WELCOME TO THE 2021
Fall Parade of Homes™ By Dennis McMillin & David Deutsch Co-Chairmen, Parade of Homes™ Committee, Greater Brazos Valley Builders Association
We are happy to bring to you the 2021 Fall Parade of Homes™ being held on October 16 & 17. We are experiencing a housing market like we have not seen before with a very low inventory of available homes in our area. This event provides you an opportunity to meet builders, view their craftsmanship and check on available lots to build on. Recognizing that homes are selling quicker than usual, now is a good time to check out other options as well. We have incorporated the opportunity to visit several established subdivisions that are opening new phases. Thinking of building a home can sometimes take years of planning so why not look at purchasing a lot now? The Greater Brazos Valley is becoming increasingly popular because of all of the wonderful things
our community offers. With many people realizing they didn’t have to be stuck in traffic Dennis McMillin for hours every day and still work from the comfort of their home, more and more folks are looking at areas like ours to move to. We encourage you to think about David Deutsch where you would like to live. Find out about the many styles, price points, community amenities, area schools and wonderful things happening here. From dirt to dream home – it’s never too early to start looking.

How does Americans across the country. In addition to housing measure up to other investments, having a place to call home like the stock market? Not surprising, many and a sense of community, Americans view homeownership as a sound many people purchase investment to provide financial security. homes to help build A recent study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York found that most households view housing as a good investment in comparison to the stock market. When asked whether a young couple should buy a primary residence or invest in the stock market more than 90% of the survey respondents chose housing. The survey was run in February 2020 (largely before the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States), October 2020 and February 2021. viable pathway to generate returns. When asked to choose between investing in a rental property or the overall stock market, more than 50% of the households recommended housing each time the survey was administered. In selecting housing as a better investment over the stock market, most survey respondents cited “desired living environment and provides stability,” “housing prices less volatile,” and higher house prices as their primary reasons. Americans view housing, as a primary residence or as rental property, as a good investment compared to the stock market. Many home owners count on their home equity to fund retirement, their children’s education, and other important needs. In addition to an investment opportunity, owning a home represents a big part of the American Dream and provides a solid foundation for families. Explore the Many Benefits of New Homes BY GBVBA COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT
Many Americans are ready to buy a new place, after spending more time at home this past year. According to a recent survey by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), 60 percent of buyers prefer new homes, the highest level since 2007. Modern designs, less maintenance and energy efficiency top the benefits list, especially as we ask our homes to do more. “Today’s new homes offer the type of features that buyers are seeking in the wake of the pandemic, from reducing energy consumption to adding more space,” said David Deutsch, 2021 GBVBA President “New homes offer modern designs and flexibility, allowing buyers to choose a space that will provide a place for everyone in the household to live, work and play.” New homes offer modern floor plans and designs to optimize space and comfort at home. Buyers have the option to select large open areas to accommodate any lifestyle or growing T H E B RYA N - C O L L E G E S TAT I O N E A G L E
family. Many new homes have the type of spaciousness that are not typically found in older homes. Modern designs are not limited to flexible spaces. New homes are equipped with the latest technological features and appliances. Another benefit of purchasing a new home is the energy efficient options available. Many builders have embraced green building techniques, so a home is cost-effective to operate, has healthy indoor air quality and has a minimal impact on environmental resources. NAHB recently surveyed more than 3,000 home buyers, both recent and prospective, on the types of features they prefer to have in their home, including ecofriendly components and designs. Some of the top features desired by home buyers include ENERGY STAR-rated windows and appliances and efficient lighting that uses less energy than traditional bulbs. Parade of Homes™
Not only can a new home save you money on utility bills, you can save on home maintenance costs. Professional home builders construct quality homes that are built to last. The headache of managing costly repairs can be avoided for many years. New home buyers do not have to hassle with trying to figure out which appliance will need to be replaced soon. With a new home, upgrades and remodels are not in the immediate future, so you can focus on settling into your new home, enjoying your new community and embracing your part in achieving the American Dream. For information on the benefits of new homes, visit your local home builder’s association at www.gbvbuilders.org and attend the 2021 Fall Parade of Homes™ on October 16th & 17th. How to Find a Builder Right for You
BY DAVID DEUTSCH President, Greater Brazos Valley Builders Association
If you’re thinking about buying a new home, one key decision you’ll have to make is finding a home builder. Working with an experienced, professional builder can make a difference when it comes to creating your dream home. Seeking out a home builder that will meet your expectations involves targeted research and asking the right questions. Below are some steps you can take to find a builder who is right for you. Make a List of Potential Builders With so many companies to choose from the best first step is to make a list of potential builders. The Greater Brazos Valley Builders Association has a list of builders who work in this area.
