The last day for Daylight Savings is this Saturday, November 5th! Please remember to turn your clocks back an hour, which means you get an extra hour of rest on Sunday morning! This also means that the days are shorter, with limited daylight in the afternoons. Please plan accordingly when enjoying your round of golf, a tennis match, or a pickleball match next week as we adjust to the time change.
As we head into the Winter season, our aim is to keep our facilities open for as long as the weather permits. However, traditionally the golf course will officially “close” on the first Sunday of December. As for tennis and pickleball, weather often permits play throughout the winter, so we will keep two of the Fletcher Tennis nets and two of the Pickleball nets up throughout the winter. Please see the indoor pool attendant at Fletcher to access the tennis courts and the Member Sports Club attendant to access the pickleball courts.
Also, please be aware that throughout the winter season there will be some projects that we will be undertaking that may cause temporary closures to certain amenities, including the indoor pools. Of course, if we do need to close one of the indoor pools, we will schedule accordingly to have the other pool open and available. Once a final project list and timeline are established, we will post accordingly to provide you with ample notice of any upcoming projects that may cause a temporary closure.
With the holidays approaching, I want to wish you and your families a very happy and healthy holiday season! We have much to be thankful for this year and I look forward to our upcoming Member Holiday Party on December 17th, to celebrate the season!
Sincerely, Michael Medeiros

GOLF
As we head into November and start thinking about our Thanksgiving turkey, do not forget the golf course is still open and in great condition. The wet weather in October has allowed the course to heal nicely from aeration and is a perfect time to get in your last rounds on the season. Get out and make a Birdie or Eagle before you dive into the Holiday feasts.
You can also take advantage of the Troon Prive Program to play other Troon courses located in better winter weather. Head to (Troonprive.com) to get started and request your tee times at some great venues whether you ’ re traveling or near your home away from the Cape. It is a great value, and we encourage you to take full advantage of the program. If you have any questions about the reciprocal program email Shayne (Shayne.sakson@oceanedge.com) for help.
With Christmas closely approaching you may be starting to look for that perfect gift for yourself or loved ones. Always know the golf shop can place special orders and have them drop shipped to your house. We have accounts with all the major club manufacturers if you ’ re in the market for new clubs. Also, we can order apparel from our vendors in the perfect size, color, and style. When you find the right item you ’ ve been looking for email Shayne to get it ordered. Don’t forget, you still receive your 15%-member discount even if you ’ re not at the club. Don’t delay start looking today.

The long-awaited arrival and installation of our new pump station has come. This station was custom-built to our specific requirements by DAF pump services out of Connecticut. Replacing an older control panel that had become obsolete with its controls. This new pump control station will allow for more control of our 3 irrigation pumps. All 3 pumps will now have individual variable frequency drives. These drives control the speed of the pump as it relates to the water flow we are calling for on the golf course. Once the old panel was removed the installation of our new panel could begin. Our irrigation system needed to be down for three days while the new station was installed. The concrete pad was cleaned off in order for the new unit to be placed inside the building and secured to the concrete floor. The unit was squared to the incoming well pump pipes as well as the irrigation discharge pipe. Then the intake pipes could be fabricated on-site to ensure an exact fit to our existing pipes.
This completed phase 3 of our irrigation upgrades that started in January since 2020. These upgrades will be critical to the success of the golf course with drought conditions becoming more and more common through the summer months. Below are pictures from the process.

AppleMartini
Fill each martini glass with cold water and ice cubes. Spoon enough caramel topping onto one plate to rim your martini glasses. Add enough kosher salt to another. Dump the ice water from each martini glass and drizzle the inside of each glass with caramel sauce. Coat the rim of each martini glass into the caramel and then lightly into the kosher salt.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and mix together the cider and vodka by shaking well. Pour the cocktail into each glass, garnish with a slice of apple and serve.

It’s November! The crispness in the air and beautiful fall colors make it easy to enjoy the outside. It’s also great to check in on your fitness and wellness goals. If you set some at the beginning of the year it is still not too late to make positive improvements.
Although the department and online stores say differently, you have a good month to focus on your 2022 fitness goals and make a plan before the festivities begin. Making your fitness a priority now will let you ease up a bit over the holidays and not start at square one in January.
You can also change up your muscle group focus. Maybe all summer you were working on your midsection. Try mixing up your routine with a focus on upper body strength. Add in body weight exercises that you can do right at home or traveling like a push up or plank. The good news is with bodyweight exercises you engage other muscle groups as well. Finally, change up your playlist. Music is motivating, however, if you have had the same playlist for a while it may be time to find some fresh music. Try a movie soundtrack or a different genre and you may find some new inspiration to maintain that plank or do that last 5 minutes of cardio. So keep it moving, stay positive, and remember the old saying “ if you rest, you rust”!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving,
