SES has worked with a number of clients to resolve frequent problems involving ecological issues. They provide protected species surveys, mitigation and licencing for Bats, Barn Owls, Water Voles, Otters, Badgers, White-clawed crayfish, Great Crested Newts and Reptiles. Their solutions range from habitat manipulation (development sites) to provide suitable areas for species away from working areas, location and design for bat housing, timetabling of building demolitions and when protected species licenses and surveys will be required prior to any works commencing.

Our cost-effective, innovative solutions help you stay on the right side of the law. “SES Ltd. is a not for profit ethical company and a member of the Association of Wildlife Trust Consultancies. Our profits go back into the parent organisation to fund conservation projects and wildlife education in Staffordshire.” Re-development timetables can be thrown out of the window if ecological issues are not dealt with prior to formulating work schedules. Even when planning permission has been granted, protected species must be considered at all stages of work in order to keep companies within the law. Frequent issues include the presence of bats and nesting birds within buildings due for demolition or refurbishment. Without the required lead in time for

Another frequent problem, especially within the West Midlands, is when development sites are cleared of vegetation to produce a flat clean site. Though the site managers feel they have removed the majority of ecological concerns with such actions, this type of habitat (bare ground) is attractive to a number of protected species including reptiles, invertebrates and migratory birds such as Little Ringed Plover and Black Redstart which are Schedule 1 birds in the Wildlife and Countryside Act and receive protection from disturbance once they have set up territories on a development site. The presence of these species on recently cleared sites causes delays in developments and may close the whole site from any activity for a minimum of 4 months. Design Solutions Product of the Year
The UK’s leading environmental screed solution Building and Construction Review are pleased to commend screeding company Gyvlon for being recognised as having the Design Solutions Product of the Year.
company to have this exclusive access to a HF production with technical control over the anhydrite and multiple European production facilities.
Gyvlon is the UK and Ireland’s market leading manufacturer and innovator of recycled anhydrite binder for use in flowing screeds and supplier of milled anhydrite. 20 years of experience in production, development and supply in the UK has enabled the company to secure a firm place at the forefront of the industry.
What makes Gyvlon stand out is that their floor screeds are based on a unique synthetic anhydrite binder, as opposed to typical OPC cement, which ensures a significant difference is made in terms of their fluid application. Gyvlon products have many benefits, such as better underfloor heating performance, larger bay sizes, higher compressive and flexural strength and lower shrinkage ability.
Gyvlon Flowing Floor Screed Products are solutions which have been strategically developed over the last 20 years to accommodate many building specification requirements, including thin bonded/ unbonded/ floating, floor levelling, high performance encapsulation for underfloor heating and high point loading solutions.
Two years ago, Gyvlon were procured by the Minersa group, a Spanish multinational mining and chemical production company with a long standing history of anhydrite binder production. Merging with the organisation who manufactures the by-products used in screeds means that all materials can be developed efficiently in-house. This liaison has subsequently made Gyvlon the only UK binder production

“Here at Gyvlon, we prioritise material quality and consistency,” Jonathan Plews, Commercial Manager at Gyvlon, explained. “With our vertical integration we are guaranteed supply of high specification raw materials, allowing us to offer a highly consistent high quality product whilst being incredibly cost-effective as well. Our products have high recycle content and a low carbon content, so they are more eco-friendly, and they are distinguished for providing a smoother surface finish.” Gyvlon screeds aren’t only used as direct placements for sand cement; they also serve great purpose as part of a building system in order to achieve specific design requirements. These specialist systems are the result of extensive research and development work carried out by Gyvlon and are aimed at underfloor heating, thin lay, structural solutions and acoustic/ thermal performance. The Gyvlon technologies can also be used to answer a number of floor specification issues common in modern building. As well as providing their general/eco screeds, Gyvlon have developed two specialist products with distinct purposes

