Registration Dates: Summer 2024

Resident Registration Begins: 4/4 at 9:00am. Residents may register online, mail-in or drop off registrations. Non-electronic registrations will be processed in the order in which they were received on a first-come, first-served basis.

Non-Resident Begins: 4/11 at 9:00am. All nonresident registrations received prior to 4/11 will be held and then entered in a random order at this time.

All walk-in registrations on 4/11 will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and will take priority over non-resident registrations dropped off before 4/11. All faxed or mailed-in registrations will be processed in the order in which they were received.

On-line Registration: resident on-line registration begins 4/4 at 9:00am. Non-resident on-line registration begins 4/11 at 9:00am.

Pool Pass Sale: resident and non-resident registration begins 4/1 at 9:00am. See page 29 for more information.

Payment: cash, any major credit card or check. All returned checks will be charged $15.

Note: all fees throughout brochure are listed as resident/non-resident.

Park District Boundaries

When determining the fees for a particular class, you must first determine whether you are “in-district” or “out-of-district.”

In-district residents are those who reside within the Barrington Park District boundaries and who pay taxes to the Barrington Park District. All others are out of district. Important: not all Village of Barrington residents are within the Barrington Park District boundaries and therefore require the out-ofdistrict rates. Please see the neighborhood lists below and check your tax statement to determine your residency status.

Class Cancellation Policies

A 10% (or a max of $10) administrative fee per program, per participant, will be assessed. Cancellation requests MUST be in writing using the Program Cancellation Request Form. The form must be completely filled out, signed and dated. The request for a cancellation must be received a minimum of five business days prior to the first day of class for a cancellation request to be considered. For Adult Trips, the form must be completed/received prior to the posted registration deadline date. The Program Cancellation Request Form can be found on our website or at the F&RC Front Desk.

Some programs may qualify for a prorated refund, if due to an injury or illness, accompanied by a doctor’s note. Refund amount will be based on the number of classes attended and the date the refund request is received. Medical refunds must be requested by the last class date.

You may choose to have the refunded amount credited to your household account to use at a later date, or receive your refund via check. Refund checks are mailed approximately 2-3 weeks after the cancellation request is approved. All Preschool, K.E.E.P. and Ski Club registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Refunds will not be issued for make-up classes you are unable to attend.

Parking at Citizens Park is extremely limited due to the popularity of this event. We encourage you to use the KidFest Shuttle available from 11:00am - 3:00pm at Langendorf Park (235 Lions Drive, behind the McDonalds on Rt. 14).

KIDFEST SHUTTLE

KidFest is a FREE, fun, family event that gets the entire family outside and moving.

The Barrington Park District, along with over 30 other organizations, come together to host this fabulous community event!

This is a FREE event located at Citizens Park. When you and your family arrive at the park, check in at one of the registration tents to get your all access wristband to participate in all of the activities. Then, pick up a free kite (for ages 2-10), or bring your own and fly it in the big open field. At your leisure, experience each of the activity stations. Build a paper house, race your parents, do an obstacle course or explore the creatures that live in the pond. Food and drinks available for purchase (CASH ONLY). We have something for everyone to enjoy and it’s all FREE! This event is very popular and parking is limited. We strongly suggest using the FREE KidFest Shuttle from Langendorf Park located at 235 Lions Drive. The shuttle will run 11:00am - 3:00pm. FREE kites will be provided to all children ages 2-10 years. One kite per child while supplies last.

The KidFest mission is to provide activities that inspire healthy habits, introduce nature opportunities and encourage families to work together to help make a difference in the world. Our goal is to motivate families to volunteer in their community, work together to maintain a healthy lifestyle, get out and explore nature and of course, get together and Fly A Kite!

Dads, get ready to walk the red carpet with your Hollywood Star. The paparazzi will be around taking pictures to capture her Hollywood debut. Our Hollywood couples will enjoy a catered dinner for two, souvenir photo and a night of dancing. Bring the family together for a morning of cardboard boat races. Families will build their own seaworthy boat out of cardboard and duct tape (provided by the Park District). All supplies for decorating your boat will also be provided. Each team will need to bring their own paddles. Please do not bring any additional supplies. Awards ceremony will follow the races.

Your entire family is going to love this event! We park dozens of “Big Trucks” in the parking lot at Ron Beese Park and then open them up for children to climb in and explore! Fire engines, garbage trucks, village vehicles, tow trucks and more will be on hand to help your children have fun while learning about each truck, watching demonstrations, and climbing behind the wheel. Ride the trackless train and have fun on the inflatable slide. Food available for purchase. All cars must stop at the Park entrance to receive wristbands. Please drive slowly when entering and exiting the park.

Attention! There’s trouble at the Barrington Park District and we need your help!

Bring your hero/heroine(s) ages 3 - 11, in-training dressed as their favorite hero/heroine (you are encouraged to dress up as well) to save us!

Learn to fly like Superman, run like the Flash, use your Spidey Sense to navigate through the web and save the day like Wonder Woman.

Heroes/Heroines are encouraged to bring their favorite NERF gun for an epic battle! Standard NERF bullets and safety glasses will be provided. They will also have the chance to create their own identity, so villains won’t know who they are, and make a “light saber.” Don’t forget that heroes need to eat. Snacks will be provided!

Rockin’ Fenderskirts

Put on your blue suede shoes and rock around the clock to your favorite rock ‘n’ roll oldies. That’ll be the day The Rockin’ Fenderskirts come to town. There’ll be a whole lotta shakin’ going on. You’ll dance, you’ll sing, you’ll laugh. You’ll get all shook up. Who knows, you might even twist and shout.

Mackenzie O’Brien Band

Fronted by Mackenzie, who is referred to as “Chicago’s New Country Queen,” the band offers covers of popular country hits and rock covers, as well as original songs by Mackenzie herself. She is a seasoned professional in the industry who has performed 600+ shows in the Midwest including at some of Nashville’s bestknown venues. As a band, the group recently made their third consecutive appearance at Country Thunder which is recognized as one of the biggest country music fests in the nation!

Strung Out

Strung Out is Chicago’s ultimate 70s musical experience. They’ve dug through the incredible treasure trove of classic 70s music that other bands overlook and found the greatest songs that are as diverse as the decade itself! Rock, soul, funk and fantastic one-hit wonders that are instantly recognizable have made them a favorite for audiences of all ages. With the addition of the electric cello, Strung Out creates a fresh and amazing sound that breaks the mold of every other classic rock band.

Preschool Summer Camps

My First Camp

AGES: 2½ - 3½ YEARS WITHOUT ADULT

Come join the preschool teachers for an exciting, fun filled summer. My First Camp is designed to help your young child transition into a structured program, while gaining independence and fostering socialization skills. Each session will have a new theme based around a book and will include play, circle time, music, a story, craft and motor skill development. This camp will help your little one get ready for their next classroom adventure. If your child is not full potty-trained, a adult/ guardian must be available to come change a diaper.

(Min/Max: 6/10). Instructors: BPD Preschool Teachers.

Explorer’s Preschool Camp

AGES: 3 - 5½ YEARS WITHOUT ADULT

The name of the game is fun, fun, fun! Come join the preschool teachers for a camp that is filled with fun, excitement and enrichment. Explorer Camp has an exciting new theme each week filled with an assortment of crafts, experiments, movement and music. If weather permits, we will go outside each day for active time. All campers must be fully potty-trained and able to use the bathroom independently. Please, no diapers or pull-ups. (Min/Max: 10/16). Instructors: BPD Preschool Teachers.

Eco Explorer’s Mini Camp

AGES: 3½ - 5 YEARS WITHOUT ADULT

Come explore with our preschool teachers. Each day will focus on a new and exciting nature concept. Campers will participate in hands-on exploration, games, songs, stories and crafts. Whether we are learning about creepy crawlers or taking a nature hike, this class is sure to bring out your child’s inner explorer. Summer Series Weekly Camps

GRADES: 1 - 5 IN FALL 2024

Are your children looking for a little adventure and a lot of fun? This series of quality camps is designed for lots of summer fun at Langendorf Park. Weekly themed camps run throughout the summer and include games, arts and crafts, nature and science activities and a theme-related field trip every Friday. Please send your child in gym shoes and outdoor clothing every day. Each session is new and different! Sign up for one, two or all seven sessions and prepare for the adventure that awaits you! See descriptions below for each themed camp adventure. (Min/Max: 10/32). Instructor: BPD Staff.

SUMMER SAMPLER

Can’t decide which camp to choose? This week is the one for you! Your child will experience Adventure Camp (Mon.,Fri.), Wilderness (Wed.) and Wacky Water (Tue., Thur.). Swimming will be planned at the Park District pool on Tue. & Thur. after a swim ability test is conducted by pool managers. A field trip is scheduled for Friday.

