlights and dugouts. Our facilities are now 90% utilised on a daily basis, 52 weeks of the year. The club houses the largest sports education programme in the whole country, which has now been established for well over a decade. It is a programme that boasts over 600 scholar/students for the next academic year and 2018/19 season. Optimism in our future has long returned to Meadow Park and we hope it will now lead to greater home support, greater sponsorship and, of course, further investment as we continue to progress. After the incredible infrastructure overhaul and huge facility investment in recent years, the club has never looked in better shape. We now have the excitement of another National League season to enjoy and the future of Boreham Wood Football Club has never looked brighter throughout our 70-year history.

CARETAKER MANAGER IAN DYER Ian Dyer joined Woking at the start of the 2018/19 season as a key part of manager Alan Dowson’s coaching staff. His tactical insights and planning quickly paid off as the Cards clinched promotion from the National League South in his first season at the club, defeating Welling United in the end of season promotion final. He also helped mastermind a run to the third round of the FA Cup, where the team famously earned the opportunity to take on Premier League Watford, going down 2-0 at the Laithwaite Community Stadium. Dyer previously coached alongside managerial colleagues Dowse and Martin Tyler at Hampton &
Richmond Borough, where the trio won promotion from the Isthmian League, before reaching consecutive National League South play-off games, losing in the semi-final in 2017 and the final twelve months later, as the Beavers were beaten on penalties by Braintree Town. A UEFA ‘A’ License Professional Coach, Dyer has also worked in the Football League with Portsmouth, Barnet and Fulham in a variety of roles, as well as working at the Coerver Performance Academy which specialises in grassroots player development for players aged 7-17. He signed a new contract with the Cards in April 2021 until the summer of 2023.

He made four league appearances last season and signed a new deal in July 2021. He started his senior career at Brentford before joining Woking’s local rivals Aldershot Town in 2016. He made a handful of appearances for the Shots in the National League before becoming a regular at Eastbourne Borough in the National League South. After a brief spell with Billericay Town he joined Dartford, where he spent the entirety of the 2019/20 campaign, making 29 appearances in all competitions. The Darts missed out on promotion to the National League in the play-offs and released the goalkeeper at the end of the season.
leo hamblin HAMBLIN IS A WOKING ACADEMY GRADUATE Leo is an academy graduate who signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2021. The teenager retained his place in the Woking squad after making his debut in April of the same year and going onto make 10 National League appearances, including, most memorably, in the draws at Eastleigh and Stockport County. The young defender, who is most comfortable at left-back but can also play in the centre of defence, impressed with his mature performances standing in for club captain Josh Casey for much of the final two months of a challenging season, when a very inexperienced Woking team would often find themselves on the backfoot. He also impressed during the shortened 2019/20 campaign, winning the Woking academy’s first years’ Player of the Year Award.

An energetic boxto-box midfielder, he came to the Cards as one of the highest-rated prospects from National League South, having spent the past two years with St Albans City. Despite only featuring in two shortened campaigns, caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, he still managed 49 appearances for the Saints in all competitions, scoring six goals. That would include four in just 11 league appearances at the start of the 2020/21 campaign, as St Albans won nine and drew five of their 15 completed fixtures, placing them top of the league on a points-per-game metric. He joined St Albans from Biggleswade Town, where he was the club’s Young Player of the Year in his only season with the club, and was previously with Enfield Borough, where he reached double figures for goals in back-to-back seasons from midfield.

