WORKING WITH YOUR VENDORS Having a beautiful, fabulous, memorable wedding that your guests reminisce over for years to come, is everyone's dream. For the success of your wedding it is critical that you are able to build trusting working relationships with your vendors. Here are our top tips on how to cultivate that bond and set your wedding up to be a success! CHOOSING AN AMAZING TEAM: Seeking the assistance of a wedding planner is the one thing I wish we had done for our wedding back in 2014. In our opinion, the greatest benefits of having a wedding planner is that they know how to assemble a team of vendors that work well together, which makes the planning process and even problem solving, a breeze. However, If you are choosing to brave the planning process alone, we highly recommend that you take some time to head to your key vendors website and look for their list of recommended vendors. This will give you a brilliant starting point of where to find other businesses that know and have worked with your vendor before and chances are, you will also be able to view some of the work that they have created together as a team.

BE A GOOD COMMUNICATOR: Sometimes going with the flow is not a good thing. If something isn't going as you'd hoped, don't be afraid to speak up. We promise you that if you keep it professional, you will not be labeled a difficult client, in fact your vendors will thank you, as they understand that sometimes it may take a rough draft or two in to have everyone on the same page! SET A REALISTIC BUDGET FROM DAY ONE: Being honest and realistic about your budget, will ensure that vendors are only giving you relevant information that is suitable to your budget and will ensure, they know what numbers they need to work within. This way, if you're brainstorming an idea, your florist for example, knows if an idea can work and if not, is able to guide you to suitable alternatives that will work with your budget. TAKE CARE OF YOUR VENDORS: We touched on this a little in our Autumn Magazine, taking care of your vendors and ensuring that they have a place to store their belongings, as well as ensuring they have regular breaks and one decent vendor meal is important to their well being and ability to do the best they possibly can for your wedding.

MELISSA MAIER TELL US ALL ABOUT YOU!: I love all things pretty, having a background in design and styling I made an organic shift to makeup in 2015. Having worked as an interior designer for eight years in my twenties, I loved cosmetic renovations, making an old building come to life was a buzz and it's something I still enjoy. Doing makeup was no different for me, you still start with an amazing structure and bring it to life with product, colour and technique. I am a creative little soul who loves fashion, interiors, styling and makeup. I think that's why I just love what I do. WHERE ARE YOU BASED & WHAT AREAS DOES YOUR BUSINESS SERVICE? I moved out to our farm in South Gippsland five years ago and have never looked back. I do however travel all across Victoria from the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, Daylesford & Melbourne WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU? Starting out with COFFEE! It ends in beautiful faces and creative chaos! WHAT DO YOU WISH CLIENTS KNEW ABOUT YOUR JOB? Just how many emails I receive. I really wish someone would just arrive and announce that they are here to take care of them for me! The amount of time that is spent constantly cleaning brushes ensuring they are free from bacteria. Lashes! I totally need shares in a lash company! I go through them that fast! The dedication and passion that is required to work while others are enjoying time off. I love what I do and I actually really care about you on your wedding day, I don't book two weddings a day. I spend the time involved with each client making sure they are 150% happy with my work. WHAT DOES THE REST OF 2019 HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU: Inspiring weddings, amazing brides, on trend styled shoots, home renovations and a trip to Europe! I cant bloody wait FAVOURITE 2019 STYLE: Skin needs to look like skin, barely there, sheer foundation with coverage only where you need it, luminous skin, individual lashes and glossy or matte statement lips, are some of my favourites. OUR GUIDE TO NAVIGATING HONEYMOON PLANNING: "THE DO'S AND THE DON'TS" After the months and months of stressful wedding planning finally coming to a close, the honeymoon is the light at the end of the tunnel that gets you through the tedious hours spent chasing guests for their rsvp and arguing with your family over... well, EVERYTHING! The last thing you need is an unexpected surprise so we have compiled our top six do's and don'ts of honeymoon planning to get you started and put your mind at ease. DON'T: LET THE PHOTOGRAPHS FOOL YOU Promotional images can be very misleading and are quite often taken of the property in its prime. Our advice is to seek the help of a travel professional specialising in your honeymoon destination or extensively read reviews from independent sites, like tripadvisor, to see what people who have actually been have there experienced. DO: CONSIDER A HONEYMOON GIFT REGISTRY The wedding can be a financial drain having a gift registry for your honeymoon reduces the chance of receiving duplicate gifts and lets your guest spoils you on your first holiday as a married couple! DON'T: PLAN THE HONEYMOON ALL BY YOURSELF This holiday is about the two of you as a married couple, celebrating your union where equal opinions should be

