BRAZOS VALLEY GIVES IS ABOUT “GIVING WHERE YOU LIVE” In the Brazos Valley, we have over 1800 nonprofits that provide a way for us to work together for the common good, giving shape to our high ideals and noble causes. Every person in our community benefits from the work of nonprofits in ways that some may not even realize. From Friends of the Library to Boys and Girls Club of the Brazos Valley, Big Brother Big Sisters, and the Brenham Children’s Chorus, to name a few, nonprofits permeate our daily living and our broader culture—providing important quality of life needs that otherwise would be lost. Nonprofits and philanthropy provide a way to bring communities together—creating equity for all. One in eight jobs in the Brazos Valley is tied directly to the nonprofit sector. We need nonprofits to thrive because they are economic engines that enhance our local economy. Now, more than ever, we believe that nonprofits are where the Brazos Valley comes together to solve problems, promote civic engagement and connect our leaders and innovators that make our towns true communities. However, in the time of the pandemic, nonprofits face serious challenges that limit their ability to serve the people and communities that rely on them. This is the time for us to be creative and resourceful, connecting with our nonprofits to support their mission—with our monetary support and our

time. Local nonprofits need us now. Brazos Valley Gives is 18 hours of online giving that brings the region together on one day and as “one community” to raise critical funding and awareness for nonprofit organizations throughout the Brazos Valley. This day of giving provides citizens and businesses an easy platform to support the mission and good works of local nonprofit organizations that serve the Brazos Valley – strengthening nonprofits, empowering donors, and building community. In 2019, the inaugural year of Brazos Valley Gives, 103 nonprofits participated with 100% of the nonprofits receiving a financial benefit from the $363,686 that was raised. Also, each participating nonprofit was eligible for $25,250 in prizes that were awarded during a postcelebration event. Of the 1,155 individuals who donated, many made donations to multiple organizations. Even so, 879 first-time donations were made by donors to support a local nonprofit that they had not supported before! In 2020, in the middle of a COVID-19 crisis, the second annual Brazos Valley Gives raised over $801,000—distributed to 136 nonprofits. Six of our seven counties within the Brazos Valley participated. This year—the third annual Brazos Valley Gives will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. 154 nonprofits have registered to

We are a community of widows finding hope and healing in Christ, encouraging one another in the journey and seeking God’s purpose for our lives in this season.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gi s to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. We work with local assistance agencies who vet the families and help them with food and clothing as well as the toys.
