Belle Plaine Man Charged With Felony Domestic Assault
A Belle Plaine man is due in Scott County District Court Friday morning (June 1) to face felony charges for assaulting the mother of his two children. Jaguar D. Woods, was recently arrested and released after posting bail -- $3,000 bail or $25,000 bond. He must avoid contact with the woman and can’t leave the state without the court’s permission. The felony charge stems from an incident on May 23 where police were called to the 200 block of South Elm Street shortly before 8 p.m. Woods, 19, and a woman with whom he fathered two children were arguing after she asked him for help with one of the children while she bathed them. The criminal complaint said Woods began yelling at the woman and insulted her and his mother, who was in the kitchen. The charge says he grabbed the
woman, who was holding one of the two children, by the neck and shoved her against a wall. The push caused the woman to hit her head against the wall. Fearing for her life, the woman called to Woods’ mother for help. The elder woman entered the room and ordered her son to stop. When he refused, she struck him with a wooden table, breaking it. Woods fled the house when his mother called police. Officers found evidence of the struggle in the house. The charge says the younger woman had a “softball size” red mark on her chest, just below her neck. Police found and arrested Woods about a half-hour later walking near Oakwood Circle and Robert Circle. He is charged with a felony because of previous domestic assault convictions within the past few years, the most recent in February of 2010.
