On a Tuesday afternoon in January, after the buses left Berlin High School for the day, a group of Upbeat students stood in the lobby waiting to go volunteer at a hospital. Upbeat director Alice Mitchell answered questions and made sure they were all set to leave. One student had transportation issues and told her she wasn’t able to go. Mitchell consulted with the young woman and quickly arranged a solution.
