Bark for Life returns Oct. 17 By Sam Dostaler Special to The Citizen
The 67th Berlin Fair returns to the Berlin Lions Fairgrounds Oct. 2 to 4. See inside for a guide. Along with food, games, rides, animals and exhibits, the fair, once again, features great live music. This year’s most-talked about act is former American Idol participant Casey James, pictured.
The 3rd Annual Bark for Life, a benefit for the American Cancer Society, is back and will take place Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Berlin Lions Fairgrounds from noon to 3 p.m. Last year the Berlin event raised $8,400 and welcomed more than 160 dogs and their owners. “Everything is about the canine and their owners that day,” said Lynn Kipphut, of the American Cancer Society. Berlin’s Bark for Life is put on by Dirty Dog, a local pet wash and “pawstry shop.” The day includes demonstrations, contests and games. Some of the traditional favorites include a costume contest, and the awards handed out for smallest and largest dog and furthest distance traveled to attend. A number of vendors will be on site as well, and part of the day’s festivities will include a demonstration by the Kensington Fire Department. See Bark / Page 4
