Fall Back in Love with Your Skin By M. Roman Whether you enjoyed rooftop rendezvous, beautiful beaches, or a trip out to the Hamptons, the amazing days of summer are now behind us. Unfortunately, our skin takes a backseat to all the fun in the sun, so this fall I’m telling you about some products that will help you love the skin you’re in and bring it back to perfect, plumped, and nourished!

d’Alba is a brand that is luxurious, and I would dare say vital to your fall skincare routine. One of their products in particular is d'Alba Italian White Truffle First Aromatic Spray Serum ($35), which combines white truffle and avocado oil to help with anti-aging, improve moisture levels, and deliver a light finish and could be used before, during, or after makeup. I like to kick my routine off with a spritz of this, letting it nourish my skin and prep it for more products. Your skin will be doused in the most ultimate hydration, leaving you glowing without feeling sticky.

“Glowing” is a description I want to use all year round, and the brand glowoasis helps our skin do just that. I love their lightweight but powerful probiotics + hyaluronic complex hydrating gel ($45). With clean ingredients like vegan probiotics, triple hyaluronic acid complex, and gardenia extract, this gel moisturizer will help fight, dryness, dehydration, and dullness within your routine. As a day- or night-skin revitalizer, this one is great for my combination/oily skin without leaving me feeling greasy. My skin is instead balanced and quenched. Use it as a perfect prep before make-up application or to lock in moisture as you sleep.

Indeed Labs Nanobronze Bronzing Drops ($24.99) will restore that warm, just-got-backfrom-vacation look in seconds. Instantly bronze, blur, and hydrate skin during your morning routine. Add to your favorite moisturize and apply to your face or other areas for effortless warmth.

18

Everybody knows eyes are one of the main focuses of the face, and with the surrounding skin being the most sensitive and thin, you need a cream that’s hydrating to visibly reduce the signs of aging. A cream I am currently loving and your eyes will too is Arbonne DermResults Advanced Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid ($70). While it’s one of the pricier items on this list, it’s worth it thanks to ingredients to back it up such as hyaluronic acid, Botanical Alpinia Galanga Extract, and Gallate complex. I’ll break it down for us nonscientists…. When these ingredients are combined together in this rich, hydrating product, it leaves your under-eye skin appearing fuller and firmer while also helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The result: Keeping the skin barrier moisturized with an overall healthy appearance.

Something I always swear by is a potent and brightening vitamin C serum. Look no further with Nip & Fab Vitamin C Fix Extreme Concentrate ($26.95). Combined with ferulic acid—a versatile antioxidant that boosts effectiveness of vitamin C, skin-hydrating Allantoin, and Niacinamide, which helps to even skin tone and diminish pore size—this power-packed serum is definitely not one to miss!

The Power of Collaboration Latest LatestRetail RetailPartnership Partnership for forDune DuneJewelry Jewelry Expands ExpandsHorizons Horizonsin in Jewelry JewelryIndustry Industry By Jennifer DeCillis In the world of retail, next-level collaborations have emerged as a powerful tool for growth and innovation. One such inspiring collaboration is the partnership between Dune Jewelry CEO and Founder Holly Daniels Christensen and Infinity Jewelry CEO Rajesh Khemlani, retail partners who have embarked on an exciting venture together. Their joint endeavor, the Dune x Infinity "Shop In Shops," has taken root in five locations, including Tortola, Old San Juan, Nassau, Juneau, and Anchorage, as well as a sixth full-scale boutique location in Ketchikan. This grassroots networking and the willingness to go the extra global mile has opened doors to new possibilities and paved the way for deeper collaborative connections. Holly and Rajesh's partnership symbolizes the potential that lies within collaborations that operate on a deeper level. By combining their expertise and resources, they have harnessed the power of synergy and created a unique shopping experience for customers. This collaboration goes beyond mere business transactions, it exemplifies the spirit of thinking bigger, keeping an open mind, and taking a leap of faith. 30

Holly's vision for this partnership is based on the belief that it will provide incredible international exposure. Recognizing the potential for growth and success, she predicts that within three years, the collaboration with Infinity will generate over a million dollars in revenue. This optimism reflects the determination and ambition that fuels successful collaborations. The story of Holly and Rajesh's partnership began in October 2021 when they met at a trade show in Miami. Taking a chance on each other, Rajesh carried Dune Jewelry in a couple of his locations and initiated a meeting with Holly. Rajesh’s initial leap of faith set the stage for a fruitful partnership that has blossomed into something truly remarkable and mutually beneficial for both brands.