During his time at Broadfield Stadium he enjoyed a successful loan with Wealdstone, then playing alongside Woking in the National League South, and he scored one of his four goals for the club against the Cards at the Laithwaite Community Stadium during a 2-0 win in January 2019. Earlier in his career he played in the Isthmian League for Aveley, who he joined from Leyton Orient’s academy, and Maldon & Tiptree. HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH
WOKING
The Bees and Woking have met on 30 occasions, beginning in 1949/50 when Barnet won the first of five meetings in the FA Amateur Cup. In total Barnet have come out on top in eight of the matches between the two sides, 15 have been drawn and the Cards have been the victors on seven occasions. Of the 13 home games, the Bees have won four, there have been seven draws and two defeats. Three cup games were played on a neutral ground (two at Brentford and one at Fulham): an Amateur Cup semi-final and the replay in 1957/58, and a second replay in an FA Cup first round tie in 1978/79 (in the days before penalty shoot-outs). The teams have met at The Hive London on four occasions, while nine games were at Underhill. Of Barnet’s current players, Ephron Mason-Clark has played against the Cards for the Bees five times and Harry Taylor on four occasions. Adam Marriott has played against Woking four times but only once for the Bees. He has scored two goals against today’s opponents for Barnet (plus one for King’s Lynn against them last season and one for Lincoln in 2016/17).
More than 30 players have represented both clubs. Of the current Barnet side, Reece Grego-Cox played for the Cards in 2017/18 and Harry Taylor did so on loan from the Bees in 2018/19, appearing in an FA Cup tie against Watford. Of the current Woking squad, Tom Champion was with Barnet in 2004/05 and again in 2014/15 and 2015/16, Inih Effiong was at The Hive London last season, and Craig Ross in 2017/18. Champion, Effiong and Ross have all played for the Cards in this fixture, and Taylor for Barnet. Others to play for both teams include (with dates at Barnet): Jake Cole (2009-11), Sean Devine (1995-99), Phil Gridelet (1989-90), Carl Hoddle (1986-87 and 1991-95), Billy Holmes (1974-75 and 1982), Jake Hyde (2009-10 and 2012-14), Micah Hyde (2009-10), Nicky Nicolau (2006-09), Jason Norville (2005-07), Jon Nurse (2012-15), Dave Tarpey (2017-19) and Ismail Yakubu (2002-10).
Mason-Clark has notched one against the Cards. The largest attendance for a game between the Bees and the Cards was 20,750 for the Amateur Cup semi-final in 1958 at Fulham. The highest attendance at Underhill (where records are available) was 4,430 in 1949/50. In the past 30 years, the highest at Underhill was 3,114 for an FA Cup game in 1994/95 (see “Classic encounter”), while the highest at Woking was 3,748 for the replay. The biggest crowd at The Hive London was 2,036 in 2014/15. The most recent game between the sides was in November 2021. The Bees went behind to a Joe McNerney goal after only two minutes, but equalised before half-time through Marriott, who then scored again at the very end to win the game 2-1. The Barnet team that day was: Aston Oxborough, Jordan Thomas, Jamie Turley, Reiss Greenidge, Sam Beard, Harry Taylor, Mitch Brundle, Wes Fonguck (Serhat Tasdemir), Rob Hall (Mason Bloomfield), Ephron Mason-Clark, Adam Marriott (Richards-Everton).

