INTRODUCTION

SITE ANALYSIS Located on a slope, the site boasts grand views of the city. The site allows the inhabitant, a former pilot, to connect to nature and experience “flying due to the height of the hill on which the site rests. In addition, the nature allows for a creative, open environment for another inhabitant.

EXPLORATION

SITE BENEFITS The site’s location is ideal for the prospective family. Dad has close proximity to Universal Studies (his work), mom to yoga classes and shopping, and school is just around the corner for their son.

14

15

EXPLORATION

INSPIRATIONAL OBJECT Looking at this family, their lifestyle and characteristics results in a synthesis of freedom and insecurity transformed into the shape of a faceted bird, ready to take off in flight.

16

17

EXPLORATION

KELIN BOTTLE HOUSE This faceted structure, with sharp edges and recurring reinforcement of forms reveals a secretive energy to the dwelling.

18

19

EXPLORATION

FORM EXPLORATION The location of the house, in this case on a hill, is essential to its design. Where the house faces the sun, how large its openings are, how the views are framed, and even how air and light are circulated must be included in the design approach.

20

21

EXPLORATION

CONCEPTUAL APPROACH The concept of insecurity and freedom through the anatomy of wire frames and plastic rope is explored through the stark juxtaposition of materials.

22

23

EXPLORATION

CONCEPTUAL CHARACTER As compensation for the insecurity of the structure, this simple and elegant, yet chaotic spiraling sculpture grows from a single point, expanding into freedom.

24

25

EXPLORATION

CONCEPT FINALIZATION This eclectic presentation of forms and material answer the question of how a person feels in an insecure and overly free space.

26

27

EXPLORATION

MATERIAL LIMITATION By narrowing down the choices of material to paper, the qualities of insecurity and freedom can be more thoroughly identified. This eclectic combination of shapes flatters the figure of the tree with free movement dictated by the wind.

27

28

EXPLORATION

TIME DIAGRAM Looking at the household occupants and their life style this diagram represents where each member of the family predict to be in the house in day time and from that we can undrestand to put emphesis in aerais where they spend most of their time.

29

30

EXPLORATION

PROCESS MODEL Taking the conceptual experience and turning it into reality involves fitting the structure into the side of the hill using the techniques of layering, overlapping, folding and ruffling.

31

IDENTITY APPLICATION
