SANTORINI ROMANCE Arguably Greece’s most beautiful island, Santorini, with its mix of towering cliffs, vivid blue waters and whitewashed villages, was the backdrop for this styled bridal inspiration session captured by Camilla Kirk Photography, that gives us a glimpse into what it would be like to celebrate a destination elopement in this island paradise. The stationery for the shoot was created by Canberra based stationer, Theo Berry Stationery, who designed the suite around the allure of the bright blue Aegean Sea and completed the look with delicate strokes of calligraphy. Styled to perfection from head to toe, wearing a gorgeous Madi Lane Bridal gown from Luv Bridal with accessories from Little White Couture, Natalie radiated a perfect bridal glow with the help of local Santorini hair and makeup artist Julia Popova. The look was completed with a stunning white bouquet from Santorini’s leading floral designers, Betty’s Flowers, who specialises in destination weddings and works closely with clients to create the perfect vibe. With cobblestone streets, pops of vibrant pink bougainvillea, rocky cliff faces, and majestic church bells, this captivating shoot will ensnare your imagination and if you are anything like us, have you wanting to visit the Greek Isles immediately!

RHIANNE & JARAN Stumbling upon their wedding venue by pure luck, Rhianne tells us they were on their way to inspect another villa in Tanah Lot when they got lost and found themselves on the Nirwana Golf Course. Deciding to make the most of their situation, they wandered around looking at the beautiful scenery and ended up finding their dream venue. Looking through their spectacular wedding photos, captured by the talented Gold Coast based photographer, Van Middleton, we can see why they fell in love with this stunning Bali Estate, from cliff tops, copious expanses of rich greenery, palm trees and surf breaks. There was something for everyone to relax and enjoy pre and post wedding. Rhianne tells us that her favourite moments were when the couple caught each other’s eyes for the first time as the ceremony commenced, the overwhelming feeling of love and happiness cannot be described by words. The other special moment was being able to wear a wedding dress designed and created by the brides mother, who cut and hand sewed three different laces together like a puzzle, to create the dress of her daughters’ dreams, as well the bridesmaid’s and flower girl’s dresses. The couple’s advice to others looking to plan their special day, is; “Enjoy it, at the end of the day it is not about the bits and bobs, its about the reason behind the wedding. You are marrying the man (or woman) of your dreams and that is all that matters”.

EARL GREY Inspired by the life of the Earl Grey, who was a prominent Whig politician and served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1830 to 1834. His tenure saw the passing of the Great Reform Act and the abolition of slavery in the British Empire. One of his many legacies is Earl Grey Tea, a blend of tea flavoured with the addition of, oil of bergamot, a variety of orange grown in France and Italy. The rind’s fragrant oil is added to black tea to give Earl Grey its unique taste. Drawing on this rich history, the team chose the picturesque coastline of Northumberland, the home of the great Earl, for the shoot and made the most of the rugged landscape’s beauty. The bride wore a stunning gown created by Cathy Telle, from her stunning Virens Collection, an ode to modesty and youthful natural beauty. We are loving the vintage style and elements that is embodied in this collection. The brides natural youthful beauty was expertly enhanced by Lyndsey of Lamplough Make Up and she carried a magnificent bouquet of wild blooms, peach roses and luscious greenery from local English florist Kristy, from The Wilde, who also styled and set all the little details of the stunningly romantic dining table. The graceful stationery of Australian calligrapher, Little Duck Calligraphy, and the floating ribbons from Song Bird Silk, rounded out the look for this shoot with the overall impression of watching a wild and free soul answering the call of her heart.

