CITY OF BELLE PLAINE ORDINANCE NO. 17-11 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 313.00 OF THE CITY CODE (REFUSE HAULERS), SECTION 313.01 (LICENSE REQUIRED) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BELLE PLAINE THAT THE CITY CODE BE AMENDED AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 313.01 of the City Code is hereby amended as follows (deletions shown as strikeouts/additions shown as bold and underline): 313.01. LICENSE REQUIRED. Residential refuse haulers are required to obtain a Refuse Hauling license from the City offices. The license shall be issued each January 1 at a fee as set by Section 108 of this Code. The City shall issue no more than three (3) Refuse Hauling licenses. Section 2. This ordinance shall be effective upon adoption and publication in accordance with applicable law. Runners and cyclists of all ages interested in a challenging and attractive course along the scenic Minnesota River are encouraged to participate in the annual Scenic Byway River Run Saturday, Oct. 14. The day features several fun events for runners, cyclists and families. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with “Tour De Brew,� a 13.1mile bike ride along the same route as the Scenic Byway HalfMarathon. The ride includes the rolling hills overlooking the river from Belle Plaine to Blakeley via the north side of the Minnesota River and back to Belle Plaine on the south side of the meandering river.
A children’s fun run begins at 8:45 a.m. The half-mile run for youngsters begins at the halfmarathon’s ofďŹ cial start-ďŹ nish line. Parents are welcome to run with their youngsters. The main event of the day, the chip-timed USATF-certiďŹ ed half-marathon, begins at Court Square Park at 9 a.m. The course then takes runners along Minnesota’s Scenic Byway with rolling hills and stunning views. Half-marathoners will then run back through the historic Avenue of the Trees and Blakeley village until a gradual climb takes them back to the ďŹ nish line in Belle Plaine. If 13.1 miles is too far, a twoperson relay is also available. It

Belle Plaine ďŹ reďŹ ghters and a Ridgeview Ambulance crew responded just after 4 p.m. Friday (Sept. 22) to a report of a Minnetonka man, Timothy Spears, crashing his motorcycle while heading northeast on Carver County Road 40 near its intersection with County Road 52 in San Francisco Township. Spears, 31, told deputies a gust of wind altered his pathway from the asphalt to the gravel shoulder and he rode into the ditch, crashing on the embankment. He was injured in the crash and was transported to St. Francis by Ridgeview Ambulance. Spears was not wearing a helmet.
