all brings a number of things we are thankful for, family, friends, health and a bountiful harvest. Again this year we can be thankful for exception cattle prices at the Auction Barn and a demand for top quality Angus cattle. As seedstock producers the Angus cow has become backbone of most of North America’s cowherd. Angus cattle can be a lot of things and offer many tools that are useful to the beef industry and that goes from pasture to plate. The demand for cattle that can fit all sectors of the business puts Angus in the driver seat as it already has for many years. As consumers the prevalence of Angus can be seen in most restaraunts and anywhere where beef is sold, its synonymous with a valued, healthy eating experience. This will not change! In regards to the offering which makes up 2015 Bluewater lineup we have a fantastic set to present to you. Cattle selected right off the top of the herds are coming to town for October 17th. Breed leading genetics carrying the top Angus bloodlines that will not only catch eyes in the showring but most important become profitable functional cattle in the pasture. Isn’t that what it’s all about, if they aren’t going to make it out on grass we have fallen short. The consignors are coming to town proud of their genetic stamps that will be on offer, as you thumb through the cattle this becomes apparent. Better yet come Friday the 16th to Hanover to preview the sale cattle and visit with those that have bred and raised these cattle. Saturday morning the cattle will again be on display for you viewing pleasure with a complimentary lunch prior to the sale. If you are unable to attend the Bluewater Sale feel welcome to give any of the consignors, sales staff or Mike or myself at Castlerock Marketing and we would be more then happy to go over the sale offering to fit your needs and wants. See you sale day!

O
n behalf of the board I would like welcome and invite you to our 68th consecutive Bluewater sale.It is a great time to be in the cattle business. In this part of the country feed is plentiful and cheap. It is the right time to cull hard and deep. Replacing those older cows has never made more dollars and cents. There really is something for everybody here including the commercial breeder looking to start a registered herd.Shane has worked hard to select only the best lots from the consignors. The consignors have done an amazing job at presenting this group for your evaluation. You can be confident these cattle will do a great job for you. Thanks for your partipation and enjoy the times.

Here is one of the top cow prospects from our 2015 calves. She’s from the famous Emblynette cow family and from the proven female making sire Connealy Final Product. Her granddam is a top producing member of the exceptional group of 10 daughters of SAV Emblynette 7260 at North Perth and is a full sister to the dam of Semex sire, SAV International 2020. She is massive bodied with lots of rib. You won’t find many heifers that will out power this female. She weighed 840 lbs on August 11th.

Anyone who has visited North Perth will know that these Barbara females are sacred and are the cornerstone of our herd. Her dam is a direct daughter of the 232 cow and the very first ET calf produced by North Perth. A very nicely patterned heifer with a feminine front end and excellent shape through her hind quarter. Her young dam is due in January with another heifer calf or you wouldn’t see this heifer offered for sale. Weighed 722 lbs on August 11th.

We travelled to the Denver stockshow in January of 2014 and while touring the bull pens we could not get enough of the EXAR Claasen 1422B sired calves. We could not get that semen in Canada, therefore we did the next best thing and purchased a son out of Express’s Bull sale last March. Our new herd sire EXAR C & C Tuition 3025 has more than LOT 3 impressed us with his first set of calves on the ground who show style, body and most of all low birth weights. 12C is a February calf that has stood out from the beginning and we couldn’t be happier to share our breeding with fellow cattlemen in the Angus industry. Remtiall 695S is by far our deepest, wide bodied cow in our herd and we have kept many daughters. Style, structure and disposition is what you will find with this heifer. Halter broke and ready to show, watch for her this fall. Halter broke and ready to show!

Magic 6C comes from one of our favorite cow families and descends from one of two Royal Winter Fair grand champion females we had from the Magic family. WAF Zorzal 321U, from Argentina genetics topped the Remington dispersal at $75,000, and has proven to be a consistent sire of powerful bulls and females that have topped several sales across Canada. A full brother to this power heifer was our highest selling bull in 2014. This calf will work.

This is an attractive heifer out of a two-year-old that has a beautiful udder, and has done a great job on her first effort. Glen Islay Eston 50A bred our heifers as a yearling, maintained his condition and ended the year working for Jordan Tran in Orillia. This calf has a great temperment and would make a good junior project.

Mama cow here! 510 is from a very strong maternal family that originated at the famous Thomas Angus Ranch in Oregon. Her sire is a bull we are very excited about he was our pic of the 2013 calf crop at Paradise Angus an his maternal granddam is without question the most famous angus cow of the modern era Stiz Everelda Entense 1137. 510 is a moderate easy fleshing female. There is usually never guarantees in the cow business, but I’ll guaranteed this one has a great udder as her dam and granddam are our best uddered cows.

6C is a medium framed calf that can do it all. She is a fancy calf that brings carcass traits to the forefront and if the cows in her pedigree mean anything she will make an awesome cow. Upshot makes them fancy and 6C is no exception. She is halter broke.

Check out 7C. She is one of the oldest International’s and definitely one of the first and only ones to sell this fall. International is going to be one of the go-to SAV up and coming sires to use. He makes them deep, wide and thick. 7C certainly fits the bill. Her dam was the lead-off animal in last year’s Bluewater sale and is a full sister to Peak Dot Resolute. This calf hits all the high spots and is halter broke and ready to show.