SUMMER SUN When we think of summer, we immediately think of the sunflower field, with their bright yellow faces and their love of tracking the sunshine, and it’s only natural that we would associate this gloriously happy bloom with this time of year. We were very excited when this styled bridal session ,captured by Becky van Straalen Photography, landed in our inbox. Conceptualised by stylist and stationer, Lorelie of Studio B. Couture, the team set about creating a session that was a celebration of a whimsical bride’s love of colour and unique details. The stationery set the tone for the day, with unique hand cut paper sunflowers, that mimicked the large golden blooms and added an air of playfulness that was picked up by the talented Malindri of Peridot Pretty, who created a colour blocked bouquet inspired by pink lemonade, a childhood favourite. The team travelled to Oakey in rural Queensland, to the sunflower fields of ‘Arcadia’ the Anderson Family Farm, where they were welcomed by Jayne who opened the fields up to their creative endeavour and even let them take over their sunflower stall for a few extra images. Anne the lovely bride, was radiant with make up by Brisbane artist Sally Goodwin Makeup and looked every inch the summertime princess with a stunning couture gown with embellished floral motifs by the talented Jordanna, from Jordanna Regan Couture. The unconventional accessories were created by the team’s floral expert and has us wanting to wear flowers as jewellery every day!

SARAH & DREW Sarah tells us at the time of the wedding, she was working as a wedding and event planner and wanted something that was different and intimate, so they decided they would have a destination wedding with their fifteen guests to witness the happy occasion. Deciding on a location came down to choosing a location where they could getaway and have time to themselves. Drew, being an avid surfer helped narrow down the location and when Sarah came across the intimate adults only resort ‘Lomani Island Resort’ in the Mamanuca Island of Fiji, they knew they had found the perfect location for their destination wedding. Choosing to do a Trash the Dress session with Leezett Photography, became the couple’s favourite detail about their destination celebration and we can clearly see why this was one of their favourite moments and we are just in love with everything we see, from the spectacular flower crown and veil shots, to the underwater captures in the crystal turquoise waters. Sarah and Drew’s advice to other couples planning their wedding, is to not get caught up in the little things and to remember that the day is about you and your partner.

LISA & JUSTIN The Couple were born a day apart, Lisa in Sydney and Justin in Singapore, yet somehow, they found each other twenty-four years later, on a TagRugby field in Sydney. Justin tells us that it wasn’t until a few years after their initial meeting, that the sparks started flying after a few dates and a camping trip for their 25th birthdays when they officially became an item. Justin says “If opposites attract, then Lisa and I are probably the proof, but for all our differences, a passion for travel is something we share, whether it’s here within Australia or further abroad, we have loved exploring and discovering new experiences together since day one. We moved to London in 2015 and travelled through much of Europe before I proposed on New York’s Highline on a cold November morning in 2016. At the end of 2017 the stars aligned for a return to Australia and we started to plan our big day”. Choosing a location for their special day saw them look to Canberra for something a little different and inspiring. They eventually settled on the National Museum of Australia for their ceremony and Old Parliament House for their reception. The locations provided some stunning backdrops for photos and helped the couple who were very hands on with the design of their wedding, to organically develop a colour palette that complemented an autumnal toned Canberra. The couple held a low-key tea ceremony, involving both their families to kick off the reception, acknowledging Justin’s Chinese heritage and from there, a laidback but fun party atmosphere ensued. BELLE ÉPOCH Inspired by New Zealand Photographer Eva Bradley’s desire to photograph a wedding session, which celebrated the freedom and wildness of love in off-grid locations without any of the limitations which, for a variety of good reasons, come with a typical wedding day, Belle Epoch was born and became a beautiful ethereal sense of romance deep in the native New Zealand bush at Tongoio Falls. Belle Epoch was not only inspired by the need to create a wild free session, but also by the historically golden age of ‘Belle Epoch’, where at the turn of the 19th century women were beginning to break out of the man made moulds that had bound them for so long, to embrace a new freedom that was of their own making. Eva explains that in recent years wedding styling has begun to follow the same path with more and more modern couples expressing their love in their own way. Miss Frou Frou stylist extraodinaire, Suzanne Beaumont, joined the team at The Orchard store to create a wedding table setup to match the theme, selecting a cactus gove growing on a vacant lot. Flowers for the session were provided by Lushka Flowers, their simple elegance complemented the aesthetic perfectly. A sense of sweetness and innocence were added to the shoot with delicate treats and a cake by The Picnic and Monsieur Macaron The models were styled in foraged pieces from costume theatres and the teams own wedding trunks, with hair styles by Abby Schofield and Makeup by Candice Dear. HAYLEY & JIM Hayley and Jim met at the Inverell Boxing Day Races, where Jim asked for her number and the rest, as they say is history. Hayley tells us that the proposal came as a massive surprise as only the day before she had dragged him to a jeweller for the millionth time and he was so uninterested she thought it was never going to happen. Jim woke Hayley up super early to go with him to Cave Mountain, which is the highest point on their farm, to watch the sunrise and after making her climb up a ridiculously steep hill they arrived to BBQ set up with roses he’d picked. She tells us that she still didn’t think he was planning a proposal, she just thought he’d taken her for a romantic breakfast. She explains, after a few minutes of them taking selfies, he asked her to get something from the esky and she opened it up to find the most incredible ring she had ever seen that had been made just for her. Their home was the inspiration behind the design of the day, Hayley wanted the natural beauty of the property and the elegance of their home to become the focus for a simple and elegant casual wedding with beautiful romantic florals from Rosemerin Florist in Armidale, to highlight the properties style. The couple’s advice to others planning their weddings is to keep true to your taste, just because it's a wedding doesn't mean you need to do what everyone else is doing to keep to a trend. You want it to be a celebration that reflects your love and what you both enjoy.

