is always a time for you to t r u ly re l a x a nd unwind. The atmosphere is certainly more low-key over these next few months (with the exception of j unior summer camps!) and with humidity at 90% and temperatures hovering right about that same number, it can be hard to pick up momentum. However, your Club management and staff have not lost their momentum; we are busy working on projects that will improve your club experiences! One project that everyone has been working on is online reservations. You will no longer have to call the Club to make your reservations/bookings because you’ll soon also have the option of making dining and special event reservations, tee time reservations, and all golf/tennis lessons and clinic reservations ONLINE! Your phone calls are still welcome, but we hope to make your life easier by offering online services as well. You can simply make a reservation on the club website via the app on your smart phone (all you have to do is log-in to the club website on your phone and the app will appear) or

via any computer or tablet device. One of the greatest features of the online reservation system is the ability for you to see who else is playing golf the day you are looking to play, who else is already signed up for an upcoming social event or clinic, etc., so that you can join in with friends and/or invite those who haven’t yet made a reservation but who you know would enjoy attending an event or playing golf with you. Another benefit is that when you are booking a lesson online, you’ll be able to see all of the lesson times that are available to you so that you can then determine when you would like to book your lesson. We hope to “go live” with the reservation system in July, if not sooner. We will certainly let you know when you can start making online reservations! As with anything that is new, it will take us some time to work out the kinks in the system, so we encourage you to look out for the announcement of this new feature and to book a reservation online at that time so that you can provide constructive feedback that will help us to make the process as seamless and easy as possible for you. We look forward to seeing you make your reservations online! C O R A L R I D G E C O U N T RY C L U B

Club Event Reservation Policy

Jennifer Kelsey and her father Steve Kelsey

Drew & Tatiana Devens ➤

Special club events, wine dinners, Saturday night seafood buffets and holiday dining are popular events that sell out and require the purchase of special food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc. Last minute un-replaced cancellations (including changes to the party number) are unfair to those Members who are turned away due to full capacity and cause the Club to incur unnecessary expenses if the reservation is not replaced. As a result, the Club must exercise a firm enforcement of the special event and holiday dining policy. • At the time of making your reservation we will charge your account 100% of the event price. • Please let us know if you have other Members dining with you, so we may contact them. • You may cancel 7 days prior to event, without being charged. • If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the event, you will have to pay 100% of the event price. Note: Should there be a wait list and we are able to fill your reservation less than 6 days prior to the event, your account will be credited in full.

Aerifying Fairways – this is done to loosen soil that has become compacted by cart, equipment and foot traffic, opening up growing room for the roots and increasing oxygen to the roots. This helps water infiltration and makes them firmer. Aerifying Greens – promotes healthy turf growth. A machine, known as an Aerifier, removes 3 to 5 inch long cores of turf and soil. The removal of cores allows water, air and nutrients from the top-dressing to reach the soil roots, thereby enhancing growth. GOLF GOLF TIP

PUTTING: Leaderboard Results

You should know “Y”

Check the Golf Shop & Locker Room bulletin boards for summer event results, news and course maintenance updates. This leaderboard section of the newsletter will resume at the start of the 2012 - 2013 season in October.

– Jimmy Rockelman, PGA Lead Instructor

With the summer rain and high temperatures your practice time may be limited, so get your a stroke in order with a little indoor practice. Spend some time working on your stroke in front of a mirror. Place the ball in the middle of your stance, so that the club’s shaft is vertical and the clubface is pointing where you want the ball to start (not finish, because 90% of all putts curve to some degree). Turn and face the mirror in a down the line view and place your shoulders, hips, knees and feet parallel to the intended target line. Now feel and imagine your two arms and the club shaft forming the capital letter “Y” in the mirror. Swing back and forth attempting to create a backswing and forward swing of EQUAL size and length (like a pendulum), and keep your “Y” intact until the end of the stroke. With only a few minutes a day in front of the mirror practicing your “Y,” you can get a jump start to success on the greens and enjoy shooting lower scores.

C LU B EV E N T R E S E RVAT I O N P O L I C Y Special club events, wine dinners, Saturday night seafood buffets and holiday dining are popular events that sell out and require the purchase of special food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc.