ADVENTURE

Each week of this camp is different and so much fun! Every day features theme-related games, arts and crafts, activities and more. A Friday field trip is scheduled for each session.

WACKY WATER

Cool off this summer with fun and excitement. Every day, activities will be based around a water or sunny theme. Swimming will be planned at the Park District pool on Tue. and Thur. after a swim ability test is conducted by pool managers. Bring a swimsuit, towel and sunscreen every day. A field trip to a local water park is scheduled each session on Friday.

WILDERNESS

Do you love exploring the great outdoors? This camp is for you! All games, crafts, activities and field trips are based around a different wilderness/outdoor, exploration topic each session. We also take fun field trips to cool outdoor spots like the Forest Preserve!

Fee: $240/$295 (1 wk)

Discovery Camp

AGES: 4 - 6 YEARS BY FIRST DAY OF CAMP WITHOUT PARENT

Discovery Camp is a great way for your camper to gain independence, confidence and to make new friends! Each session features a new special theme with a carefully planned assortment of arts and crafts, sports, games, activities, songs and more! We will go to the Splashpad every Thursday! MUST BE POTTY TRAINED. (Min/Max: 8/24). Instructors: BPD Staff. Fee: $125/$155 (4 days)

Summer Camps

Little Broncettes - Cheer, Dance and Poms Camp

GRADE: 1 - 5 IN FALL 2024

Little Broncettes is a great opportunity to learn dance techniques, routines, cheers, poms and more all while having tons of fun! Enjoy weekly themes with related arts and crafts, activities and games! On the last day of camp, there will be a final performance for parents, friends and family to come watch. Campers must wear gym shoes, shorts and a t-shirt each day. New routines are learned each session. A complimentary t-shirt will be distributed to each child.

XSTATIC POMS XTENDED CAMP

Gear up for the return of XStatic Poms this fall with extended time at Little Broncettes Camp (sec.# 06 - 07)! We will have a lunch break and stay to work on some poms techniques and dancing. On the last day of camp, there will be a final performance for parents, friends and family to come watch. Please send campers with a lunch for extended day camp.

Full Day Broadway Camp

AGES: 7 - 13 YEARS

Ready for a full day of theatre camp? This camp will provide young performers with an introductory musical theatre experience, from an encouraging first day of getting to know the show to an exhilarating final performance. Each child will be assigned a named role and have a chance to shine in the show. Campers will learn lines and dances, explore their creative instincts, play games, enjoy outdoor time and have fun! The camp culminates in a final performance on the last afternoon of camp. Please send your camper with a snack, lunch, gym shoes, sunscreen and comfortable clothing they can move around in. (Min/Max: 8/15).

Sports Camps

Chicago Union Ultimate Frisbee Camp

AGES: 6 - 13 YEARS

Ultimate is a fast, fun, easy-to-learn field game played with a disc. It is a non-contact sport combining the athleticism of running and agility with the skills of throwing and catching. Players advance the disc by completing passes to teammates. The Chicago Union offers this week-long camp introducing basic rules, throwing and catching techniques, and offensive/defensive strategies to develop skills through games and activities that emphasize teamwork, good spirit, and the joy of play.  Participants also receive a Union disc, replica jersey, and 4 tickets to a home game. It’s time to step inside The ZONE! This action-packed sports camp will focus on a new sport each day of the week. We will be playing some of the classics, but The ZONE goes further. We will also feature some of those lesser-known sports that are sure to get your young athlete pumped to play again and again! The focus each day will be solely on having fun, in an effort to help encourage your child to keep playing, no matter what sport they enjoy. Barrington Park District’s Teen Breakout Camp is the place to be! Our camp is designed to help campers build character, develop positive social skills, practice responsibility, and of course, have fun! Teen Breakout camp offers an exclusive experience where every day is filled with chances for your teenager to spend time with friends and interact with amazing staff. Each week will include two field trips to awesome places such as Great America, iFly, water parks and more! (Min/Max: 10/24). Instructor: BPD Staff .

Jr. Counselors in Training

AGES: 12 - 15 YEARS

Our Jr. Counselors in Training program is a four-day session for teens to learn how to lead and plan camp activities, implement safety procedures and understand the benefits of working in a team environment. This program is designed to help participants develop self-esteem, confidence and the ability to assume responsibility. Whether your teen is considering a camp counselor position, babysitting, or other “first job” opportunities, this program provides a valuable training experience. Upon completion of the program, students who wish to be considered for a volunteer position with the BPD must go through a formal interview process the week of 5/20. Participants attending the Jr. C.I.T. program MUST attend all 4 days of training to be considered for a volunteer aide position. Participants are NOT guaranteed a volunteer aide position at one of the Park District’s summer camps. If the Jr. C.I.T. attends all 4 classes and completes the interview process successfully, they will be placed at a camp to volunteer for one week of the summer. Jr. Lifeguarding

AGES: 11 - 14 YEARS

Looking for the next level of aqua challenge? Are you interested in Lifeguarding but not old enough? Introduction to Jr. Lifeguarding, a course taught by our pool leadership team, will teach you the basics of being a lifeguard. The first 2 weeks of the course will introduce participants to lifesaving skills, such as in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, first aid, CPR/AED and the responsibilities of being a lifeguard. As a Jr. Guard, you will also improve your swimming skills in order to help you successfully complete the course. Prerequisites: participants must have the ability to swim 150 meters using a basic stroke and tread water. This is a very popular class that fills quickly. Register now! K.E.E.P Summer Camp .

Perfect for working parents, K.E.E.P. Camp is a quality supervised recreation camp offered for children entering Kindergarten through sixth grade in the 24/25 School Year. Campers will enjoy a balanced blend of arts and crafts, STEAM, sports and games. Join us for one week or all nine, as each week will be new and different! Field trips in-house or off site will be held on Wednesdays! Swim days will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (weather permitting) and Fun-Tastic Friday, full of themed activities and games, will take place each Friday to end the week.

Before and after school care and days-off school program for children entering grades K - 5.

Perfect for working parents, our K.E.E.P. before and after school program has been a favorite family resource in the Barrington area for many years. This program is for children entering grades K-5 and are enrolled in the Barrington School District 220 schools listed below.

REGISTRATION BEGAN:

Current School Year Families (Priority Registration): Began at 9:00am on 2/7/24.

New Families:

• A.M. Program: 5 days ONLY, cereal and milk will be offered.

• P.M. Program: 5, 3 days or Wednesday only option, a variety of activities which may include outside play, arts and crafts, board games, manipulative toys, large motor skill activities and homework time. A light snack is offered.

Began on 3/7/24 at 9:00am for any available spots. Spots may be limited based on school and number of days care is needed.

• Busing: The Barrington Park District is NOT responsible for scheduling any transportation needs. If your child(ren) need to be bused to their “home” school for K.E.E.P., you must contact School District 220 to make arrangements and then update your child(ren)’s “student portal” before registering them for K.E.E.P.

• Days Off of School: There is no K.E.E.P. on days that School District 220 is not in session. The Barrington Park District may offer a day-off school program for an additional fee on certain days off. See page 26 for more information.

Slide Attendants: (training will be provided by the Barrington Park District) applicants must be at least 16 years old and able to certify in Red Cross CPR, First Aid and AED.

Swim Instructors: applicants must be at least 15 years old, able to demonstrate swimming abilities and the ability to teach children ages 3 and up.

Swim Team Coaches: applicants must be at least 15 years old, have experience on Swim Team, Water Polo, etc. and be able to demonstrate positive coaching skills.

Pool Pass Rules

• Pool passes are valid from May 25 - August 11, 2024.

• Pool passes must be purchased in person at the F&RC building. The Pool Pass Registration Form needed to purchase passes can be found on our website or at the F&RC front desk.

• Proof of residency is required to receive in-district rates and must be presented at the time of registration.

• ALL ADULTS in the same household must prove residency to be included on the Family Pool Pass. No exceptions.

• For both in and out-of-district patrons, proof of residency within the same household may be validated by a current driver’s license, state ID, passport, utility bills, tax bills, lease/rental agreements, etc.

• All family members must have their photo taken for the pool pass.

• Children under 36 months are not required to have a pool pass, but should be listed in your family’s household.

• Previous pool pass holders do not require a new pool pass ID; last year’s pass will be reactivated upon registration.

Our Infant/Tot Aquatics program for children ages 6 - 48 months will give parent and child an opportunity to participate in individual/group activities that promote adjustments to water skills such as front or back position in the water and demonstrating breath control, including blowing bubbles or voluntarily submerging under water. Age-appropriate water safety skills are also taught.

