VARINA & KADE Tactile, whimsical, Frenchy, old-world, jazzy, feathery, soft, romantic, silky, velvety, intricate, glimmering and heirloom are just a few of the ways we would describe this stunningly unique wedding so delicately and wistfully captured by Lara Hotz Photography. Varina, the talented creative professional behind Blight St. Bistro, planned the wedding of their dreams herself drawing on traditions and whimsy. The ceremony was intimate and romantic, combining special vows and traditional customs with new wedding traditions like a secret spell ceremony, complete with bespoke hats and ribbon wands, where their friends were called under the chuppah to cast spells over their relationship. Having close friends as such an integral part of the ceremony for the couple was very special, Kade’s best man was the celebrant and Varina’s best man was the master of spells. The colour palette was drawn directly from special pieces the couple had collected from overseas and ranged from pale French blues to rich royal blues right through to deep raspberry pinks and a touch of delicate soft rose. The couple chose Audley Dance Hall as the spot for their magical wedding with the wild and carefree blooms created by the talented Alice Beasley. Each arrangement was different, and it created the most magical display right throughout the wedding. KAT & JAMES Have you ever wondered what it would be like to take a trip to wonderland? Look no further because this sensational wedding, captured in all its glory by the talented team at Hilary Cam Photography has it all! Overflowing with whimsical artefacts, intriguing antiques and a collection of taxidermy, the images will transport you to what feels like an 18th-century French version of the tale of Alice in Wonderland. The couple drew inspiration from their romantic proposal in Paris and this French influence was found right throughout their day from the decoupage invitations to the styling of Kat’s unique bridal gown. Kat was also inspired by the film Romeo and Juliet and handmade a pair of angel wings that brought their portrait session to the next level. James and Kat’s intimate ceremony of close friends and family was held inside a florist and antique shop in Redfern and was scattered with eclectic and fascinating objects. The ceremony space was transformed into a whimsical oasis of cascading flowers, and taxidermy with guests being treated to a post-ceremony tea party whilst being entertained by the Magician Neo. The reception was filled with more antiques and raw beautiful styling and can be seen in more detail on our website.

BOTANICA Botanica, as the name suggests, was inspired by the deep green botanicas, dried earthy tones and clean modern whites that is making such a huge statement this wedding season. Working with a colour palette of greys, whites and deep greens, this talented Perth team of creatives layered stunning blooms and greenery over dried foraged layers to create a look that instantly brought to our minds the rejuvenation that comes with the dawn of springtime. Speaking to Amanda of Amanda Afton Photography about the teams shoot she describes how she fell in love with Feld & Co as a location, not only because of the creative freedom it offered as a venue but for its character, existing greenery and proximity to Freemantle as a location that brides could explore for their wedding photoshoots. The passion and dedication of this creative team truly exudes and shines from every aspect of this dramatic urban editorial and with each image left us wanting to see what was around the next corner. KATE & MAYA This modern and contemporary wedding is just filled to the brim with ‘pinnable’ inspiration. Luscious blooms, contemporary details and a bridal style that oozes sophistication will have you reaching for that ‘pin here’ button! Their reception incorporated the traditional polish blessing in honour of Maya’s heritage. The blessing consisted of Maya’s parents welcoming the newlyweds, with salt, bread and two shot glasses. One filled with water, the other with vodka. Each of the newlyweds, then had to pick a glass and the one who picked the vodka is said to ‘rule the marriage’. Kate was pleased to report that she won that one! Kate and Maya met through mutual friends five years ago. Kate recalls talking to Maya in the kitchen and remembering that she could barely speak for thinking how beautiful she was. With timing not being right, it wasn’t until two years later that they met again and became a couple. A proposal followed while, holidaying through the snowy Scottish Highlands. Kate decided to ask Maya to marry her after a magical, relaxing day at a luxe spar in Pitlochry. The couples favourite memories of their special day were of them walking into their venue and standing in front of all their family and friends and saying their vows. Don’t miss seeing the full gallery for all the intimate details of this celebration of true love.

