WHERE DO I CALL FOR MORE INFORMATION?
COVID-19
CITY OF BEAUMONT RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS
For more information on fitness, community programs, drop in sports, childminding and aquatics please call 780.929.7946.
The health, safety and well-being of our residents, staff and visitors is our city’s priority. We have implemented a number of health and safety measures in order to respond to COVID-19 based on Government of Alberta standards.
For more information on FCSS programs please call 780.929.1006. For more information on Library programs and events please call 780.929.2665. AM I REGISTERED? Please proceed to the first class. You will NOT be contacted before the first class unless the program is cancelled, postponed or there is a change to the program. WAITING LIST Waiting lists are taken for all programs. If demand is sufficient and appropriate time, space, and instructors are available, classes will be added. You will only be contacted if space becomes available or if any additional course is offered. If the child is under the required age at the time of registration and will be of age within the duration of the course, they are advised to contact the Community Programmer a week prior to the course start date for availability and registration if space is available. The Community Programmer will consult with instructors regarding enrollment of underage participants.
We continue to ask the community and our employees to practise healthy hygiene habits and physical distancing (maintaining an appropriate distance from others) to prevent the spread of germs, including: • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds • Stay home if you are sick • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands • Do not share water bottles or similar containers • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash • Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces and objects Physical distancing is a term that refers to a conscious effort to reduce close contact between people and hopefully reduce community transmission of the virus. Practise physical distancing in all public situations as this plays an important role in minimizing the spread of the virus. This means staying at least two metres (six feet) away from other people.
PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL POLICY No refund if less than 7 days before the course start date and time. Refundable if 7 days before the course start date and time, minus the administration fee. BSRC AQUATIC PROGRAMS ADULT & TEEN COMBINED CLASSES
$64.00
All swimming abilities are welcome! In these classes, teens and adults alike will develop water confidence and skills to ensure comfort in and around the water. Depending on skill level, students can work on floats, glides, kicking, jumping into deep water, and treading water. Fitness drills suitable for individual skill levels will increase strength and endurance. For the more advanced adult and teen swimmers, working on lifesaving kicks and swimming strokes with endurance workouts take precedence, as well as activities such as shallow dives, stride entries, compact jumps, underwater swims to recover objects, and underwater somersaults. Let your instructor know the skills you would like to work on. Course

BSRC AQUATIC PROGRAMS
ADAPTED AQUATICS
$96.00 The Red Cross Swim Adapted Aquatics program is for swimmers with special needs. While this program uses the progressions in the Red Cross Swim Preschool and Red Cross Swim Kids Programs, the performance criteria for each level have been broken down into smaller, more manageable progressions to create a positive learning environment and make the success of each swimmer more achievable. The progressions have been created to progress swimmers with special needs slowly and at their own rate. In order to help meet the needs of our adapted aquatics candidates we have changed our inquiry and registration process. Please contact the BSRC Aquatics Team to learn more about the program and the registration process. E-mail: aquatic.programs@beaumont.ab.ca

RPE – Rate of Perceived Exertion is based on a scale of 1-10. Rate of perceived exertion is a measure of effort level. A rating of 1 is rest or extremely light exercise, 2-5 ratings reflect easy-moderate exercise, 6-7 is moderate to hard, and a rating of 8-10 is vigorous exercise.
LOW INTENSITY: RPE: 2-5- classes rated as low intensity typically use low impact movements. You are still comfortable performing exercises while challenging yourself, and you can carry a conversation during class.
30
MODERATE INTENSITY: RPE 6-8 – classes rated as moderate intensity use variations of both high and low impact exercises, also can be dependent on the participant’s preferred modifications. Comfort zones are pushed while you are starting to get short of breath and only maintain brief conversation.
HIGH INTENSITY: RPE 8-10 – classes rated as high intensity use variations of both high and low impact exercises reaching very difficult to maintain effort levels. This effort level will make you unable to maintain conversation, and leave you out of breath while pushing your limits!

COVID-19 INFORMATION FOR ALBERTANS
PREVENT THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS
You can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Alberta. Prevention starts with awareness.
Practice physical distancing Self-isolate if you’re feeling sick Wash your hands frequently Cover coughs and sneezes Avoid touching your face Do not travel outside of Canada
PRACTICE PHYSICAL DISTANCING All Albertans have a responsibility to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Take steps to protect yourself and others:
Limit the number of times you leave your home Stay at least 2 meters away from others when you go out for groceries, medical trips, and other essential needs Have groceries or other items delivered if possible If you go outside for fresh air maintain 2 meters distance from others Avoid overcrowding in elevators and other enclosed spaces Wash your hands after touching communal surfaces such as handrails, handles Postpone family visits, friend gatherings, and group outings, especially if household or family members are senior citizens or have high-risk medical conditions Do not gather with other people if you have a fever or a cough, even if symptoms appear to be mild. Obey all mandatory self-isolation requirements and mass gathering restrictions now in place in Alberta.
Legally enforceable public health measures are in place to limit the time Albertans spend in contact with each other. Anyone violating these restrictions is now subject to fines.