Preschool Aquatics

AGES: 3 - 5 YEARS WITHOUT PARENT

The Preschool Aquatics program is geared for children ages 3 - 5 and is a great way for children to gain confidence before taking Learn to Swim (levels 1 - 5) lessons. Participants will learn to become comfortable in the water so that they become willing and ready to learn to swim. Basic skills include entering and exiting the water, blowing bubbles, submerging mouth, nose, and eyes, front float/ glide, back float/glide. Age-appropriate water safety skills are also taught. (Min/Max: 3/5).

Group Youth Learn to Swim Program

AGES: 5 YEARS AND UP

The Learn to Swim Program is perfect for swimmers of all levels. Using the American Red Cross Instructional Aquatic Program, each level is progressive. Students begin at Level 1 and progress to Level 5 as they complete each level. Please register for the level that you feel best suits each participant’s current skill set. All students will be skill-tested on the first day of lessons for EACH SESSION to ensure that they are placed in the appropriate class. Students may be moved to a higher or lower skill group depending upon their age, individual comfort level and/or aquatic skills.

Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills

Introduction to Water Skills is for those who have progressed from our infant swim and preschool classes or who are just beginning to learn to swim. Students will learn to enter the water, blow bubbles, bob, open eyes underwater and retrieve objects. The basics of front and back floats, rolling from back to front and treading water are taught. Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills

Semi-Private Swim Lessons

AGES: ALL AGES

Get up to three of your friends or siblings together and sign up for semi-private swim lessons. All students in the lesson will be taught at the same skill level (see page 32 for level descriptions). Semi-private lessons are arranged around the schedule of the participants and the instructor. Lessons must be paid for in advance. Lessons are half-hour sessions. The exact dates and times will be arranged with the assigned instructor, who will contact you after June 8. Lessons must be completed by August 7. Private Swim Lessons

AGES 4 YEARS TO ADULT

Learn to swim with the benefit of a private instructor! One-on-one lessons will be set up on a first-come, first-served basis. Lessons must be paid for in advance. Lessons are half-hour sessions. The exact dates and times will be arranged with the assigned instructor, who will contact you after June 8. Lessons must be completed by August 7. LIFEGUARD TRAINING PROGRAM

Introduction to Jr. Lifeguarding

AGES: 12 – 14 YEARS

Looking for the next level of aqua challenge? Are you interested in Lifeguarding but not old enough? Introduction to Jr. Lifeguarding, a course taught by our pool leadership team, will teach you the basics of being a lifeguard. The first 2 weeks of the course will introduce participants to lifesaving skills, such as in water rescues, use of a rescue tube, first aid, CPR/AED and the responsibilities of being a lifeguard. As a Jr. Guard, you will also improve your swimming skills in order to help you successfully complete the course. Prerequisites: participants must have the ability to swim 150 yards using a basic stroke and tread water. This is a very popular class that fills quickly, so register now! Please bring swimsuit, towel and sunblock to class each day. Note: this class is VERY active and runs the Jr. Guards through an actual lifeguard training. (Min/Max: 5/10). Congratulations you passed the introduction to Jr. Lifeguarding class! How do you put those skills to use? Be a Jr. Lifeguard. Sign up for a 2 week session to shadow a lifeguard during their shift. Learn first-hand the practical skills needed to pursue a great summer career as a lifeguard. Jr. Lifeguards will receive a Jr. Guard suit that must be worn. Please bring a towel every day. Pre-Season Swim Stroke Clinic

AGES: 5 - 17 YEARS

This clinic is available for any qualified swimmer (see requirements below) who would like to dedicate extra time to his or her stroke technique before the season starts (this is not a swimming lesson). Coaches will be using fun and challenging techniques to enhance each swimmer’s stroke. Please bring a towel, swim suit, cap and goggles. Participants do not need to be a registered Stingrays Swim Team member.

Requirements

Ability to swim consistently for 30 minutes. Will require swimmer to perform at a challenging level. This is not a swim lesson. All age groups are welcome (5 - 17 yrs). Sign up for one or all three days!

Stingrays Swim Team

AGES: 5 - 14 YEARS

The Stingrays Swim Team is for anyone who loves to have fun and learn new swimming skills in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. From 6/10 - 7/26, students will work on strokes for speed, strength and endurance. Regular swim meets will be held against surrounding communities. Participants should have prior swimming experience; each child will be evaluated at a “mock” meet on 6/7/24 and will be required to complete an age-appropriate diagnostic assessment.

Guidelines & Rules

All participants will be assessed for proper placement (no exceptions). Anyone whose hair falls below the ears must wear a swim cap. Refunds will only be given in the case of physical impairment or parent job transfer. Mandatory parent meeting during the Mock Swim Team Meet on 6/7/24 at 5:00pm. (Min/Max: 5/30).

Aqua Aerobics: Circuit Challenge

This is a fun and exhilarating cardiovascular workout done in the 4-5ft area of the pool. Circuit Challenge is an interval circuit training using resistance with hand buoys, noodles and kickboards. For safety reasons, patrons must clear the pool deck when class is over. (Min/Max: 8/15).

Aqua Aerobics: Aqua Combat

AGES: 16 YEARS AND UP

Train like a fighter! This explosive aqua combat workout will have you striking and kicking like an MMA Pro. Gain muscular strength, endurance and coordination through water resistance training and choreographed mixed martial arts inspired movements. For safety reasons, patrons must clear the pool deck when class is over.

Lap Swim

Monday - Friday; June 10 – August 9 (No lap swim 7/4)

Lap swim is available to you if you are a pool pass holder, Fitness Center Member (Essential, Premium, Platinum, Ultimate or Fitness Classes memberships ONLY) or have purchased a lap swim pass (see below). Only pool pass holders may lap swim during normal pool hours. Lap swim hours may vary due to pool special events, weather or attendance.

Lap Swim Guidelines

If you purchased a lap swim pass, you are allowed to lap swim from 6:00 - 8:00am, Monday - Friday ONLY. The lap swim pass is valid during lap swim hours ONLY and must be swiped in order to swim (sorry, no exceptions). If you fail to bring your pass, you will be required to pay the pool daily fee in order to lap swim. Not responsible for lost or stolen pass cards.

Lap swimmers are expected to circle-swim to the right when there are more than two swimmers per lane. For the safety and comfort of our lap swimmers, lap swimming is available for patrons 14 and older who are able to demonstrate the following skills: rhythmic breathing, a structured stroke and the ability to continuously swim 100 yards using one of the four structured strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke or butterfly).

Freddie Herriman Pederson

The Freddie Herriman Pederson Splashpad is an ADA accessible water spray ground that will provide hours of summer fun for ALL children!

Splashpad will follow aquatic center holiday schedule (closes at 4:00pm on Memorial Day, Fourth of July). See page 29 for more information.

1. No attendant on duty. Parents or guardians are responsible for the supervision and conduct of their children at all times.

4. No alcohol or glass containers are allowed in the splashpad.

5. The water from the splashpad is not suitable for drinking. Please use the drinking fountain.

6. No running or rough play is allowed.

7. Only bare feet or aqua socks are allowed on the splashpad play surface.

8. Baby strollers or carriers are not allowed on the splashpad play surface.

9. Soap, shampoos, conditioners, lotions or body washes are not allowed on the splashpad play surface.

10. Only clean swim apparel may be worn on the splashpad play surface.

11. Children who are not toilet trained must wear tightly fitting plastic pants over a swim diaper.

12. When thunder is heard, lightning is seen, or the Thorguard System is activated, all patrons must seek shelter and there will be a minimum 30-minute wait with each lightning strike and/or thunder heard.

13. The facility will not open if the air temperature is less than 68 degrees.

14. Climbing on the features and fences is not allowed.

15. The splashpad may close due to: inclement weather, mechanical breakdown, health code requirements or Park District programming.

16. The Barrington Park District has the discretion to make changes at any time for the safety of our patrons.

17. Chairs may not be brought into the splashpad area.

Rental Information

A guest list will need to be turned in to the rental coordinator at least 2 days prior to the rental. For weekend rentals, the information must be turned in by Friday, 5:00pm.

The guest lists must include all individuals entering the pool over the age of two. There is a fee for ALL guests whether they will be swimming or not. You will NOT be required to pay for guests who have current pool passes or guests who do not attend. Please remind your guests to bring their pool passes with them.

Parties are allowed to bring their own coolers with refreshments to the rental area. Please note: refrigerator or freezer space is not available to store your food, cake or ice cream.

Glass containers and alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed. Please keep food within the designated lawn rental area. No food will be allowed on the pool deck at any time.

Cancellation Policy: you may reschedule your pool party for another date if the weather is not ideal. Refunds will not be granted unless the Park District closes the pool during the time of your scheduled pool lawn rental.

Pool Closing Policy: at the discretion of the Pool Manager, Aqualusion may be closed at anytime without prior notice for inclement weather, mechanical breakdown, health code requirements or Park District programming (air temperature 68 degrees or less, severe weather, etc).

