Hello to all Ocean Edge Club Members,

As I take my time to sit and write this letter it makes me think of how much has happened through this spring and summer It’s hard to believe how fast it has all gone by and even more so, hard to believe Labor Day is in just a few days I have met so many members and employees that have already come and gone for the year In a way, this saddens me as I take pride in getting to know the members and employees as individuals For those members that have left for the season, I wish you safe travels and I look forward to seeing you again soon For those members that are still on property, we still have some exciting times to be had For the many employees that have left for the season, you will be missed and for those that are still here we thank you for your hard work and efforts in making Ocean Edge a great Resort and Club to visit here on Cape Cod

The weather has been simply fantastic with the cooler temperatures and light breezes As I walk the property in the mornings, I can’t believe I am already seeing leaves falling But wait, there is so much more to enjoy and still time left to enjoy all that Ocean Edge has to offer

As we watch the summer crowds dissipate, we are thankful to have all our members and friends “regain” the Cape At least this is how I hear this time of the year is referred to September and October are great months to still be here at Ocean Edge We are looking forward to our annual Labor Day Clam Bake coming this Sunday, many more Friday Nights at the Linx, Senior Club Championships, our Fall Wine Dinner and much more Please remember to reserve your spots for all these upcoming events I am very happy to report that I have heard so many great comments from all of you regarding food for all our events and incredible service by our teams Thank you for these comments The credit goes entirely towards our culinary team of Chef Phil, Chef Tim, Chef Ricardo, Amelia Ball and all their teams!! Absolute great job by all of you in making such great memories!!

We are preparing our Annual Member Survey to come out to all of you Please ensure that you complete these as it assists us in planning and structuring next year and years to come We will get this out to you in the next few weeks We have set the date for the Annual Membership Meeting that is open to all that can attend The set date for this meeting is September 29th at 5PM in the Addie Nickerson Room in the Carriage House

I hope you and your families have had a wonderful summer season and looking ahead to not only Labor Day Weekend but for the entire Fall season. Generally speaking, September and October on the Cape are magnificent for our outdoor activities, and we hope that you all can stay on Cape to continue to enjoy the Club throughout these fantastic months.

Looking back at August, there are a number of special congratulatory shoutouts for our Club Champions and a special shout-out to the Ocean Edge PGA Junior League Team, 2023 East Cape Champions! As well as our OEWGA Ladies winning the 2023 Summer League Ruth Bray Trophy! Two amazing feats for our Club and Members, congratulations!

Hello Members,

To say it’s been a busy summer here at our club is not an overstatement.

Golf, racquet sports, sports club, beach, pools, blueberry pond paddling, member events and lots of dining venues to keep us well nourished and hydrated are all going strong.

Special thanks to Samantha Cannistraro, Member Relations and Communications Manager, for assisting with specific member events and providing information on upcoming happenings.

The Member Advisory Board meets monthly with Ocean Edge and Troon management to exchange information about daily operations and share ideas about future improvements and opportunities for an enhanced member experience. As members, your feedback to the Advisory Board has been invaluable and much appreciated. Please continue to share your thoughts and give strong consideration to joining the Advisory Board in the upcoming term beginning May 2024 Applications are now being accepted and are located on the member website. In addition, the minutes from our monthly meetings are available on the website under the tab labelled, “Member Resources and Documents”.

Lastly, the annual Members Meeting will be held on September 29th. Hope to see you there.

Summer of 2023 sure was a departure from past summers. After extensive drought the last 3 summers it seemed the rainfall never stopped for most of the summer. Over the last 90 days we have received over 10” of rain compared to summers past that have netted us less than 4” of rain

As we start to put the summer behind us and turn the page to fall, we are reminded at how incredible the fall golf season can be on cape. The fantastic fall weather is also beneficial for golf course cultural practices. Aeration is one of the most important cultural practices we perform to the golf course. Putting greens receive more traffic than any other playing surface. The aeration process helps relieve the compaction caused by all that traffic. It also helps create a firm, smooth putting surface by controlling thatch. Aeration holes allow excess moisture to evaporate and promote gas exchange in the soil, resulting in stronger root systems and turf that is better able to tolerate golfer traffic. Below is our aeration schedule for the fall, all dates are weather dependent.

The golf course could not be in better condition, we encourage you to grab your family and friends and come out to play September is one of the best months of the year for weather, we are all looking forward to that crisp clean air that September brings Get out now and enjoy the weather Need to get the competitive juices flowing look for our Senior Club Championships or join the OEWGA Closing Day, the OEMGA’s last few Dettore Days, or the Stableford Showdown with Closing dinner. Dear Ocean Edge Members,

The 2023 season may be winding down in some areas, however we are still feeling like it’s summer here at the Member Sports Club. Our class schedule remains full, and we are even adding a Friday aqua fit at 9:30 starting September 8! The fitness classes have seen bigger numbers this year than ever before. The yoga workshops with Sarah were a huge hit as were the new classes we added on the group exercise schedule. We are so appreciative of your participation.

As the fall begins don’t forget about our new Life Fitness cardio equipment in our weight room. If you haven’t had a chance to use the new machines, please let us know if you would like a tutorial. We can also enhance your current workout program with new functional flexibility exercises and strength training. Call us at 774-323-6054 to set up an appointment.

Healthy Apple Muffins

[Gluten Free + Dairy Free]

INGREDIENTS PROCEDURE

¼cupmelted coconut oil, avocado oil, or extra virgin olive oil(I used avocado oil)

½cupmaple syrup

2eggsroom temp

1cupunsweetened applesauce

1tspvanilla

1 ¾cupof Bob’s red mill 1-1 gluten free baking flour (or your preferred 1-1 gluten free flour of choice)

2tspcinnamon

¼tsppumpkin pie spice(can sub all spice or omit)

1tspbaking soda

1tspbaking powder

½tspsalt

1 ½cupsfinely diced apples (¼ inch chunks or less)no need to peel - I LOVE honeycrisp for these

1tablespoonraw sugar ( you can substitute with sweetener, just follow sweetener label for ratio) with optional dash of cinnamon

Preheat oven to 425. Line a 12 space muffin tin with parchment liners.

In a medium sized bowl, beat oil and maple syrup together, then beat in eggs. Add in applesauce and vanilla and set aside.

In a larger mixing bowl, mix flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, and salt

Fold apples into dry mixture and coat evenly. Stir wet ingredients into the dry and incorporate well Divide muffin batter into prepared cupcake tins. Sprinkle tops of muffins with raw sugar Cook for 14-16 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
