Mantis MP3 player

Project overview During my second Ideation class, we were given a biomimcry project, in which we had to focus on a specific animal. I chose to the Praying Mantis. Before we chose a product, we sketched our chosen form to see what we could develop. Based on the forms I sketched, I developed a MP3 player. I used the body structure for the form of the MP3 player and the arms for the headphone structure.

Clay CD Rack

Project overview My studio had the opportunity to work with Industrial Design students in Guatemala. We were paired with the students to develop products using clay- a mayor resource of their country. These products had to be innovative, yet easily made by hand. I looked at existing forms such as floor and roof tiles to develop a CD rack. This product could be painted or glazed to fit various atmospheres and lifestyles.

LeapFrog Sling bag

Project overview This was a self-driven biomimicry project for an ID studio. In Biomimicry, one studies life systems and forms, models, and processes and uses them as creative inspiration to solve problems. I chose to study the poison dart frogs found in Central and South America. I focused on its colors, texture, and the forms of its feet to develop a back pack.