WILD WOODLAND SOLSTICE The Summer Solstice also known as midsummer, was the inspiration behind this enchanting woodland elopement session, captured by Translucent Photography in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland at Montville Country Cabins. Nature became the centre of Studio B. Couture’s concept and a palette of warm blushes and corals were combined with crystals, moss and organic textures from Belinda of Husk and Vine, to create a truly magical midsummers celebration. Florist and co-stylist Malindri of Peridot Pretty, used this palette to create a wild backdrop that drew the eye from the earth to the sky celebrating the natural surroundings and highlighting the beauty of the floral design. The bride looking radiant in a Luna Willow gown with a custom Peridot Pretty floral crown, with hair and makeup by Emilia Maria Makeup + Hair, as she rode into her ceremony on horseback courtesy of Your Mane Event. CHIARA & MATT Chiara and Matt met on the job, and Chiara tells us that Matt proposed unexpectedly at home in their backyard one evening with fairy lights, flowers, live music and a feast! Oh, and of course she said yes! Speaking with Chiara about their day she tells us that they wanted something that was uniquely them; dark, moody and whimsical. They also wanted a venue that they hadn’t been to before (not an easy feat in Perth) so when they came across Locally Crafted, a brand-new warehouse at the time, they were so excited to be able to be the first couple to be married there. No exact moment stands out above the rest for Chiara and Matt as they chose to do things their way, very untraditionally and they are so glad that they did. Chiara says, “Right from waking up together on the morning of our wedding to helping each other get ready, with all our family right there was just so magical” and we couldn’t agree more! We had a tough time choosing our favourite images to share, from the brides stunning twopiece outfit, the adorable captures of them with their fur baby, to the stunning floral bouquet by Katie Cooper, we are just in love with it all! The Couple’s advice for those planning their weddings right now is to; forget about what is expected of you and what others will think, just do it your way and make it your special day!

