HELLO
Countdown to the end of 2020. I never thought I would be so happy to see one year end. I think a lot of us are feeling this way about 2020. So many unexpected things took place this year. Even though I am looking forward to a brand new year, a part of me wonders if all this craziness is going to end just because we are leaving one year and entering another?! That is not normally how life works. I for one do not want to live in a state of fear about the future though. I want to live empowered in the moment and do what I can to help others along the way. What goals did you have for yourself this year that did not come true? Of those goals, which ones can you transform to prepare you for next year? I encourage you not to give up on your dreams and goals just because life around us is changing. Good things are still happening everyday because people are still working towards the things that bring them joy and are still empowering others along the way. I hope this month is the best yet for 2020 for us all. Love you and keep you in my prayers!

Karissa Hagemeister-Irani is on a life long journey to share love, beauty and truth with the world. She enjoys modeling, acting and singing. She has her own fashion line and in July of 2016, Karissa published her first book. Her future plans are to revamp the fashion & entertainment industry with the love, truth and beauty through both her fashion business and Beautiful & Dauntless magazine. Editor-in-Chief of the Dauntless section of the magazine, Arman Irani, married Karissa in June of 2019.

Arman Irani is just another fellow human. He’s admittedly a little bit nerdy. How nerdy? Well, he just received a Bachelors degree in Nanotechnology. Arman loves working out, cooking healthy, dressing up, traveling and he’s also a bit of a gamer. He has no qualms with moving in faith to new destinations and embarking on new adventures in life (as the phrase goes, you only live once!). When it comes down to it, Arman believes life is short and hopes that you become inspired and believe in yourself to do the things that you want in this life and follow your calling.

Arnette German is a native of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. She took her leap of faith and finally decided to yield to her passion for fashion by enrolling in the online Graduate Program of Fashion Journalism at Academy Art University in San Francisco, California. No stranger to the stage, Arnette is a member of the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota, Florida. Presently calling Bradenton, Florida home, Arnette spends her free time either volunteering at her local church and spending time with friends and family, especially her best friend. Arnette is a foodie and a lover of nature and the arts. Life is definitely, in some shape or form and fashion, being lived to the fullest.

Xiomara Montalvo is a 21 year old graphic designer and visual artist that lives and breathes all things artistic. She has lived in Florida half of her life but is originally from Michigan.
Xiomara has a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from Southeastern University with a concentration in Digital Imaging. Visual Storytelling has always been a passion of hers. To be able to bring life to the imagination is what motivates her to design.

Throughout life, we will find ourselves at unavoidable, trying, yet, defining times where we’re at a breaking point, seeming as if there is nothing left in us to push an expected outcome into existence. Be it a project, vision and/or goal…anything…you’ve diligently remained committed to and tirelessly worked at…but…ah…for…some…reason…ehhh…it…ugh… just…doesn’t…grunt…seems…to…umph…turn. It is at these critical and decisive moments that waving the white flag and surrendering is very enticing, appearing as the only answer…the best answer. But, is it? Could the sole option simply have materialized because it was the quickest, easiest and most relaxed “easy go to” alternative? Well, the next time you find yourself at another crossroad, utilize one of the many power scriptures that will facilitate you as a Midwife, assisting you with your pushing to deliver your healthy and robust I Am = I Can!

For the believer, there are multiple empowerment algorithms or equations giving them access to an unlimited supply of authority to achieve whatever we-ourselves, others or society deems as unreachable. “Impossible!” “Can’t.” “Not now.” “WILL NEVER HAPPEN!” “See-I told you so.” “When it blows up in your face don’t come running back to me.” “You’re just wasting your time!” “You’re still working on that?!?” Disappointingly, these thoughts and/ or comments, at some point, subconsciously infiltrated into our minds making giving up seem on target and just…right. But, it is through one’s faith and belief in I Am that equates into him or her saying, “I Can!” I Am = I Can is discovered in Philippians 4:13 KJV, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me;” deeming that nothing is impossible, too hard or unattainable for you because I Am is in the midst. When I Am has secured residency in your being; inevitably, IMPOSSIBLE is now POSSIBLE. NOT NOW is eradicated and instantaneously becomes NOW. Additionally, NOT WORTH IT seamlessly turns into WORTH IT. Furthermore, most importantly, I CAN’T evolves and materializes into I CAN! Simply put, having Christ in your life, fighting for you and working on your behalf… placing your faith in Him, readily causes Him to apply the loving and powerful identification to His own…His children…everyday…I Am = I Can. After all, He came so You could Be.

By Karissa Hagemeister-Irani If 2020 has taught us one thing is that we cannot control anything and we are not in control of anything. I think we have all gotten a glimpse of how small and powerless we are as a people. There is nothing like a crazy, ridiculous virus to put us in our place not only as a nation but as a world. At the same time, this year we also have the presidential elections going on in the United States of America. Thankfully, as of this moment, we are still given the right and the power to vote. Our country is still a democracy. It is in danger of becoming socialist, though. That could rip the powers and rights from under our feet and leave us in the worst scenario that we could ever dream up. Despite feeling small, we should still feel empowered that the fate of our country rests in our hands. If you are of voting age, please take the time to understand what the election is really about. Really search out and see the true character and motives of the candidates. Ask yourself, do I want to be controlled by the government? Do I want my rights taken away? Or do I want to live a good life where I can choose what food I eat, where I live, and who I vote for? Right now, we hold that power but if one party moves into office in this election, it could all be gone in a matter of months. That is why I ask you to research what the parties are moving towards. This is more than just politics. This is your immediate future. And it is in your hands.

