CAPTAIN’S LETTER Ramon Ruis In the last few months, the pandemic scenario has gotten worse in Brazil. The number of people passing away and people waiting in hospital lines have the records broken everyday due to lack of preparation and precautions from people about COVID-19. So, in this situation, we from B’Energy Racing have returned 100% to our home office and remote activities schedule, giving a break to the car manufacture, that was being worked on with reduced active members for essential activities only. Also, we decided as a team not to focus on the international competition on the US anymore, since the American borders are still closed for us, even more during the phase we are going through. Unfortunately, these decisions are necessary in order to help our situation in this pandemic. Even though we are at home, we are working just as hard to develop our project and get the best results at the national competition. Wear masks, and keep yourself safe.

STM32 FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES Guilherme Chaguri

An electric vehicle requires a high-performance system, capable of controlling the torque in real-time, robust, by minimizing the risk of failures, and integrable to complex systems. The STM32 microcontrollers solve all these issues. Because of that, we've decided to use them in our new electronics project. Our main criteria on choosing the MCU model was the availability of the CAN bus peripheral, which is the main communication method used between all components in the project. We were impressed with the number of other peripherals available; we've found that we could easily integrate all of our sensors and modules. We have chosen the STM32CubeIDE as our main firmware development tool, the HAL library to access peripherals, and the C language to develop the whole firmware. STMicroelectronics has supported the project from the first contact, providing several electronic components for studies, tests and mainly the development of the PCBs for the B20 project. We greatly appreciate their help, and we hope that our partnership will continue lasting many more years.

FINITE ELEMENTS ANALYSIS

Thiago Chaguri

All efforts and restrictions are applied in geometry, where it is divided by elements, in small parts, that will characterize the whole problem. These elements transform a complex problem into small simple problems.

For the entire analysis, the software called ANSYS is used in which it can be used in several areas for engineering problems, and all the method used of finite elements is applied to solve an entire analysis.

Finite elements are called mesh because they are interconnected by points, called nodes. Even with the division into small elements, which due to the physical behavior will not obtain exact mesh resolution, but with approximate precision, the smaller the size and consequently the greater the number of elements, the greater precision of the analysis results.

In our team, an analysis is essential for the validation of the project, for example, the analysis of the transmission system supports, brake system pedal, pinion and steering gear rack, tubes and chassis supports. In cases in which we do not obtain the desired results, a whole reformulation and new strategy to achieve validation is necessary.

With that, it is possible to make a simulation of the physical behavior, of its application, to obtain results such as displacements, active stresses, reactions, and others.

B’ENERGY Joining the B’Energy Racing Team was a complement to everything that I previously missed from experiencing engineering projects in practice, it is not new that the job market does not always have opportunities for people without specific experiences or techniques in the area of expertise, and I feel that being in this family I was able to improve a lot of this professional side, I like to think that the engineer resides in the soul, in the creativity of a person, and as FSAE Students we are constantly thinking about how we can go beyond and make things a little bit better every day. The B'Energy Racing team was vital for my professional maturity, because here with my friends I learned the importance of FACTS, we defend studies and present data, references what we apply in Design tests for SAE, and this leads us to experiences for many moments in our lives, as it was with me that I was able to observe in my internship, because we started to analyze the procedures in which the

Company is used to work: if they are the best procedures, or just an addiction in which everyone settled down to deal with problems, in addition to all technical knowledge, which enabled me to seek my effectuation even in this difficult moment of pandemic that we are all living in, and with all this, I am very grateful to my team for all the shared experiences we have. Bruno Marocchio is our most recent member of B'Energy that get his effectuation in Engineering, an Electrical Engineering student currently in the 7th period, worked as an Electrification Intern at the Multinational Company Dana Incorporated for 1 year and 6 months and today, he works as a Product Analyst at DANA.

INSTITUTIONAL VIDEOS Lucas Ferreira Feles

With the new school semester in 2021, Facens receive new freshmen full of energy and hungry for knowledge. New minds to work and develop are always welcome in the team, and that took us to open a new recruiting process. B’Energy Racing is, beyond a team, but also a second family to their members, united by the will to learn, innovate, compete and surpass our expectations and limits. To reach these feelings on new students and get them to join our team we thought in presenting it in an immersive way, by showing them our spirit.

Then came the idea of recording the “Institutional videos”, short videos showing some of the team’s members, one video for each member, where they explain a little about their area and job inside the team. The videos were edited by our professional partner Caio Lourenço, that managed to capture the team’s idea in a great way. All the 9 videos were released on our social media pages and are also available on YouTube, so check them out.

B’ENERGY ON SOCIAL NETWORKS B’Energy Racing Team’s Facebook page currently has over 3,480 likes and followers, that keep up with the team’s updates, like the competition photos and videos, news and memes. The team’s Instagram page has 1,800 followers and posts contents about competition, challenges, news, memes, and even interactive content in the stories. The professional B’Energy’s social media has over 2,600 followers, that contemplate contents like competition and news, with a more formal bias. Flickr is the platform where you can find pictures of our projects and competitions, being possible to glimpse a few of the last years of the team.

An emerging project, the B'Energy Racing's Twitter has as purpose to bring our updates via short messages, as well as photos, videos, news and memes.