LIBERTY Inspired by ‘The Romantics Era’, this session captured by Amanda of Peppermint Photography, explores the mysticism that is buried in all of us. When we asked where the title Liberty came from the team explained: “Today the expression ‘romantic’ evokes images of love and sentimentality, but the term ‘Romanticism’ has a much wider meaning, it’s a creative movement covering a range of developments in art, literature, music and philosophy, spanning the late 18th century. During the Romantic period, key transitions took place in society, as dissatisfied intellectuals and artists challenged the establishment. The Romantic era emphasized intense emotion as an authentic source of aesthetic experience. In England, the Romantic poets such as Percy Bysshe Shelley and William Blake were at the very heart of this movement where there was an emphasis on the importance of the individual; a conviction that people should follow ideals rather than imposed conventions and rules. They were inspired by a desire for liberty, and so were we.” The team were inspired by a palette of black, sheer white, tarnished silver, deep purples, plums and how they would reflect and ensnare the golden light. Choosing to shoot at Brisbane’s iconic military bunkers of Fort Lytton, the team were able to perfectly balance hidden pockets of darkness with the golden rays of light creating almost ethereal and illuminated portraits of a young couple in love. This unconventionally beautiful session may not be for the white wedding traditionalists, but we are delighting in the way it reveals the deeper shades, and finds the beauty within the shadows, not only within the black diamond’s depths but in the darkly petalled decadent blooms. This session is a definite must see for the modern bride looking for something a little different. SAMANTHA & BEN Samantha and Ben were childhood friends, seeing each other every day as their parents worked together. Samantha tells us that this made them worry about how their relationship would affect their parent’s relationships, but they couldn’t deny their feelings and knowing that they were both serious, jumped in and haven’t looked back. The proposal came as a complete surprise for Samantha, who came home from work one day to a room decorated with balloons, rose petals and one hundred roses. She recalls how endearing and sweet it was with Ben involving their families and puppies. Being able to share the happy news with everyone immediately and being able to take pictures was something that she will forever treasure. When it came time to capture the official engagement photos, Samantha fell in love with one of their photographer Jack Chauvel’s previous sessions at Breenhold Gardens and knew right away that they wanted to have their session in the same magical gardens. They had fun exploring the gardens with their fur babies and one of their favourite moments was getting to play with a coloured smoke bomb, which went straight to their must have list for wedding photos. The couple’s advice to others looking to choose their wedding photographer, is to meet with your potential photographers in person and pick someone that you like, its so easy to get lost in all the social media posts. Samantha says, “Jack put us at ease with his sense of humour and the way he worked for us, chasing the light and capturing some of the most amazing pictures. This was our first photoshoot together and Jack has us excited for our next one.”

MEGAN & EMMET Emmet was a hardworking single dad looking for a nanny, when Megan responded to his add and fell in love with the little family instantly and for some reason, she just knew she absolutely had to have the job. Megan tells us that they worked together for six months before deciding that they couldn’t ignore the connection between them and jokes about how life throws you curveballs, from a job interview to the happily ever after they now have as a family. Megan and Emmet wanted their day to be like one big family house party and when they found Austinvilla Estate, they felt like they had been given a true home away from home. The big renovated, yet vintage, homestead was the perfect venue for their reception while the stunning pavilion gave them exactly what they were looking for as a ceremony location. The couple’s theme was modern rustic luxe and they chose warm Australian winter colours and florals mixed with rose gold and marble to achieve their dream look. Their bridesmaids chose their own dresses for the day, choosing a shade of pink or burgundy to reflect their own unique styles and personalities. Megan says it was fun to watch it all come together perfectly on the day. The couples favourite moment was exchanging their vows, Megan recalls they had worked so hard on perfecting the words to share with each other that when the time came it was a just her and Emmet in that moment and nothing else mattered. The stress and the expense, Megan and Emment tell us, will be totally worth it! Our only advice is to stand back for a minute and enjoy what is happening around you and take it all in as it will be over so quickly.” Photographer: Katrina Cram Photography | Videographer: Marc Media Celebrant: Karen Miles | Venue: Austinvilla Estate | Floral Design: Pollinate | Wedding Cake: Keira’s Kitchen | Music: Michael Eotvos Makeup: Brooklyn Giovenco | Hair: Aleesha Darke | Bridal Couture: Pronovias | Grooms Attire: Politix