Take a look at this heifer on sale day, she is really coming on strong and lots of potential. Her dam is one of our deepest cows we have and a very moderate framed cow as well, a Tiger female and also the dam of Melmac Density 1B which some of you will see in the show circuit this year. 5Cs sire, JL Carbon Copy 1407, is a heavy muscled bull that is leaving us calves just like this. She will make an excellent addition to anyones herd.

For a number of years the dam of 4C, Remitall Kim 879S has successfully produced daughters for our herd and continually are the strongest in the heifer pen. Therefore in 2014 we made the decision to flush her and we were fortunate enough to have 3 direct daughters this LOT 10 year, therefore we are offering one for sale. Our “Kim” family is growing and we have successfully showed a number of daughters by her with our most recent accomplishment of Hammell 879S Kim 4Z as Champion Senior Female last year at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair as a 2 yr old with her heifer calf. We are offering 4C to this sale as we know she will have a long show career ahead of her, but more importantly is going to make an excellent cow. 4C has all of the makings for a deep bodied, wide topped, easy keeping female and is an investment you don’t want to miss. Watch for her in our showstring this fall. Whether you are a junior looking for a 4-H project next year or a purebred breeder looking to enhance your herd, mark this heifer in the sale book because she is definitely hard to part with. What could be the most intriguing part of this package is the service she carries, she is bred to Vin Mar Johnny Cash who was the sensation of the Cash sons in Denver 2014. Something special here. Camilla Bandolier 49B is recognized as one of the all time best breeding bulls ever produced in Canada, and his semen sold for $600 per dose in the Remington dispersal. He left great producing females at both Green’s Angus in Manitoba and Topp Hill Farms in the U.S.A. The dam of this heifer was a choice of the herd from the highly regarded Ronan program, and became a donor female at Remington with a phenomenal 55 progeny recorded. We really like the fleshing ability, the broodiness, and the structure of this moderate frame heifer, that will be a valuable breeding asset as she matures. Observed bred April 14 to Glen Islay Bandolier 13B, examined safe.

This is a powerful made straight Canadian heifer with a little extra bone and substance on a great foot. We bought the dam of this heifer from Brandl’s in Alberta partly because she is intensely line bred to both Lamb’s Overdrive and Wandering Creek Dynasty 2F, who are both great maternal sires. We are really pleased with the progeny of our Rocky 8Z bull, and this heifer shows the power and performance that he passes on. The service sire on these Glen Islay heifers is our newest up and coming herd sire that not only is an impressive individual but is breed leader for tenderness, and will play a large role in our future. Observed bred April 25 to Glen Bandolier 13B. Examined safe.

Our consignment to the Blue Water Sale is very uniform, and represents several of the sires we use. Glen Islay Marshall 24Z is being used across Canada, in the U.S.A. and Australia. His sire was in our opinion the best breeding bull to leave Canada in the 1970’s. The dam of this lot is a highly productive cow that raised twin bulls that both made the bull barn and are working at Gwillimdale Farm, and for Valerie Brown. Mayflower 53S has three sisters in our herd and is the mother of a $8000 bull in the Canadian Legacy Sale. The service sire is a son of the $37,000 Sealin Creek Eric 5Y. For anyone who went to the Eastern Angus sale in Campbelford this spring, here is another heifer that looks a lot like the heifer we sold there. Director Don Hargrave 6B has a very quiet disposition, and will be a real good cow. Her dam 5Y is just one of many Miss Echo females we have in our herd, and she Ontario Angus Association Director Allan Hargrave has plenty of thickness and an udder we all strive to have in our females. Again a JL Carbon Copy female, but with calves like we are getting it is hard not to keep using him. 6B is like her dam, an easy doing female, having been on pasture all summer and looking like she was fed grain all along. Here is a cow stacked with some of the breeds greatest; 6595 Bando 155 and Fullback. 3U is a large frame cow with lots of volume, very angular feminine female and a well-made udder with lots of milk. This cow family is made with longevity and its make up as the dam 9H lived until she was 15-years-old and weaned 13 calves. Bred April 20th to EXAR Upshot, the Upshot progeny are naturally thick muscled calves. Preg checked safe to AI service.

It is always tough to let Pioneer daughters leave First Line, but you have to let the good ones go sometimes. Like most Pioneer daughters, Countess 13C is stout, very correct, and lots of style. Another attribute of Pioneer is his great disposition and certainly is evident in this daughter. She will make a great 4-H project for 2016.

40Z is an excellent young cow from the Rosebud cow family that came from the Dodswood herd while under Glen Copelands tutelage. Rosebud 40Z definitely has some frame, volume, and very sound skeletal correctness. Bred July 3rd to First Line Unanimous 12B, a bull that very much resembles his sire. Preg checked safe to AI service.

First Line Marie 31Z is a moderate size cow, but what she may lack in frame she certainly makes up for in correctness and style. The excellent udder exhibited by 31Z comes from both sides of her pedigree. The Marie’s are noted for great udder structure and our herd sire Kodiak 8X has left a great bunch of young females all stamped with beautiful fore and rear udder attachments and nice teat size. This young cow will be a herd builder. Bred May 12th to PA Fortitude 2500. Preg Checked Safe to AI service.

What an exciting young female Marie 31C is! These Fortitude calves are as clean made as the pedigree that comes with her. We used Fortitude for the numbers he has right across the board and how could he not with the legends of bulls in his lineage. Make sure you check her out!
