WHY T H E HAI R DE SIGN SCH OOL?
NAIL PROPORTION
NAIL SHAPES
Proportion is utilized in the construction of nail enhancements and/or maintenance of any natural nail. Proportion is the direct correlation of size, distance, amount and ratio between the individual characteristics when compared to the whole. Whether deciding on a length or shape for nails or creating a nail enhancement, the proper ratio will create beauty and balance. Exceptions to this rule are your Guest’s lifestyles, working conditions or special occasions, where an extreme nail art design may be desired.
A design element consists of multiple traveling lines connected together. This same element applies to nail shapes. The nail shape is either formed naturally with a manicure or artificially through a nail enhancement. Always discuss the desired nail shape with your Guest prior to beginning the nail service. Provide great Guest service by being a good listener and giving your Guest the results they requested.
RATIO OF 2/3 FOR NAIL LENGTH
Nail Care
Nail Care
The Clic Textbook(s) you receive vary per location.
When choosing a nail length, it is best to think of the nail in 3 segments. The ideal proportion of the nail plate should be 2/3 of the entire nail, and the free edge should be 1/3. This creates a balanced appearance and provides strength and durability to the nails. As a licensed professional, you help to provide your Guest with the proportionate nail length, whether creating artificial nails or encouraging daily treatments to enhance the natural nail. Short nails may help balance very long fingers and long nails can provide a lengthy appearance to short fingers. Wide fingers may be balanced by creating oval or pointed shape fingernails. A square or squoval nail shape can provide the illusion of width to narrow fingers.
INTERESTING FACT: To properly shape and/or file nails, always file starting at left corner, sliding the file straight out to the center of the nail; then perform the same procedure on the right side corner towards the center of the nail. Never use a ‘sawing’ motion (pulling back and forth with file).

NATURAL HAIR IMPLANTATION AND DENSITY Hair is implanted at different angles to represent how it would grow naturally on a human head. Density also varies in different areas on a CLiC mannequin. As a result, the hair reacts to styling in a more natural way.
EYELASHES & MAKEUP Realistic eyelashes and high-fashion makeup add a special finishing touch when you work on a CLiC mannequin.
NATURAL CUTICLE ALIGNMENT BENDABLE EARS Another unique feature that makes CLiC mannequins easier to use is their life-like ears.
Each hair is aligned with the cuticle in the same direction, mimicking the qualities of a natural head of hair. This creates a smooth look with extra durability under styling stress.
