St. Joseph Regional Health Center is the flagship hospital of the St. Joseph Health System. What started as a single hospital in Bryan more than 75 years ago is now a not-for-profit, faith-based health system with over 30 locations across the Brazos Valley. Major clinical specialties include orthopedics, neurosciences, cardiac, oncology and maternal/child care services. St. Joseph’s commitment to our original mission has remained the same. We seek to provide excellent heath care and promote wellness throughout the Brazos Valley. Our journey to excellence is measured not by local comparisons, but national best practices and top-performing hospitals across America. St. Joseph’s orthopedic services were rated No. 1 in the state of Texas and named one of the 100 Best Hospitals in the nation by HealthGrades for 2012. The ranking includes spine surgery and joint replacement. The nation’s nearly 5,000 hospitals were included in this annual study, which examined mortality rates and complication rates from government data. St. Joseph Regional Health Center is the region’s first Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center and one of 600 hospitals in the U.S. listed on the gold and silver honor rolls for stroke care. In 2012, St. Joseph’s Stroke Program was named among the top 10 percent in the nation for Stroke Care. St. Joseph treats more stroke patients than any other facilities in the Brazos Valley. We were also the Brazos Valley’s first Joint Commission certified Chest Pain Center. Currently, St. Joseph Regional is designated as the Lead Level 3 Trauma hospital in our seven-county region. A Level 2 designation would be the next higher level. St. Joseph meets many of the criteria and is working toward meeting all of the requirements. We anticipate a final Level 2 designation early next year. Upon designation, St. Joseph Regional will be the only Level 2 Trauma center between Waco and Houston. More trauma patients in the Brazos Valley will be treated in the Brazos Valley and families and patients won’t have to travel as far away from home. Our cancer program is the only one in the Brazos Valley and one of 25 in the state to be accredited with a commendation as a comprehensive community hospital by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. St. Joseph patients can expect a complete range of state-of-the art services and equipment, a team approach to coordinate the best available treatment options, information about ongoing cancer clinical trials and new treatment options, education and support, lifelong patient follow-up, and most importantly, quality care close to home. Now, patients can also count on the support of our Nurse Navigator, who will help to guide patients through the diagnosis, treatment and recovery process. In 2011, St. Joseph Regional opened our newly remodeled and expanded Women’s Center to mothers and babies. The $13 million project included adding new labor and delivery rooms, exam rooms, a surgical suite, recovery area and special-care nursery. The well-baby 8

College Station Medical Center

College Station Medical Center traces its beginning to the city of Bryan where it began as Bryan Hospital in 1931. In 1987, the hospital moved to its current location on Rock Prairie Road. Throughout the 81 years of its existence, the hospital has grown and developed, focusing on advanced medical care for the Brazos Valley and increasing its relevancy to the community. Today, College Station Medical Center (The MED) is a 167-bed level III trauma facility with an assessed property value exceeding $110 million, making it the largest taxpayer in College Station and a top five taxpayer in Brazos County. A benevolent community partner, the hospital supports numerous civic and local charities, is the official healthcare provider of Texas A&M Athletics and provides an estimated 17 percent of its annual collections in underwriting charity care and helping patients and families with financial assistance. Over the past several years, the hospital has focused on developing the medical infrastructure and technology in and around its campus and recruiting primary and specialty care physicians. The hospital has a medical staff exceeding 500, with over 100 physicians located on campus. With over 300,000 square feet of medical office space, The MED offers one of the most advanced medical corridors in the region. In 2011, the hospital completed a $22.5M expansion and renovation project that included six additional exam rooms in the Emergency Department and an expansion of the Women’s Pavilion, including new labor and delivery suites, ante- and postpartum rooms and rooms specifically designed for gynecological surgery patients. The expansion also brought the area’s first and only neonatal intensive care unit with all private rooms. College Station Medical Center has led many first time medical advancements in the area including the introduction of neonatology, surgical robotics and advanced interventional cardiology. The MED is currently the region’s only Accredited Cycle III Chest Pain Center, Accredited Sleep Center for both adults and pediatrics and home to the 30-Minute ER Service Pledge. A partnership with the BVCAA introduced College Station’s first Women and Children’s clinic within the framework of a federally qualified health center. In 2011, The MED introduced fertility medicine and maternal fetal medicine to the area by collaborating with Advanced Fertility Center of Texas and The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. In 2012, The MED became an in-network provider for the Scott & White Health Plan. Scott & White College Station

Scott & White Healthcare - College Station is a multi-specialty group practice that provides high quality, comprehensive care for the entire family. It is part of the growing number of Scott & White Healthcare clinics and hospitals serving Central Texas and the Brazos Valley. Located at 1600 University Drive East, Scott & White Clinic - College Station offers convenient and comprehensive care for men, women and children. This clinic houses over 30 medical specialties, including family medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, obstetrics/gynecology, oncology and cosmetic surgery. Also located at the University Drive campus is a four-suite ambulatory surgery center. This surgery center allows the College Station clinic to provide outpatient surgery procedures, giving patients an option for surgery that is convenient and close to home. To meet the growing health care needs of the residents of the Brazos Valley, Scott & White opened the Scott & White Clinic - Arrington Road in south College Station. The facility, located at the intersection of Highway 40 and Arrington Road, houses four family medicine physicians, as well as a fullservice pharmacy, on-site laboratory services and diagnostic x-ray capabilities. Scott & White officially broke ground on the future Scott & White Hospital - College Station, in March 2011. Located at the intersection of Texas Highway 6 and Rock Prairie Road, the hospital and adjacent medical office building are expected to open in the summer of 2013. The facility will be approximately 320,000 square feet, opening with 119 beds and housing services such as a neonatal intensive care unit, full-service cancer center, level III emergency department, cardiology services, neurosurgery and robotic surgery capabilities. Along with the adjacent 125,000-square foot medical office building, the project is estimated as a $165 million investment and will add over 400 jobs to the community. Scott & White Healthcare has also expanded services to Brenham. Scott & White Hospital - Brenham includes a 60-bed acute care hospital, as well as a 128-bed long-term care facility. Texas A&M Physicians is a medical practice comprised of faculty and staff from the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) College of Medicine.
