The Oakley Arms I’m not sure there is a better way to spend a brisk winters day than taking a leisurely amble around the park, before ending up in a cosy pub. Just a short drive in to the countryside brings you to Harrold, the country park is the perfect walking spot and the village is also home to one of the best local pubs. The Oakley Arms reopened earlier this year and it is better than ever. The food is truly fantastic, with a real focus on using local produce such as cheese from Bevistan Dairy and Harrold venison. The menu is elevated comfort food, think proper pies, beautifully cooked fish and freshly baked bread. I absolutely loved the bubble and squeak with thick cut bacon and a crispy egg. The venison pie was filled with flavour, served with the creamiest mash. I can’t not mention the creme brûlée, the perfect consistency served with biscuits still warm from the oven. There really is a fantastic array of choices on the menu, including a separate vegan menu. Open Tuesday to Sunday, there’s breakfast, lunch and dinner available. The bar is fully stocked and there’s cocktails too! Check out their website for more information.