Infinity Jewelry CEO Rajesh Khemlani

Infinity Jewelry brings a wealth of experience and a rich family history in the retail industry. Since 1987, Rajesh has been involved in building and running his family’s businesses. Infinity Jewelry was born out of his passion for fine jewelry, offering duty-free savings, caring customer service, and an extensive inventory of GIA diamonds, gold jewelry, and renowned brands, such as Pandora, Maurice Lacroix, Hulchi Belluni, and of course, Dune Jewelry. Additionally, Rajesh aims to create a multi-location family business that caters to the diverse needs of travel customers in honor of his parents. Holly and Rajesh's journey serves as an inspiration to all entrepreneurs and business owners. As the two continue their retail partnership, their story proves that true innovation often lies at the intersection of diverse perspectives and shared goals. It is through collaboration that we can transcend boundaries, reach new audiences, and create something truly extraordinary.

After a couple of years, it evolved into a media agency that offers advertising creatives with advertising campaign management on digital platforms. Currently, my focus as a breast cancer survivor and entrepreneur is leveraging my creative services and voice to help create more flat representation in the fashion and TV industry. I partner with designers and brands to be more inclusive and increase flat visibility for women who have suffered from failed reconstruction and/or opted to go flat initially due to breast cancer. MOST REWARDING: Before breast cancer, it was seeing the growth of businesses I worked with. Lately, it is more about empowering women. It’s being a voice by using my platform to create awareness, offer style advice, and provide inspiration to women—especially those who have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Grow Your Glutes

Exercises to Shape, Lift & Tone Your Booty By Lori-Ann Marchese If you’re looking to get a shapely, bigger butt and physique like Jennifer Lopez, you better start working out, eating healthier, and focus on a variety of glute exercises. Our glutes are made of three different muscles: the gluteus maximus, the gluteus medius, and the gluteus minimus. That’s why it’s important to target all three areas to start the shaping process. Here are some top glute exercises to target all those angles of your glutes. The best part? You can do them at the gym and at home!

Top 3 Gluteus Maximus Exercises: 1. Squats Stand shoulder-width apart, toes facing front. Drive your hips back while lowering your body and bending your knees, keeping your chest up. Avoid leaning forward and keep your weight in the back of your heels. 2. Lunges Step forward and lower both knees to the ground while keeping your chest up, then return back to starting position. Psychology + Fashion By Geraldine “Gerry” Viggiani

Here are some easy ways you can incorporate fashion into your mental and self-care routine: CHECK YOUR VALUES Do things like sustainability and environmentally conscious sound important to you? Then choose items that are produced accordingly, as well as items that are timeless and fit well but are also high in quality, along with items that can be mixed and matched. This also can help free up valuable cognitive space as there is no need for endless outfit changes and you are living in your value system. COMMUNICATE A VIBE If fashion-forward is your thing, shop smartly. Have a few items you know fit into that idea. If you need a power outfit, shop for the basics and filter in brighter colors or bolder prints. If you are looking to be trendy, make sure the items you buy fit well and say what you are looking to say. Remember: There are many fashionable looks each season; choose ones that make you feel good and communicate the “vibe” you are intending. CHANGE YOUR MOOD Color can also work on your mood. Brighter colors like yellow and orange can cheer us up when we are feeling low; blue and green can help us to feel calm; and red and black can help us to feel powerful. Keep things simple if you’re seeking the peace from being uncomplicated or opt to stand out if it fulfills your need to express your individuality. In addition, textures can help keep us grounded, and cozy can help us feel safe. Most of all, have fun. Clothes and accessories are an extension of ourselves. They can make us feel good, help us to fit in or stand out, work toward improving our mood, and even communicate messages to others. 43

