DAUN LESS At the end of last month I celebrated my 34 birthday. I love birthdays because they are such a beautiful reminder of life.

I had taken advantage of my life for so many years, despising it and even hating it.

But then God was able to change my perspective. No, my life has not been perfect and most of it has been very difficult. But I am thankful for my life. I know it leaves an impact on so many others.

Most of all, I know and can see where God has been with me through all the years, tears, pain and especially in the joy.

I pray you take a minute to be grateful for your life, no matter the season you are in. It is a gift. #bringingbeautifulback #dauntlessstrong

God, I get it now!

Thank you for giving me a strong bounce back game this season! I’m grateful that you permitted me to “put to test” my maturity in my faith, understanding and knowledge of you. I realized this go’ round these tests were to “locate” any remaining crutches to be removed permanently and to solidify my faith. I get it now! These “sensors” were never meant to nor designed to force my hand to quit but to accept the process to bounce back…hard! I get it now!

I get it now! When trying to “adjust” in not dealing with the “frustrations” after taking my leap of faith after being obedient by not returning to work with nothing else in line (unheard of right?) after recuperating from surgery; seemingly, immediately, everything but sunshine came. Knowing I followed your directive, I firmly held on to the word given, “you will land on your feet-you will bounce back!” I have done just that. You made good on a prior word given six years ago that where I am now fully employed (which has always been a heart’s desire) is where you would circle me back to-as I am not only an asset but a pillar to the organization to be exact. Thank you! I get in now!

I get it now! These challenges created the opportune time for me to experience your sensitivity and sovereignty exposing your genuine love and regard for me. Though it “felt” like I did not hear you correctly and sometimes wanting to question whether I did and where you were as the challenges manifested into storms; I held on for dear life to the word spoken before taking my plunge. Realized soon you were always there-walking beside me, keeping me and sustaining me.

I get it now! The true test was believing it was even meant for me to jump…be all the way in! You care about Arnette. Thank you for building Arnette. It did not always feel good. However, for me to see myself as you see me and to obtain what you have for me…the day would come when my customized and tailored made challenges would present themselves to prove if I authentically regarded you for who I proclaimed you to be. I get it now!

I get it now! Diamonds are created under immense pressure. Having learned years ago that you do not waste a good storm (challenge)…so if a storm (challenge) is coming…refining is coming.

Value increased. We are not alone. If it seems like we are, you are still present. Progress is still being made even if it seems it is obsolete during the weathering of the storm (challenge). Just continue to hold on to the word(s) pronounced for you possess the power and authority to speak to the waves (challenges) and calm them-as you ARE the Prince of Peace and the best place to be during a storm (challenge) is in your presence! I get it now and I am incredibly happy that I do.

The Rules of Fashion

As kids are getting ready to go back to school, they are going to be presented

with classroom rules set up by their new teachers. I always remember the start of a new school year and being anxious about what the new rules will be.

As adults we still have rules to live by - the Commandments for one, work rules, driving rules, … and the list goes on. Did you know there are also fashion rules?

These we never really get taught unless we happen to take fashion classes. But I am here to direct you on what rules are solid in fashion and on which ones you can slide past. I will not be able to touch on all of them in this article but if you enjoy reading this, let me know and I will put together more for you.

Let’s start with the rules that are not so much rules anymore:

1.

You can’t wear white after labor day This rule no longer applies. You can wear white all year round and most people do. Don’t start fretting when September rolls around thinking you have to put all of your white clothes away. People do tend to wear white more in the summer time because it does not attract the heat from the sun the way darker colors do.

However, neutral colors (including white) is an actual style that many minimalists wear.

2. Leopard print is for fall Fall used to be the most popular time to wear leopard print but it has now grown to be a print that people wear year round. I for one am so happy about that. Leopard print is one of my favorite prints to wear. (No I do not wear actual leopards or their coats). Don’t be afraid of fun prints like this either. You do not need to have a special style to be able to rock animal prints. It looks great on everyone.

1. Socks and Flip Flops Do not let anyone tell you that it is ever okay to wear socks with your flip flops.

If your feet are cold and you need to wear socks, wear tennis shoes with it. Flip flops and sandals are made for your bare feet.

2. Skin colored leggings It is not appropriate to wear skin colored leggings, unless you have a dress or skirt on with them. If you are using them as pants, stop.

3. Matching accessories Let’s take a few minutes to delve into accessories. It is completely fine to match accessories with your clothing. So if you are wearing a blue shirt, you can wear a blue necklace as well. However, it is a little more fun and shows a little more class when you use complimentary colors instead. So instead of wear a blue necklace, wear a yellow, green or orange necklace. All of these colors compliment blue nicely. They will make your outfit pop a little more.

4. Confidence is key The best way to rock your outfit and really feel like you own it, is to be confident in what you buy and what you wear. If you are not confident about it in the store, put it down. If you love it and it makes you feel like a million bucks, then wear it like it makes you feel that way. As long as you have confidence, you can make anything look good.

Chocolate Blueberry Cookies Ingredients: 3/4 cup of blueberries

1 stick of unsalted butter 1/2 cup of brown sugar 1/2 cup of white sugar

1large egg (room temperature) ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup of flour (gluten free all purpose)

½ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt

1 cup of chocolate chips Directions: Melt the butter and mix both sugars into it. Then, add the egg and vanilla extract.

Add the flour, salt, and baking soda in a seperate bowl. Then add blueberries and chopped dark chocolate and gently fold until evenly dispersed.

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Arrange cookies on lined sheet pan with about 2-3” between them. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until edges are browned and tops have mostly set.
