“Aston Martin has a rolling programme of apprentices, which are selected through a rigorous recruitment process. It is important that they receive the best possible training and education, so that they stay with us after their apprenticeship finishes. The main reason Barnfield College is chosen as our partner is that the students have great success there. Barnfield College is our preferred partner, partly down to the good relationships we have with the assessors and partly due to its excellent track record. Two of our apprentices have won Apprentice of the Year during their time at Barnfield.”

Jamie Harper-Ptolomey Plastering Apprentice Jamie Harper- Ptolomey was, until recently, a Plastering Apprentice at Barnfield College. Jamie is currently employed by FWA Conservation which specialises in the conservation, restoration, refurbishment, conversion and extension of historic and ecclesiastical buildings and monuments. Jamie has been working within the plastering team at FWA, which has received many recommendations and awards for conservation work. The challenges are much greater with historic buildings as the plasterwork is usually more complex. This means Jamie is completing work above the level expected for his NVQ Level 3. In his short time at FWA Jamie’s work has been in a range of historic buildings including Hampton Court Palace, Stowe School and Finchingfield Guildhall, Essex. Jamie has been nominated for and was a finalist of the English Heritage Angel Award – Apprentice of the Year. Presented by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber in London, and drawn from projects across England, Jamie was one of 4 apprentices represented from all aspects of the construction sector. Jamie has recently been nominated by Barnfield College and his employers for the 2014 Innovation Awards.