The first, titled Thermio+, is the UK's first screed specifically designed for use with underfloor heating, offering unbeatable thermal conductivity and diffusivity. The product is compatible with any underfloor heating system, and aids performance improvement over sand, cement and other flowing screeds. The latest product, Excelio, is a flowing screed made purposely for usage in the floor construction industry. This comes in the form of the thinnest ready mix screed solution possible and is designed to bridge the gap between bagged SLU materials and bonded sand cement screeds. Jonathan emphasised that the Gyvlon representatives use their extensive expertise in the marketplace to assist clients with all of their associated queries: “Our specialists can provide comprehensive construction solutions. When discussing their prominence at trade shows, Jonathan said Gyvlon were met with fantastic feedback at recent events: “We recently attended the EcoBuild, where we launched our newest product, Excelio. It went extremely well – our products were incredibly well received and the whole show was a great success – so much so that we have already booked ourselves in for the next edition, which will take place in 2016.” Contact T +44 (0)1925 428780 sales@gyvlon.co.uk www.gyvlon.co.uk
Product Innovation Award
The evolution of insulation Building and Construction Review is extremely proud to present Greentherm Solutions Ltd with its Product Innovation Award profile. Greentherm Solutions is the sole UK distributor of the world leading product, Icynene Spray Foam Insulation. Greentherm was set up in 2014 to promote and distribute the brand to the UK market. Each with 30 years of experience in the industry, founders Paddy Leighton and Gerry Sheridan set up the company after identifying a gap in the market for an insulation product that would provide high levels of insulation combined with air tightness in one application. Having been involved in Icynene since 2009 and being one of the first independent UK contractors, Paddy has a wealth of knowledge for the product and strives to make others aware of its many benefits. He commented: “Developed over 25 years ago, the name Icynene is one of the most well known in North America and their products are now available in 34 countries around the world. “Having conducted a full and thorough research programme the name Icynene kept coming up as the leading product that ticked all the boxes in terms of quality, consistency, creditable green qualities, technical support and back up. Following further investigations, Greentherm became distributors for Icynene and this has proven to be the correct decision.” Icynene offer a series of soft, flexible spray foam insulation products that deliver up to 50% greater energy savings when compared to other insulation products. Perfect for loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, roof insulation, dry lining insulation, sound insulation and more, Icynene provides an insulation and air barrier in just one application. Icynene offer open cell foams opposed to closed cell that competitors provide, this means the foam is vapour open allowing the building to breathe and help prevent rotting and decaying of timbers. Icynene’s unique polyicynene formulation is 100% water blown and therefore contains no
harmful agents, volatile organic chemicals, HCFCs, HFAs, HFCs or formaldehyde, therefore offering many health benefits eliminating the risk of exposure to harmful pollution. It is has been used for buildings which require specialist construction such as the American Lung Association’s “Health Houses.” When sprayed in place, Icynene expands and sets in just 5 seconds. Its ease of application saves time as it can insulate a 3 bedroom property in only 1 day where as standard products may take up to a week. The foam can also be placed in any shape or size of building, giving designers the freedom and flexibility to create the structures they please.
injected in its liquid form which expands up to 100 times its liquid volume, this results in an insulation which seals every nook and cranny, completely eliminating air infiltration to every area it is applied. H2Foam Lite carries, amongst others, BBA accreditation. When asked to discuss the company’s plans for the future, Paddy concluded: “We are continuously researching and experimenting to improve the product range we offer to customers. We aim expand our approved contractor network
and to continue to promote Icynene as a new category of insulation and make more customers aware of its many advantages.” The company attends many trade shows throughout the year such as Home Build, Grand Designs, and Eco Build. They have also just taken a permanent stand at National Home Build Centre in Swindon. T +44 (0)1229 716039 M +44 (0)7851 854860 info@Icynene.co.uk www.icynene.co.uk
Paddy explained: “We have seen countless examples over the years as to why we made the correct decision as Icynene has surpassed all other products on the market in terms of quality, performance, technical back-up and support in conjunction with innovation and research and development.” Icynene insulation and air barrier products can be sprayed or injected into walls, ceilings, floors, and crawlspaces to deliver superior insulating and air-sealing results. It is ideal for wood or steel frame, brick and concrete products and never collapses with time since it is extremely light and strong and is “tailor made” to the building structure. Ideally suited for timber framed buildings, Icynene is also used for news builds and by self-builders as well as in housing projects and innovation sites. One of the most popular products in the range is the H2 Foam Light. In production for over 27 years and recently rebranded, the open cell foam is a very light, flexible insulation which strongly adheres to the surface it is applied to. It is sprayed or