JOSE IBARRA: Fashion Mogul By Jonathan Calixto

Growing up in Guatemala, Jose Ibarra was taught from a young age by his mom, as he explains, “to have my own style and my own spark.” Little did he know that years later as a fashion brand consultant and publicist in Miami, CFO of Semana de la Moda in Guatemala, and CEO of Horizon Agency, he would inspire others to find what makes them unique. Over the last seven years, Jose has helped Latinx brands present at fashion weeks from New York to Miami. “I don’t work with brands I don’t believe in,” says Jose about how he connects with each brand and makes their project his own. Inspired by his own culture, he knows firsthand what it means to work, document, and learn from artisans of different areas in Guatemala. “I live every day in colors and am not ashamed of where I came from.”

Photography: Monica Molina - @mjmolinaphoto

With fashion influences like British singer, composer, and pianist Elton John, and most recently Spaniard influencer, Pelayo Diaz, Jose still makes sure to add his own touch to his trendy wardrobe. His most treasured fashion item is a pair of Alexander McQueen shoes. “These are the first shoes I bought because of a trend, and they have become so part of my life… I used them more than 365 times in two years.” As fashion evolves, so does Jose, and one thing he’s been proud to see the most growth in is his self-love. While trends come and go, he has found that the secret ingredient to standing out is his personality, sharing how he had to learn to love himself from the outside and love fashion from the inside. “The way I look in the mirror and express myself to the world is so powerful that I decided to be a statement.” With a busy schedule—his more recent endeavor is enrolling at Istituto Marangoni Miami: The Miami School of Fashion & Design—one thing's for sure, Jose is not stopping any time soon. “I prefer to hustle hard and take advantage of my 29 years,” he says, motivated by his passion. “God gave us 24 hours a day, so let’s spend our battery doing what we love and challenging ourselves to be better day by day.” As a fashion business student in Miami, even finding himself surrounded by peers in their early 20s, Jose feels more inspired than ever to show that there’s no time limit when it comes to chasing your dreams. “As long as I live, I will encourage people to follow their dreams because they are here for a reason.” As a fashionable man who seems to have it all from the outside looking in, Jose can’t yet speak about legacy because as he happily shares, “I feel like I just started living.” 50

“Everything Here Belongs to You” by Saborna Roychowdhury | Black Rose Writing Pushcart Prize nominee Saborna Roychowdhury’s latest novel tells a story of love, betrayal, and redemption set against the backdrop of India’s political history and rich culture. Here’s what readers can expect, in Roychowdhury’s own words: “In ‘Everything Here Belongs to You,’ a Bengali middle-class family employs 6-year-old Muslim village girl, Parul, as a servant after she loses her mother. Parul must abandon her faith and adopt Hindu practices to live in their house. Despite considering themselves generous saviors, the Sen family overlooks the hardships Parul endures—losing her mother, being forced into labor, and forsaking her identity. They treat her as inferior, limiting her education and social interactions. Their growing classism drives Parul to betray them. I want the readers to ask themselves: How would they treat someone different? Are there entrenched class divisions? Should prosperity be confined to a privileged few?”

The Power of Personal Style How to Create a Dating Wardrobe That Reflects Your Personality By Carmelia Ray

In the world of dating and matchmaking, first impressions are everything. From the moment you walk into a room, your appearance speaks volumes about who you are, your personality, and even your mood. Dressing is not just about looking good; it's about feeling confident and comfortable in your skin and potentially attracting people and opportunities. You radiate authenticity and confidence when you dress in a way that aligns with your personality and values. It's essential to embrace and create a unique style to transform your dating and professional life. Here’s how…

