FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Dec.13, 2013

Boynton Beach police unveil plans to use SmartWater CSI Boynton Beach police are raising the stakes for thieves who burglarize homes or businesses in the city. On Monday, the department will unveil plans to begin using SmartWater as a tool to combat property crimes. The press conference will begin at 1 p.m. at the Boynton Beach Police Department. “Too many of us understand how uncomfortable it is to be burglarized,” Chief Jeffrey S. Katz said. “The SmartWater program represents an opportunity to turn the tables on thieves. Every piece of stolen property represents another risk of being caught.” SmartWater products are forensically encoded liquids that homeowners or business owners can apply directly to their valuables. The non-hazardous liquid is invisible to the human eye except under ultraviolet black light. Once it is applied, it is virtually impossible to remove. The Boynton Lakes North community will be the first in the city to see the use of this cuttingedge technology. Crime prevention officers will hand out SmartWater kits to homeowners there on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m. in the Boynton Lakes Clubhouse, 100 Redford Drive. City residents and business owners interested in obtaining a SmartWater kit can contact our Crime Prevention Office at 561-742-6848 or 561-742-6849 for more information. For more information about SmartWater, visit www.SmartWaterCSI.com or call 954-315-3938.
