It’s hard to believe October is here already! I want to thank all of you for submitting your surveys as this is really a great tool for us to gauge how we are doing and certainly what we can improve upon. We will keep the survey open for a little while longer to get additional submissions from those that may have missed earlier communications. What an amazing summer we just had, and let’s hope this string of great weather continues straight through Columbus Weekend and beyond! With the great weather, we continue to enjoy our outdoor venues, with golf, tennis, and pickleball all going strong deep into the season.
Plus, being able to celebrate Oktoberfest on the Front Lawn over the next couple of weekends is an additional bonus!
Hopefully, you are aware of and able to take advantage of some of the Fall Feel Good wellness programs that have been taking place. The sound baths at Bayside Indoor Pool have been a success, along with some of the other meditation and relaxation sessions We can all use some more relaxation, especially on the golf course!
The golf course has played beautifully throughout the season, and we look for a couple more weeks of great play Unfortunately, the necessary evil of aeration takes place after Columbus weekend, so please plan accordingly. Sean will keep us all informed of the schedule and any changes that may take place, so please watch the website or contact the golf pro shop as needed.
Thank you for being a valued Member of our Club and I look forward to seeing you and your family throughout the balance of the year and throughout the upcoming Holiday Season

I wanted to take a moment to update you on some recent developments here at the course. This September has brought significant weather challenges, as we ’ ve received over 8 inches of rain, with 7 inches falling within just three days. The intense rainfall has put a strain on the course, but our team has been working hard to manage the excess water and ensure that playing conditions remain as optimal as possible.
e the arrival of new equipment that will enhance both the quality erience. The new equipment includes 3 fairway mowers, 2 trind a bunker machine. This investment will improve turf ontribute to more efficient course maintenance.
As many of you have noticed, we have begun work on the wetlands project and are making great progress We have selected native species to preserve these wetland areas, which will benefit us in the long term Our wetlands consultant will be visiting to assist with the project and offer feedback Late this fall, we plan to plant additional native vegetation, low-growing plants that will help restore the area while reducing future maintenance Our goal is to return the area to its original design while maintaining the natural habitat
We are also preparing to begin aeration on October 15th I understand that this impacts play, but aeration is a crucial process in maintaining a healthy course Over time, layers of thatch build up, consisting of dead organic material that prevents water, fertilizers, and amendments from penetrating the soil and reaching the roots. Aeration removes this thatch layer, allowing water and nutrients to access the root zone, which is vital for turf health. The process also promotes better air circulation, helping roots grow deeper and stronger.
Additionally, aeration alleviates soil compaction, which occurs from the constant foot traffic and daily maintenance required throughout the playing season. This compaction restricts root growth, so relieving it ensures the turf stays resilient and healthy.
We look forward to seeing the positive impact of these efforts, and we appreciate your continued support and understanding as we work to keep the course in excellent condition
Sean Lucey

The change of seasons and the beautiful Autumn colors are some of the best reasons to live in New England. Cape Cod has certainly changed a lot in the past few years, we do not feel that seasonality anymore at the MSC.
I see people still playing pickleball and tennis, working out in the gym, and the fitness classes are full. We have so many amenities at Ocean Edge still open and being utilized by our members the summer energy keeps going!
As we transition to the next place, phase, season, etc., it is important to keep up your fitness routine and remain focused on your overall wellness.
Stay hydrated, eat nutritionally, and if you made fitness goals for 2024, know what is needed to achieve them. The holidays are around the corner. Now is a great time to try a fitness class or add some new exercises to your routine.
Did you know that we offer personal training and private classes online?