Make a Statement

Expressing Your Identity Online Clothing is a powerful form of self-expression. It allows you to showcase your unique personality, interests, and values without saying a word. When you dress authentically, you clearly message potential partners about who you are and what you stand for. I turned to Melissa Austria, owner of Gotstyle (Gotstyle.com @gotstylemen + @gotstylewomen) to see what advice she would pass along to a woman interested in finding clothes that match her personality... "There's a misconception that all women like to shop or are born with style,” Melissa explains. “To help find your style, start with a Pinterest board of celebrities and looks you're drawn to then go to a local boutique (like Gotstyle), where the stylists can try different looks on you to see what resonates. Leave your perceptions at the door and allow yourself to try things you normally wouldn't. Only when you ‘play’ with clothes can you determine how you want them to represent you!" Establishing personal style in dating and relationships is so important. It’s like your calling card to the world, she says. “If you're sloppy and don't care about what you wear, it's setting a tone and giving clues for how you'll be in a relationship. Think of the personality of someone who's a minimalist dresser (concise, to the point) vs, someone who's a maximalist dresser (outgoing, extravagant).”

In a sea of generic styles, embracing your personal style sets you apart from the crowd. When you dress uniquely and authentically, you create an immediate visual impact that captures attention, explains Mikayla Mercer, who serves as the in-house stylist for my brand, CarmeliaRay.com “How you dress and carry yourself represents who you are,” says Mikayla. "If you're somebody with a bubbly personality, what you wear usually matches that. You might cover up more than someone else would if you're a modest or conservative person. In my generation, what you wear is everything!” This uniqueness can be a powerful magnet for the right partner who appreciates your individuality. Instead of conforming to societal norms, use your unique style as a tool to flaunt your true self.

Building Connection through Your Wardrobe When two people share a mutual appreciation for each other's personal style, it creates an instant connection. Similar aesthetics and fashion tastes can serve as a foundation for building a deeper bond with a potential partner. This common fashion ground can accelerate interest in getting to know someone on a deeper level. Remember, love begins with self-acceptance, and your dating wardrobe is a powerful way to reflect your personality through your color, style, fabric, texture, and brand choices. Have fun, and don't be shy to express yourself through your wardrobe!

For example, if you're a free-spirited, bohemian soul, dressing in flowy fabrics and earthy colors will showcase your natural aura. On the other hand, bold prints and sequin skirts paired with spiky stilettos paint an entirely different picture.. 54 Photography: Courtesy of @gotstyle @gotstylewomen

Step into the world of fashion, beauty, and creativity as we sit down with the iconic Nigel Barker, a name most of you recognize from the famous TV show, “America’s Next Top Model,” which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. For 17 seasons, Nigel has graced our screens as a prominent judge on the beloved series alongside the iconic Tyra Banks, making an indelible mark on pop culture, fashion, and beauty worldwide. But Nigel's accomplishments extend far beyond his role on reality TV or photography. With his keen insight and natural abilities, he has transformed various industries, effortlessly moving from photography to directing, producing, writing, furniture and fragrance design, and more. Simultaneously, he dedicates himself to philanthropy, leaving a profound positive impact and inspirational legacy through his remarkable talents. In BELLA’s exclusive interview, Nigel shares the stories beyond the lens, giving us a glimpse into the world of fashion and photography that he's masterfully navigated, the industry developments he has witnessed throughout his career, and what new ventures await in the future. Take us on a quick journey through your remarkable career, shedding light on how you transitioned from photography to becoming a significant presence in various creative projects.

