CLUB MANAGER Good afternoon Ocean Edge Members. Wow!! It is February 1st already. 2022 is off to an extremely fast start. Before we know it, the golf course will be opening and we will be planning our Memorial Day celebrations. While we are in the offseason, the staff is working diligently to prepare for the upcoming season. We are working on hiring staff, ordering products, putting together a calendar of events, and many other projects to get us ready for the upcoming season. I hope you saw the Save the Date email that went out yesterday with the Social Events planned for the upcoming season. We are excited to offer a full slate of events for everyone to enjoy and hope that we will see everyone at these events! We hope that you and your families are staying safe and healthy and we also hope that everyone was able to dig out for the unbelievable snowstorm that came thru this past weekend. As a reminder, if you are traveling this offseason and would like to play at some of the other Troon facilities, please take advantage of the Troon Prive and Troon Advantage programs that are available to you. You can find the courses available and their rules and fees associated with each course here: www.troonprive.com. You can also use that link to book your tee times for you and your group. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything that we can do for you during this time. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely, Chris Thomas

advisory board Happy Winter to all whether you are on the frigid Cape or enjoying the warmth out West or down South! By now you have all received the wonderful social calendar for 2022! Isn’t it great! Your Advisory Board has worked with Chris Thomas, Tarun Rajain, and Chef Flath to finalize a very robust calendar for 2022! We wanted to make sure that we included many of the Member favorites from past years whether that be weekly or monthly. Our Director of Fun, Brandon Kovshoff is lighting up the Mansion side with very popular weekly events including Karaoke night and the “adults only” Marriage Game. What a hoot! Brandon is doing great things at Ocean Edge and we can only look forward to more events as the seasons change. Our wonderful Club and Resort are staying very active across the entire campus. Craig Sullivan and his team are busy pruning trees and brush throughout the course, Heidi and her team continue to work very well attended classes, and the Frost Bar and Igloos are doing terrific business. It is really great fun having Ocean Edge open on a year-round basis. As always, be safe and healthy and have great fun!. All the best, Craig Mance

GOLF We have seen some snow and cold weather on the Cape but be sure to take advantage of Troon Prive to play in some warmer climates. As a Troon Prive Club, we have the opportunity to play some great courses across the country and beyond. Head to the Troon website www.troon.com to see a full listing of eligible courses. As we get closer to opening day and the prospect of better weather on the horizon now is the time to join the OEWGA & OEMGA. Our Ladies & Men’s associations are a great way to get involved with golf here at Ocean Edge. Please find information regarding applications, calendars, and by-laws on our Ocean Edge Club’s Member website. This year we look forward to hosting fitting days with our partnered manufacturers like Callaway and Titleist. Currently, we have scheduled Callaway for May 21st, June 10th & July 2nd. We will add additional events to the club calendar when they have been confirmed. I am always here if you have a question or need help. Feel free to contact me anytime, Shayne.sakson@oceanedge.com. FITNESS Will 30 Minutes of Exercise a Day Make a Difference? I get asked this question all the time and the answer is YES!!! The next question is usually “How can I achieve my fitness goals in that short of time?” Well, it really depends on what your goals ARE. Do you want a reduced risk of disease and increased bone density? Better sleep? Enhanced muscle tone and cardiovascular health? Better balance? If you answered yes to any of those, then the 30-minute workout may be the answer to moving you out of the “plateau” mode of doing the same exercise routine and not gaining any results. A benefit of working out 30 minutes a day is that you can do it every day and mix up your workouts. Maybe one day is walking/cardio the next is strength, followed by core conditioning and balance, next day yoga or tai chi. You can mix and match based on your work or week’s activity schedule. Many people have said they stay more focused and work harder knowing it is a shorter amount of time. Others say they tried a new activity, class, or fitness video for the same reason. The positive changes will stand out to you and your loved ones. It will lift your mood, increase your energy level and strengthen your immune system. No matter how busy your schedule is you can ALWAYS find that 30 minutes, and you will feel better for staying consistent without being bored. Break up your routine and try something new for 2022!

WELLNESS Golden Fried Rice with Salmon & Furikake Ingredients:

4 large eggs 4 cups chilled cooked short-grain white rice 5 tbsp. vegetable oil, divided, plus more for drizzling Kosher salt 1 (12-oz.) skinless, boneless salmon fillet, cut into (1") pieces 1 (1") piece ginger, peeled, finely chopped ½ small onion, finely chopped 1 tsp. sugar 4 scallions, white and pale green parts finely chopped, dark green parts thinly sliced, separated 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped Furikake (for serving)

Directions: Step 1: Separate egg yolks from whites, placing yolks in a medium bowl and whites in a small bowl. Add rice to the bowl with yolks and mix to break up any clumps and coat each grain with yolks (take your time with this as any clumps will cook together); set aside. Stir 2 Tbsp. oil into egg whites and season lightly with salt. Step 2: Heat a dry large nonstick skillet over high. Add egg white mixture and cook, pushing around constantly with chopsticks or a heatproof rubber spatula, until gently set, about 30 seconds. Transfer to a plate. Wipeout skillet if needed. Step 3: Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in the same skillet over medium-high. Season fish with salt and cook, undisturbed, until golden brown underneath, about 2 minutes. Turn and cook just until lightly browned on the other side and opaque throughout, about 1 minute. Transfer to another plate. Wipeout skillet. Step 4: Heat 2 Tbsp. oil in a skillet over medium-high. Cook ginger, stirring, until very fragrant, about 20 seconds. Add onion and season with a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring, until onion is translucent, about 1 minute (remove from heat if the onion starts to go past golden brown). Add reserved rice mixture, sprinkle with sugar, and season with salt. Toss to combine, then cook, undisturbed, until rice is beginning to warm and crisp underneath, about 1 minute. Push some of the rice to the side to clear a few inches in the skillet. Drizzle a bit of oil into the clearing. Add scallion white and pale green parts and garlic and cook, stirring, until just softened and fragrant, about 45 seconds. Toss into rice mixture and cook, tossing occasionally, until warmed through and rice is crisp and chewy about 3 minutes. Return cooked egg whites to pan and cook, tossing and breaking up with a spatula until distributed. Return salmon to pan and toss once to combine. Step 5: Divide among plates and top with furikake and scallion greens.

AGRONOMY February Update The wintertime months provide a perfect opportunity to address areas of need. Throughout the golf season, we make notes of areas needing tree work. Whether that’s the removal of trees or pruning of limbs, this work is best completed in the dead of winter as frozen ground limits turf damage from fallen trees. After the strong October Nor-Easter that battered the golf course, we knew there would be quite an amount of tree work needing to be completed. There were many snapped branches and cracked tree leaders. When accessing trees, we always consider trees' location, damage, golf course impact, and most importantly safety concerns. The picture below is an example of a tree on the 3rd hole that was heavily damaged in the Nor-Easter and needed to be removed. Areas of tree removal are also selected to help improve growing environments. This fall we added drainage to the 5th fairway where we have had a chronic wet spot.To help that area, additionally, we removed a few pine trees that cast shade on the fairway and inhibit it from drying down. This will allow sun light to hit these areas longer during the day. Pictured below is the before and after of these removals on the 5th hole.

Extensive tree work will continue over the next few months as we creep closer to the 2022 golf season. Sincerely, Craig Sullivan
