SUPERB SHAPES Discover the endless possibilities for designing your own jewellery, keepsakes and decorations when using shaped glass beads. These useful shapes are perfect for pairing with versatile size 11 and size 8 seed beads and can even be matched with other glass styles like fire polish and pearl beads.

Make your own version of this gorgeous Nib Bit ring bracelet by Nela Kabelova. Follow our simple project (by clicking on the bracelet) and learn how to make each ring and connect them securely to make versatile individual sections. Grab a few more packs of Nib Bits and link lots of rings together to make a long, statement necklace! Try finishing your necklace with an extension chain so that you can make it even longer.

We love these spiky Chilli beads and have used them in patterns to make pendants, bracelets and earrings! These useful little shapes have 2 threading holes allowing for different patterns to be woven between them using seed beads and other shapes. Try creating a sun inspired pendant with chilli beads positioned on the very edge of the circle. The double threading hole means you can make a really strong pendant with plenty of reinforcement and space to work. Make sure to weave your thread around your finished design, making knots over the threads along the way and keeping your tension tight before trimming any excess tails.

SEE ALL SILKY BEADS

MAKE ME >> This beautiful blue pendant was designed by Nela Kabelova and uses shining Nib Bit beads in opaque white and cobalt blue alongside colourful Toho seed beads in different sizes. Follow Nela's project by clicking on the image above. You'll have plenty of seed beads and thread left over to make yourself a matching pair of earrings or even a delicate seed bead bracelet!

Candy beads from Preciosa are so much fun to work with. The beads are flat on one side and then slightly domed on the other, this makes them nice to wear against your wrist or form into 3-D shapes. This pretty bracelet is an example of how different types of beads can match with your glass shapes. The accents along the edge are Swarovski crystal bicones and the bracelet is finished with a Swarovski faceted round bead.

There are several shapes to choose from that have two threading holes. These gorgeous Silky beads have a smooth ridge across the middle on the top and a smooth finish giving them their name. Each bead has diagonal threading holes that mean you would add seed beads into the gaps between them as they will sit point to point.

CRYSTAL LADDER JEWELLERY SET

DESIGNED BY REBEKAH COLEMAN

GET ALL YOUR MATERIALS IN ONE PLACE! CLICK HERE TO GET EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR JEWELLERY SET!

I love working with seed bead mixes, you get a wonderful range of colours allowing you to be completely random or to create a pattern using the colours & sizes provided. Due to the random nature of the packs, if you decide you want to make a pattern I always find it useful to order an extra pack, this way there is less chance of being 1 bead short for your design. I used 2 packs to create both the bracelet and the necklace and I designed the pattern around what I had. SB – 11/0 seed bead BC – 4mm bicone

BB - 6mm bugle bead 6 – 6mm round bead

Bracelet - 1. Cut a double arm span of nymo (condition the thread if you want to) attach a needle to one end. 2. Pick up 1xSB, 1xBB, 5xSB, clasp, 4xSB. Leaving a short tail for tension that can be woven into the design at the end, go through all the beads & clasp again, exit after the BB. Go back through all the beads again, however this time, miss the SB on either side of the BB. This will pull the missed SB’s to sit directly above & below the BB ensuring no gaps in your design. Set up for the next step by going through the next SB. 3. Pick up SB, BC, 2xSB, 6mm, 2xSB, BC, SB Go through the SB, BB & SB already in the design and through the next 3 beads (SB, BC, SB). Go back through all the beads again, missing the SB directly before & after the 6mm round bead. This ‘locks’ the SB’s in place and re-enforces the design as you go. Set up for the next step by going through the next SB. 4. Pick up SB, BC, 2xSB, BB, 2xSB, BC, SB. Go through the SB, 6mm & SB already in the design and through the next 2 beads (SB, BC, SB). Go back through all the beads again, missing the SB directly before & after the BB. Go through the SB to be in position for the next step. 5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until you reach the desired length. Ensure the last ‘step’ bead you add is a BB. 6. Pick up 4xSB, the other side of your clasp and 4xSB, go through the SB, BB & SB already in the design. Re-enforce this loop by going through the beads twice, but the second time, miss the SB’s either side of the BB. 7. Navigate your working thread and tail into the design, tying a couple of half hitch knots and trim them off.