heard. Talk your plans over and find out what is on each others bucket list, then pick your top experiences and look for a honeymoon destination that will allow you to experience these things. Keep the list and add to it throughout the year and use it again to plan for your anniversary holidays or other special occasions. DO: BE REALISTIC ABOUT TRAVEL TIMES If you are travelling outside of your own country make sure you have done your research and know what season you are travelling into and pack accordingly. DON'T: HEAD OFF TOO SOON AFTER THE WEDDING. Traditionally, a honeymoon starts the moment your final guests leaves the reception, however, after an entire day of fun, partying and an early morning to commence preparations, waiting 48 hours will give you a chance to wind down and relax before heading off to the destination of your choice without causing stress, when you find yourself rushing to meet travel deadlines. DO: ASK FOR HONEYMOON SPECIALS Make sure you ask when booking elements of your honeymoon if any special offers are given to honeymooners, you may just be pleasantly surprised and there is no harm asking!

VANUATU AN ARCHIPELAGO NATION OF EIGHTY THREE ISLANDS SITUATED ACROSS A PRISTINE MARINE LANDSCAPE IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC COUNTRY BOASTS A LIFESTYLE THAT IS RELATIVELY UNTOUCHED BY THE WESTERN WORLD. EXPANSES OF INVITING SAND GREET YOU AS YOUR FEET ARE LAPPED BY THE PLEASANTLY WARM WATERS OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN. IN THE DISTANCE VOLCANOES LIE SMOULDERING AMONGST THE BRILLIANT GREENS OF THE TROPICAL JUNGLE, BEGGING THE INNER EXPLORER IN ALL OF US TO BE SET FREE.

HONEYMOON FEATURE

EXPLORING VANUATU'S PRISTINE ISLANDS Filled with the promise of excitement, adventure and pristine crystal clear waters, the network of eighty-three islands that make up the archipelago nation of Vanuatu, is truly enchanting from every angle. Offering even the most seasoned of travellers, a new adventure and experience around each corner, as well as the opportunity to recuperate during your exploration downtime with amazing service, and a plethora of five star relaxation options! Located right on our doorstep here in Australia, Vanuatu is just a hop, skip and a jump away, placing us on the doorstep of this spirited nation within mere hours of the perfect destination for honeymooners wanting to escape the jet lag, but still experience five star luxury and out of this world views of the pacific ocean. We have started you off on your pacific adventure with our top four reasons to visit this spectacular country! At number one, is the people and culture! Vanuatu is a nation where it's music, cuisine and cultural traditions, have remained unchanged for centuries and cultural experiences are easily accessible wherever you choose to explore. From the cultural centre in the capital of Port Villa, and the Ekasup Cultural Village where indigenous tribes share their ancestral Melanesian dances, cooking and medicines to the northernmost Banks and Torres Island where you are rewarded with local experiences such as Rah Islan's Snake Dance. This dance is performed by village men painted in black and white accompanied by traditional drums and songs, or Gaua Island Water Music practised only by women who turn the ocean into an orchestra with

seriously infectious rhythms created simply by splashing and clapping. If that isn't enough a journey to Pentecost Island will enable you to marvel at the bravery of Vanuatu's famous land divers, the original bungee jumpers, as they leap from high platforms with only vines tied to their ankles to break their fall. Coming in at a close second, is the sheer bliss of the postcard perfect coastlines. From the celebrated Champagne beach, so named for the fizz that appears at low tide, caused by the gas escaping from the volcanic rocks, to the striking ebony of Tanna Islands volcanic sands, you will not be disappointed. In fact, no matter where you choose to wander amid the various islands, you will never be at a loss to find a perfect spot where the crystal pacific waters meet pristine sand beckoning you to swim, snorkel or simply bask in the beauty that surrounds you. Next on our list of course, is the delicious food! To truly appreciate the sheer bounty of Vanuatu's fertile volcanic soil, a stroll through the stalls in Port Vila's Market House is a must do! A rainbow of tempting produce and flowers are piled high by

