Our Dreams Change, We Don't, is the first in a new series of short books transcribing lectures from The Bartlett's International Lecture Series.
The book explores our relationships with the notions of home, machines and the future. Drawing on her research into cybernetics and art, Reichardt observes that ‘the animation of the inanimate, and the desire to communicate with machines, represent both our dreams and our limitations’. Bringing together wide-ranging references from children’s literature to contemporary art, Reichardt speculates on the fading boundaries between humans and technology.
Jasia Reichardt is an editor, curator and writer, whose seminal works include the 1968 Institute of Contemporary Arts Exhibition and the accompanying book, Cybernetic Serendipity. She is interested in the intersections of art and other fields, including science, literature and technology.
The original lecture took place at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL in December 2017.