TV aerial for viewing on any television in the premise.” The new HyCan C U provides 3g video direct to Android devices and our DDA systems are available with large halo illuminated Braille buttons with big letters, easy to read displays and audio and visual call progress indication.
Formed in 1992 with the goal of manufacturing and distributing telephone based door entry systems, Telguard has fast become the number one supplier of innovative door entry systems. They supply a wide range of products including the Telguard GSM to suit nearly all applications. Andy Slater, Managing Director at Telguard, commented: “We have gone from being able to provide just one type of system with limited facilities to being able to offer a complete range of systems to complement almost any project. Our ethos is that if we do not have exactly what you want available then we can create almost any colour, shape and size of any panel.” Suitable for a new build or retrofit, the Telguard range of telephone and GSM based intercom systems offers a quality, affordable alternative to standard systems. The telephone based system plugs in to a standard analogue telephone socket or phone system extension and the GSM system requires a SIM card. The only other requirement is for local power and the intercom can be installed.
Andy concluded: “Bespoke applications are also undertaken making it possible to provide almost any style or shape of system. It may be that we have to provide a system to replace an existing installation so we are able to manufacture our panel to fit the aperture of an old, non-functional system. Installation is not disruptive as it only takes place at the entrance to be controlled and there is no need to put handsets into flats or houses as they are already in place – your own telephone or mobile. The intercom system works by a visitor entering the flat or house number into the intercom and presses ‘call.’ The receiver of the call picks up the telephone and can speak to the visitor and allow access by pressing a digit on their telephone keypad. If the receiver of the call does not want to grant access they simply put their phone down and end the call. Andy explained: “The Telguard system is not only quick to

Security measures you can trust The award-winning security provider Acclaimed Security are renowned for offering businesses all over the country a whole host of reliable security measures. The company, based in Leeds, was established in 2002 and has recently been presented with the Security Product of the Year 2014 for its revolutionary GuardSafe technology. The respected business has the capability to offer clients security services such as Key Holding and Alarmed Response, CCTV Monitoring, Mobile Patrols and Security Guarding. The safe, trustworthy and costeffective solutions provided by Acclaimed Security serve to allow peace of mind for clients who want to ensure their premises, commodities and personnel are kept well protected with the latest security systems available. Roy Unwin, Managing Director of Acclaimed Security, said: “We are an accountable security company because we are one of the very few ACS approved business in the industry. We have won 10 awards over the last couple of years, all of which are associated with company excellence, and we are consistently commended for being a performance related achiever.” Their award-winning GuardSafe product is remarkable because it alerts companies
that a guard is present at the site, providing clients with the assurance that their business is being safely supervised. The system works using specialist boxes fitted to areas which would benefit from regular checks, and 4 patrol routes are designated around the perimeter of a building.
“GuardSafe is a unique patrol logging system which works in real time. This means companies can have results within seconds – if there are any issues, they are flagged up immediately and dealt with accordingly. This is a vast difference to other businesses, whose results are typically provided after a much greater timespan – some can take as long as a month! We are proud to say that GuardSafe is a system exclusive to Acclaimed Security; no-one else in the world has it.” Acclaimed Security's security measures have been utilized by a number of industrial and commercial outlets and well-regarded blue-chip companies including Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Leeds City Council, Freight Liner, Tarmac, Seabrook Crisps, Vion Foods, Brake Brothers and Liberty Living.

