SUMMARY Compiles and maintains records of business transactions and office activities of establishment. Generate new business/advertisements for the Folsom Telegraph, El Dorado Telegraph and The Entertainer websites, by telephone, email, or in person. Candidate will assist publisher and sales team to promote the newspapers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following, other duties may be assigned. Assists in the needs of the Sales Department. Opens and routes incoming mail, answers correspondence and prepares outgoing mail. Greets and assists customers on the telephone or in person. Organizes and maintains file system and files correspondence and other records. Routes legal and classifieds advertising and circulation requests. Receives, counts and maintains petty cash and counter sales. Develop and pursue leads in order to generate new business from non-advertisers and/or customers using competitive media. Make outbound sales calls (qualified leads and unqualified leads) to solicit orders for advertisements and generate new business. Quote advertising rates in accordance to the rate schedules and adhere to company credit policies. Maintain the contractual agreements of customers where appropriate. Advise and sell appropriate customers into other publications in (cluster) for maximum market penetration and increased advertising response. Strive to sell infrequent advertisers on the merits of consistent advertising campaigns, via contracted-for-space agreements. Recognize competitive media and effectively sell against them through organized company programs, personal learning efforts and acquired specific knowledge of rates, circulation, marketing statistics and conditions and inherent strengths of Gold Country Media Publications. Provide exceptional service to customers through prompt follow-through and a demonstrated genuine interest in achieving desired advertising results. Meet budgeted sales goals. Work with Publisher to set personal plans and goals that are challenging and realistic, then strives to obtain them. Effectively sell through good communication skills, willingness to listen and sensitivity to customer needs. Accept specific sales assignments, vacation relief calls, assist phone or walk-in customers. Collect payments for advertisements and assist customers in setting up statement billing accounts, where appropriate. Write insertion order forms to customer’s specifications and transmits to production personnel for publication.