W

I never intended on becoming a model, rather ironically I fell into it after my mother entered me into a televised model search in 1989. Instead of heading straight to college, I took a year off to try my hand at modeling to make a little money and see the world. One year led to two, which led to several more, and instead of a university life, I experienced the ‘School of Life.’ After six or so years traveling and living in cities like Paris, Milan, London, and New York, it became increasingly obvious that a modeling career wasn’t sustainable for me. I am a big guy at 6’4” and as the mid-nineties approached, ushering in the era of androgyny and heroin chic, I knew I would have to pivot. As it happened, I had always been a creative person and had studied fashion design, tailoring, weaving, and pattern-cutting, as well as photography at high school. So, it was pretty clear from working as a model that I would be more fulfilled and have greater staying power if I transitioned from one side of the lens to the other. For several years I did both modeling and photography, and because of my experience as a model I was able to use that knowledge to help empathize with my subjects and help them relax in front of my lens. Then, of course, came “America’s Next Top Model” (ANTM), the perfect show for me as it was exactly how I got my big break many moons before. Every day on ANTM was a learning experience. It was impressive to watch and learn how to produce an episode of the show, each week and every cycle getting more efficient, streamlined, and better. From Tyra Banks I learned to multitask; her ability to wear both producer and talent hats was amazing. She oversaw every detail of the show and simultaneously worked as the host and ran her businesses. She inspired me to do the same. One of my big takeaways from that experience was that if you commit and do the work, great things are possible. The sky is the limit; if you can dream it, do it! I have tried to never pigeon-hole myself into one creative arena and strived daily to challenge myself, from writing books to creating skateboards and photo booths, designing my own furniture line and fragrances, opening gyms like the DogPound, and directing documentaries and TV commercials to understanding that as a creative leader I can work for any type of company, directing the overall creative direction from marketing to advertising and everything in between.

Can you share what the 20th anniversary of “America’s Next Top Model” and your time on the show has meant to you and your career? Twenty years of “America’s Top Model” and the show is still on everybody’s lips and TV! At its height, the show aired in over 150 countries and was syndicated to over 50 more with shows like "Germany’s Top Model” hosted by Heidi Klume. I was lucky enough to work on 18 cycles of the show and as a permanent judge on 17 seasons. Hundreds of models came on the show, and many went on to greatness in various arenas of fashion and entertainment. I am proud of what we created and was honored to have had the opportunity to travel the world working and learning with the team the whole time. Every day someone will tell me they grew up watching ANTM and how it had an indelible effect on their lives, from photographers who were inspired to pick up a camera because of our zany shoots and fashionistas who discovered a passion for fashion from our weekly antics to just everyday people who used the show as a bonding experience with their mothers or groups of friends as they gathered every Wednesday evening for a guilty pleasure! In effect, an entire generation was touched by the show whether they wanted to be or not. We were even written into a “South Park" episode and immortalized by Missy Elliot! How has your talent and experience in the fashion and entertainment industries allowed you to contribute to various charitable organizations? What inspired you to engage in humanitarian work, and can you share some specific initiatives or projects that have been particularly meaningful to you? I have always felt compelled to do something if I see a problem, either directly or indirectly. Whether granting wishes for the MakeA-Wish Foundation, highlighting the brilliance of the athletes in the Special Olympics, helping with digital strategy for the USO to creating PSAs for the Humane Society or lobbying government to change legislation for the Girl Up foundation, there is no issue I feel is too great or too small to help out if and when I can. As a photographer and filmmaker, I believe I’m equipped to help most organizations tell their story through imagery. Seeing is believing and anyone can wax poetic on a subject, but with film or an image, viewers can make up their mind about what’s happening and if it moves them. I was particularly honored to film an awardwinning documentary for the Humane Society called “A Sealed Fate” that had a worldwide release and ended up helping shape policy in the EU. Your portfolio is truly impressive. What exciting projects do you have in the pipeline? I will always be a photographer and most new assignments I take on have at least an element of photography. However, during the pandemic, I created a podcast called “Shaken & Stirred,” which discusses the legends, rumors, and myths of cocktail culture and alcohol at large. The podcast is now becoming a TV show of the same name, which is like a travel bar crawl! I am also creating a new line of canned cocktails that hit shelves this fall. There is an “art of” to everything you do, so no matter what rocks your world, look for the art form, learn to master it, and success will follow.

