letter from the EDITOR
Hello
BEAUTIFUL & DAUNTLESS,
Happy new year!! It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone. As 2017 closes, I hope you are able to reflect on the highlights and low levels of the past year. Think about what you were able to accomplish and what you are still working on. Before you fully dive into 2018, examine the direction that your life is headed and make sure that is going in the direction that you want it to be. If it is not, layout the steps that you need to take to get you there and begin working on it immediately. I love the start of new years. It gives me the opportunity to shed off the pain and mistakes of the year past and embrace a new chance to start again. Whatever happened in 2017, it is over. Look ahead to 2018 with anticipation and excitement. Many great things await you. XOXO,
Karissa Hagemeister 2

live to the
ULLEST 11
Each new year is a chance to start over or start anew. It could be to start a new exercise regime, to start a new business, start a new relationship or a new chapter in your life. Here is your chance to start over or start new ... from scratch. The greatest part about this new year, 2018, is the meaning behind the year. Numbers have special meanings behind them. 2018 just happens to mean living life to the fullest. It means to let go of those things that are holding you back. Move past the distractions, the entrapments and run full force, straight ahead to the life that you have been dreaming of. This is the year for you to live as YOU!!
12
2
Here is your chance to start over!!!
2018 13
I encourage you to think about several things as you jump head first into the new year: 1. How do you envision your life (or the life you are longing to live)? My visions and dreams for my life include living the busy life in New York City. Taking this magazine and my fashion business to an even greater potential. Growing in relationship with the amazing man of my dreams. Modeling and acting all over the world and being my own boss.
14
2
The exciting thing about my dreams is that I have been working towards them for so long, that I am actually able to jump head first into them this year. I am moving to New York first thing this year. The magazine and my business have taken a turn for the best. I am in a great relationship, with the sweetest man I have ever met. And I have been given the opportunity to be my own boss, while navigating the entertainment world.
2018 How do you envision your life (or the life you are longing to live)? 15
What has been holding you back from living that life?
16
2. What has been holding you back from living that life? Most of the time, the answer to that question is myself. It was for me as well. I have had the potential within me to do all those things that I have been dreaming of doing. But I did not believe in myself and I was so afraid to fail. Once I was able to see these distractions and the things that were holding me back, I took action on moving past the fears and falling head first into what my heart desires the most. It is terrifying but it is time. 2018 is the year to move past the distractions and jump head first into your full life.
17
3. What can you do to move past those things that are holding you back and live to the fullest? Honestly, it is all in your mind. It is time for all of us to take a mental shift and move forward. The mind is a difficult thing to change but it is of utmost importance to change your thinking if you want to change your life at all. Take some time this new year to think about those three questions. Make some changes for the best in your own life and do not be afraid to live your life to the fullest in 2018. This is the whole reason for this year.

The new year is the perfect time to try something new with your diet. Most people view food as the thing that they live for but we need to focus more on eating food to keep us alive. Our body needs certain vitamins, minerals and nutrients that we can get from veggies and fruit. Put away the processed garbage and eat up on the fresh goodness.

Challenge 31
As #theBeautyRevolution has been sweeping across the globe over the past month, we have been working on ways to make this movement a reality for many. We put our heads together and came up with the Beauty Challenge. What better time to start a challenge or change your mindset then at the beginning of the year. The Beauty Challenge will be a week long (7 days) with a new challenge for each day. The only way the challenge will work is if you do each challenge for each day and work at it all day long. Some of the steps will be helpful if you continue to carry them on through to the next day and the next. Once the challenge is over, there is a BONUS day. If you have completed the whole seven day challenge, you can do the bonus day. Start the challenge whenever you are ready. The best way to keep yourself on board the #thebeautyrevolution movement is to keep up with the different steps that the challenge brings you and carry them through the entire year. You will be amazed at how you view yourself now and how you do by the end of 2018. Watch out world, Beautiful is coming back!!

You are beautiful. It is about time that we each begin to look in the mirror and accept or beauty. It is about time that we each begin to realize that we are beautiful. You are beautiful. Your mother is beautiful. Your friends are beautiful. It’s not a competition, never was and never can be. We cannot change who we were made to be. Accept your beauty. Accept yourself.
#theBeautyR 34
THE BEAUTY CHALLENGE: Day 1: Tear down the pictures you have hanging up of all the women that you envy to be. Day 2: Look in the mirror and refuse to thoroughly examine your flaws. Day 3: Look in the mirror and admire the parts of you that are most striking. Day 4: Tell yourself, in the mirror, "I am BEAUTIFUL, " over and over again until you believe it. Day 5: Tell your friends that they are beautiful and tell them why. Day 6: Once you have accepted your beauty, start sharing the revolution to every woman in your life via social media. Tyler is a proud Minnesotan who has lived in the Twin Cities Area his entire life. Acting has always been an hobby of his, and he is very excited to pursue it wholeheartedly as he continues his education studying acting for film at the New York Film Academy, LA Campus. One of his favorite ways to practice or memorize lines is by performing for his family’s pet parrot, Rio. His favorite types of roles to play are ones where his character is friendly and uplifting, though he has played his share of darker roles which he says can be “oddly therapeutic,” so long as the character he’s playing is well written and allows the audience to feel and ponder the human condition. He dreams of one day becoming a Hollywood actor who shows his love for Jesus in the ways he interacts with others, whether it be on or off set. 46

What A G One question that guys ask me on a regular basis is, What do girls want? Men think that the answer is: girls do not know what they want, but secretly we do. Well, girls want a lot of things. However, I know the question is related more to what we want from you. So, here is the answer from one girls perspective. 1. Stay One of the biggest things we are looking for is a man that is going to stay. We do not want some guy that chases every skirt that walks past. We do not want someone who is here today and gone tomorrow. Stick around. We know we are crazy, but we need to know that you are not going to jump ship when things get a little scary. 2. Security We want to feel safe with you. Plain and simple. Are you going to protect us? Do you wrap yours around us when we are cold or crying? If you can make us feel safe, you have got us for sure.

