LOVE HEART JEWELLERY SET
DESIGN BY MARY HUGHES
MATERIALS CLICK HERE TO GET YOUR MATERIALS
Learn how to make this delicate wire jewellery set using bright size 6 seed beads and shining silver plated findings. These lovely hearts were designed by Mary Hughes and are perfect for adapting into romantic decorations for Valentine's day or wedding celebrations!
TOOLS • Wire cutters • Chain nose pliers • Round nose pliers • Nylon jaw pliers • Wire hammer • Steel block
1. Cut a length of 1mm wire measuring approx 25cm and straighten it with your fingers or nylon jaw pliers. 2. Fold in half and open up the ends of the wire so it forms a V shape, straighten again. 3. Bend the left side over into a curve, with the end of the wire ending up pointing down. 4. Bend the right side of wire to the left into a bigger curve, again gently with fingers so that the end is pointing downwards and the 2 wires are parallel next to each other. 5. Trim the end of the smaller curve, with enough left to create a small curl shape. Curl the wire using round nose pliers. 6. Coil the end of the larger curve up in the same direction as the smaller side, but in a tighter coil, again using round nose pliers. 7. Optional, if you have a wire hammer, the heart can be gently hammered with the nylon side to harden up the shape. 8. Cut a 15cm length of 0.31mm purple wire. 9. Wrap around part of the heart where 2 curves meet, making sure the 2 curves don’t overlap, finish both ends with 3 wraps around single wire, trim excess tails and make sure that ends are -
- smoothed down with chain nose pliers to ensure they don’t catch on your skin. 10. Cut a 80cm piece of 0.31mm purple wire. 11. Start on smaller curve next to the wrap created in step 9. Wrap round wire going away from centre of the heart, try to keep the wraps neat and next to each other. Throughout wrapping, compress the wraps so they are neatly next to each other. Pull the wire to the front of the heart so the beads sit correctly. 12. Put a bead on to the wire and holding it close to the inside of the heart, wrap the wire. 13. Continue doing this until the whole of the inside of the heart is beaded. Try and place a bead right at the bottom point of the heart. 14. Trim the tails and smooth as before. 15. Attach a jumpring on the larger side of the heart between 2 beads. 16. The heart then can be put on a charm hanger, strung onto a necklace, put on a bangle, or attached to Kumihimo braids. The hearts can be made in different sizes, beads can be random or in a pattern. 17. To create earrings, the 2 hearts need to match and the bead pattern should be the same. Each heart will then be attached to earring wires.

PEARL & CRYSTAL LARIAT SET
DESIGN BY REBEKAH COLEMAN
MATERIALS CLICK HERE TO GET YOUR MATERIALS
TOOLS • Thread cutters • Wire cutters • Chain nose pliers • Round nose pliers • Flat nose pliers • One-step looper
Create an adjustable necklace with sparkling Swarovski crystal beads! This shimmering collection is perfect for a glamorous occassion and is ideal for wearing throughout Spring and Summer. Choose your favourite heart shaped Swarovski BeCharmed bead and personalise the centre of your lariat necklace. This beautiful set was designed by Rebekah Coleman and is perfect for customising with your favourite Swarovski crystal tones for different designs throughout the year.
