CLUB NEWS
The holiday season is upon us, and we have many events throughout the month for you and your family to enjoy.
Breakfast with Mr. & Mrs. Claus is on Saturday, December 3rd. Although this is an event that Ocean Edge hosts to benefit the Brewster Recreation Department, as Members, you are invited and welcome to bring the family! If you would like to enjoy breakfast, please register on the Brewster Recreation website for seating.
Our annual Holiday Party is on Saturday, December 17th, featuring a special menu by Executive Chef Phil Flath and Executive Souse Chef, Tim Kramer. The evening will start off with holiday Carolers during the reception, followed by dinner and dancing to the music of Syndicate!
Check out the calendar for special Trivia Nights at Bayzo’s Pub! Brandon has a few special nights to challenge your trivia knowledge with a twist to whet your appetite as you create your dish based on the correct answers to the questions! The more questions you answer correctly the more ingredients you get to add to your dish! Tuesday Night is Member Night at Bayzo’s Pub! 5:30 PM 6:15 PM reception to catch up with friends and meet new members before settling in for dinner. Please let us know who is coming by registering on the club website so that we can best prepare the tables.
We will also be introducing some new winter activities. Fun for all ages, Disc Golf. Check in the golf pro shop with Shayne for the discs, targets will be set around the range for a fun, outdoor activity to enjoy this winter. Although Disc Golf cannot replace real Golf, with the course closing for the winter on Sunday, December 4, adding Disc Golf to the winter mix will bring you back to the course! Keeping in mind that on Cape Cod we normally have many nice days throughout the winter, we will keep two nets up on the Fletcher Tennis Courts and two nets up on the Blueberry Pond Pickleball Courts for you to get outdoors and enjoy some tennis and pickleball.
As we close out the year, I would like to take a moment to thank our Club Team for all their passion and accomplishments this past season to enhance our Club. Kaitlin with our Member communications, Shayne and his golf operations team, Craig and his team on keeping the golf course in wonderful condition throughout the year, Heidi and her all-star staff at the Member Sports Club keeping us fit and building a great community, and Jim, Kandy and the tennis team in keeping the racquets swinging, thank you!
On behalf of the entire Club Team, we wish you and your families a very happy and healthy Holiday season!
Sincerely, Michael Medeiros

The Ocean Edge Golf Department wants to wish you and your families, a Happy Holiday, as we put close on the 2022 Season here at Ocean Edge. It was truly my pleasure to be a small part of the Ocean Edge Family that strives to serve our membership. I am honored to be the Director of Golf and look forward to my third season in 2023.
In the coming months, be on the lookout for OEMGA & OEWGA calendars and event registrations starting to pop up. Those interested in joining our associations can find information and registration info on the members' website. We anticipate another great season of events filled with golf, camaraderie, and competition.
Golf members can also take advantage of the Troon Prive Program to play other Troon courses located in better winter weather. Head to (Troonprive.com) to get started and request your tee times at some great venues whether you ’ re traveling or near your home away from the Cape. It is a great value, and we encourage you to take full advantage of the program. If you have any questions about the reciprocal program email Shayne (Shayne.sakson@oceanedge.com) for help.
From all of us here at Ocean Edge and the Golf Department have a safe and Happy Holiday Season.
Best Swings, Shayne Sakson,

As our fall weather begins to turn colder, the Agronomy team looks to ready the course for winter. Many of the processes we complete this fall help to build a stronger product for next season. Aeration of fairways helps to reduce thatch, relieve compaction from a busy golf season as well as allow for better uptake of plant health applications. We have completed all fairway and approach aerations, and with the warm weather we have received we have had excellent recovery of the aeration holes. Pictured below is the 18th fairway being aerified, then plugs are blown into windrows and swept up.
We then turn our attention to the 29+ acres of native areas that need to be mown. We mow the native areas down to 3 inches from 2–3 foot heights. This allows us to clean out the leaves, grass clippings, and other debris collected in our natives. The natives are blown clean and in certain areas machine raked to remove excess grass clipping. This process takes us several weeks to complete. This will be done again in early spring after the native areas first begin to grow. Mowing the natives in early spring will help to control fescue heights for the summer season. Below the 1st tee native area is being mowed. We wish everyone a happy holiday season!

Let’s have a wonderful holiday season!
Exercise is an important part of resiliency and overall wellness. Believe it or not, the average person will gain 10 pounds from Halloween to New Year’s Day! The information below will help you prevent that from happening. Exercising during this time also helps ease the stress of the holidays.
Keep Moving! Even with holiday parties, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. there is no reason to stop working out. Go for a walk, go to the gym, do a class online or in person it all adds up to burning calories. Even just 30 minutes of any type of exercise is better than not doing any at all.
Choose Wisely! We all love the “bring a side dish” party or “it’s catered” party but remember that the choice is yours on portions. If there is a choice of plates, grab the smaller one. Start with the healthier options first then move on to the less healthy options. If you ’ re going to indulge make sure it’s with one of your favorite foods.
Stay Hydrated with a Mix and Match! And no, I don’t mean down a bottle of wine and then a bottle of vodka. Alcohol can be a diet killer. A nice glass of champagne is 80 calories a glass. Alternate from an alcoholic beverage to a glass of ice water or sparkling water. Try to avoid the fruit juices, or if you need that extra kick for taste, just a fruit juice splash will do.
2022 has been an amazing year for us here at the MSC. We were fortunate to meet new members and welcomed our “regulars” back. We welcomed our newest team member Ilona to the front desk, allowing us to return to previous operational hours. We welcomed a new yoga instructor Ken Fishman to our fitness team. Ken has a large local following and has already received rave reviews. The food at the MSC bar was upgraded by the wonderful Mike Morin and his staff at Linx. They say it takes a village, and I will say it takes Villages Drive! Thank you to all our members for a wonderful season, we appreciate you and look forward to 2023!
Wishing you the happiest and healthiest holidays, Heidi and the MSC team
