Music and Motors – Fantastic weekend of River Festival Fun on Bedford High Street

For the first time ever, Bedford High Street became part of the River Festival, hosting The One Hundred Motoring Display, co-ordinated by Bedford Festival of Motoring and sponsored by BedfordBID.
Over 100 classic and contemporary cars were exhibited along the High Street, in St Paul’s Square, and in Riverside’s Merchants Square. Up by the Silver Faces, BedfordBID played host to a very rare 1904 Ford Model C, a dazzling McClaren 720s supercar, and a real-life DeLorean with glowing flux capacitor! It was a treat for both young and old enthusiasts, with police ‘squaddy’ cars, a fleet of Minis and some impressive armoured vehicles, to name just a few!
For those in need of a quick rest and a delightful musical interlude, the Town Bridge offered a full, two-day programme of traditional, live music. The audience enjoyed their deck chairs and two-way river view, as Bands on the Bridge thrilled the ears. Brass bands came from Milton Keynes, Luton, Bedford and Hitchin. With added flavour from MD Sax’s Cool Band, Bedford Pipe as well as Lickerish All Sorts Clarinet.
“Many customers commented to me that it was such a fantastic thing to see and be a part of. Once again, we have cemented Bedford Town Centre in the minds of many ‘out-of towners’!” Martin Keys, Owner of Gallone’s Ice Cream Parlour, The Arcade
“The One Hundred Motor Display had such a great atmosphere, and brought new people into the shopping area on Silver Street. We loved welcoming customers as they dropped in during their festival day!” Amanda Oliver – Manager at The Body Shop, Silver Street