The CARDINALS CLASSIC ENCOUNTER WITH
THE CARDINALS
The Bees came from 3-0 down at half-time to draw a First Round Proper FA Cup tie with Woking 4-4, on November 12th, 1994. It was a truly classic encounter at Underhill. The Bees were flying high in the fourth tier at the time, while the Cards were second in what is now the Vanarama National League. Woking took the lead in the 12th minute when an inswinging cross from their right was nodded home by Colin Fielder, who was unopposed inside the six-yard box. Woking made it 2-0 after 15 minutes. A through ball to former Chelsea star Clive Walker saw him jink past a lone Barnet defender on the edge of the Bees’ box and hit a hard shot against the foot of the post. Lennie Dennis was the first to react to the rebound.
shot by Scott Steele cleared the stranded Phillips, hit the underside of the bar, and bounced in. All seemed lost for Barnet. With 15 minutes remaining, Lee Hodges reduced the Cards’ lead to one again, scoring with a long-range header following a deep cross from Carl Hoddle. Finally, after 80 minutes, Cooper received the ball on the edge of the box, turned and made it 4-4 to secure the replay. Just over a week after this goal fest, the replay saw Woking go through to the second round thanks to Mark Tucker’s only goal of the game. Subsequently, they lost 2-1 to Marlow from the Isthmian League and missed out on a game in the prestigious Third Round. Bees: Gary Phillips, David McDonald, Alan Walker, Carl Hoddle, Mark Newson (Paul Wilson), Linvoy Primus, Gerry McMahon, Dougie Freedman, Lee Hodges (Mickey Tomlinson), Mark Cooper, Peter Scott. Attendance: 3,114.
Another through ball just after half an hour saw Walker bag his second, making space for his shot and striking the ball along the ground and into the corner from outside the box. Barnet went in at half-time shell-shocked by Geoff Chapple’s side. Bees’ boss Ray Clemence introduced Paul Wilson at halftime and he made an immediate impact, crossing from the byline for Gerry McMahon to finish calmly from near the penalty spot. Then, after 62 minutes, a long ball down the Barnet right allowed Dougie Freedman to cross and Mark Cooper to head home. It was 3-2 to Woking, but the Bees were in the ascendancy and creating chance after chance. However, Woking managed to restore their two-goal advantage. A free-kick into the Barnet six-yard box was only half cleared by Gary Phillips in the Bees’ goal and a lofted CLASSIC ENCOUNTER WITH the CARDINALS
ON THIS day THREE YEARS AGO (2019) Barnet won 1-0 against Harrogate Town in a Vanarama National League game at The Hive London. Dave Tarpey, signed from today’s opponents Woking the season before, scored his only goal for the club. The crowd was 849. Town finished the season sixth and the Bees 12th.
FIVE YEARS AGO (2017) Notts County beat the Bees 1-0 at Meadow Lane in the fourth tier in front of 7,178. Barnet were relegated to the National League the following season and the Magpies a year later.
SIX YEARS AGO (2016) The Bees lost 3-0 to Oxford United at home in a fourth-tier game. The attendance was 3,264. United were promoted at the end of that season and Barnet finished 15th.
NINE YEARS AGO (2013) Barnet overcame Fleetwood Town 2-0 at Underhill in the fourth tier. Mark Byrne and Luke Gambin scored the goals, and the attendance was 1,731. Sadly, the Bees were relegated with Aldershot Town, while the Cods finished in mid-table.
11 YEARS AGO (2011) The Bees lost 2-1 to Morecambe in a fourth-tier game at Underhill. Mark Byrne scored the home side’s goal and the crowd was 2,510.
17 YEARS AGO (2005) Barnet thrashed Farnborough Town 7-1, at home, in the National League. It was the most recent occasion that Barnet scored seven in a competitive first-team game. The Bees’ goalscorers were Giuliano Grazioli with a hat-trick, Damian Batt (who went on to play for today’s opponents Woking, on loan), Lee Roache, Dean Sinclair and Ben Strevens, and the crowd was 2,418. Barnet finished the season (seven games and five weeks later) as champions and were promoted back to the Football League. Town were relegated.
ON THIS Day
20 YEARS AGO (2002) Dagenham & Redbridge were beaten 4-0 at home in the National League by the Bees in front of 1,865 spectators. Mark Gower (a brace), Frazer Toms and Neil Midgley scored the Barnet goals.
90 YEARS AGO (1932) Barnet lost 2-0 away to Ilford, who after several mergers have subsequently become part of Dagenham & Redbridge. The game was the semi-final of the London Charity Cup, and the crowd is recorded as 6,000.
&
CURRENTLY As a result of the 6-0 win over Dover Athletic and the 1-0 victory against neighbours Boreham Wood on Tuesday, Barnet have kept clean sheets in consecutive first-team competitive games, something the Bees’ management have praised. It is the first time that has been achieved since the last two games of the 2020/21 season. The Bees have also now conceded only one goal in four first-team games. It is the first time they have managed that for nearly three years (since March and April 2019). Harry Taylor has now made most appearances (31) for the Bees this season. Ephron Mason-Clark and Ben Richards-Everton have both appeared 29 times. Adam Marriott is the Bees’ leading scorer having bagged nine goals this term. He needs one more to outperform last season’s top scorer Michael Petrasso. Woking go into today’s game on the back of a poor run: only one win in their 10 most recent league games. However, the win was last Saturday, a 1-0 victory over Maidenhead United. Barnet’s recent form has been good, with two home league wins (plus another in the County Cup). Over the most five games at home, the Bees have won seven points, while the Cards have picked up three points from their latest five away games. Compiled by 59 Years A Bee ON THIS Day

WHAT’S THE Buzz
WHAT’S THE Buzz The FA Vase is at the same stage, having played the quarter-finals last weekend. Littlehampton Town of the Southern Combination were rewarded for their 1-0 home win against North Shields of the Northern League Division One with another home tie, this time over Loughborough Students (United Counties Premier Division North), who beat Wythenshawe Town of the North West Counties League Premier Division 2-0.
Following the Buildbase FA Trophy quarter-finals last weekend, the draw for the semi-finals have been made.
The other tie sees United Counties League Premier Division South side Newport Pagnell Town host Wessex League Premier Division side Hamworthy United, with the side having beaten Whitchurch Alport (Midland League Premier Division 2-1 away and Southall (Combined Counties League Premier Division North) at home on penalties respectively.
The first tie is an all-National League tie as Wrexham, who beat Notts County 2-1 away, will host Stockport County, who won 3-0 away against Needham Market last week. The other tie sees 2018 finalists Bromley, who won 3-1 at home to Solihull Moors, host National League North side York City, who won on penalties against Dagenham & Redbridge.
Barcelona have agreed to rename their stadium after having recently agreed a new sponsorship deal. This comes after the club agreed a deal with music and audio streaming service Spotify, which will last for four seasons. The deal will see the stadium be renamed to the Spotify Nou Camp, with the companies’ name also to appear on the shirts and training gear of both the men’s and women’s sides. The deal marks the first time that the club’s ground has had a name sponsor. The kit aspect of the deal is set to start from next season. The deal is reportedly worth 280 million Euros or £235 million.

