Editor’s Inbox Dear Editor,

Hi Roger,

Thank you for telling me about the General Patton Memorial Museum. After reading the story in the paper I decided to go. They have done a very good job there. I found the museum fascinating and the people that volunteer there so friendly.

The General Patton Memorial Museum is a true hidden gem. From the freeway it doesn’t look like much, but once inside and out back in the tank yard, amazing. I agree with you about the volunteers, and everyone that keeps the museum going, they do a fantastic job.

Thanks again, Roger W., Beaumont CA

So folks if you’ve never been, it’s only 30 minutes East on the I-10 at Chiraico Summit. Don’t miss it! Sincerely, Françoise

Socks for Seniors Needs Your Help The holidays are a fun time of year with all of the holiday work parties, family gatherings, meetings with old friends topped off with all the bells, whistles, hustle and bustle of the season. Each year, thousands of lonely and financially challenged seniors struggle with the holiday blues. They dread facing the holiday season alone, some being without family or friends, some with the isolation of being a widow or widower. Some seniors just being away from children and grandchildren produces extreme loneliness that’s exaggerated by festivities of the season. Socks For Seniors and it’s volunteers have one priority this Holiday

Join author and historian, Betty Meltzer, as she discusses her book “Losing Ground” about the displacement of the San Gorgonio Pass Cahuilla People in the 19th century. “Losing Ground” follows the history of the Cahuilla people from their first contact with missionaries in the 19th century in the Redlands area, through the Mexican rancheros until the American settlers, being used as a labor force to dig the Zanja for Redlands friars before they were moved to a reservation.

Community Spotlight Joshua Springs MHP, Desert Hot Springs

Congratulations to Carol C., on her new cherry colored Hyundai.

Monday I got a huge surprise at coffee time. Wanda S. presented me with a quilt that she had pieced and Lorry H. quilted. It has a beautiful pattern called Jacob’s Ladder. On the quilt was a dedication In Memory of Ray. I placed it on the wall facing the door as you come in from the porch so I can see it whenever I come home. Thanks to all the Park members for their thoughtfulness.

Have you caught on to the newest thing? It is Adult Coloring Books with patterns much more completed than those in coloring books for children. They can be found in many places such as Amazon.com, and Walmart. Just the idea of being able put down your daily worries and tasks for a while and color away is very relaxing and might just lower your blood pressure a while.

Claire K. house has been purchased. The new homeowners are Maggie & Gerry Turner and they are from Alberta, Canada. Stop by and say hello.

Welcome back to Cliff and Gloria. They said they had a warmer than usual summer up north. Also, welcome back to Loah K. She said she and Mort had a very busy summer with loads of family visitors. Right now Mort is collecting bee boxes from areas that have been hit with snow.

November is a busy month. Check bulletin board for dates and times. Friday night movies are starting, Carlena S., is hosting.

HOROSCOPE • NOVEMBER 19 - NOVEMBER 25 ARIES (March 21-April 19). You have a dry way of delivering humor. They won’t all get you, but the ones who do will adore you even as your charm goes sailing over the heads of a less-astute audience.

can’t seem to form the words you think you should say. Maybe it’s because your head and heart don’t really agree. There’s a way to be honest and cooperative at the same time.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). While it will be a joy to give in any way that is convenient, you will also go out of your way to give when it’s not. This will probably be a pain, but it’s the right thing to do and a testament to the depth of your generosity.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Misery loves company, but it loves a nurse even more. Unless you’re qualified to take care of that miserable person, keep walking. This weekend is too beautiful to spend in a downer situation.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You accept scraps of attention when you deserve so much more. You deserve all manner of love — passionate, platonic, respectful, desiring, reverent, unconditional and beyond.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Do not fear success. Celebrate any shred of evidence that things are going your way. Think of everything good as a sign of even better things to come.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You’re slightly more sensitive and impressionable than you want to be this weekend. You’ll have a much better time if you insulate yourself from chronic whiners and complainers.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). The first question that will pop into your mind might be “Why?” But the question that will make your day go better is “how,” or, more specifically, “How can I make this work?”

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You’re getting closer to figuring out what you really want. Order it up like you’re ordering a pizza, with great specificity. Why shouldn’t life give you the toppings you crave?

AQUARIUS (Jan.20-Feb. 18). You’ll find yourself in a situation you haven’t prepared for, but that’s fine because you’re a brilliant improviser. You’ll fly by the seat of your pants and wind up at the same destination as the ones who are flying first class.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You’ve the wondrous imagination of a child. Use it to stretch your self-concept. Visualize yourself in various roles — a pilot, a parent, an inventor, an acrobat. What fits? LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Your mouth

10

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). To avoid becoming enslaved by the very things that are supposed to be helping you, don’t add anything to your life without testing it out first. This could be about technology, teachers, employees, services or possessions.

It Works! How to remove cooking spray residue Remove stubborn buildup by scrubbing metal pans with a nonabrasive cleaner. To clean glass dishes, put them in the sink and spray liberally with an oven cleaner (use a cold-oven formula). Let sit for a few minutes then scrub

well. You may have to repeat the process to get the grime off. Always apply the spray to a cold pan (never a heated one), and wash well after each use.

Tickets are $50 per person and children under the age of 12 are free. Tickets can be purchased at www. bighornbam.com or via telephone at (760) 610-8218. Will call will be behind St. John, with convenient parking located behind and accessible from Highway 111. For more information visit www.theshopsonelpaseo.com.
