The most valuable player of the 2A state championship game, Brashear went 12-2 with a 1.20 ERA. He recorded 135 strikeouts. The versatile senior also batted .500 with 37 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

The senior left-hander who has signed with Texas A&M was 11-3 with a 2.26 ERA as the staff ace. Schlottmann pitched 10 complete games and had 124 strikeouts in 102 1/3 innings to help the Cubs make state.

Walla provided punch and run production in the middle of the order, hitting .392 with 17 doubles, five home runs and 56 runs batted in. One of the best-fielding first basemen that Jim Long has coached at Brenham.

Matt Fritsche Rudder Rangers

2B

Fritsche was par t of Rudder’s first senior class that made the playoffs twice. A solid defensive player, he helped make the Ranger offense go by batting .426 with nine doubles, five triples and two home runs.

SS

Rinn was a driving force for the state champions, batting .485 with 14 doubles, five triples, eight homers and 62 RBIs. The senior also supplied speed with 22 stolen bases. As a pitcher, Rinn was 11-1 with a 2.22 ERA.

Lance Walker

Versatile McNair played catcher and pitched. The hardhitting junior was the district’s outstanding player for the third consecutive year after hitting .700 with eight homers, 53 RBIs and 27 stolen bases.

The Texas A&M signee hit .397 with 16 doubles, four homers and 44 RBIs. Brenham’s center fielder established school records for best career batting average (.458), along with most hits (169), doubles (46) and RBIs (135).

Rudder Rangers

A three-year starter, Danford played a prominent role in the Rudder offense by hitting .455 with 13 doubles, two home runs and 13 RBIs. The senior, who also pitched, posted a .513 average in district play.

Culbreth, who has committed to Texas, represents a natural fit as the team’s relief pitcher. The junior had a mark of 4-0 with two saves and an 0.20 earned run average. He batted .361 with five homers and 34 RBIs.

The senior led the way for the Lions’ offense, posting a .528 batting average with 14 doubles while driving in 26 runs. A multi-sport standout for the Lions, Walker provided pop with a .764 slugging percentage.

Brown powered the offense while playing first base. The senior batted .470 with 12 doubles, four triples and seven home runs. Consol’s top power hitter drove in 41 runs and had a slugging percentage of .880.

Ford Moore A&M Consolidated Tigers

UT

Moore could have been picked on pitching alone, but he also played center field and batted leadoff. He batted .449 with eight doubles, three triples and 15 runs batted in. On the mound, the junior was 8-0 with a 2.12 ERA.

Drake Roberts Brenham Cubs

The Cubs’ leadoff hitter posted a .351 batting average with 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 39 RBIs. An Arkansas signee, he was successful on 31 of 36 stolen base attempts to ignite the Brenham offense.

Justin Duewall, Brazos Christian, fr. — He posted a 4.41 GPA and made a perfect score on national Latin I exam. Matthew Fritsche, Rudder, sr. — The first-team all-BV second baseman had a 3.85 GPA to rank 14th in a class of 221. Michael Miner, Bryan, jr. — The first baseman ranked sixth in his class with a 4.68 GPA and was second-team all-district. Alec Paradowski, Consolidated, jr. — Tiger shortstop had a 4.4 GPA to rank 14th in class of 670. Also member of NHS. Josh Schulman, Consolidated, sr. — First-team all-district outfielder had 98.2 average and made national AP with distinction. Cody Skubal, Rockdale, jr. — Posted a grade point average of 4.25 and ranked fourth in his class of 115. Zac Slaydon, Bryan, soph. — He had a 4.34 GPA and was ranked eighth in his class. Made honorable mention all-district. Caleb Veteto, St. Joseph, sr. — The NHS member posted a 3.98 GPA. He was a first-team all-district selection. Lance Walker, Franklin, sr. — Another member of the all-BV team, he had a 3.96 GPA to rank fifth in his class.

Co-Coaches of the Year Justin Dunnam Madisonville Mustangs His peers voted for Dunnam to share the honor after leading the Mustangs to their first district championship. The second-year coach helped the team make its first trip to the second round of the playoffs.

The senior, an all-state tournament pitcher, had a 15-7 record with a 2.75 ERA and also batted .466 for the TAPPS state finalists. She also earned first-team all-district honors in TAPPS 5-3A.

The leadoff hitter scored 59 runs, drove in 20 and stole 37 bases while collecting six doubles, seven triples and three home runs as she was named District 12-5A offensive player of the year. Bettiol, who earned All-America honors, signed with Nebraska.

Drake led the Lady Bulldogs to the Class A regional quarterfinal round by batting .517 and had a .725 on-base percentage. The sophomore also drove in 34 runs. She earned all-state honors by the coaches.

Alli Spivey Brenham Cubettes

Spivey batted .406 and scored 39 runs for the Cubettes. The sophomore drove home 11 runs and was successful on all 39 of her steal attempts. She earned honorable mention all-state by the writers. She also plays volleyball.

Hollie Chennault St. Joseph Lady Eagles

Chennault, a first-team allstate player, batted .662 with nine doubles, six triples and nine homers. The senior stole 43 bases and notched 41 RBIs. She also earned all-tournament at state.

Navasota Lady Rattlers

Garcia had a .535 batting average, with eight doubles, 11 triples and two home runs. The senior stole 26 of 27 bases and had a slugging percentage of .953. She has signed with East Texas Baptist. She also played volleyball and ran track.

A&M Consolidated’s first AllAmerican hit .574 (.826 slugging), scoring 59 runs with 20 RBIs and 37 stolen bases. The University of Nebraska signee earned all-state honors by the coaches. She was 12-5A’s Player of the Year.

The all-around contributor was 13-8 as a pitcher with a 2.69 ERA in 119.7 innings, and the senior also batted .387 with 13 doubles and 35 RBIs. She had a .550 slugging percentage. She pitched a 1-0 victory over Garland in area playoff action.

Bryan Lady Vikings

The clutch playoff performer hit .447 overall with a .728 slugging percentage. The junior also had 14 doubles, six triples and six homers. She earned first-team all-state by the coaches and third-team allstate honors by the sports writers.

The freshman was 18-9 with a 2.18 ERA. She had eight shutouts, two no-hitters and seven one-hitters. The honorable mention all-district pick by the writers struck out 203 in 138 innings. She led 18-8 NZ to regional quarterfinals.

The third baseman batted .429 with 16 doubles, six triples and 40 RBIs. The junior, who has pledged to the University of Pittsburgh, had seven game-winning hits and struck out only once. She earned second-team all-state honors by the writers.

Lexington Lady Eagles The shortstop and pitcher hit .484 with 36 RBIs with 57 runs scored. As a pitcher the freshman was 7-1 with a 2.08 ERA. The 27-2A all-district selection also played basketball and ran track.

Eagle file photo Bryan High third baseman Meagan Kraatz (right) earned third-team all-state honors by the Texas Sports Writers Association. Kraatz, a junior, batted .447, with two homers and six triples. Kraatz also drove in 35 runs and scored 39. She was successful on 15 of 17 steal attempts. Kraatz helped the Lady Vikings reach the Class 5A regional semifinals.

Selected by his coaching peers, Giese led the Lady Eagles to an 18-14 record and into the TAPPS Class 3A state championship game, the school’s first appearance in the state final.