the friendliest of people, eager to share their food and knowledge of the Islands produce. Vanuatu people have been putting the rest of the western world to shame and living sustainably for centuries, eating with the seasons and nurturing the land for nourishment. Sampling the national dish, Lap Lap, a root vegetable cake made with; taro paste, coconut milk, island cabbage and either meat or fish that is baked in a rock oven. A simply delightful dish to experience and savour. Exploring the streets and discovering the best french bakeries and local chocolatiers is also high on the list of delectable priorities! Finally, a trip to Vanuatu wouldn't be complete without a visit to one of the Islands glorious waterfalls. The Mele Cascades on Efate, is just a fifteen minute drive from Port Vila and is a spectacular example of the countries waterfalls, that are a true natural water adventure park complete with torrents, rockpools, caves, springs and hidden waterways. Not to far away at Lololima, a secluded gem you are able to cool off in gentle pools with tiered rivulets and have some fun on rope swings. The truly intrepid adventurers can seek out the natural

WINTER WANDERLUST There is nothing quite like the crispness of winter to inspire a bout of 'Wanderlust', whether it be to a balmy climate full of sunshine and cocktails or in the case of this incredible fashion editorial, a serious longing for a wintery mountainside with falling snow and mysterious forests. Captured by Jessica Rose Photography, this incredible concept coordinated and styled by Melissa, of Melissa Maier Styles, hones in on the raw and earthy textures of nature in the stunning fabrics of Cathleen Jia's incredible gowns, the fluffy textures of those spectacular fur jackets from Unreal Fur and the stark elegance of the indoor woodland backdrop that has left us completely enthralled and fully consumed by wanderlust! The team continues to be inspired by nature throughout the editorial, with an attention to detail that is simply breathtaking. The subtle yet dramatic tones of grey and ice blue in the flawless make up styling by the teams four contributing artists, Isuru Makeup Artist, Holly Balnaves, Effortless Makeup by Sophie and Miss Bec, contrasted perfectly with the warm tones of the rose gold accessories by Jeanette Maree which have been fashioned into intricate patterns inspired by floral gardens and adorned with precious stones, while giant luminous pearls nestle amongst the windswept tousles of hair which was expertly textured and sculpted by master hair stylist Victoria MUA . Each new image found us falling deeper in love with this editorial session, with its unexpected but delightful details, like those spectacular yellow boots and indoor forest, captivating and delighting us.

BOHO DISCO Have you ever dreamed of a unique elopement with disco balls, vibrant colours and a smoke bomb finale? If you answered yes, then this is the editorial shoot you have been waiting for! Captured by Bruna Kitchen Photography in a stunning greenhouse on the grounds of the Texas Women's University, this elopement has us more than slightly obsessed. The bride was a vision, with flawless makeup by Beauty Made to Stay and Hair by Leslie Barajas. She was styled in the Phillips gown by Tara LaTour from A & Be´bridal shop in Dallas. The soft grey crepe gown featured a stunning deep v neckline, thin shoulder straps and was accented at the waist with a spectacular, one of a kind art deco inspired embellished belt. The Groom looking extremely dapper, was styled in classic black suit with a bow tie, in a stunning shade of dusty rose. The creative concept of Ilana, of Briderie & Co, this editorial was focused on the twinkling plays of light from giant disco balls. The colour palette was inspired by these refracting rays, they were brought to life with soft pastels and vibrant shades of pink and various tones of violet. An abundance of richly textured floral arrangements, set a distinctly bohemian vibe to the celebration. Designed by Amelia, of Studio Tersilla, they included magnificent king proteas, roses, foxtails and fun little disco balls that embellished the entrance to the greenhouse, the ceremony installation and the sweetheart table.