If the duration between each GuardSafe box is shorter than the designated patrol time, the system will reject it and the guard will have to repeat the patrol until it is completed properly.
Acclaimed Security has recently secured a massive contract which they will be putting into place at some point in the foreseeable future. Treated wood now achieved using latest micronized wood preservative technology
A lighter, more consistent, fresher and natural colour to treated wood can now be achieved by utilising the latest micronized wood preservative technology. Steve Uphill, Head of Development for Koppers Performance Chemicals, provides an overview for specifiers looking to avoid the traditional green ‘hue’ and discusses the additional environmental and aesthetic benefits. Copper, in various guises, has been used in the preservation of timber since the mid 1930’s. Today, amine-soluble copper solutions are widely used in order to help preserve timber. Commonly, the use of amine-soluble copper solutions involves getting the copper into the wood by dissolving it in a solvent. Alkaline copper quat and copper azole systems use amines to dissolve the copper.

including; consistent surface finish, fast effective cleaning without the mess of water and eradicating the damage done to grouting between joints that often gets washed out during the power washing process.
Micronizing technology however is different – it does not need or use any solvents. The micronizing process involves grinding copper particles to a size so small that the particles can penetrate the timber in solid form. The resulting preservative solution delivers highly effective protection against fungal decay and insect attack, whilst providing an environmentally preferred, aesthetically pleasing solution for the timber and construction industry. Whilst the treatment solution is revolutionary, the preservative process by which micronized timber treatments are applied remains largely the same as that of a traditional preservative – once timber has been
Rooflight Pro sponsors this issue of BCR UK: see them on page 14
transferred into the treatment vessel, a vacuum is applied which pulls air out of the vessel and the timber itself. Micronized treatment solution then floods the vessel before the vessel is pressurized, forcing the preservative into the timber. The unused preservative solution is then drained out of the pressure vessel, and the final step is a vacuum. The immediate noticeable difference of micronized timber is its lighter green colour compared to other traditional copper based treatment products. As a result, the unique appearance of micronized timber makes it stand out over and above standard timber products, providing treated timber that is more natural in appearance. Of course, there are situations where aesthetic requirements demand a certain look. As such, a micronized iron oxide pigmented wood colourant can be added to the treatment solution as part of the wood impregnation process to deliver a light brown shade once treatment is complete. When compared to traditional in-solution colourants, micronized systems provide a significantly improved colour life. Regardless of the preservative system, thought should always be given to the natural durability of the timber species and indeed the Use Class too. The natural durability of timber can be dramatically improved by preservative treatment to achieve the required Use Class, if it does not already meet it. www.koppers.com

