ASR-BSI

Belize Sugar Industries Limited (BSI) has its roots in the Corozal Sugar Factory (CSF) Ltd., established in 1938. Tate and Lyle PLC, in 1963, acquired the CSF and renamed it Belize Sugar Industries Limited and four years later, in 1967, opened the sugar factory at Tower Hill, Orange Walk. The original Corozal Sugar Factory, located at Libertad Village, was closed in 1985 and production was consolidated at the Tower Hill Sugar Factory. Following the strategic investment in October 2012 by American Sugar Refining, Inc. (ASR), BSI has benefited significantly from investments to improve factory performance and to increase the production capacity for direct consumption sugars. BSI is a sustainable and innovative company committed to growth, continuous improvement, the community, and the environment in which it operates.