For the safety of all pool users, we ask that participants adhere to the following rules. Rule infractions are cause for dismissal from the pool.

1. Admittance is by membership (pass) or daily use fee. All persons entering the pool, including spectators, must pay a fee.

2. Season pass holders must have their pass scanned by the front desk personnel in order to enter the pool locker room and pool area.

3. Children 10 and under must be under constant supervision of a person 16 years or older. For safety reasons, children may not be left unattended on the pool deck or in the concession areas.

4. Children 5 years and older are not permitted in the locker room of the opposite gender. Children must be prepared to change their clothing or walk through the locker room on their own, if necessary. When possible, the Park District recommends that a parent or adult chaperone of the same sex accompany the child through the locker room.

5. Pictures may not be taken in the locker room.

6. FAMILY FRIENDLY lined bathing suits are required to enter water (unlined, mesh or cut-off shorts, spandex, sports bras, boxer shorts, leotards, or t-shirts are not allowed).

7. Adults are given priority for chairs.

8. ONLY US COASTGUARD APPROVED LIFE JACKETS ARE ALLOWED. LIFE JACKETS MUST BE APPROVED BY THE MANAGER PRIOR TO USAGE. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO WATER WINGS OR FLOATS ALLOWED.

9. Food and beverages are only permitted in the concession and grass areas. NO FOOD ALLOWED ON DECK PER IDPH.

10. Children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers or tight fitting plastic pants.

11. Smoking, of any kind, and ALCOHOL are not permitted. Patrons smoking or under the influence will be asked to leave.

12. Strollers must be placed in grass areas only.

13. Headfirst diving is only permitted from the diving board.

14. Glass in any form is prohibited.

15. No running on the pool deck.

16. Children over 8 years old are not permitted in the zero depth pool.

17. Street shoes are not allowed on the pool decks.

18. All swimmers are encouraged to shower before entering the pool.

19. All other state and local health codes apply.

20. Children must be at least 42” tall to use any of the body or drop slides.

21. Cell phones or Bluetooth devices may not be used at any time while in the water; this includes the zero depth pool.

Zero-Depth Pool (Baby Pool)

For children ages 0 to 8; this small pool features water from zero to 2.5 feet and offers water play features including a polar bear slide.

Activity Pool

This pool offers a depth of 2.5 to 5 feet and features two 160-foot flume slides and three lap lanes (children must be at least 42" tall to use the slides).

Deep Well Pool

The Deep Well pool is 12 feet deep and features two 10-foot drop slides and a onemeter diving board (children must be at least 42" tall to use the Deep Well pool).

Locker Room

Men’s and women’s locker rooms are available. See Aqualusion Pool Rules for guidelines when using locker rooms with children.

Concessions

Concessions are available throughout the day when the pool is open to the public (see pool open swim hours on page 29).

Pool Closings

The following conditions may warrant closing of the Aqualusion Pool: inclement weather (i.e. thunder, lightning, tornado), air temperature below 68OF, low attendance, mechanical breakdown and/or health code requirements. Pool may close early for special events/park programming.

About Us

For over three decades, the BPD Preschool has been built on the understanding that your child’s happiness and growth are very important. We offer a play-based program with an emphasis on social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language development. Teachers encourage curiosity and strive to develop a love for learning. Each preschool day has a balanced schedule designed to address all developmental domains important to your child’s growth and development. We encourage children to socialize, interact cooperatively and gain independence so they can reach their full potential. With the support of the amazing Park District facilities, parks and amenities, there is so much for your child to explore!

Curriculum/Facility

The preschool program includes both group and individual activities throughout the day that are play- based. Meaningful play encourages curiosity, discovery and problem solving. In our classrooms, you will find busy, happy children engaged in math, art, science, language, literacy, dramatic play, music and motor activities. Our school uses the Jolly Phonics© program (also used by School District 220) with all classes to help children learn letter sounds. We follow the Illinois Early Learning Standards and the State of Illinois DCFS guidelines. We offer 3 classrooms, a large motor room, gym and a fenced-in playground dedicated to the preschool program. Our rooms remain securely locked during school hours. Each classroom has a bathroom with a child-size toilet and sink.

Staff

There are two teachers in each classroom with a maximum of sixteen to twenty children based on the class (less for the Mini’s class). Teachers work as a team. Every preschool teacher is professionally qualified and dedicated to the education and development of each child enrolled in the program. Teachers keep current in teaching methods through training and attendance at educational seminars throughout the year.

Northwest Nature Preschool

AGES: 2½ - 5 YEARS OLD BY 9/1/24 (SEE BELOW)

Education comes alive in the great outdoors! The Northwest Nature Preschool will be located at Citizens Park with daily hikes in the Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve. Facilitated by a certified preschool teacher in partnership with the Barrington Park District, this cooperative preschool provides a developmentally appropriate, Reggio Emilia-inspired early childhood education that promotes respect for people and nature through outdoor learning. The program offers an ALL-OUTDOOR preschool experience that fosters curiosity, compassion, empathy, cultural awareness, creative problem solving and environmental responsibility in young children. Our goal is to instill respect for people, plants, and animals at an early age, setting the foundation for children to become responsible citizens and environmental stewards. As part of our cooperative, parents are welcomed but not obligated to join our parent-teacher advisory committee or volunteer with the class.

Morning and afternoon sessions available!

The preschool is instructed and managed by Oak Leaf Cooperative School. Please note this is an OUTDOOR preschool and parents are responsible for providing all outdoor weather-appropriate clothing. In case of severe weather like dangerously low temperatures or lightning, we will utilize the Lodge at Citizens Park for indoor learning. Should there be an onset of heavy snow, class will be held at Langendorf Park that day due to plowing schedules. This will be communicated to parents in advance. Children must be potty-trained, or a parent/ caregiver must be available to change a diaper or pull-up. (Min/Max: 8/10). Instructor: Oak Leaf Cooperative School Certified Preschool Teacher.

LOCATION: Outside at Citizens Park. If there is severe weather (i.e. if Thorguard System is activated and/or unsafe conditions arise) we will move inside to the Lodge. Otherwise the program is outside rain, shine or snow.

TUITION/FEES: $688/$763 per month x9 months per session. Tuition is charged monthly via auto payment on a credit card starting 9/10/24 through 5/10/25. Tuition is based on the total number of school days/cost of the program and divided into 9 equal payments.

REGISTRATION FEE: A $65 non-refundable registration fee per child is due upon registration.

CANCELLATION POLICY: All cancellation REQUESTS must be submitted in writing by 7/15/24. Once the school year begins, the only exceptions are medical or moving out of the area (ten mile radius) and documentation must be shown for approval. Possible refund will be based on the number of classes attended and the date the refund request is received.

Let’s get the creativity flowing! Each week we will introduce a new theme for a hands-on, child-led art project. We will start class with children exploring, playing and socializing at different centers that are set up throughout the preschool classroom. We will spend the last 20 minutes of class creating an art project and enjoying circle time. A parent/caregiver must attend each class with the child and be able to assist them with the project. Yoga Camp: School’s Out for Summer!

AGES: 4 - 6 YEARS WITHOUT ADULT

Come join us for a morning filled with yoga, mindfulness and meditation! The Park’s Preschool Teacher and certified Yoga Instructor, Ms. Emily, will give your child an introduction to yoga in a fun and positive atmosphere. Each day will include play-based themed stations, an interactive circle time with music and movement, a craft, a yoga themed story and mini yoga sessions. Weather permitting we will go outside to practice our skills. All activities will be new and different from previous one-day yoga camps. Each day of camp will introduce new yoga practices and activities. The Barrington Park District will provide yoga mats or you can bring one from home. Come explore the world of books and so much more with Ms. Adriana! This class is designed for those who are ready to start navigating and socializing on their own. We will learn through play and teach those emerging social skills to help prepare your little one for preschool in the fall. Each week, Ms. Adriana will read a new book. The day’s theme will focus around that story. Fun activities and stations focusing on large and fine motor skills, literacy, art and more will be set up. Please note: This is a drop-off class without parent/caregiver. Tiny Cheers: Intro to Cheerleading

GRADES: K - 2 IN FALL 2024

Can’t wait to start cheering? Tiny Cheers is for you! Tiny Cheers is BPD’s no-cut program for cheerleaders entering grades K-2. Cheerleaders will be learning cheers and a short routine during practice. Performance opportunities such as cheering at BYF Football games or marching in the Homecoming Parade may be added during the season! This is a great opportunity to learn cheers as well as meet new friends, learn about the importance of teamwork, and most importantly, have fun! LEVEL INFORMATION:

Pre Classes: Very basic introduction to dance. Ages: 2 - 4 years. No previous dance experience required.