OPTIMAXX – Product innovation & excellence OPTIMAXX High Performance Woodscrews are a new and exciting product with several unique, visual features which give genuine benefits to the end-user. The extremely sharp point combined with the thread beginning right on the tip give an immediate start with no ‘skidding.’ Then, due to the serrated teeth and unique waxed lubrication, the lower threads cut into the timber to give easy penetration without pre-drilling. On insertion, the strategically positioned, long, thin groove reduces pressure build up by dispersing the wood fibres which prevents splitting of the material. The re-enforced collar under the countersink gives added strength to prevent snapping as well as giving greater depth to allow for a wide, deep pozi recess to be punched. Instead of sharpening your pencil and searching for the mark you made Marxman does the job for you, it releases a burst of bright chalk spray which clearly marks your reference points. National Abrasives Ltd was established in January 2005 in Croydon but soon outgrew the building they were in and three years ago relocated to much larger premises in Reigate. Having the head office and the factory in the same building makes it easier for owner and managing director Stephen Furnell to have a ‘hands on’ approach with running the business. The company specialises in the conversion and manufacture of abrasive products from wide format jumbo roll. Using modern up-to-date machinery we produce abrasives for all industries including automotive, woodworking, plumbing and the retail sector.
Totally DIY has always been at the top of our choice of shows in the UK with orders mostly taken on the opening day from the independents,’ and then we see the larger companies who usually visit on the Monday and Tuesday. This year was no different to other years with the quantity and quality of visitors, resulting in both new and repeat orders. But next year things are changing. The show that normally runs for three days, Sunday to Tuesday, is reducing to just two days, Tuesday and Wednesday. We believe that few independents’ will actually visit, resulting in a reduction
in orders being placed. These orders gained at the show help to pay for attending the show. Personally we think this is a bad choice by the organisers, so we will probably not attend in 2016. Polyseam, the company behind the GRAFTTM brand of sealants, adhesives and fillers designed for the both professional builder and DIY exponents exhibited the full range at Totally DIY 2015. We were delighted to be at Totally DIY for a third year as it formed a key part of our marketing activity. The GRAFTTM range received positive response when it was launched at the DIY 2013 and there have been many developments since then. We thought it a great avenue to showcase them. Visitors to the stand loved the colour coded product packaging and the ease in identifying the products which worked best for different jobs. The range is outlined below with an indication of where to use each group of product: Yellow – Sealants for interior use Orange – Sealants for exterior use Red – Fire stopping products Blue – Plaster wall products Green – Adhesives and fillers.
Over the three days of the show, visitors and even other exhibitors came to our stand to witness live demonstrations of the GRAFTTM IPT and GRAFTTM MS Polymer and were all intrigued by the products performance. However, the highlight of the show was our GRAFTTM IPT being awarded DIY’s Silver Award for Decorators Product of the Year. This is a major achievement for us and proved that our commitment to research and product development is paying dividends. Reflecting quality and comfort We’re sure you’ve heard of Low-E Glass. Well this insulation works the same way. Low-E insulation is the thinnest most effective reflective insulation on sale in the UK and this year the manufacturer is celebrating their 25th year in business. Made from recycled material, without the use of solvents or adhesives, Low-E Insulation has one of the lowest Carbon Footprints of any insulation on the market. It carries a Class A/ Class 1 Fire Rating for use in areas where similar products fall short. Unlike traditional Insulation, Low-E does not have to absorb heat before it becomes effective. It works by reflecting heat directly back to the source. The idea of using reflective layers to reduce heat loss is not new; it’s just never been done in such an effective manner. Don’t be misled by ‘shiny’ insulations that claim to reflect, they may reflect light but if they are made from plastic they won’t reflect heat in the same way. Low-E is made from 99.4% pure insulation grade aluminium. The closed cell foam ensures the product won’t absorb moisture while

Heating, Ventilation & Air-Conditioning News
Free cooling enters the splits market with Hitachi’s Econofresh As energy costs continue to rise, any opportunity to harness ‘free cooling’ is worth exploring. While ‘free cooling’ with Chillers, rooftop and air handling units (AHU) is old news, Hitachi is in the unique position of being the only manufacturer to have applied the ‘free cooling’ concept to split systems. Free cooling enables high energy savings in applications where cooling demand is relatively constant yearround – for example in data centres, retail shops and supermarkets where server equipment, integral refrigerators and high levels of lighting or electronics generate heat throughout the year. The external air is used for free cooling when the outdoor air temperature is lower
than the indoor temperature, stopping the compressor and saving energy when operating in cooling mode. Hitachi’s new Econofresh connects to ducted RPI units from 10kW to 14kW giving improved flexibility of installation. The inverter compressor controls the motor speed while Econofresh’s Economiser Control modulates the damper positions to guarantee an accurate set room temperature. It is also possible to regulate by Enthalpy (total energy) variance using the field-supplied sensor to maximise energy savings. Other benefits include a selectable damper ‘minimum opening’ for fresh air renewal, Thermo On control to restart
the compressor if the free cooling set temperature is not reached within six minutes plus a CO2 sensor, which continuously modulates the damper position to guarantee air quality. “Case studies using Econofresh have demonstrated up to 50% energy savings delivering an impressive return on investment (ROI) in less than two years,” commented Steve Robinson, UK Business Development Manager, Hitachi Air Conditioning Europe SAS. Guttermaster Snaplok Wallcapping System provides a new Northern landmark the edge when it comes to clean, modern lines and the ultimate in weather protection.
Powder coated in black, the new capping creates a clean, crisp edge to the refinished parapets.
The new commercial complex, viewed locally as Salford Quays’ equivalent to London’s Canary Warf, was previously the site of Colgate Palmolives Manchester production facility, The Soapworks now provides 8.4 acres of prime office and retail space.
What’s more, even in the highest winds likely to sweep across the Manchester skyline, there’s little danger of the capping and the walls parting company.
The building which has been newly clad on all sides already featured over 1,000 linear feet of parapet walling with cast concrete copings.
Guttermaster was first in the industry to test the reliability of its Snaplok Wall Capping system in the event of hurricane force winds. It would seem that winds of even biblical proportions need not worry the buildings new owners.
North West roof drainage product specialist, Guttermaster Limited, manufactures of SnapLok Wall Capping Systems, formed the new edge detail, angled to precisely the 12 degrees required to direct rainfall away from the new façades.