NECKLACE You may find a one-step looper useful for creating even sized loops. I like to prepare all my components first, attach the following: - 8x heart charms onto jump rings - 2x crystal hearts onto jump rings - heart coin charm onto a jump ring - 16x pink pearls onto headpins - 16x white pearls onto headpins - 5x 8mm crystal bicones onto headpins - 8x pink pearls onto eyepins - 10x white pearls onto eyepins - 4x 6mm crystal bicones onto eyepins - Cut 1x 5”, 2x 5.5” and 2x 6.5” pieces of chain Keep the off-cuts of the pins to make eyepins with. 1. Take the elements attached to the eyepins and divide them into 2 equal groups. Link them together using jump rings to create 2 even pieces of chain. 2. Take the 5” piece of chain and attach one of the beaded chains you’ve just made to each end. (You could omit the piece of chain and create more eye pin elements, I like to use chain as it is hidden by most hairlines) This will create an 18” necklace, if you would like it to be shorter, reduce the number of pearls you use. 3. On to one end attach both the 5.5” pieces of chain; attach both the 6.5” pieces to the other. 4. Thread both chains from one end of the necklace through the BeCharmed bead, then pass both chains from the other end through the bead in the opposite direction. This will create the slider allowing the necklace to be lengthened. 5. Attach one of the following elements to the end of each piece of chain using jump rings; 8mm bicone, both crystal hearts and the heart coin charm. (Attaching these first will stop the chains slipping back through the BeCharmed bead) 6. Divide the remaining beads and heart charms into 4 equal groups (there should be 4x 6mm -
- bicones, 4x pink pearls, 4x white pearls, an 8mm bicone & 2x heart charms in each group) 7. Starting at the bottom of each chain, attach one element per link of chain, alternating the side of the chain they hang. Repeat for all 4 chain ends. BRACELET Attach the following: - 1x 8mm crystal bicone onto an eyepin - 4x white pearls onto eyepins - 6x pink pearls onto eyepins - 2x 6mm bicones onto headpins - 2x heart charms onto jump rings 1. Using jump rings, link the pearls & crystals together in this order: Pink – White – Pink – White – Pink – Crystal – Pink – White – Pink – White – Pink 2. Attach the toggle clasp to each end of your bracelet using jump rings. 3. To create movement in your piece add the heart charms & 6mm bicones to the jump rings. EARRINGS - Cut 6 pieces of chain: - 2x 0.75” long - 2x 1” long - 2x 1.25” long - Attach the following: - 2x white pearls onto headpins - 2x pink pearls onto headpins - 2x 6mm crystals onto headpins - 2x white pearls onto eyepins – make one of the loops slightly larger 1. Take one of each chain length and attach a pink pearl to the shortest, a white pearl the medium length piece and the 6mm crystal to the longest. 2. Attach all 3 pieces of chain to the larger loop on the eyepin. 3. Attach the other end of the eyepin on to an earring finding. 4. Repeat for the other earring.

CRYSTAL HEART NETTED CUFF

TOOLS • Thread cutters • Chain nose pliers • Round nose pliers • Size 10/12 beading needles
This stunning bracelet was designed by Joy Wignall and features subtle fire polished heart shapes on a delicate netted base. Follow Joy's step by step project below and create your own netted cuff - the perfect gift for Valentine's Day! Why not personalise your own bracelet with different colours of fire polished beads for the three sparkly hearts in the pattern? This pattern is perfect for adapting into a thinner or thicker cuff when you are creating your seed bead netting. Finish your bracelet off with shining, professional sterling silver findings!
Size 8 seed bead = A Size 11 seed bead = B Fire polished crystal = C
4. You have now turned to go back along the net. Repeat for each row, following the pattern for placement of the Fire Polished beads.
1. Start by creating the basic netting - Cut a double armspan of Fireline and add a needle to one end. Place a bead stopper approx. 40cm from the end. 2. Row 1: Pick up 1A, 2B, 1A, 2B, 1A, 2B, 1A, 2B, 1A, 2B, 1A, 2B, 1A, 2B. (See the first diagram) Turn for each new row: pick up 1A and 3B Row 2: Pick up 1A and 2B sew back through the third A from the end to finish the turn. Pick up 2B, 1A, 2B, skip one A and go back through the next A in the row. Pick up 2B, 1A and 2B, skip one A and go back through the next A in the row. Pick up 2B, 1A and 2B, skip one A and go back through the next A in the row. Repeat turn and row 2 until you count 23 turns at one end and 24 turns at the other.
5. After the last row of Fire Polished beads have been added weave through the remaining empty rows until exiting the third A seed bead on outer edge. Pick up 2B go up through the first hole in the clasp and back through the 2B go through A in the same direction as before, in a circular motion, then through 2B, 1A.
