Hello to all Ocean Edge Club Members,

The weekly Wine Down Wednesdays and the Friday Nights at the Linx events have proven to still be very successful and full of attendance I have been hearing nothing but positive reviews on all the food and beverage offerings and service for these events and all events we have been hosting for our members I thank all of you for your compliments via email and talking in person, however, the compliments are really for Chef Phil, Chef Tim, Chef Ricardo, Amelia Ball and all of the F&B/Banquet teams involved They have absolutely been doing a fantastic job this year! Thank you to the team and well done!!

What an exciting and relatively dry OMEGA Member Guest we experienced a few weeks ago I am sure that we are all in agreement that we are very thankful for the majority of dry golfing weather we experienced Craig Sullivan and team did a fantastic job getting the course in great shape and keeping a watchful eye on daily weather/conditions on the course Shayne did, yet another, great job leading the charge on the day of golf events Great job and a huge thank you to both of you and your teams for a job well done Another huge shout out to the F&B and Banquet team for the ability to shift gears mid tournament and successfully pull off switching lunch to an earlier time so that we could all stay dry Overall, I heard nothing but great responses to all aspects of the 3-day event

Entering August, we are excited for the OWEGA Member Guest Invitational and the Ocean Edge Club Championship events Additionally, we are looking forward to our monthly Couples Nine and Wine and our Endless Summer Beach Bash Please be sure to sign up as reservations are required We hope to keep the positive excitement going! Samantha has been doing a fantastic job working with the OWEGA and OMEGA groups to enhance all events planned We will have lots of activities and fun all throughout the remainder of the month Join us for our Sunday Ice Cream Socials at the Member Sports Club, our normal weekly Wine Down Wednesday events and Friday Nights at the Linx, our pop up pickleball events and clinics, and all our fitness opportunities through Heidi and team

Dear Ocean Edge Club Members,

Welcome to Championship Weekend at Ocean Edge!

The first weekend in August kicks-off with the Club Championships at the golf club. Golf, Tennis and hopefully this year Pickleball, will all host Club Championships with their respective disciplines. It is an exciting time to celebrate the Club and to toast the champions. This year is truly special with the new Championship plagues hanging in the Member Lounge at the Linx Tavern These plagues help signify and reflect the wonderful history at the Club and keep all of our champions remembered for years to come.

This is also the time where we start to see a bit of transition within the Club as some of our staff members head back to school while others are traveling the country before heading back to their homelands. Please join me in wishing our departing team members well and we hope to see many of them back next year!

We are in the dog days of summer. Our turf has performed well through the first 2/3 of summer but August can be a tough test. Days are getting shorter, and the sun is starting to reduce its intensity, but it is no time to let our guard down on the health of our turf.

Due to the heat and humidity in late summer on the turf, that stress is not ideal to try and push root growth. With hand watering and afternoon syringing to cool the plant we can help to alleviate the stress to the turf plants.

After a wet start to summer, we have turned dry over the last several weeks. We continue to hand water hot spots on greens, fairways and approaches to maintain healthy turf With the high amounts of rain that started the summer, our turf plants became accustomed to water being available at the top of the soil profile. This causes the roots to not dive deep into the soil profile looking for water. Therefore, when dry weather returns roots are shallower then usual and can become stressed easier with those shallow roots. Looking forward to seeing you all on the course!

Fellow Members,

It is unbelievable that August is here already but that means it is Club Championship month! We will have our Men’s and Ladies Club Championships on August 5th & 6th, as well as our Couples Club Championship on August 27th. We encourage those eligible to participate and sign-up on the OE Members Website. You could be crowned our next Club Champion. Our Championship plaques have arrived and will be displayed in the Member's Lounge in the LINX Clubhouse to recognize all our past champions

It has been great to see so many golfers, both new and old members, out enjoying the golf course this year. Make your tee times now to get out and enjoy our great Jack Nicklaus course.

The golf course remains in great shape and with the hotter temps arriving Craig and his team will be doing all they can to keep our course in beautiful shape. Please be aware if our maintenance staff are out hand watering areas or working on the golf course make sure they see you before hitting. Please help to keep everyone safe.

Our PGA Junior League wrapped up last month with 10 juniors playing in matches against Cranberry Valley, Dennis Highlands and Captains Golf Course throughout June and July. We want to grow this group next year and hope your juniors will join us. Information about our 2024 season will go out early next year but you can always visit www.pgajrleague.com to learn more about this great way to get juniors involved in the game.

We are here for lessons to fine tune your game as the Championship season rolls around. Make an appointment today with Shayne, Kim or Cole. Email or call the golf shop to schedule.

Happy August!

There is plenty of summer left to enjoy beautiful Cape Cod I have had a lot of questions regarding how to still exercise outside if the air quality has changed and what can you do to assist your body in recovering? The best answer is to listen to your body and make sure you are taking antioxidants.

Antioxidants can help the body deal with oxidative stress and reduce the number of free radicals. This may help promote overall health and aid in recovery. The best source of antioxidants is real food or supplements made from real food Antioxidants from real food are more bioavailable than those made in a lab Fresh organic vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices, and organic green tea are among the best sources. There are thousands of different substances that classify themselves as antioxidants. You can find them almost anywhere so be sure to check with your physician on what they recommend for you.

Just remember, even if the air quality is said to be ok, you still may need to watch how you push yourself Listen to your body If you feel your breathing heavier than normal on your walk or run move your workout inside It may just be a day or two until you get back out there!

On another note our first workshop with Sarah Barkhuff was a huge success! We are running another one and it once again is free for members. Here are the details and we hope to see you there. The date is August 12, at 11:30 am. Sign up by calling 774323-6300 or email hl vanamburgh@oceanedge com

Please join Sarah Barkhuff for a 60 minute chair yoga workshop This class is perfect for members interested in exploring the practice of yoga without getting on a mat Class will begin with 5 minutes of seated pranayama or breath work to soothe the nervous system and calm the mind. Yoga poses will be done sitting in the chair or using the chair for balance. While this is a gentle practice, postures will focus on both strengthening and stretching the body. Class will end with a guided meditation to further promote relaxation