RACHEL & NICK Rachel tell us that she met Nick at their local pub, with a mutual friend setting them up (thanks Kell) and when it came time for the proposal Nick got down on one knee down by the dam on the farm with their two fur babies right by their sides. The couple chose to hold their wedding at the farm where they currently live and where nick also works. The property holds many special memories for the couple, being the place where Nick proposed, as well as the reception venue being where Rachel spend a lot of time when she was younger with her mother who has now passed. Rachel loved being able to do a lot of DIY for her special day and had Nick and one of the groomsmen working over time before the wedding, making the arbour from timber on the farm for her to create the macramé masterpiece for their ceremony backdrop, which we think is simply incredible! But the couples favourite moment was when Rachel got out of the car and saw Nick waiting for her at the other end and the special moment, they spent watching each other as Rachel walked down the aisle. Rachel recalls that it was, an amazing feeling and they felt like they were the only people in the whole world. The couple’s advice to others planning their own wedding is to not give up on your dream, sometimes its hard to pull it all together but it truly pays off in the end. Just make sure you take a special moment together away from everyone during the day to truly appreciate the momentous occasion. IVA & MARKUS Iva and Markus met while on exchange in Sweden, it was their second day and they were in Swedish language class together and Iva tells us she remembers thinking how handsome Markus was, she eventually built up the courage to speak with him and during an official meet and greet she dragged him out of line to go to the local pub with friends instead. She goes on to tell us that “in early October 2007, a bunch of us booked tickets on a ferry going from Copenhagen to Oslo (return) for the weekend where we had to share rooms and I bunked with Markus. I can remember how it happened now, but I distinctly remember walking through Oslo - it was sunny, a jazz band was playing, we had just been to, or were going to, the art gallery, and I had the courage to take his hand in front of all our friends. I’ve always been shy with boys, but it felt so right and later that day even after an embarrassing face plant, he still asked me out.” When it came time to propose Markus tells us that there were plenty of earlier attempts, but they fell through as he wanted the proposal to be a surprise and Iva was always so good at figuring him out. There were plans to do it in a hot air balloon in 2014, on a coastal walk in Sydney in 2015 and diving in a cave in 2016, but in the end not wanting to wait, Markus broke down in the Australian Museum on a rainy Friday in front of the T-Rex exhibit and asked Iva to marry him. They chose to celebrate their love in an intimate elopement with their nearest and dearest in the Blue Mountains with Henry Paul Photography on hand to capture all the special moments.

VASHI & PRANEET Vashi and Praneet met through mutual friends while out on lunch and Vashi tells us that they clicked instantly and began talking every night. After meeting up a few more times for coffee dates, movie dates and trips to Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens, Praneet asked Vashi to be his girlfriend on a bench that overlooked the river. Fast forward four years and Praneet set up a garden arch with fairy lights and rose petals over the same bench where he had asked Vashi to be his girlfriend and got down on one knee with a ring he had custom made just for her by Geokas Diamonds and asked her to be his wife. When it came time to have official engagement photos taken, the couple knew they wanted to go to Redcliffe and Suttons Beach where they spend a lot of time on weekends together with their dogs and knew that the right person for the job was Keira from Keira McCall Photography who captured the couple in some of the most stunning images we have seen! Vashi and Praneet are planning a big Indian wedding and tell us the plans have been going well so far, they still have a lot to do but are taking it one step at a time and we can’t wait to see the photos from their wedding day when it all comes together!

JESSICA & DANNY Danny’s proposal was a sweet reflection of some of the things that the couple adore the most; faith, family, friends and food. The proposal took three months to coordinate and Danny’s says it was an amazing opportunity to author a fairytale moment for his bride to be. Everyone had their role and knew their part, and Danny got Jessi to think that she was going on a brunch date with her best friend (and maid of honour) and at the end of the brunch she was handed a letter that Danny had written. On the way back to the car they casually bumped into another friend who stole her away to another destination that had been specifically set up for her and this process was repeated another two times. They finally came to the top of Mount Macedon where Danny was waiting for Jessi to ask her to marry him with Jackson Grant close by to capture the emotion of the moment. When Jessi said yes, their family and friends jumped out from behind the hedges and they all filed down the mountain to Mt Macedon Hotel to share a meal before Danny whisked his new fiancé away. Danny says that the day was so filled with overwhelming love that there were so many amazing moments, but the one that he remembers most vividly is the moment the song began playing that would signal the beginning of the ceremony, and in that moment he looked up and thanked god for all the love in the room and was fighting back the tears. Seeing Jessi walking towards him was one of the most surreal moments of the day and his life.