Necklace - 1. Cut a triple arm span length of nymo, or as much as you can comfortably manage. 2. Pick up 2xSB, BC, 2xSB, BB, 2xSB, BC, 2xSB, 6mm. Leaving a 12” tail, go back through the first 4 beads. Go through all the beads again, except the SB’s before and after the BB and 6mm (the ‘step’ beads in the ladder). Go through the next SB to be in position for the next ladder step. 3. Pick up SB, BC, 2xSB, 6mm, 2xSB, BC, SB. Go through the SB, BB & SB already in the design and through the next 3 beads (SB, BC, SB). Go back through the design again missing the SB directly before & after the 6mm. Pull firm and set up for the next step by going through the next SB. 4. Pick up the beads according to the chart, continue from round 4. (Rounds 1, 2 & 3 were completed in steps 2 & 3.) Once you have picked up the appropriate beads, thread through the ‘step’ (BB & 6mm) beads and then go through all the beads again skipping the SB either side of the ‘step’. This is important to anchor the beads together ensuring there are no gaps and the ladder steps are straight. 5. From row 5 the length of the ‘step’ starts to increase. Take care to go through all the beads in the step to keep them straight. Row 6 sees an extra size 8 SB added to the bottom rows, these fall either side of the BB ‘step’ and enable the curve in the necklace. 6. Once all the rounds have been completed it is time to add the strap. You will need about 12” of thread exiting from the top row of the necklace. Cut another piece of nymo about an arm span in length (condition it you would like to.) Pass this thread through the bottom row of the necklace, leaving a 12” tail (to match the tail already there) These tail threads will form the strap on the other side. (I like to tie a half hitch knot about halfway along, this stops the thread from pulling all the ways through.) 7. On the top thread pick up SB, BB and on the bottom thread pick up 2xSB, BB. Pass the top thread through the beads added to the bottom thread, through the SB, 6mm, SB and back through the beads just added. Do the same with the bottom thread, this time going through the top beads, down the SB, 6mm, SB and back through the 2xSB & BB added. This will add strength and stability to the strap. 8. For the rest of the strap either add both threads to one needle or work with one thread first and then pass the second thread up through all the beads. The strap can be made to any length you like, either follow my pattern or pick up the beads & remaining bicones randomly. 11, 8, 2x11, BC, 2X11, 8, 11, BB - Repeat 4 times 9. When the necklace strap is the desired length add on 11, 8, 8x11 plus the clasp. Pass the needle through the last 7 SB’s added & the clasp to form a loop, pull tight to ensure there are no gaps, go back through the 11, 8 & 11 SB’s tie a half hitch knot. Continue weaving the threads down the necklace strap tying a couple of half hitch knots as you go. Cut the threads. 10. Repeat steps 7-9 on the other side of the necklace, this time attaching the other side of your clasp in the seed bead loop.

SUMMER SEA CRYSTAL PEYOTE RING DESIGNED BY MARIANNE TAN

A - Size 11 seed bead

B - Size 15 seed bead

Rivoli: The base is made from peyote stitch. Unless otherwise stated, step up through the first bead added of the current round to begin the next round. Start with approximately 1m of beading thread, single thickness. Round 1: Pick up 5As, go through all of them again to form a circle. Also go through the first bead again to pull the circle closer together. Leave a tail of 10 - 15cm. Round 2: Pick up 1A and pass through the next A. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 5As for the round. Remember to step up. Round 3: Pick up 2As and pass through the next A. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 5 pairs of 2As. Step up only through the first bead of the 2As added. Round 4: Pick up 1A and pass through the next A, splitting up the pair of As added in the previous round. Pick up another A and pass through the next A (it should be the first bead of the next pair of A beads). Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 10As. Round 5: Pick up 1A and pass through the next A. Repeat around until you have added a total of 10As. Round 6: Pick up 3Bs and pass through the next A, creating a picot. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 30Bs. Step up through the first 2Bs of the set of 3Bs added. Round 7: Pick up 5Bs and pass through the middle bead of the set of 3Bs in the previous round. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 50Bs. Round 8: Pick up 1 crystal and pass through the middle (3rd) bead of the set of 5Bs in the previous round. Repeat around the circle until you have added 10 crystals. Place your rivoli in the middle. The fit may seem a little loose. Go through the crystals and pull to secure the rivoli. Reinforce through the crystals a few times until secure. Exit through the middle bead of a set of 3Bs in Round 6. You will now start to embellish the rivoli. Embellishment round 1: Pick up 1B, 1 crystal and 1B, and go through the next middle bead of the set of 3B beads. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 10 crystals. Your thread should be exiting through a middle B of a set of 3Bs in Round 6. Embellishment round 2: Pick up 1B, skip the next B, and pass through the crystal added in Embellishment round 1. Pick up another B, skip the next B, and pass through the middle B of the set of 3Bs in Round 6. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 20Bs. Secure both thread ends and trim. Ring Band: 1) The band is made from brick stitch and embellishing with a simple fringe. Start with 1.5m of thread. Pick up 2Bs and go up through the first bead again, leaving a 30cm tail. Go down through the 2nd bead and up through the first bead again. Your two beads should sit side-by-side. 2) Pick up 1B and go down through the previous bead and up through the bead just picked up. Repeat until you have 6Bs sitting side-by-side. Your thread should be exiting the last bead on the row. 3) Pick up 2Bs and go under the thread connecting the 2 end beads of the ladder stitch base. You may need to hold on to your tail thread to keep the beads from loosening. Pull snugly. Then go up the 2nd of the 2Bs just strung. The beads should sit on top of your ladder stitch base. 4) Pick up 1B and go under the thread connecting the next 2 beads of your ladder stitch base. Then go up the same bead just added. Repeat until you have added 6Bs to this row. 5) Keep building the rows using brick stitch until you reach your desired length to fit around your finger. A good length is about 4.5 - 5cm. Remember to factor in an additional 1cm for the riovli when determining the final length of your band. 6) Once your length is reached, weave the thread so that your needle exits from an up bead, in the direction of the rest of the band. Pick up 3As, skip the next up B bead, and go through the following up B bead. 7) Repeat all the way down the band and on the other side. As the ends of the band will connect to the rivoli do not worry if you have extra up beads there that have no fringe. Attaching the band to the rivoli: This is done by a simple weave between the 2 components. 1) Your thread should be exiting through the corner bead of the last row of the band. Go down through an A on Round 3 of the rivoli (if you find that your beads are a bit tight, go through an A on Round 4 instead. Adjust the following instructions accordingly). Then go up through the 2nd B of the band. Come back down through the 3rd B bead of the band. 2) Go through the next A on Round 2 of the rivoli. Then go up through the 4th B of the band and come back down through the 5th B of the band. Go through the next A of Round 3 of the rivoli, and up through the last B of the band. 3) Reinforce this thread path. Secure your working thread and trim. Repeat on the other side with your tail thread. Secure and trim.