Level I Classes: An introduction to a given style or styles of dance technique, class etiquette and basic choreography. Approximate ages: 4 – 7 years. No previous dance experience required.

Level II Classes: An intermediate approach to a given style or styles of dance technique, class etiquette and choreography with a faster-pace teaching style. Dancers are encouraged to retain and perform skills and routines and express themselves through performance. Approximate ages: 7 - 10 years. No previous dance experience required but recommended.

Level III Classes: An intermediate-advanced teaching approach of a given style or styles of dance technique, class etiquette and choreography. Students will be held more accountable to retain and perform skills and routines and to express themselves individually through performance. Approximate ages: 8 - 14 years or instructor approval. Previous dance experience preferred.

Adult Ballet/Jazz Combo: Have you always wanted to increase flexibility, strength and body control? There’s no better way to do that than through dance! Whether you are a beginner or returning to dance after an absence, come and see how much fun dance can be for YOU too. We will incorporate a classic ballet barre and blend it with the upbeat and stylish moves of Jazz in the center. Dress code: comfortable clothing that you can move freely in, ballet shoes and jazz shoes.

Ballet: This is a traditional ballet class that focuses on technique. We will explore the ballet barre and center combinations to increase coordination and poise. Dress code: girls: pink ballet shoes (no slippers), leotard and tights (skirts are okay). Boys: white shirt, black dance pants and black ballet shoes.

Ballet/Tap Combo: This is a primary course that introduces ballet technique and class etiquette including ballet positions, basic ballet vocabulary, across the floor exercises, simple steps, correct posture and ballet choreography. This class also includes an introduction to tap technique, vocabulary and fun upbeat music to encourage dancers to open doors to all styles of dance! Dress code: girls: pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes, tights, leotard and hair pulled back off the face. Boys: black dance pants, black ballet shoes and black tap shoes.

Bitty Ballet (with adult)*: This is the perfect introduction class for your little one who loves to dance around the house. Parents are able to stay in the room and can interact with their little one. Bitty Ballet is the best way to introduce young children to dance and creative movement. We are dedicated to instilling a love of dance in toddlers and having fun at the same time. Dress code: girls: pink ballet shoes (no slippers), leotard and tights (tutus are okay). Boys: black dance pants and black ballet shoes. This class does NOT perform in the Spring Recital.

Contemporary Jazz: This class focuses on technique involving expression, jumps and turns, flexibility and strength. We will explore different styles of jazz set to popular music. Dress code: girls: tan jazz shoes, leotard and tights. Boys: black pants and black jazz shoes.

Hip Hop +Plus: An introduction for students focusing on developing a foundation of basic hip hop movements, across the floor exercises and choreography. This class also incorporates beginner hip hop technique which focuses on learning fundamental hip hop steps and basic vocabulary. Dress code: girls: black hip hop shoes, leotard or workout clothes (no jeans, sweats or restrictive clothing, etc.). Boys: black dance pants and black hip hop shoes.

Lyrical: Do you love to feel the music? Come and learn how to dance using passion and emotions to tell a story. Lyrical uses a blend of ballet and jazz to create a beautiful expression of movement. Dress code: girls: tan jazz shoes, footless tights. Boys: black jazz shoes and black pants.

Modern/Contemporary: Modern dance is a form of dance which encourages the freedom of expression, improvisation, innovation and creative exploration of movement. Students focus on movement from the inside out, encouraging use of breath, energy and connection. Dress code: girls: bare feet, leotard, or non-restrictive clothing. Boys: bare feet, black dance pants or non-restrictive clothing.

Tiny Ballet (without parent): Tiny Ballerina introduces and develops beginning ballet concepts including turn out, coordination, spatial awareness and a specific focus on class etiquette. Meet our newest Dance Teacher: Katherine Mroczkowski

Miss Kat is a former member of Team USA for Rhythmic Gymnastics and has represented the US around the world at competitions, classes and training camps, including the 2010 World Cup in Montreal, Canada. She has received extensive gymnastics and ballet training at the Lake Placid and Colorado Springs Olympic training centers in the USA and at the Novogorsk Olympic training center in Russia and continued her dance career further under the training of Autumn Eckman and Homer Hans Bryant at the Lou Conte and Giordano dance centers in Chicago. She is proud to have instructed Team USA members, Special Olympians and performers all around the country.

Comic Book Workshop

AGES: 7 YEARS AND UP (SEE BELOW)

In this workshop we will discover the different languages of comics from the eyes, to the body positions, to the actual language of speech bubbles. We will see how simple lines can bring a whole spectrum of emotions to eyes and we will try this language on our favorite cartoons. To bring out the fun and creativity, you will see pandas juggling, axolotls playing the guitar and anything else that we brainstorm together. After seeing just how easy cartooning is, we will synthesize everything we learned into generating a six-panel comic TOGETHER! By the end, we will have discovered how to generate anything into a cartoon, as well as the ins and outs of creating a comic with plot, resolution, dialogue, onomatopoeia and much more! Everyone will go home with stickers, bookmarks and other gifts!

NASA Camp: Academy of Future Space Explorers

Mad Science has teamed up with NASA in a quest for exploration! We’ll take a voyage of discovery into the atmosphere and beyond as we explore planets, moons and other space phenomena in our solar system. Things will heat up as we examine the sun and other stars while we discover the difficulties of space travel. Kids will get a firsthand experience of the challenges of living in space as they try to assemble a satellite while training to be an astronaut. For added fun, we’ll learn about the various technologies that make space exploration possible while bouncing lasers around the room! Fashion and Design Sewing Camp

AGES 7 - 13 YEARS

Love Fashion? Want to design your own clothing? You can learn it here! Students will work on a different project each day, gaining a great sense of accomplishment after they see each garment come to life. There is a fashion show at the end of the week for the students to showcase all of their hard work. Register your child today for the best week of summer! ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Chris Steinmetz’s career in LA took off quickly as he spent his first three sessions working with Paul Simon (Graceland), John Denver, and David Lee Roth. Within a year, Producer Michael Wagener took notice of Steinmetz and hired him to engineer many classic 80s hard rock albums. During his time in LA, Steinmetz also did freelance work for many other bands such as Kiss (with Producer Bob Ezrin) and Alice in Chains as well as many feature films.

In 1996, Steinmetz moved back to his native Chicago to be closer to family. He served as Chief Engineer at Chicago Trax before beginning a 10-year run as Senior Music Producer/Engineer at the Chicago Recording Company. Provided with access to Chicago’s growing music scene, Steinmetz’s normal clientele began to integrate hard rock and hip-hop. Between 2004 and 2008 alone, he received credits on albums by Kanye West, Disturbed, Rihanna, Twista, Lil Jon, Usher, E-dub, and Jin with all recordings going platinum or gold. During this time, Steinmetz also helped to pioneer the field of music mixing in 5.1 Surround Sound.

Chris Steinmetz created his own label, Stonecutter Records, in 2006 out of the desire to “advance artists to the next level in their careers and get them the exposure they deserve.” The label’s first project, Acoustic Chicago, is a compilation of 13 Chicago artists and features their music in an acoustic format to highlight songwriting ability.

Currently, Steinmetz splits his time between working as a freelance Music Producer/Engineer/Mixer, running his label Stonecutter Records and his newest creation, Stonecutter Studios.

Private Drum Lessons

These one-on-one private lessons are designed for both children and adults that are beginners, intermediate or advanced in their skill level. Training is a great way to build relationships between kids and dogs. Children will learn how to communicate clearly with the family dog, and the dog learns to respond to cues from kids, not just adults. Semi-private dog obedience allows for more time to focus on issues, obedience and concerns you may have. Babysitting Training

AGES: 11 - 15 YEARS

The newly revised American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course gives eleven to fifteen-year-olds the skills and confidence to be great babysitters. This course is fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, exciting videos, role-plays and lively discussions. It teaches young people how to:

• care for children and infants

• be good leaders and role models

• make good decisions, solve problems and stay safe

• handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents

• write resumés and interview for jobs

• use the latest science in first aid and cardiovascular care

Students will receive engaging new products to help them be prepared and professional, including: Babysitters Training Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide, Training CD-ROM and Mini First Aid Kit. In order to receive certification, participants must be present for the entire class. Please bring a baby-like doll, pencil, paper and sack lunch to class. Participants arriving 15 minutes after the program has begun will not be admitted to class. (Min/Max: 6/12).

This is the perfect class for teachers or staff members who need to be certified but are on a budget. Based on your requirements, this group training class can be for Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED, First Aid or a Combo Class. Groups must have at least four participants and a maximum of twelve. Each group will be given one training manual to keep, and everyone will receive access to free digital course materials. A group leader will register the members and make one payment. Created by a U.S. Navy SEAL, Suspension Training bodyweight exercise develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously.