LAURA & WILLIAM Laura and Will met at their local college poster sale, where they were both stood up by their friends. Will was selling posters at the same time Laura walked by to check the sale out. Striking up a conversation, the rest as they say is history. Laura tells us that their engagement session, captured by LW Imaging, took pace on one of the coldest days during winter. The location had changed at the last minute due to the weather and found them at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Laura tells us "We eventually built up the courage to venture outdoors and found it really wasn't as bad as we imagined. We loved how the images turned out with the Fairmont Chateau in the background surrounded by snow." Will proposed to Laura eight months after originally talking about it and having gone ring shopping. Laura explains that due to being offered a job contract interstate they ended up spending four months apart. It wasn't until after her contact ended was up that Will came to visit and on a hike to the top of a mountain Will got down on one knee taking Laura by surprise and popping the big question. The ring is a stunning princess cut diamond surrounded by a diamond halo set in white gold with an art deco vibe and to Laura's delight it was the actual ring they had picked out eight months earlier on their initial shopping trip. Will had purchased the ring and kept it a secret all that time. The couple are in the middle of their planning, with the date set for October and are excited about becoming husband and wife. Congratulations guys, we cannot wait to see the images from your special day!

HANNAH & GLEN Hannah and Glen met whilst at a campdrafting competition. Hannah tells us that Glen proposed on Christmas Day after opening his presents and telling her that he had run out of time to get her a present. Hannah says that she tried hard to hide her disappointment, but just had to gently remind Glen that maybe next year he should use the 364 days before Christmas a little more productively! It wasn’t until after the horses had been fed later in the morning, that Glen called her into the lounge room where he got down on two knees (not one) and asked her to marry him, turning the day into one that was filled with excitement, love and joy enabling them to celebrate with their family and friends.

The couple were married in an outdoor setting on a private property, just outside of Cowra. Hannah tells us it was important for them to be married outdoors and feel connected to the land they were brought up on. Their ceremony space was a magical clearing down on the Lachlan River, surrounded by big old trees that created an amphitheatre style space which was completed by a beautiful timber platform with custom built arbour. With the weather turning cold during the winter evenings the couple chose to move their reception to the Showground Pavilion, a beautiful old building with amazing timber floors and high ceilings, that kept their guests warm and cosy for the evenings celebrations.

Their advice to couples planning at the moment is to remember that your wedding day is the most amazing day of your lives and it goes by in a flash. Make sure you take your partner aside for five minutes to take it all in, as its so special to be able to stand back and admire the gorgeous setting your in and all your amazing guests who are there just for you.

AVERY & MIKE This stunning editorial elopement session, captured by Nikk, of Nikk Nguyen Photo, set in the foothills of the majestic Gore Range on the edge of Piney Lake in Vali, Colorado, instantly had us thinking of the mountain scenes from The Sound of Music. This breathtaking private property is set on a substantial forty-acre rocky mountain retreat, that has long been known as a destination wedding favourite and it is not hard to see why, with it's jaw droppingly spectacular scenery greeting you from every direction. The theme of the editorial session is described by the teams coordinator, stylist and floral designer as; “an accidental Wes Anderson inspired affair, with quirky vintage detailing and an unexpected archery element.” The combination of chequered patterns, rustic colours and quirky detailing compliments the stunning backdrop in a whimsical, ultra-modern fun way that has left us utterly captivated. The teams stunning bride Avery, was glowing from head to toe with flawless hair and makeup by the Fluff Bar and a spectacular bell sleeved lace gown by designer Rish Bridal from A & B Bridal Shop. Michael, the teams groom, cut a suave figure in a deep burgundy jacket with a dark blue open necked chequered shirt and medium grey linen trousers that perfectly compliments and contrasts against the décor and floral designs. Be sure to click on the hidden gallery link at the end of the feature to see more images from this incredible shoot. We promise you won't be disappointed!

INTIMATE RETRO RANCH ELOPEMENT This stunning, earthy and intimate elopement, was captured by talented SoCal photographer Melissa Fe Chapman, at the Retro Ranch, a private ten acre property nestled in the Temecula Valley. The ranch provides endless opportunities throughout the property to capture unforgettable memories. The property's natural clusters of pampas grass, provided the perfect backdrop and frame, for both the ceremony space in front of the striking red barn and the intimate sweetheart table on the expansive lawns. Hues of emerald green, sage, taupe, ivory and slate pulled the rustic yet modern theme together, with opulent details like a retro 1968 air stream and crystal geode cake with edible gold leaf, adding an air of mystery, glamour and masculinity to the editorial session. Both Grooms struck a dashing figure in emerald green and navy blue tuxedos from Friar Tux, that were paired with rich velvet bow ties from, Stitch and Tie, and striking botanical buttonholes, that were accented with blue thistle blooms and twine. The Grooms celebrated their nuptials with a stroll through the picturesque landscape, a champagne toast and a cuddle with their fur baby 'Fox', before celebrating with chocolate covered pretzels, oreos, madelines and cakepops, decorated in their signature green toned geode theme.