TURQUOISE WAVE BRACELET DESIGNED BY SHARON EVELY

Making Your Bracelet: 1. With an arm span of fireline thread, add a needle to each end. 2. Thread on the magnetic clasp to the centre point then add a size 8 seed bead to both needles. 3. Add a rondelle to the right needle then pass the left needle through the rondelle and pull tight. 4. Add a ceramic bead to the left needle and 4 x rondelles to the right needle, then cross the left needle through the last rondelle. 5. Add a ceramic bead to the right needle and 4 x rondelles to the left, then cross the right needle through the last rondelle. Continue this process until you get the desired bracelet length. 6. On the last rondelle you have passed both needles through, add a size 8 seed bead to the left and right, then add the other half of the magnetic clasp to the right needle. 7. Pass the left needle through the clasp hole and using both needles pass back through the size 8 beads. 8. Pull the threads tight and tie off the left needle thread leaving a tail to weave through your bracelet at the end. Then with the right thread pass the needle through the first rondelle, exiting in front of the ceramic bead and add 10 x size 8 seed beads and pass through the middle rondelle, exiting in front of the ceramic bead. 9. Continue to do this up through your bracelet, pulling the thread tight. This will allow the seed beads to rise up the ceramic bead creating a weave effect. 10. Once you reach the end clasp tie off your thread and weave all remaining threads through the body of your bracelet.

MAKING SHELL & SEED BEAD BRACELETS These super cute bracelets are so easy to make using the simple materials in your free gift. Follow the instructions below and make up to 5 bracelets using your seed beads, shell charms and super shiny spacer beads! You can make your beads stretch further with the addition of some more clasps. Make a simple seed bead bracelet Step 1. Cut a length of thread measuring approx. 15 " long. Thread on your chosen beads and shell charms so they sit in the centre. Step 2. Onto one end of your thread, add your heart shape lobster clasp. Thread through the loop on the clasp and pass through 5 or 6 beads next to the clasp. Exit the beads and pull the thread so the beads sit close to the clasp. (A) Step 3. Make a knot using your working thread around the main thread where the beads have been strung. This secures your threads together and will reinforce your bracelet. After making the knot, pass your thread through a few more beads and repeat, knotting this thread onto your main bracelet thread. You can continue through to the other side of the bracelet. (B)

A

B

C

Step 4. Take the other end of your bracelet and pass the main thread through a tag, through the smaller hole. Thread back into your beads. Pull the thread to bring the tag up close to your beads. (C) Step 5. Repeat the process of threading through the bracelet and knotting at intervals along the way. If your two threads meet, you can knot them together and continue to weave them into the design to be hidden. To make your double strand bracelet, start with a length measuring approx. 20" and thread your heart clasp to the halfway point. (D) Thread beads onto each side of the thread and add a silver spacer bead onto both threads to bring them together. Pass both threads through a tag and weave them back into the design, knotting along the way to secure. (E)