Wolf Systems’ Ecobuild Survey results ‘Timber engineering manufacturers need to use BIM’ – that was the message given to Wolf Systems by architects, engineers and specifiers at Ecobuild 2015. At the event, the company demonstrated its Horizon BIM software, which is the UK’s only timber frame tool built on Autodesk’s leading Revit Architecture platform, and conducted a Survey to assess the importance of BIM to the timber engineering industry. Of those who took part in the survey, 72% anticipated using BIM on a project in the next 12 months, while 79% believed that seeing more timber engineering manufacturers adopt BIM would benefit their businesses. Most participants stated that collaboration was the most important aspect of BIM, while Revit is the most widely used BIM platform with 31% using the tool. Finally, 57% believed that BIM would be essential to how their businesses worked within five years. As well as conducting the survey, Wolf Systems demonstrated its Horizon software on a large-screen TV, showing how easily Horizon allows timber frame designers can quickly and easily manipulate physical building details such as wall panels, floors and roof trusses. This is then automatically updated throughout the entire model, so amendments only need to be made once.
Wolf Systems is part of the Wolf Group, a family business with more than 45 years’ experience in timber engineering that employs around 3,000 staff across 21 European countries. The company manufactures and supplies nailplates, metal webs and software for the design of roof trusses, metal web joists and timber frame wall panels. This is supported by bespoke design services, training and outstanding customer support. For further information about Horizon BIM software, visit: www.wolfsystem.co.uk

Gypsol. The environmentally friendly anhydrite flowing screed binder is the forefront of liquid screed development and innovation. The Gypsol brand has grown significantly since its creation two years ago and has gained the majority of the market. Made mainly from a
Paul Pepper, Managing Director of Francis Flower, commented: “The Gypsol product is a highly useful, innovative creation. Since introducing the product to the market 2 years ago, we have received a fantastic amount of interest and sales have soared. We provide the basis for your company to produce a high quality floor screed and we create the demand in the market for you to sell into. “Whether you are an architect, main contractor, self-builder or a flooring contractor, we offer the best advice so you have all the information necessary
to maximise the benefit of Gypsol in your project.”