WATTLE WHISPERS An Australian springtime would not be complete without this the large fluffy pom-pom like, sweet-smelling blooms of the golden wattle. A team of Brisbane creatives agreed with us and set about creating a luxe bohemian celebration of a truly Australiana Spring. Inspiration is rife throughout this session with another ‘pinnable’ moment around each corner. Not only does it incorporate the essence of Australian native blooms but, showcases a striking geometric arbour from Studio B. Couture adorned with an array of golden, peach and orange blooms artfully installed by Brisbane master florists Stalks and Stems that literally takes our breath away. An impressive geometric inspired cake steals the show, set amongst one of the cosiest and stylish picnic lounge settings from St. Aisle that we have seen in a long time. Handcrafted three-dimensional finches nestle amongst the wattle adorning this stunning confection by Wild Child Cakes and boldly defies gravity with its unique design. Adorned with rustic antlers, luscious blooms and cut crystal stemware an antique timber table sits nestled atop a luxury cowhide rug creating the perfect atmosphere in this hidden coastal national park. As storm clouds roll in and the sun sinks, the rays of fading light glint and glimmer across the stunningly beaded tulle gown by Australian designer Luna Willow Bridal and catch in the crystal crown from Queensland accessory specialists Little White Couture. Just in case you haven’t been convinced enough yet, the entire shoot becomes second stage with the adorable addition of Latte one of the most adorable long-haired Chihuahuas we have ever seen. KARLY & CAMERON Attending senior year together, Karly and Cameron began dating on schoolies and after almost ten years together with many missed hints, Karly got tired of waiting for a proposal and decided to propose to Cameron herself. Karly tells us that it was nothing fancy. One night they were hanging out at home and she turned to him and said “so… do you want to get married?” he said yes, and they ordered celebratory pizza and then went and picked out a ring together. Karly and Cameron wanted a Modern Australian themed tradition wedding with classic styling and an abundance of seasonal and native flowers. The florals were by far the couples favourite detail and were a real show stopper, bringing their whole vision together. The combination of native proteas and seasonal blooms with eucalyptus, we agree was simply stunning. When asked about their choice of venue, Karly explains that they had originally planned and booked a different venue, but when Karly attended a work function at Sirromet she fell in love and knew it was the place for them. They immediately cancelled their first venue and rearranged dates, just so they could celebrate their day in the spectacular setting at Sirromet. The couples biggest piece of advice to others planning is to stress less, delegate as much as possible and have as little to do on the day. More from this stunning wedding can be found by following the link to the full gallery on our website.

KRISTEN & JAY On a night out in Brisbane, Jay and Kristen met through mutual friends and quickly fell in love. Kristen was in the middle of moving to Sydney and Jay said he wanted to move as well because she was leaving, and they have been together ever since. Sharing similar birthdays with only one day apart they were out at their favourite restaurant on the night of Kristen’s birthday when he caught her completely by surprise. Kristen asked Jay why he hadn’t complimented her on how she looked that night to which he responded, “you look beautiful, but, you’re just missing one thing” and carried her out onto the boardwalk where he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Laughing she said to him, “so I guess I was missing my engagement ring?” Kristen tell us “we haven’t always been a conventional couple, and funnily enough, eloping to Vegas had been a dream of both of ours for quite some time!” The couple wanted their parents with them, so the elopement became an intimate family elopement. The day went perfectly, and Kristen describes it to be a similar feeling to waking up on Christmas morning when you’re a child! Having her mum there to walk her down the aisle meant the world to Kristen and seeing the emotion on Jay’s face as she walked into the chapel, immediately made her teary and is something that she will never forget. The couples advice to others planning is to always research the companies you’re using to avoid disappointments, and strongly suggests that if you are planning a destination wedding to plan for jet lag by leaving yourself a few days between your arrival and the wedding.

THE SHEARERS SHED This editorial session was created to showcase the splendour of winter combining timeless romantic styling, toasty warm open log fires and lush food This shoot has us wishing that those colder months hadn’t quite disappeared yet. The Shearing Shed, a stunning wedding venue located on the outskirts of Cowes, was originally built in the 1950’s and is steeped with character. The space offers a blank canvas which a team of Melbourne creatives made the most of, to create this stunning editorial feature. Showcasing the best of seasonal blooms and stunning gowns from the Bernadette Pimenta Couture Collection, this property was truly brought to life proving that Winter brides can have just as much fun as the Spring or Summer Bride. CLAUDIA & GREG
Speaking with photographer Lucy from Translucent Photography about capturing Claudia and Greg’s session, she tells us how the change of pace from city life to the blissful carefree antics of farm life was a refreshing change, not only for her as a photographer but for the couple. Lucy loves to reflect the couple in her sessions as much as possible, so for this fun animal loving couple who have their own tribe of animals at home that include; two dogs, four cats, three ferrets and a bird, it made perfect sense for animal and veterinary bioscience student Claudia and her partner Greg to want to have animals as part of their engagement celebrations. Claudia and Greg got in touch with The Woods Farm in Jervis Bay, who welcomed them to the property for their celebration and encouraged cuddles with all the furry residents. This fun, vibrant and heart-warming celebration of love, has it all from Llamas, horses, chickens, cows and the antics of two very inquisitive and playful newly born baby goats. Claudia and Greg are planning their wedding in the Snowy Mountains region at the stunning Lake Crackenback in November and we are looking forward to seeing all the wonderful images from their wedding day, but for now head to the website to see the full gallery from this adorable engagement session.

LINDA & ANTONIO Right from the beginning, Linda and Antonio knew two things; they wanted a beachside wedding and they wanted the floral design to play an important role in their day, as well as honouring important guests who were especially dear to them, with corsages. The floral selection was left in the hands of their very creative and talented floral designer Crissha of Piccolo Petalo Florals and the colour selection was determined by their bridesmaids choice of gown. Linda explains that having their bridesmaid come to the wedding from the UK, it was easier for her to find a gown locally and then provide Crissha with images of the gown to guide the creation of the floral installations. The couple chose Avalon Beach Reserve and Beach House Avalon as the settings for their ceremony and reception. With the help of Piccolo Petalo and Cloud 9 Event Management, they created a luxe dreamy romantic atmosphere that had all the wow factor the couple had been dreaming of. More of Linda and Antonio’s beachside wedding can be viewed in the full gallery on our website.

