Telephoning the ward

Patient confidentiality

All patient information is treated with the utmost confidentiality. Only those professionals directly involved in your care will have access to this information. If you are concerned that this confidentiality has been breached or compromised in any way please let a member of staff know immediately.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and your records

Information about your rights under GDPR can be on the Information Commissioner’s website at ico.org.uk. If you would like to see your health records, please talk to the nurse or doctor looking after you.

Accessing health records

You have the right to see or receive a copy of your medical records. We may refuse access to some of the information e.g. if seeing it would cause serious harm to your health or would breach someone else’s right to confidentiality.

Mobile phones

We understand that during your hospital stay you may wish to use your mobile phone. Mobile phones can interfere with medical equipment, particularly Telemetry. Telemetry is a wireless system that monitors your heart rate and rhythm over a Wi-Fi connection. This is sensitive to the signal used with portable devices that use mobile networks.

Please speak to a member of staff before using your mobile device.

We ask you to be considerate of other patients when using your mobile. You must not take photographs of other patients or staff members. You should also be mindful when using the camera feature on your phone not to have other patients in view.