3. To embellish the net with the heart pattern: Cut another armspan of Fireline and add a needle to one end. Sew in to the net leaving a 10cm tail. Randomly follow the bead path exiting on the edge with 24 turns through the shared bead at the second turn passing DOWN through the size 8 seed bead. Pick up 1B, 1C, 1B go through the next shared A bead in the same row. Repeat twice more. Pick up 1B, 1C, 1B go through 2A, 1B.
6. Pick up 2B go up through the second hole in the clasp and back through the 2B go through A in the same direction as before then through 2B, 1A. Repeat twice more for the remaining holes. Weave through to the end of the row and return back to the first hole of the clasp and repeat the steps above to secure the clasp. Do this three times in total so the clasp is very secure, weave back randomly through the work, adding half hitch knots a few times before cutting off the thread. 7. Remove the stopper bead from the other end and thread the needle, add the other side of the clasp in the same way as above. 8. Weave in and cut the tails off any remaining threads from the heart embellishment. These instructions create a finished bracelet 7 inch in length.

VALENTINE'S HEART PENDANT
DESIGN BY ALEX PINHORN
MATERIALS CLICK HERE TO GET YOUR MATERIALS
TOOLS • Wire cutters • Round nose pliers • Size 10/12 beading needles
These pretty heart pendants were designed by Alex Pinhorn using tiny size 15 seed beads! Learn how to make yours with her project below! 1. Start by forming a wire frame in a firm wire, (1.25). I made a paper template to get the shape right. Join the frame together near the bottom by twisting the wire together and fold the ends into centre of frame. Loop the ends round (like an eye pin) so no wire can stick through the frame. Then wrap a finer wire (0.8) around to form a cage. 2. Cut an arm span of KO thread, pick up enough beads to fill the space between the point of the heart and the dip in the top, you are not working on the frame at this point. (For the larger heart I used 34 beads, for the smaller one it was 22 beads.) Peyote weave to the other end of your beads once. Both ends of your thread will now be at the same end, tie these together round the bottom point of the heart frame. Peyote weave back to the top and then loop the cord around the wire frame and back through the bead you just exited. Peyote weave to the bottom of the heart and wrap cord around the frame again, working from centre to fill one side, then back to the centre to fill the other side, wrapping round the frame each time you come to the end of a row. You will naturally decrease against the wire frame, adding more thread as you need, you can just tie it to the frame with a knot near the last bead added.
- the heart cage slightly rounder so needed a couple more beads to reach the points on the heart. 5. Attach to the frame as you did for the back, on the bottom point by tying onto frame, Peyote weave up the row to the top, this time instead of weaving round the frame you will weave into the bead on the back, this hides the frame and make the front slightly rounded over the frame to make the front smooth. 6. Weave for about 8 rows on the right front, then add one gold bead into the next row about a third of the way down from the top, (you can obviously put the heart anywhere you like, or cover the front in small gold hearts) continue in red, next row add two gold beads either side of the first gold, and so on to form a heart shape in gold into the red. See the design image to the left to see the gold heart design. 7. Once you have finished the right side of heart with the gold heart woven in, go back to centre bottom and start weaving in again to complete the left front with red, joining the sides all the way round as you did on the top, weaving into the beads on the back rather than winding round the frame.
3. As this heart is for Valentine's day I added a gold bead on the back, for me they represent my family (my children and late husband) you could add lots more if you wanted to.
8. Now make a small butterfly bail in the same beads as the heart (follow the Beads Direct ‘Peyote Butterfly Bail’ project HERE) once complete weave up from underside and add two beads sew into bail and then add two more, tighten together and add further two and so on until you have 12 rows. Sew the last two back into the bail to create a loop.
4. Once the back is completed start as you did at the beginning, an arm span of thread (away from the frame), add the same number of beads as before and Peyote weave up the thread. You may find you need slightly more (I made the front of -
9. Make sure it is secure and then sew the bail into the top of the heart by stitching into the beads on the top of the heart, secure the end and weave into the beads and cut off. Thread the loop formed onto chain of choice or key fob for the smaller heart.

