It’s been many years since the Tigers’ season ended short of the sub-section semi-ďŹ nals. But Belle Plaine found itself preparing for the off-season after Thursday’s 3-0 loss at Southwest Christian. “While our ďŹ nal record, 11-16, was below .500, we did improve and have built a foundation for next season,â€? said coach Rich Foust. The Tigers fell to the Stars, 3-0, Oct. 26. The set scores were 14-25, 22-25, 25-27. Belle Plaine had Southwest Christian on the ropes in the second set, leading by nine points before the Stars rallied to win the set. The Tigers were serving for a win in the third set, but again the veteran Southwest Christian team rallied. The Tigers have faced Southwest Christian four times this year, enjoying only one victory. Belle Plaine faced the Stars Oct. 21 in the ďŹ nal round of the Bloomington Jefferson tournament. “We had a good game plan against Southwest Christian, but our opponents played well and we have to give them credit,â€? Foust said. “We had opportunities in sets two and three. They are a taller team and were more consistent in their attacks than we were. They also serve received much better than earlier this season when we were able to beat them.â€? The Tigers expect to be a
stronger, more experienced team next year. They will only lose senior hitter Brittany Teal off its 11-player varsity roster. “We will miss her leadership, but hopefully others will be ready to step up next season, Foust said. 2017 BPHS Volleyball Results Aug. 29: Jordan 3, BP 2 Sept. 7: BP 3, TCU 0 Sept. 12: BP 3, LS-H 1 Sept. 14: Mayer Luth. 3, BP 0 Sept. 19: New Prague 3, BP 0 Sept. 21: Central (NYA) 3, BP 0 Sept. 22-23: AA Showcase BP 2, Kason-Mantorville 1 BP 2, Rocori 0 BP 2, Holy Angels 1 Southwest Christian 2, BP 0 Morris Area/Chokio 2, BP 0 Sept. 26: Glen-SLake 3, BP 2 Oct. 3: BP 3, SW Christian 0 Oct. 5: Sibley East 3, BP 2 Oct. 9: BP 3, Mankato West 2 Oct. 10: Chaska 3, BP 2 Oct. 12: Jordan 3, BP 2 Oct. 14: Bloom.