TRX™ Fundamentals (TRX™ stands for Total Resistance Exercises) is a class designed to introduce participants to Suspension Training fitness. Led by a BPD Certified Personal Trainer, this class teaches the basics of Suspension Training for total body resistance. TRX™ is a great option for anyone, from athletes to seniors, who want to improve their overall fitness without the need for machines, barbells, dumbbells or other implements.

TRX™ Fundamentals will cover the basics of the suspension trainer using the seven TRX™ foundational movement patterns: squat, pull, hinge, push, lunge, rotate and plank.

Membership Refund Policy/Cancellations

A Fitness Cancellation Request Form must be completed, dated and signed by the Health and Fitness Manager. Cancellations and/or refunds will not be processed if any paperwork is missing or incomplete. A cancellation fee equal to one month’s dues will be applied to all 3-month and 12-month memberships. Refunds for Punch Cards and Personal Training will be prorated. Proper paperwork must accompany the Fitness Cancellation Refund Request Form (i.e. doctor’s note, closing documents, etc.).

Annual Memberships:

• Refunds will only be given in case of medical restrictions or moving out of the area (ten mile radius).

EFT Memberships:

All-Levels Yoga

Flex It

Totally Tone is not pre-choreographed and gives your workout a “change” factor, working every major muscle group in each session. Fit Teen Orientation

The Park District is proud to offer our exclusive Fit Teen Program for teens between the ages of 14 - 17. Fitness is essential for maintaining a healthy mind and body, preventing injury, disease, loss of mobility and mental decline. Establishing good habits at a young age gives teens an early advantage to enjoy quality of life as an adult.

Fit Teens will learn how to use fitness equipment properly and with the correct form, along with spotting techniques for lifting with a friend, all under the guidance of a Park District Certified Personal Trainer. Our Trainer will demonstrate how to use the cardio, strength and free weight machines and explain the Fitness Center Etiquette and Code of Conduct, ensuring that expectations are clear from the onset of the teen’s fitness membership.

Fitness Assessment

Fitness assessments are available for anyone wishing to evaluate his or her current fitness level. One of our certified personal trainers will conduct each assessment, which may include but is not limited to the following:

• Cardio respiratory fitness and blood pressure.

• Body weight and body fat percentage.

• Body mass index (BMI) and skeletal muscle.

• Visceral fat (fat surrounding your organs).

• Flexibility, muscular strength and endurance.

• Postural and functional movement.

Once your results are in, the trainer will contact you to come in and go over all of the results with you. Contact the Fitness Center at (847) 304-5279 to schedule your appointment. Participants should wear comfortable, active clothing. Each person is required to sign an Informed Consent Form and complete a brief health history prior to the assessment. A doctor’s release may be necessary. Fee: $45.

Fitness Center Regulations

Fitness Center Orientation

Orientation lasts approximately 1/2 hour and is designed to provide basic instruction on how to use the fitness equipment and familiarize members with the Fitness Center Regulations (see below). (New members ages 14 - 17 years are required to complete an orientation session before their passes will be issued.) Orientations are scheduled throughout the week; please contact the Fitness Center for an appointment (847) 304-5279.

Fit Teen Orientation

Required prior to fitness membership registration under the guidance of one of our Certified Personal Trainers, teens ages 14-17 years will learn how to use fitness equipment properly and with the correct form, including spotting techniques for lifting with a friend. Our Trainer will explain how to use our cardio, strength and free weight machines and also ensure that each teen understands the Fitness Center Etiquette and Code of Conduct so that expectations are clear from the onset of the teen’s fitness membership. In order to provide a safe and friendly exercise environment, Fitness Center members are expected to abide by all rules deemed necessary by the Park District.

Memberships

• New members ages 14 - 17 years must complete a mandatory Fit Teen Orientation before membership will be issued.

• Members must swipe their pass card for entry into the Fitness Center.

• Memberships are non-transferable.

• We offer two types of payment plans for yearly memberships: annual payment which reflects a 10% discount or monthly Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

• Registration form must be completely filled out, with waiver signed and dated.

• ID required – for resident rates, proof of residency is required.

• College Student Memberships – must show a current College ID and proof of age (18 to 23 years).

• Payment for membership in full via cash, check or major credit card.

• Annual price reflects a 10% discount.

EFT Payment Plan

The Park District Fitness & Recreation Center offers a convenient monthly payment plan using automatic deductions from your credit card account.

• EFT memberships are perpetual (ongoing until a cancellation form is completed and turned in).

• A one-year (twelve-month) commitment is required.

• Monthly rates are based on a twelve-month commitment, after which membership converts to month-to-month.

• Prices are subject to change after the one-year commitment is fulfilled.

• Credit cards only (AMEX not accepted for EFT).

Membership Refund/Cancellation Policy

A Fitness Cancellation Request Form must be completed, dated and signed by the Health and Fitness Manager. Cancellations and/or refunds will not be processed if any paperwork is missing or incomplete. A cancellation fee equal to one month’s dues will be applied to all 3-month and 12-month memberships. Refunds for Punch Cards and Personal Training will be prorated. Proper paperwork must accompany the Fitness Cancellation Request Form (i.e. doctor’s note, closing documents, etc.).

Annual Memberships:

• Refunds will only be given in case of medical restrictions or moving out of the area (ten mile radius).

EFT Memberships:

• A cancellation fee equal to one month’s dues will be applied if cancelling within the first year of the membership under qualifying cancellation policies.

• A Fitness Cancellation Request Form must be received by the first of the month to avoid the current month’s charge.

Age Restrictions

• All Fitness Center members must be at least 14 years old. Ages 14 - 17 years must complete a mandatory Fit Teen Orientation.

• Members under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign all waivers and forms at the time of orientation registration and membership purchase.

• There are no time restrictions on teen and college student memberships. Teen and college students may use the fitness center facility during regular business hours.

Personal Belongings, Dress and Etiquette

• Personal belongings (bags, coats, etc.) must be kept in a locker at all times. No overnight storage is allowed.

• Members must dress appropriately. Shirts and gym shoes are required (no street shoes or sandals; you must change into workout shoes).

• Slamming and dropping of weights and talking on cell phones while in the Fitness Center is strictly prohibited.

T-Ball League Play

AGES: 3 - 7 YEARS (SEE BELOW)

It’s time to take your game up a level! Come out and play some serious T-Ball with 5 Star Sports and the Barrington Park District! Each team will be coached by 5 Star Sports’s coaches, so every practice will have its own lesson. The teams will all play each other, and then there will be a playoff system determined by the number of teams in the league. The 5 - 7 year olds will also get the chance to face live pitching! With three-inning games and eightplayer teams, the games won’t take too long, and with trophies and jerseys, everyone will leave with a souvenir and a smile. Pick up a bat, put on a glove and get out to the baseball diamond with 5 Star Sports! Our T-Ball classes teach the fundamentals in a fun and interactive way. In this program, your little one will learn to hit, throw, field and run the bases like a pro! Bats are provided, so we only ask that you bring your own glove. Baseball Hitting Clinic

This program gives you and your child an opportunity to bond and have fun together while learning a variety of sports. The Barrington Park District operates a 5-hole, par 3 Golf Learning Center located on Carl Avenue, 2 blocks west of Rt. 59, just south of Rt. 14. From April 1 to November 1, the course is open daily from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. Park District programs have priority over golf course usage. Lesson and league times are posted on the course information board at the first tee. All ages are welcome to enjoy the game of golf at our Golf Learning Center.

GOLF LEARNING CENTER ETIQUETTE & SAFETY RULES

For the enjoyment of all, we ask all participants to observe the following safety and etiquette guidelines. Proper golf etiquette plays a large role in the game; it’s important that even the youngest players learn to obey proper etiquette. Inappropriate behavior will result in the golfer being asked to leave the course (no refund given).

1. Any child under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult (adults must be 16 years and up).

2. Both in practice and play, always make sure that no one is near you when you swing the club and no one is ahead of you where your shot might hit them.

3. Golfers must direct all balls at the appropriate greens only.

4. Always stand still when another player is playing. Do not talk.

5. Be ready to play when it is your turn.

6. If someone else is playing from the tee, do not tee your ball until he or she has played.

7. Do not tee off until the fairway and the green are clear of all golfers.

8. Never take more than one practice swing, if any.

9. When you are playing slowly or looking for a lost ball, ask the group behind you to play through (skip ahead of you) so you do not slow everyone down.

10. Write down scores on the way to the next hole, not on the green you are leaving.

This class introduces youngsters to the basics of golf in a relaxed, entertaining and safe environment. The proper swing action and FUNdamentals will be taught. The style of our club is Shotokan Karate. We believe it takes extreme courage to do great things. Reality-Based Self-Defense for Teens & Adults

AGES: 16 YEARS AND UP

Have you ever worried what you would do if you were the target of criminal violence? Could you protect yourself or the ones you love? If the above questions have ever been a concern, you will find both the skills and understanding with this training!

