County HHW Facility Close May 28 The Scott County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility will be closed on Saturday, May 28 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend. The HHW Facility will reopen for normal operation on Wednesday, June 1. The RE-USE Room will also be closed on Saturday. The Scott County HHW Facility is located at 588 Country Trail East (Highway 282), just one-half mile west of the intersection of highways 13 and 282, and County Road 17. The HHW Facility is normally open on Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m., Thursdays from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. The RE-USE Room is also open on these same days, but it does close 15 minutes earlier than the facility. The HHW Facility will ac-

cept your hazardous chemicals (including paint, stain, varnish, paint stripper, solvents, household cleaning chemicals, automotive chemicals, yard and garden pesticides, mercurycontaining devices, spray cans, etc.), as well as other problem materials such as electronics, appliances, and tires. The Scott County HHW program is planning an expansion project later this year that will allow the facility to serve Scott County residents more efficiently and safely. However, this project may impact the HHW operational schedule this fall by causing some facility closures. Visit www.scottcountymn. gov/HHW for the latest construction updates and schedules, as well as more information on proper HHW management in Scott County.

Registration Being Accepted for Carver County Bike Event Bike Konnect is a fresh summer event, and you are invited. Round up the family and get those bikes tuned up for the third annual Bike Konnect event on Saturday, June 18. The cities of Chaska and Victoria parks and recreation departments and the Carver County Parks Department are working together to Konnect families, Konnect trails and Konnect communities through this family bike ride and summer kickoff event. The Bike Konnect family fun ride starts at 9 a.m. on June 18 in Victoria at the Southwest Regional trailhead located near the Victoria House. It ends at Chaska’s Fireman’s Park located next to the Chaska Curling and Event Center in downtown Chaska. Instead of being a bike race, Bike Konnect is designed to be a leisurely ride so participants can enjoy traveling along the regional and local city trail systems that connect the two communities. There will be convenient rest areas in local city parks along the way. Riders are expected to complete the ride by 11 a.m. Once riders have arrived at Fireman’s Park, they will en-

joy a fun summer picnic atmosphere, including live music and activities such as log rolling, bounce house and archery. They’ll have a chance to win prizes sponsored by Michael’s Cycles in Chaska and enjoy a light lunch at the finish line. The early bird registration fee of $15 per person is good through June 4. After the early bird registration deadline, registration fees are $20 per person. Registration includes a T-shirt, a light lunch, access to all the finish line activities and transportation (if needed) from the finish line in Chaska back to the start line in Victoria. You can register at: www. chaskacommunitycenter.com or www.ci.victoria.mn.us/. Assistance with registration is available by calling 952-4485633. Please note that bikes and riding gear will not be supplied for this event. Participants must come prepared with a bike and helmet. Helmets will be required; if you need to purchase a helmet, they will be for sale at the check-in booth for $10. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Carver County Parks, Victoria Parks Department or Chaska Parks and Recreation for more information.