PARISIAN PATISSERIE Photographer Emily McDonald was browsing through a collection of Pantone’s colour palette collections when one jumped off the page. Right there alongside ‘costly caco’, ‘apricot spice’, ‘melted butter’ and ‘pink frosting’ was ‘Parisian patisserie’. Rising to Pantones challenge of blending them in daring ways with icing and sugary embellishments Emily took the concept, embraced the simplicity and elegance in the Parisian way and teamed them with a playful pop of pastels. Emunah Events were enlisted to form the backbone of the planning process in order to execute the vision flawlessly. Little Duck Calligraphy carefully curated elements that showcased the palette for the shoot and delighted with her stationery suite. The stunning floral arrangements from Gloriosa Florals, embraced the theme and delivered playful pops of pink and orange whilst silk ribbons draped and added drama to the overall romance. The bride was a vision in gowns provided by When Freddie Met Lilly with accessories by Little White Couture and the bridal look was completed expertly with hair and make up from Makeup by Gigi. FIONA & ROSS One morning on a walk around Fingal Headland Fiona turned back around from looking at the beach to find Ross down on one knee with their son beaming up at her from the baby carrier and he asked her to marry him. She tells us it was sweet, simple and just perfect. When it came down to planning their wedding day, the couple knew they wanted somewhere they could arrange all their own vendors. Ewingsdale Hall was the perfect location, combining beautiful scenery, proximity between ceremony and reception spaces allowing the couple to couple to celebrate outside under a canopy of lights. Speaking with Fiona about their wedding, she tells us she wasn’t even sure that they had a theme, but they knew that it needed to feel totally relaxed, like a Sunday sesh or backyard picnic house party. To achieve their dream vibe the couple used some furniture from home and hired a few pieces combining them with picnic blankets. cushions, and pallets to create the perfect wedding setting for them. The most memorable part of their wedding (after actually getting to married to each other) were the speeches. Fiona tells us that there were just so many laughs, tears and heartfelt words of love everywhere that it was something they will always remember. Their advice to other couples planning their wedding is to keep it simple and remember to keep it about the love.

GEORGIA & TOM Georgia tell us that they met through her best friend who had set her up to meet Tom at the Tatura Cricket & Tennis Ball. After connecting at the Ball Tom asked her out to dinner the following Friday (not realizing it was Valentine’s Day). Georgia had a month-long university exchange to Canada booked and wasn’t looking to meet someone, but she tells us that Tom was just too good to let go. They became an official couple and Skyped almost every day Georgia was away. The rest is history! As Georgia’s birthday approached, Tom kept teasing her about presents knowing that she hates surprises. Eventually, he told her that he had booked a couple of nights away for them. Georgia was convinced he had booked theatre tickets and that they would have a nice dinner in Melbourne! Friday night came, and Georgia had to work and didn’t get home until 3:30 in the morning. Tired and grumpy they set off for Melbourne. A short distance into the trip Tom said, “I better tell you where we are going so you can work the GPS we're going to, Phillip Island”. Georgia thought that Tom was very non-committal, just driving them around from lookout to lookout taking in the views and scenery. They were about to head back to their accommodation to get ready for dinner when Tom suggested going to one more lookout. Georgia didn’t know at the time, but poor Tom had spent the entire day search for a lookout that was tourist free. Having found the perfect spot and with the sun setting the couple were having a cuddle enjoying the view overlooking the beach. Georgia was taking some snaps and then looked down to find Tom was holding a ring over her shoulder. Spinning around she found Tom down on one knee and Georgia got the biggest birthday surprise ever! The couple chose to have their engagement session on Georgia’s family farm, a place that means so much to her. The couple are excited to be planning their wedding there as well and say that seeing their images from their engagement session has them even more excited for their big day.

MODERN CITY VIBES Modern City Vibes is the concept of Photographer Stephanie from Ivy and Birch Co. who envisaged a modern, eclectic and vibrant take on an urban jungle elopement. Teaming up with Malindri from Peridot Pretty they worked with a creative team to bring this editorial to life. The team created an abstract ecological interpretation of urbanisation, utilising florals to create a modern bouquet that melded the concept of the modern city with a romantic wild bohemian vibe. Splashes of vibrant blue sea holly were used to imitate starlight twinkling across the roof tops whilst sun sets on the urban landscape. The use of bougainvillea in the design mimicked the extravagant luxe feel of exploding fireworks on a special occasion. A sense of wonder and mystery can be felt right throughout this extraordinary session from the way the light shines across the dense urban landscape to the explosion of colour in the exquisite bouquet and the golden smokiness of this stunning bridal makeup by Rachel of Ru Make Up.