This program is tailored to busy individuals that do not have time to commit to formal marital arts training. It is a reality-based self-defense system blended with the sciences of anatomy and sports physiology.

All training is done with the following assumptions:

• Your attacker(s) are bigger, stronger, or have weapons.

• You are already being attacked (and your options to get away are gone).

It is a simple, safe, and devastatingly effective program using intuitive movements that anyone can do regardless of physical ability. It is slow paced with minimal stress. Students will learn to accurately target vulnerable structures and areas of the human body, build mental sight pictures and muscle memory – all with the goal to recall and use when it’s most needed.

No prior martial arts training is required. If this is your first experience with self-defense, or it has been some time since your last self-defense training, please register for the 1-Day Workshop in addition to the 6-week class.

This class is taught by Sensei Michael Christesen with over 30 years of martial arts instruction that includes Shotokan Karate, Jeet Kune Do, Japanese Jujitsu and Reality Based Self-Defense.

Chicago Union Ultimate Frisbee Camp

AGES: 6 - 13 YEARS

Ultimate is a fast, fun, easy-to-learn field game played with a disc. It is a non-contact sport combining the athleticism of running and agility with the skills of throwing and catching. Players advance the disc by completing passes to teammates. The Chicago Union offers this week-long camp introducing basic rules, throwing and catching techniques and offensive/defensive strategies to develop skills through games and activities that emphasize teamwork, good sportsmanship, and the joy of play. Participants also receive a Chicago Union disc, replica jersey, and 4 tickets to a home game. Tennis classes will not be prorated. Those who cannot complete a class due to injury/health reasons may receive a prorated refund after submitting a doctor’s note. Pickle Spears - Up/Down Split Pickleball League

AGES: 16 YEARS AND UP

DO I HAVE TO BE ANY GOOD? - All skill levels welcome, but players must know how to keep score.

ROLLIN’ SOLO - Players sign up weekly, as individuals, and will be paired with different teammates throughout the night. One of the best parts of Pickleball is the community of players. What better way to meet new Pickleballers than by playing with new partners and opponents every game?

LET’S PLAY (PICKLE)BALL! - 6 - 8 games will be played each night, depending on enrollment. Games will last for a total of 12 minutes.

RUN UP THE SCORE - There will be no sets, it’s all points. Try and score as many as you can before time runs out!

THE UP / DOWN - The team with the most points when the time is up will go up a court and split partners. The losing team will go down a court and split partners. This will lead to players at a similar skill level playing together.

THE SPLIT - When you go up or down and split, the player from each team who finished on the serving side (right side on your respective court) will swap sides.

ADD ‘EM UP - Scores will be tallied up after each night, and accumulate throughout the season. The more weeks you sign up for, the more points you can accumulate!

FINISHING STRONG - The top 24 players will qualify for the playoffs on 8/20; players ranked #1 - #12 will compete in the Real Dill Division, and players ranked #13 - #24 will compete in the Bread & Butter Bracket. Winners for each level will win a prize!

Pickle Pals outdoor pickleball league

Bring your partner and your paddle, and get ready to Pickle!

AGES: 16 YEARS AND UP

This recreational league will have 8 weeks of play, which will conclude with a tournament for all teams. We will have two skill levels; Just Picklin’ for those players who are looking to have some fun, in a semi-competitive atmosphere and Picklin’ Hard for those players looking to dominate the competition. Teams will also be able to designate a “Paddle Pal” who can fill in as a sub when one of your teammates cannot attend. Levels may be combined due to enrollment.

Pick-up/drop-off location is at the Park District Fitness and Recreation Center lobby unless otherwise noted. We depart promptly at the times listed. If changes occur, participants will be notified by phone or e-mail. Return times may vary depending on traffic and/or weather conditions; we make every attempt to return by the designated time.

Refunds

Refunds are only given under the following conditions:

1: The trip is canceled by the Barrington Park District.

2: The person asking for a refund finds a replacement for the trip.

3: The Park District has a waiting list and is able to sell your ticket.

4: If we have not met our registration minimum by the deadline date.

All payments are required in full at time of registration. Please notify the Park District in advance if any special ADA or dietary accommodations are needed for the trip.

Enjoy cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and hash brown casserole. Then we journey on to Deitricks’ Alpaca Ranch. Come and enjoy the “alpaca lifestyle” on a 50-acre farm in scenic Prophetstown, Illinois. These 72 gentle and curious alpacas will delight and charm as you feed, learn, and play. The afternoon will continue at the National Museum of the American Soldier for a presentation and tour. We will finish the day at Ft. The Barrington Area Council on Aging (Bacoa) presents a senior activity and lunch program at the Fitness & Recreation Center on Mondays from 10:30am to 1:00pm. This program strives to bring Barrington area seniors together (ages 50 and up) for the purpose of social, recreational and educational activities. Everyone is welcome, so bring a friend with you! Reservations for the catered lunch must be made one week in advance. Please call Bacoa at (847) 381-5030 for more information. The senior lunch and bingo program is a partnership between Bacoa and the BPD.

The Barrington Park District offers a variety of Challenge Programs designed to meet the needs of a wide diversity of groups. All of our programs are designed to bring together or strengthen your group, and are tailored to meet your specific needs and goals. We believe that participants absorb more when they are physically, socially, intellectually and emotionally involved in the learning process. Our trained facilitators engage groups in activities that allow the participants to take ownership of their learning. Each program allows time for the participants to discuss the experience and relate the learning outcomes back to “real world” situations.

Teams Challenge Course: A variety of problem-based initiatives awaits the team as they are given challenges that might use ropes, cables, platforms, boards or a 12-foot wall. All challenges require teamwork from every member in order to accomplish the goal. Individual strengths are highlighted and the small group size allows for participation by everyone. These challenges take place on or near the ground and require focus, cooperation and trust. Over 20 stations are spread throughout the wooded trails.

Cooperative Games: Learn team-building skills while playing fun, active games. Cooperation, communication, strategy and good sportsmanship are stressed. Great for younger-aged groups!

Enjoy a supervised fun open gym time with stories, songs, parachute games, bubbles and more! Our instructor will lead the guest of honor and friends through a themed obstacle course with music, movement and dancing. LEGO Parties

USEL/Chasewood Learning offers exciting and fun hands-on birthday parties centered around robotics! Choose from two party options.

LEGO Robotics Party

Robotics is a fun hands-on activity where kids make small robotic projects that move and make sounds. Children work together in small groups to build and program projects using LEGOs, motors, gears and pulleys. These parts that make up robots are used to create a robotic soccer kicker and goalie, a robotic chomping crocodile and more!

LEGO Battlebots Party

Battlebots is an exciting activity where competition robots go head-tohead, attempting to push each other off of a sumo mat. Children will work together in teams to create basic motorized robots using LEGO parts. These robots are built to block, push and disable other robots in a fun and friendly competition!

In addition to playing with the balloons, kids can decorate their animals with stickers and markers. At the end of the party, they can take home their very own balloon animal collections. Coaches will transform the gym into an arena for kids to battle and play fun competitive games. NERF has many benefits including teamwork, exercise, disciplined fun and learning to balance competition with good sportsmanship. Each child MUST have eye protection to participate. They may bring their own guns, but we will provide extra NERF guns and the “ammo” in order to prevent losing their own equipment. Party package NOT available December - April. The Jewel Tea Pavilion at Citizens Park is perfect for weddings, receptions, bridal/baby showers and more. This 1,900-square-foot space has a full commercial catering kitchen and can accommodate up to 110 people. It can be used year round; it is both heated and air-conditioned and comes complete with a woodburning fireplace! The Pavilion also has the ability to become a fully open-air space with state-ofthe-art retractable glass doors.

Reservations are taken after February 1 of each year. Shelters are available for rent during the months of June through August on weekends ONLY. Each shelter holds 50 people comfortably. Langendorf Park has a large shaded picnic area near the playgrounds and baseball fields. Shelter “F” features electric and restroom facilities. Groups of 400 can be accommodated. The “F” Shelter will not be avilable to rent after August 11, 2024 due to construction.

Features 4 multi-purpose rooms and is located at 560 Carl Ave.

• Bash Skate Park

Hours are from 9am to dusk daily, Season dates TBD based upon weather and construction. Skate at your own risk; the Bash Skate Park is not supervised. Protective gear is highly recommended (helmets, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads). The Park District is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or lost or stolen items. The Skate Park will be closed after August 11, 2024.