League Two side Rochdale have been charged by the EFL for an alleged breach of regulations regarding a recent takeover bid. This comes after the EFL had launched an investigation into Morton House MGT’s attempted takeover of the club last July, with a number of other individuals also being charged in the “comprehensively reviewed” situation. It has been said that the company had attempted to take over the club without the approval of the EFL. As a result, the company decided to sell its shares in the club last August and formally withdraw completely from the processes, with the club also saying that they have had no contact with Morton House since.
Christina Cardoza, the wife of a former Northampton Town owner, has had her house seized. This comes after West Northamptonshire Council are seeking to recover a missing £10.25 million loan to the club by Northampton Borough Council - granted 10 years ago. This was when her husband, David Cardoza, was the owner charge of the club. The loan was originally given to fund the rebuilding of the Sixfields Stadium’s East Stand, as well as other facilities around the stadium, but work on this stopped in 2014 with the contractors unpaid. After a local government restructure in the county of Northamptonshire last year, Northampton Borough Council no longer exists, with West Northamptonshire Council instead covering the area.
In a bid to identify the offenders, Manchester United have launched an internal investigation into fans who threw objects onto the pitch and at their opponent’s manager. The incidents occurred at the end of their Champions League Round of 16 tie against Spanish side Atletico Madrid, which was won 1-0 by the visitors on the night, and 2-1 on aggregate. Atletico Manager, Diego Simeone was hit by multiple objects as he headed into the tunnel at full-time, including bottles and drinks. UEFA are waiting to give their verdict on the situation, including any charges, until they receive their report from the match observers. The loss now means that United are out of all the cup competitions and look set to miss out on winning the Premier League. This means it will be five years without

MATCH Report
MATCH Report THE BEES BATTLED HARD TO THREE POINTS UNDER THE LIGHTS – BEATING BOREHAM WOOD 1-0 AT THE HIVE LONDON IN THE VANARAMA NATIONAL After an intense start to the evening, it was Ephron MasonClark who put the Bees ahead when he capitalised on a defensive mix up inside the box and slotted the ball past the ‘keeper from a tight angle. Dean Brennan’s side continued their early pressure and went close to doubling their advantage when Reece Grego-Cox drifted infield and beat several defenders before seeing his shot deflected narrowly wide of the post. Adam Marriott was next to test the Wood’s resilience when his long-range effort was parried into the path of Mason-Clark who smashed the ball into the side netting from two-yards out. Luke Garrard’s side had a chance to equalise when Josh Rees found space behind the Bees’ backline but he was denied by a strong save from Aston Oxborough. Boreham Wood pushed hard to level the score just before the break through a series of chances in quick succession. First, Dennon Lewis’ powerful drive towards the near post was deflected wide by Ben Richards-Everton shortly before David Stephens’ failed to turn in a corner from a yard out at the near post. The Wood’s best chance of the first-half came three minutes into stoppage time when Mendy Mendy’s curling free-kick was flicked on by Rees to force a reaction save from Oxborough, who managed to push it over. The visitors began the second-half similar to how they ended the first as Mendy Mendy called Oxborough into action with a looping header which was sent onto the bar by the goalie. The Bees thought they had scored again in the 70th minute when Sam Woods’ high looping shot bounced in but the referee disallowed it for a foul on the ‘keeper.
A series of half-chances followed for the hosts as GregoCox’s cross was flicked onto Turley at the back post who shot narrowly over. Shortly after, Ashby-Hammond raced off his line to head the ball clear. De Havilland looked to take advantage of the open goal as he threaded through Grego-Cox who lashed his shot over the target. The final action of the evening came in the 89th minute when Will Evans’ headed Mendy Mendy’s corner into the ground to make Oxborough palm it over and secure a first victory over Boreham Wood this season.