Chiara Boni: Elegance Redefined By Alexandra Anastasio FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHIARA BONI

63

Known for her timeless and elegant designs, Chiara Boni is one of the most successful Italian designers and fashion entrepreneurs. From the beautiful designs, bold colors, and sheer comfort—thanks in part to the eco-friendly stretch fabrics—it’s no surprise Chiara is an icon of style and a trusted name in the fashion industry. From red carpets to TV appearances, her designs have been worn by some of the biggest names on television. “Dressing Oprah Winfrey was a moment of immense pride for me,” says Chiara. “She is an opinion leader, confident, and one of the most influential women.” Born and raised in Florence, Italy, Chiara’s love of fashion began as a child. Visiting the French ateliers with her mother had a profound effect on her, and in 1971, she opened her first boutique, You Tarzan Me Jane. For a young girl who dreamed of one day becoming a fairy with the ability to transform everything she touched into beauty and goodness, Chiara has accomplished that dream with the designs she creates. BELLA caught up with the stunning designer to learn more about her entrepreneurial journey, her commitment to creating sustainability in her designs, and of course, talk about all things fashion! In what ways does fashion inspire you? Fashion’s colors, shapes, lightness, and fluidity inspire me; through it, I can understand the current zeitgeist. Creativity requires continuous inspiration. What unexpected sources of inspiration have influenced your designs in surprising ways? My sources of inspiration are many: art, culture, harmony, and the ability to observe. Sometimes a small movement caught from the corner of the eye or small gestures made by strangers turns into shapes. I believe that most new creations come from past ideas, renewed in their shapes. Your designs are known for their sophistication and elegance. How do you balance creating timeless pieces while staying innovative in the ever-changing fashion world? I create a perfect balance between a continuous look to the future and my timeless, classic style. From sketch to runway, what is your creative process like? The process that leads to the creation of a dress, from the first sketch to the runway, consists of a variety of important steps. The most important one for me is when the sketch is shared with the pattern maker who interprets it and creates the first sample. This step is fundamental because for every sketch there can be endless interpretations, like music notes for a musician. At the end of the creative process when the entire collection is ready, I present a story made of the dresses that have touched my heart. As we approach Fall Fashion Week, can you share a bit about your upcoming fall collection? My Fall/Winter 2024 collection draws inspiration from Helmut Newton’s sharp and sensual images of “victorious women.” It features impeccable silhouettes and a concise color palette mainly focused on black and illuminated by touches of winter white and azalea, enhancing the precision of the shapes and putting seduction in the spotlight.

As an entrepreneur and creative mind, what are some challenges you’ve faced in building and growing your brand, and how did you overcome them? Establishing Chiara Boni La Petite Robe wasn’t easy. It is the culmination of many years of research into the use of stretch fabrics and a long career in the fashion industry. For many years I had a great, prosperous relationship with Gruppo Finanziario Tessile, using the brand name Chiara Boni, until I eventually reacquired my name from them in 2003. I knew that to re-enter the market I would have to find a unique idea and be able to manage it on my own. Finally, in 2007, I launched Chiara Boni La Petite Robe.

Your brand emphasizes sustainability, and you became the first Italian womenswear company to obtain the PEF (Product Environmental Footprint) European certification. Can you share more about PEF and the steps you’ve taken to incorporate eco-friendly practices into your design process? I take pride in being the first Italian designer to obtain the PEF certification for Chiara La Petite Robe. Obtaining this certification was quite simple for us, as we have been committed to sustainable production methodologies for years. Our supply chain is very short, localized between Piedmont and Tuscany, proudly 100% made in Italy while using primarily one fabric, making it easier to trace. Still, there is always room for improvement, and we are studying how to upcycle our fabric scraps as well. Fashion can play a role in empowering individuals. How do you aim to empower and inspire the women who wear your designs? The women who wear my dresses are powerful and confident. It’s a matter of a strong attitude and my dresses emphasize it. Fashion possesses the remarkable potential to drive positive transformation. Are there particular social or philanthropic causes that hold a special place in your heart? How do you foresee your brand making a meaningful contribution to these causes? There are many social causes close to my heart, and in my own small way, I try to do my best to contribute to them. In particular, the ones I support most frequently are those that accompany women in the fight against breast cancer. What advice would you give aspiring designers looking to make their mark in the industry? The most important advice I offer aspiring designers is to remain humble and learn from everyone. Even after over 50 years in the industry, I continue to discover and learn every day.