Rentals are for recreation use only, unless otherwise approved. All rentals are by the hour with a maximum of 2 hours, unless otherwise approved, and can be rented from 7:00am - 8:00pm. Courts are not lit. Rental applications and payment will be accepted at the front desk during regularly scheduled hours. No refunds. If weather is inclement, rental will be transferred to an alternate date and must be rescheduled by the end of the year. Maximum of eight people per court. Paddle and ball rental is available at the front desk during office hours. Fees apply. Courts will not be available after August 11, 2024 due to construction.

Langendorf Aquatic Center - Located In Langendorf Park

• Freddie Herriman Pederson Splashpad (Summer Season ONLY)

The Freddie Herriman Pederson Splashpad is an ADA accessible water spray ground that will provide hours of summer fun for ALL children. The splashpad can also be rented for private parties, visit our website for more information.

• Aqualusion Pool (Summer Season ONLY)

Our amazing pool is ideal for group-oriented gatherings and parties. The entire facility is available to rent Saturday through Sunday during the evenings from 8:15 - 10:00pm. Maximum of 300 participants per private party. Our pool lawn areas may also be rented Monday through Sunday during open swim hours (12:30 - close). Lawns are rented on a 2-hour minimum basis (no alcoholic beverages or glass containers permitted), visit our website for more information.

• Group Training Studio

In the Training Studio, patrons work in a small group led by a Certified Personal Trainer using fun, innovative equipment such as battle ropes, kettle bells and more. See page 65 for more information.

Rental Information and Policies

All fees listed under each facility are Resident/Non-Resident/Non-Profit Organization. Outdoor facilities (shelters, etc.) may be rented between the hours of 9:00am to dusk. Go to www.barringtonparkdistrict.org for a complete list of policies. Tables and chairs are provided with all indoor rentals.

Deposits and Reservations

The Lodge and the Pavilion at Citizens Park may be reserved: Sun. - Sat. 10:00am - 10:00pm

• Rentals will not be reserved without full payment, security deposit and completed contract with renter’s signature.

• There is a $100 minimum security deposit on the John Sullivan Room, Gym, Pavilion, The Lodge and the Pepper Family Treehouse.

• Renters must be 25 years or older.

Cancellation Policy

There is a 10% service charge for all cancellations.

• A minimum of 48 hours advance notice is required for all facility cancellations, except the Pavilion. The Pavilion requires 30 days’ notice.

Alcohol and Smoking Policy

• No alcohol is permitted in any park facility except for designated areas. Special procedures, application, fees and preferred vendors are required. For further information, see our website.

• Smoking is not permitted in any facility.

General Rental Regulations

Rental applications for all facilities are processed Mon. - Fri. during regular business hours.

• 48 hours’ notice required for all facility rentals. Please note: same-day rentals cannot be accommodated.

• If your rental involves animals, please see our Animal Policy on our website, www.barringtonparkdistrict.org.

• No lighting effects employing actual fire are allowed. This prohibits the use of candles, lighted lanterns, torches, etc.

Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association

Do you know someone with a disability who would like to go out, have fun and make friends, but needs a little special assistance? Since 1976, the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) has provided recreation programs for people with disabilities, with the objective of enriching their lives through meaningful recreation experiences. Socializing, building physical skills, learning, relaxing and having fun are some of the benefits gained from participating in NISRA’s year-round activities. Sports, fitness, social, cultural, outdoor and preschool programs, along with camps, special events and trips offer enjoyment for children, teens and adults of all ability levels. NISRA also offers Special Olympics training and competition in 16 sports. NISRA’s full-time professional recreation staff hold college degrees in therapeutic recreation or related fields, along with various certifications. Part-time staff and volunteers help people with disabilities learn new skills and have fun. Do you have a talent to share and some time to give? Safety Town is a week-long educational summer program for children entering Kindergarten or First Grade sponsored by the Barrington Junior Women’s Club. Participants learn vital safety lessons through activities and demonstrations An outdoor miniature town gives children hands-on experience using safety skills while riding trikes and acting as pedestrians. Speakers, movies, songs, poems and art projects reinforce safety skills and are completed in an

Registration Requirements:

• All participants are required to be registered for the program they are attending.

• Registration forms must be completed or online registration process completed.

• Payments must be paid in full.

• Participant waiver must be signed and dated by parent, guardian or participant - over 18 years of age.

Residency Requirements

“In-district residents” refers to those who live inside the Barrington Park District boundaries and who pay taxes to the Barrington Park District. “Out-of-district” or “non-residents” refers to those who live outside of Park District boundaries. Class Cancellation Policies

A 10% (or a max of $10) administrative fee per program, per participant, will be assessed. Cancellation requests MUST be in writing using the Program Cancellation Request Form. The form must be completely filled out, signed and dated. The request for a cancellation must be received a minimum of five business days prior to the first day of class for a cancellation request to be considered. The Program Cancellation Request Form can be found on our website or at the F&RC Front Desk.

Some programs may qualify for a prorated refund, if due to an injury or illness, accompanied by a doctor’s note. Refund amount will be based on the number of classes attended and the date the refund request is received. Medical refunds must be requested by the last class date.

You may choose to have the refunded amount credited to your household account to use at a later date, or receive your refund via check. Refund checks are mailed approximately 2-3 weeks after the cancellation request is approved. All Preschool, K.E.E.P. and Ski Club registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Refunds will not be issued for make-up classes you are unable to attend.

Accommodations for Persons with Disabilities

The Barrington Park District is pleased to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability. ADA requires that recreation programs offered be available in the most integrated setting appropriate for each individual. For all programs, participants must be fully restroom trained. If diapers or incontinent aids are used, the participant/parent must be able to provide their own personal care. Those who use the Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) may reach the Park District through the Illinois Relay Center seven days a week at 1(800) 526-0844. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Park District at (847) 381-0687 and fill out proper paperwork regarding special accommodations needed for enjoyment of and inclusion in Park District programs.

Anti-Discrimination Policy

The Barrington Park District does not discriminate against any person participating in Park District programs, activities or services on the basis of sex, race, religion or cultural background.

Code of Conduct

All individuals on Park District property and in Park District programs are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. All individuals shall:

• Show respect to participants/staff/others, and take directions from staff.

• Refrain from using abusive or foul language.

• Refrain from causing bodily harm to self, participants, staff or others.

• Show respect to equipment, supplies, and facilities. Individuals who do not conform to this Code of Conduct will be subject to suspension from the program or dismissal depending on the frequency, nature and severity of any infraction, including immediate dismissal, all to be determined at the discretion of the Director.

Behavior Procedures for Participants

Staff will make every effort to assist participants in correcting any unacceptable behavior through re-direction, reminders of expected conduct and parent conference. Staff will help the participant develop self-control and assume responsibility for their own behavior based on four overall rules:

• A participant may not disturb or hurt others, verbally or physically.

• A participant may not damage school or Park District equipment.

• A participant may not place themselves and/or others in dangerous situations.

• A participant must respect and follow staff direction. If unacceptable behavior continues, the staff will implement the appropriate procedures as outlined in the Park District policy manual.

Improper Speech and Conduct

No person shall use any abusive, threatening, indecent, profane, or obscene language, or language calculated to occasion a breach of the peace, nor be guilty of any indecent act or behavior in the Park District.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited inside any Park District facility.

Drug and Alcohol Policy

Alcohol, marijuana and illegal drugs are not permitted in any park or facility. Special procedures, application and fees are required for an alcohol special use and/or rental permit. For more information, go to www. barringtonparkdistrict.org.

Use of Cellular Phones in Park District Facilities

• To ensure privacy to the patrons of the Barrington Park District in certain areas such as locker rooms and washrooms, the following policy regarding cell phones has been implemented. This policy will affect ALL cellular phone usage in these areas.

• The Barrington Park District prohibits the use of any device capable of recording, producing, duplicating, reproducing, storing, copying, transmitting or displaying any type of pictures from all Barrington Park District restrooms, locker rooms, or anywhere else where patrons expect privacy.

• Individuals observed using cellular phones in these areas will be asked to stop or leave the area. Failure to comply could result in the person(s) being banned from Park District property. Those individuals using cellular phones and taking or transmitting pictures from these areas will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Photo Policy

On occasion, Park District staff may photograph or videotape participants in Park District programs/classes or at park events/facilities. These photos are for Park District use only and may be used in publications, brochures, pamphlets, flyers and/or video products. If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please inform the photographer.

Lost and Found

“Found” items will be kept at the Fitness and Recreation Center for approximately 30 days. After that 30-day period, items will be disposed at the discretion of the District’s Executive Director. Items that are usable by the District (sports equipment, towels, etc.) may become District property and be put into use.

Animals

Animals may be led by leash on such portions of the Park District as designated for pedestrian traffic in Citizens Park. Animals are NOT ALLOWED in Langendorf Park or on the Teams Course in Ron Beese Park.