3. Sweet When we say, “He is such a sweetie, that is actually a good thing. Obviously there needs to be a little balance in the sweetness department. Too sweet is not good but if you are not sweet to us at all, forget it. Treat us, pamper us and say sweet things to us. We will return the favor. Those are three biggies for women when we are looking for a man. If we find one that can do all three of those things, we know we have found a keeper. We are honestly not that hard to understand or that complicated. But this is coming from a female. Take these three pieces of advice and use them when you find that one special lady that you really connect with. I wish you the best. By Karissa Hagemeister

2018’s
premise for the Bringing Beautiful Back Family is boldly and “forcibly” doing away with what is not allowing one to be their authentic self to effectively Live. French Fashion Designer, Coco Chanel attractively puts it this way, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening”. So I ask-by your life...being the mirror...what is your Fashion…how is it designed…what and who is tailoring it? Throughout the course of one’s life, Life will inevitably throw some mean curveballs that often leaves one in a stupor. Resulting in one questioning himself/herself tirelessly over their Purpose, dream(s), morals and/or value(s). But, it is during these difficult, yet, imitate and delicate moments, the most common inquiry reflected on the most is their existence---wanting to know who he/she truly is. Again, lending to this conversation Coco wisely points outs that “hard times arouse an instinctive desire for authenticity”. And as one is experiencing an Existential moment as this…seeking out the genuine you…it can very well be that “hard time” Chanel is referencing to. Yet, in a compassionate tone, Pastor Don E. German elegantly asks you in his recently released motivational book, “Who Are You-Reclaiming Your Identity In Christ”. 66
“The Inspiration for the cover is found in James 1:22-25. A mirror shows us the spots and blemishes on our faces. Now we can wash them off or treat the problem. God’s word shows us our sins, so that we may repent and have them pardoned. God’s word is the believers’ mirror. We don’t want to forget what we saw in the miror. As we continue to look and hear His word and be a doer of the Word then we will be blessed.”
67
Q
What was your inspiration for writing this book and how did it lend to birthing both the title and premise of your book? In 2001, while in active duty in Germany, the Lord gave me instructions to rewatch the Lion King. And upon watching it, I realized there was a plethora of spiritual applications present throughout the story. Simba, a lion cub, heir of his father’s throne (upon birth) inevitably removed Scar (his uncle-who was next in line to be king) into an instant envious rage in seeking out ways to maneuver Simba “out of line”. Simba not truly “knowing” who he is, runs away from home per his uncle’s instruction due to the guilt of being responsible for father’s death (Mustafa-the king); who on the back end was intentionally killed in an orchestrated stampede per Scar. Upon leaving, he befriends (what he normally hunted) and eats as they-bugs…not as a king. Due to the foolish and unwise ruling of Scar…no more food is in Simba’s homeland and Scar sends Nyla out in search for food. And in her seeking, she is reacquainted with her childhood friend Simba. And after realizing it is him after he says her name, she asks “Who Are You?” and when he identifies himself again…still in bewilderment she asks the question again…later saying they thought he was 68

Q
Give 3 adjectives that describes Who You Are. 3 keys needed to Reclaiming Your Identity In Christ. 3 jewels that readers will take away and gain from having read your book. Integrity, Passionate and Faithful are the 3 adjectives that describe me. I have no desire to pull one over on people or swindle people but I strive to be true and authentic in every way and in everything that I do. I’m very passionate about being a Man of God, Teaching (Middle school and Church) and that whatever I place my hands to do, I give my best and that my heart can be seen because as a member of my congregation mentioned we are living and breathing representations of God-to do things just like God. And most importantly, being faithful to God, Family and Church. More so, 3 important keys to Reclaiming Your Identity In Christ is being determined in your heart to develop, maintain and carry on a relationship with Christ i.e. talking to him and spending time with him. If we take care of our vertical relationship with Him then the horizontal relationships we have will be taken cared of by Him. Not saying we won’t run into problems but He will help us solve them. ABOUT DAUNTLESS The second half of this magazine is now being taken over by guys, for guys. Since the creation of this magazine, January 2017, we have excelled at offering real life stories, advice and insight into daily matters. Our writers share what is on their heart in order to bring some life to your current situation. Up to this point, much of the material has been more “lady focused” but we hate to leave out our male counterparts, as they need special rays of light to impact their life as well. In May 2017, after receiving much feedback from males asking for more content geared towards them, our wheels started turning. We came up with the idea of having the dual magazine, but we need a name. After conducting a poll on social media, we were given some insight as to what a guy might prefer to be thought of as, and DAUNTLESS was the winner. Below are a few of the reasons as to why Dauntless is now the name of the second half of our e-mag. So, gentlemen, as you are reading, think of yourself in these terms:
“Dauntless means, ‘I am BOLD, COURAGEOUS, and GALLANT. Which trumps all other choices. IMHO.” - Larry “Dauntless for sure. Dauntless means, ‘Showing FEARLESSNESS and DETERMINATION.’ That is how I would like to be defined.” - Arman
