Wrestling (continued from page 10) While a tournament full of Panthers bonus points had helped give them a 2.5 point lead, they now had to watch as Waconia sent Owen Hemze and Jed Waligoski to the mat in their matches for seventh place at 160 and 182, respectively. Hemze was the first up at 160 and won seventh place and one more Wildcat team point that brought Waconia to within 1.5 team points of Scott West. Waligoski had to settle for eighth place as he lost his match, which left Scott West with a narrow 1.5 lead as the Panthers were preparing to send their sophomore 195-pounder Tyler Buesgens to the mat for a third place match. Buesgens had narrowly missed the championship round himself as he dropped a 4-2 overtime decision to Moorhead’s Samuel Grove. However, Buesgens bounced back with an 11-6 win over Faribault’s Felipe Ramirez in the consolation semifinal round. He then recorded an overtime victory over Minot Bishop’s Jordan Will to earn third place and secure the Rumble on the Red team championship for Scott West. The Panthers will be back in action at Watertown-Mayer

The driver of a vehicle stopped at 11:42 p.m. near the intersection of South Linden and East Prairie streets for an errant right turn was arrested for fourth-degree DWI. Sunday, Jan. 3 A person on the 100 block of East Park Street called for medical help at 7:17 a.m. A man was transported to an area hospital.

The week of Dec. 28-Jan. 3, Belle Plaine firefighters responded to the calls that included: Monday, Dec. 28 A person on the 300 block of East Orchard Street reported an oven fire at 8:26 p.m. The fire was out before firefighters arrived. Thursday, Dec. 31 Firefighters were dispatched to an area near the intersection of Farmers Ridge Trail and Century Street at 1:35 p.m. A person suffered minor injuries in a snowmobile accident. The person was transported to an area hospital.