JACQUELINE & CHRISTOPHER Jacqueline and Christopher met during their first year at university, although it wasn't until after graduation that they started dating. Jacqueline tells us that it was a slow burn at the start, but Chris persisted and seven years after they first met, while travelling in Switzerland, Chris decided to propose. Jacqueline says, he bent the knee at the top of a mountain, on a peak just above the clouds and it was truly a magical experience! When it came to planning the wedding, the couple knew they wanted a space where their guests could let their hair down and relax. They wanted somewhere that encouraged mingling with a blended, open plan feeling, so that all of their guests would feel like family at a barbeque, rather than a formal setting. It wasn't until a family friend offered them their property, that their vision became a reality and the idea of a relaxed bohemian soiree under a tipi tent in the country, was born. We asked the couple what their favourite moments were from their wedding. They replied and told us it was getting to kiss for the first time as husband and wife and the expression on Chris's face changing from surprise to resignation and then to laughter, as he realised Jacqueline had chosen Dropkick Murphys song, 'Shipping up to Boston', as her bridal walk music. The couples advice to others planning, is to remember that you don't have to do everything yourself. Many people will offer to help you because they want to be involved in your special day. It's wonderful to have the imagination and creativity of multiple loved ones come together, even if it doesn't turn out exactly how you pictured it, you might just end up with something even better!

PENNY & ADAM Penny tells us that it was at a mutual friends 21st, some years ago that they first met. Penny spotted Adam across a crowded room and was instantly attracted to the mysterious man who resembled Johnny Depp. She tells us that it took her a few hours to find out who he was, but when they finally met they both knew there was something special about each other. After a night of constant conversation and a month long dating frenzy, where they spent every single available moment together, they both decided that they were in love. There was a spanner in the works though, as Penny already had plans in place to go overseas for an extended period and when Adam learned of her plans, he realised that he didn't want to be without her and decided to follow. Two years later the couple went back to Europe on holidays and on their first evening in their apartment, Adam proposed. Penny tells us that it was just perfect and very them, as a couple. When it came to wedding planning, they tell us that they always knew they wanted to get married outdoors, as both shared a love for the Australian bushland and the hinterland area surrounding Brisbane. When taking a walk into Brockhurst Farm and seeing the city from the barn and the ridge, they knew it was the venue for them. Pennys favourite detail from their wedding, was the french door arbour that Adam built for her to walk through, which framed the amazing view through the valley and was simply perfect! The couples favourite moment from their day was taking time out with each other after dinner, to sit under the stars on a picnic blanket and talk until they were found by their photographer. Their advice to other couples, is to be organised if you are doing DIY projects and to investigate the money, but don't overdo it and have too many options, as it can be very overwhelming and confusing. Remember that it is your day, so do it your way. SARAH & BRAD Sarah and Brad met through mutual friends, while standing in line at a bar. They shared a sneaky dance floor smooch and went their separate ways thinking that was it, but as fate would have it, they met again a year later while at a music festival with the same friends and managed to rekindle the romance from their previous meeting and have been together ever since. Sarah tells us that their proposal story was amusing, with Brad's carefully laid romantic plans for Sarah's 30th birthday not quite working to plan. She explains, "I had to go overseas for work and as it was also going to be my birthday, Brad said he would tag along on my trip, so we took a few days leave prior to the trip and went to Iceland to see the northern lights. However, when we got there, they had a massive blizzard and we spent the entire five days with zero visibility. After dinner one evening we came back to the room, where Brad had got the hotel to set up candles to create some mood lighting in anticipation of the proposal. All I can remember thinking when we walked in, was that I was so cold and wanted to go to bed. I was struggling to work out why they would come into our room to light candles! As I was trying to blow them all out, Brad had got down on one knee and I finally realised what was actually going on! The couple were married in a stunning ceremony at Marges Cottage and their favourite moment was having one of their friends read a poem they had written about them and it was so lighthearted, lovely and fun! The couples advice to others planning, is to make sure that you are 100% on the same page and trust in your vendors, or the people you put in charge of setting up your vision and then don't sweat the small stuff, just enjoy the experience!