SHIMMER HEART JEWELLERY SET
DESIGN BY SHARON EVELY
MATERIALS CLICK HERE TO GET YOUR MATERIALS
TOOLS • Thread cutters • Size 10/12 beading needles
Create these super sparkly beaded hearts using faceted glass beads and romantic pink seed beads. This brilliant design can be threaded onto a suede necklace cord or bracelet and finished with a Macramé sliding clasp! Follow Sharon's step by step project below and make your own shimmering heart jewellery set! Why not personalise your hearts and make them smaller for matching earrings or larger for pretty Valentine's decorations!
Large Pendant Heart Step 1. Cut an arm span of thread and attach a needle to both ends, you will be making these hearts with a right-angle weave. Thread on 4 rondelles and place them in the middle of the thread, then form the beads into a diamond shape by passing the thread through the first bead you strung, pull the thread tight. 2. Add two beads onto one needle and add one to the other needle. Using the needle with one bead pass this needle through the last bead on the other thread and pull tight. You are now creating a right-angle weave. Continue to add a further four rows in the same way, on the last row ensure your thread exits at the side rather than the bottom. 3. From your last row, you have exited on the side continue to add a further five rows. Again, as you exit the final fifth row ensure you exit on the side. You have now created the bottom V-shape to your heart. Now right angle weave down the inner side of the five rows you have just added. You will see that as you add a row you will be using beads that have already been strung. 4. Continue to complete this row through the Vshape and up the other side and exit again on the side of your last row. Weave down, through the V-shape and up to other side for the last time, finishing the shape of the heart. Using the remaining thread, weave all the way around the edge of the heart adding size 11 seed bead between each rondelle. Then work your needle through the rondelles in the heart and add size 11 seed beads in the same manor. 5. Create another heart exactly as you have above. When finished, you will be joining both hearts together giving the heart pendant extra stability. You should still have enough thread left to join the hearts together by using the size 11 seed beads. Hold the hearts together and thread through an edge seed bead on one heart, add another size 11 to your needle then thread through the opposite seed bead on the other heart. Pull tight and thread back through the added bead and back through the seed bead you started with. Continue to do this all the way around the hearts.
6. Once the hearts are joined you can now frill the edges. Start on one heart and exit on an edge seed bead, add three seed beads and take your needle over the rondelle and into the next seed bead, creating the frill. Continue to do this all the way around both hearts. 7. Final stage, you should still have enough thread to create the hanging loop from the top of the heart. Weave to the centre of the top V-shape and exit the centre seed bead, add 20 seed beads and thread through the other hearts centre V-shape seed bead. To ensure this is secure weave through all the beads loop through the beads again. Knot off your thread and weave the remaining thread throughout the heart pendant. 8. Using the leather/suede cord cut a length of 72cms and another length of 45cms. Slide the pendant on to the 72cm length of cord and position it centrally. (Create a sliding Macrame clasp following from step 8 on the instruction sheet HERE.) On your last complete knot, tie a normal knot and pull it tight to secure it and cut off the remaining ends. Then on the necklace ends tie a knot on each side as close as you can to the end of the cord. Small Heart Pendant: Follow steps 1 – 8 to create the smaller heart, however use 4 rows rather than 6. Join the hearts together by forming the loop in step 8, but add 10 seed beads, pass the thread through the bottom of the large pendant seed bead, add another 10 seed beads and back through the top V-shape of the small heart. Then weave back through the loop, tie off your thread and weave the remaining thread throughout the heart. Small Heart Bracelet: Follow steps 1 – 8 as you did to make the smaller heart. When you have joined and frilled the edges, decide which side of the heart will be the back of the bracelet and weave to the left side of the top of the heart, exit an edge seed bead and add 5 seed beads then miss the next seed bead and through the following edge seed bead, creating a small loop. You need to create a loop on the right side of the heart, so weave through to the right side and create another loop. Cut a length of 28cms and another of 20cms of the leather/suede cord then thread on the bracelet heart to the centre of the 28cms cord and follow the Macramé knotting instructions above for the clasp.
This pretty pendant is made using your favourite seed beads looped in and out of a seive pendant base. This design is best created using a beading thread that gives your beads movement and security.