The Solida system from Francis Flower (Northern) Ltd is designed to offer the mass housing market a highly costeffective, efficient and environmentally friendly floor solution that combines easily accessible, existing technologies in innovative ways. The first process in changing to the Solida system involves the introduction of underfloor heating technologies into ground and separating floors in combination with GYPSOL based flowing anhydrite floor screeds. For surprisingly little increase in build cost, the Solida system delivers significant improvement in desirability and asset value, increased levels of useable space, reductions in heating operating costs and improvements in energy efficiency. Currently the mass housing market in general uses solid concrete or suspended type ground floors with timber joisted separating floors. In general the heating systems used are radiator central heating systems. The Solida system seeks to change this, such that the heating systems are underfloor heating on all floors coupled with energy efficient heat sources such as condensing gas boiler systems or renewable heat technologies such as air or ground source heat pumps which may be more appropriate to higher code and carbon neutral developments. The first principal of the Solida system is therefore the introduction of energy efficient underfloor heating systems along with GYPSOL screeds. There are a number of potential positive side effects of this. When a change is made from radiators to underfloor heating the occupier gains more useable space in each room by virtue of the fact that they no longer need to avoid placing furniture against radiators. The
generally accepted figure for this is 8% to 10% more useable space. This offers a number of practical and commercial opportunities to the house builder. Paul explained: “We have seen based on evaluations by, and discussions with, major house builders that the use of underfloor heating, given the above points offers greater desirability to purchasers. In some markets this has enabled the builder to offer higher asset value to buyers. “The system offers added value due to increased useable floor space, improved desirability and “kerb appeal,” reduced energy use and subsequent cost savings to occupiers/owners, improved environmental profile and future proof design for higher code values.” The use of GYPSOL based screeds over the underfloor heating systems reduces the operating costs of the heating system. Tests using efficient and correctly designed underfloor heating systems have shown that using anhydrite screeds can improve the co-efficient of performance of an underfloor heating system by up to 25%. Additionally flow temperatures can be reduced by some 40 to 50 Celcius compared to the temperatures required for radiator systems or some 10 to 15 Celcius compared to underfloor heating systems in traditional sand cement screeds. This all adds to the desirability and helps justify a higher selling price. This also helps the builder to achieve higher code levels where required and to gain extra code credits in coded sustainable developments. Burst pesky system bubbles with Inta-Vent Inta is making trapped wind a thing of the past with a new tool that automatically extracts air bubbles from sealed heating systems using a powerful vortex filtration system. The Inta-Vent Daerator puts paid to common problems in commercial and domestic heating appliances, such as noisy pipes, increased wear on system components, cold spots in radiators and corrosion. The filter works by forcing water in the system to pass through a tight coil of stainless steel mesh, generating a vortex within the filter body. This action exposes and captures micro bubbles, which

then combine and rise before being discharged. As well as reducing the risk of system wear and tear, Inta-Vent increases fuel efficiency by ensuring systems are operating with optimum conditions, increasing both their longevity and day-to-day performance. Boasting a sturdy solid brass construction and available in 22 and 28mm, the filter is quick and easy to fit, with full 360° installation. A negative safety culture could have potentially fatal consequences Research findings from a YouGov survey conducted on behalf of Seton have shown that health and safety is not always prioritised in small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and that a high proportion of accidents at work could have been avoided. In order to make health and safety a top priority for businesses, a fundamental shift in attitude towards safety is necessary. Stephen Thomas, Health and Safety Technical Consultant at Croner Solutions (a leading business consultancy in the health and safety industry), shares his thoughts on some of the research outcomes and provides expert advice on how to improve safety standards in the future. YouGov survey findings reveal that 62% of senior decision makers at SMEs admit to a number of barriers preventing them from investing more in health and safety. On top of the usual cost and time constraints, the lack of a healthy safety culture seems to be
a key obstacle. 20% of employers surveyed believe that there is too much bureaucracy involved, an attitude particularly prevalent in construction, and 13% of employers stated that employees are often resistant to following health and safety procedures. A shocking 21% of senior decision makers held the attitude that health and safety is not that important in their industry. 10% of construction employers held this belief despite that fact that the construction industry accounted for nearly half of all workplace fatalities last year according to the latest Health and Safety Executive report. High insulation level, high strength, high build speed but low cost, low skill levels with no drama. Polarwall is an Insulating Concrete Formwork (ICF) construction system that is totally different to any other ICF system. With Polarwall you design what you want and the builder creates it!