RACHEL & JARRED Rachel and Jarred met at their local pub, through a mutual friend and Rachel tells us that the proposal was quite a fairytale one. They had been together for just over five years and as a celebration for surviving Rachel's study and finally graduating law school, the couple decided to go on a trip to Europe for two weeks. It was on their fourth day, that Jarred organised a surprise a trip to Northern Spain, to stay at a gorgeous spanish winery, called Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine. Rachel tells us that they had their little boy with them, who was sixteen months at the time, so Jarred organised a babysitter to come and look after him, while he took Rachel for a relaxing spa, which included smelling different aromatic oils and matching up the wines to determine which oil to use for a massage. This was followed by a romantic dinner at a local Michelin Star restaurant, where they indulged in a fourteen course degustation feast. The couple were then blindfolded (Jarred's being removed as soon as Rachel's was in place) and led to the old cathedral at the winery, where romantic music was playing and dozens of candles and roses decorated the space. When the blindfold was removed at the top of the stairs, Rachel she saw Jarred on bended knee at the bottom of the stairs. He asked her to marry him and of course she said yes! Summergrove estate was the couples chosen wedding venue and their beautiful day was captured by Rach Martin Photography. Rachel tells us that her favourite memory from the day was, walking down the aisle with her sister and her son to her waiting husband and husky dog. The couples advice to others planning, is to do what you want to do, it's your wedding day and the one time it is about the both of you, so ignore anyone that tries to take that focus away.

SHUSMITA & AARON Shusmita and Aaron, live in New York and were planning on spending christmas with their families who live in Sydney and Melbourne and decided that it would be the perfect time to have a small intimate destination elopement, with their nearest and dearest. Shusmita tells us that whilst she would have loved a big wedding, the idea of taking on another large project after just completing the renovations on their apartment, wasn't something that was viable for either of them and eloping just made more sense. When it came to flowers, Shusmita tells us that she had her heart set on kangaroo paw as her bouquet, as they reminded her of the garden she played in when she was growing up. Unfortunately, due to the season the local florists were unable to get stock, so she went to some nurseries the day before the wedding and brought enough plants with flowers to create a posy to carry. Her venue, Amble Inn B & B, were then able to take the plants and place them in their garden, a lovely memento for the couple to come back and see on future holidays. The couple haven't had their honeymoon yet and are aiming to do so at the end of the year. They also have plans for a larger celebration at some point down the road, perhaps for their anniversary. Their biggest piece of advice for other couples planning to elope, is to still make it a reflection of you as a couple, don't settle, take the time and make a little extra effort and get a great photographer so you have loads of amazing images to share with all your friends and extended family.

RACHEL & JESSE Jesse and Rachel met in 2013 when he came to Blackford house with his father. With both their fathers becoming friends and staying in the same house, it was inevitable that they would hang out. They spent the weekend experimenting with make your own flavour jelly and watching Star Trek movies and from that weekend on they became good friends. It wasn't until Jesse moved to Coffs Harbour in 2015 that they both realised how much they cared for each other. The proposal came in the August of 2017. On a rare occasion when they were both free before church, they decided to go for a headland sunrise walk. Rachel thought it was a spur of the moment plan but little did she know, Jesse had been planning the occasion for a while. He picked her up at 6am and she tells us that the sun wasn't up and neither was her brain!! Convincing her that it was a good idea, they set off and found a really magical site to sit and watch the sunrise. Jesse told her to stand up, turn around and face the sun for a really cool photo. Pretending to take the photo, he asked Rachel to turn around where she found him on one knee holding a beautiful white gold diamond ring and wearing the biggest smile Rachel had ever seen. Rachel says there was an insane amount of joy and excitement right there on that headland. The couple were married at Cedar Bar and Restaurant, in an intimate and beautiful ceremony with family and friends which was captured expertly by Henry Paul Photography.
