Successful basketball coach. Community leader. Advocate for studentathletes. Those are a few of the descriptors Head of School Mark Anderson uses when speaking about Tyrone Perry, who succeeded Stan Waterman as Sanford’s boys’ basketball coach.

A 1999 graduate of the University of Delaware, where he played basketball for former head coach Mike Brey, Coach Perry is the Athletic Director and Teen Engagement Coordinator at the Clarence Fraim Boys and Girls Club. Ty has also served as the Executive Director of the McLaughlin Dream Chasers Program, which inspires and supports athletically gifted and primarily at-risk students to take another educational step beyond high school and realize their full potential as caring, productive, responsible citizens.

Sanford Director of Athletics Joan Samonisky notes, “It is a big responsibility to hire the right person to lead each of our Warrior sports teams. I am excited to have Tyrone Perry lead the Sanford boys’ basketball team following the departure of Stan Waterman. I feel we found the perfect fi t! Ty is a great addition to the Sanford School community, and we all wish him great success in this new era of Sanford basketball excellence.”
