WAVE BROADBAND OFFERS CHOICE AND CONTROL Wave Broadband offers internet services throughout Washington, Oregon and California, but it enjoys a local following here, once again winning “Best Internet Provider” for the Placer Herald’s annual Best of the Best competition. WELLS FARGO HAS BEEN HERE SINCE 1852 Wells Fargo was voted best bank in Rocklin. In 1852, Henry Wells and William Fargo founded Wells Fargo & Co. to provide banking and express service to pioneer miners, merchants and Gold Rush settlers in California. In the Sierra foothills, Wells Fargo agents such as Charles T.H. Palmer of Folsom and Theodore Tracy of Placerville served miners in remote diggings with colorful names such as Whiskey Bar and Grizzly Flat. Miners depended on Wells Fargo to exchange their gold dust into coins, send funds to family back east, deliver mail, transport valuables and file important legal papers. Julie Campbell, vice president of corporate communications for the Northern and Central California region, said there are a lot of choices for banking but Wells Fargo takes banking personally. “Each of our customers defines financial success differently and personally. ROCKLIN ACADEMY TEACHER TAMMY HOGUE NAMED BEST IN ROCKLIN Tammy Hogue, a Rocklin Academy teacher, was named Best Teacher. Hogue said she considers each student a part of her family.
Master Teacher Tammy Hogue of the Rocklin Academy has been teaching since 1988. Hogue said God called her to the teaching profession. “Since my high school years at Heritage Christian School in Canton, Ohio, I have been passionate about education and teaching,” Hogue said. “I completed my undergrad and teaching credential at William Jessup University, and continued on to earn my Masters at WJU.” Hogue attributes her success to caring for her students. “I incorporate parents, and respect parent rights as a supplement for sound educational experiences and accomplishments,” Hogue said. “There is no child left behind in my class. Each student is wonderfully

made and equipped for their purpose and calling in life. It is my job to turn the light switch on and propel them into the vast blue ocean of education.” Her teaching philosophy is comprehensive and reaches into her students’ families and community. “The teaching profession has been a foundational element in life itself. The Colonial era established the foundations and tenets of education, today’s profession of teaching,” Hogue said. “Today’s second-grade student is tomorrow’s mother, father, executive, laborer, politician and/or leading professional. Building a foundation for learning, as well as teaching each student how to learn, is the core of the core of my classroom.” Winning teacher of the year is an honor and a privilege and a reflection

of what today’s conservative parents are looking for in their child’s education, Hogue said. “Teaching is my heart’s passion and my life’s purpose. It is not just a job, it’s my calling and I am very passionate about my student’s educational experience,” Hogue said. “At the beginning of each school year, I tell all of my parents that the moment their kiddo walks through my doorway, they become a part of my family and I promise to educate them, protect them and love them as if they were my own child or grandchild.

Co-Principals Eve Fabiaschi and Wendy Mitchell have long backgrounds in the industry and have a passion for learning. LAURA REGAN HONORED AS PRINCIPAL The Best Principal award goes to Laura Regan of Rocklin Academy Turnstone. In 2001, Rocklin Academy opened its doors to provide an exemplary free public charter education using the Core Knowledge Sequence. Core Knowledge content is full of rich content that combines strong academic content with music, poetry and art, according to Regan. passion in education and believe in each and every child,” Regan said. “My team includes each site principal, my superintendent, teachers, staff, parents and students. We work together to successfully make strong academic gains, provide a safe and happy atmosphere for the students and support the whole child.” Regan is a great role model. “I got into this field for a very simple reason: I love education and children,” Regan said. “I believe in our students and work diligently, with an incredible team, to meet the needs of all learners.”