This is not what I was planning on sharing this month but I felt compelled to because of the crucial importance of this election. No matter what happens with this election, no matter if you live in the states or not, as a believer we can all feel empowered knowing that the Spirit of God lives inside of us. He will be with us, helping and guiding us through each situation. He will give us the words to speak, and the strength to press on. Philippians 4:13 says that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.� This means that whatever we are facing or will face in the times to come, God will help us through it. God is the giver of all good things. He does not want his children sick or begging for bread. He wants to see us prosper in the place that he has called us to in this world. Be empowered in Christ and who he has called you to be. He calls you child, beloved, a masterpiece and he loves you unconditionally. Though the world is always changing around us and in most ways it is not changing for the good, we know that God never changes. He is constant and stable. I for one need something stable in my life, especially after this crazy year that we have had. I thank God that I do not have to rely upon myself or my own strength. I can rely on God, he gives me the strength that I need. You can do the same. Be empowered in Christ and go to God to find strength.

Your Mama’s Sweet Potato Casserole 4 sweet potatoes peeled and cut into cubes ½ cup brown sugar 1 cup butter softened ½ teaspoon vanilla extract ¾ cup pecans chopped, divided ¼ teaspoon cinnamon or to taste salt and pepper to taste 2 cups of mini marshmallows

Instructions: 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9 x 13 pan. 2. Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a pot of boiling water. 3. Simmer for 15 minutes or until soft. Drain the water. 4. In a large bowl, mash the sweet potatoes with brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, vanilla and salt & pepper. 5. Add half the pecans and spread into the 9x13 pan. 6. Sprinkle with the marshmallows and the remaining pecans. 7. Bake for 25 minutes or until marshmallows are golden brown and potatoes are heated through.

Pumpkin Protein Shake 1 scoop of preferred protein powder 1 cup of almond milk 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree 1 dollop of whipped cream A Dash of cinnamon Blend the protein powder, almond milk and pumpkin puree together. Once well blended, add the whipped cream on top and sprinkle the cinnamon lightly.

Lemon Parm Brussel Sprouts Ingredients 2 cups of brussels sprouts 2 Tbsp of extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste Lemon Parmesan seasoning 1 tablespoon lemon juice, plus 2 teaspoons zest 1/4 cup shaved Parmesan cheese 1 tablespoon of thyme pinch of red pepper flakes Instructions Preheat the oven to 425° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the brussels sprouts in half, toss with olive oil and salt and pepper. Spread the mixture on the baking sheet. Roast for 30 to 40 minutes or until tender and golden brown around the edges. Toss the roasted brussels sprouts with the lemon juice, zest, Parmesan, and thyme leaves. Garnish with red pepper flakes.

Empowered With God’s Power By Arman Irani What a year we have had! 2020 has been no joke, but we are blessed to have endured through it and are still standing. It’s such a lovely thing to be a child of God and him giving us the holy spirit to help us in this life. I understand many of you may be asking me, “Hey man…. What are you on? Have you not watched the news!? Look at all the craziness going on in the world.” Jesus did tell us in the end times the world would be nuts, so why are we acting surprised about it? The sooner you realize the Bible is the TRUTH the faster and easier you can enjoy your life here and forever more in the kingdom of the Lord. God did not make us weaklings; he has empowered us as men to be strong. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” (Philippians 4:13 KJV). What an amazing thing to remember. Last night for the first time I saw The Prince of Egypt on Hulu.. After seeing the story of Exodus played out again it just reminded me of how empowered we all can be. We can be bold in our actions and our ways of living as Christian men even in a fallen world. Moses stood up for what he knew in his heart was the right thing to do with the help of God and the Holy Spirit. You and I have also been placed in our positions in life to be smart. “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” (Matt 10:16 KJV). Stay empowered via the Scripture daily. Don’t be afraid to stay on the narrow path for that leads to life. I’d just like to encourage you to remember that all the great men of the Bible faced hardships of varying degrees but the ones that are remembered and written about all acted with the boldness that God has placed inside them. Many like Pharaoh were and are present day stubborn even after the multitude of signs that he witnessed. God knows our life and the plans he has in store for us. We are not a mistake. We are chosen to be his. He knows us and loves us… continue 2020 with a positive outlook on life, see the Lord’s hand on your situations and continue to praise and thank him for all he is doing. May you men be blessed and continue to follow the word of the Lord in your day to day battles in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

HELLO
DAUN LESS This life is crazy! All of us are in a rat race trying to get things situated just to get close and the bait continues to move forward.. Seems like only those that are doing the “wrong” things seem to get ahead nowadays. The great thing though is that all of that won’t matter when Jesus comes back nor will it matter in Heaven. Remember to store your riches in Heaven and not here on earth. I always used to get confused with that and how to interpret it. I have learned over the past few months a little better what that means to me. Health is wealth…. Let me repeat that: health is wealth.. Don’t take the time you have for granted and especially not how you take care of the temple God has given us. Exercise it, feed it right, feed it Scripture and give it fresh air… take care of you and live a life full of joy, peace, love and serenity. You definitely don’t need to be a hippie or all zen like.. But my advice is to not chase the things the world chases after, to be happy with what you already have and to be open to the Lord directing your life. Take away your stresses, anxieties and give them to the Lord. Cast your cares and worries upon him for he loves you. Read the Bible, learn new things daily, let the Lord speak to you… stay humble and silent until it’s your time to speak up. Our God, Elohiem, knows the timing of all things and will be your fortress whenever you need it.
